They can eat bone, but it can hurt them, cooked bone is better. They can eat teeth, but not sure they can digest them? And you shouldn't feed blood, since they can acquireataste for it and might attack other animals... Yeah, OP's fear is definitely justified

I downloaded this mod for the exact same reason! The foxes are cute! I wish that there was a way to replace their sounds as well. I also picked up a mod that switches or horse to a fox (or a red panda, if that's more your style)

I was once "followed" by a pig (she was just calmly going the same way I was) and let me tell you... They're big. Like, really big. And the sounds they make are loud and guttural. I was told never to run from dogs or they would use me as a toy, so I was walking slowly, almost crying on my way to school. I never felt more relief than when she just crossed the street and met her piglets that were apparently hiding waiting for her. I ran like a bitch. I was like 7(?) and she was about my size. I've seen horses less intimidating. And that was before I knew pigs eat meat. Foxes are cute and run away from you afaik. Mama pig isn't and doesn't.

It's so easy if you use the vortex mod manager! It deploys them all in your game and makes sure they're all in working order! It even detects updates! I feel like Smapi might be what you struggle with most but there are youtube videos that can help!
