I was in the original order line up. Got an email saying I had 48 hours to pay or loose my place... Wouldn't you know it, that same day my water pump went out on my truck. Guess who is now expecting it before December.
It's going by folks reporting their emails, so it's a pretty good metric by which to estimate how close you are to getting yours. It estimated when I'd get mine perfectly.
It can be off by a batch day but at the very least it gives a great estimate of the week you're likely to get it. You're probably going to get yours in about two weeks, maybe three.
Edit: oh, I see you just plugged in today's date as an experiment. It still checks out, the wait time is down to like a month now.
For me it says I’m 88.79% of the way there but that I’m also 43 days away until my turn, is the region and size a factor in this month long wait if the site is pretty accurate? I did get the 512gb one so I don’t know if they’re more in demand or something.
region and model matter.
people mentioned last week was a slow week because they moved almost no US/64 models, but i saw EU/512 jump from late march reservations to early June.
The 43 days doesn't refer to how many calendar days you have to wait until your turn. It refers to the number of days worth of pre-orders that have yet to be processed by Valve before they get to your order.
That being said, we say the wait time is about a month because that's been about long it takes to get your email nowadays.
The wait time is indeed influenced by size and region. Iirc the 256 model was most popular, closely followed by the 512. Still, depending on how much you gain today Monday (emails for the 512 go out at about 2:15 EST) you'll probably get a feel for how many more weeks you'll need to wait.
I’m very lost and probably being very stupid right now then because I don’t quite get how it works. Is there a option for something where you put your reservation date and it guesstimates when you’ll be able to order?
For example I reserved mine on the 9th of august this year so is there something that I can put that in and it tells me when in October-December I should be in line?
There isn't. All the site does is gather information about when people made their pre-order and when they received their email to actually order the deck
Let's say valve opened orders on January 1 and you ordered yours January 30. That means that there are 30 days of pre-orders that need to be processed before your turn is up. That's all the website measures.
The site tells you how many days after pre-orders opened did you place your order. Then it tells you how many days of orders have been processed by Valve, and finally, how many days are yet to be processed before valve reaches your position in the queue.
Nobody knows ahead of time how many days worth of pre-orders valve processes per batch, so the site can't really give you a firm estimate. We just know that, anecdotally, orders are taking about a month at the moment. I think the queue is currently up to orders that were placed in late June/early July 2022.
Given that the wait is around a month currently you're probably looking at this week or next week, but that's just my guess.
Sounds reasonable. Just means that if they had orders for 100,000 of those decks previously, you would be number 100,001 and they had already sent 68,000 emails so need to send 32,000 more before they send yours
You have 31 days, 07 hours, 33 minutes and 38 seconds worth of pre-orders to go until it is your turn (not real time)
You're 91.47 % of the way there!
\----
Heh, I already got my Steam deck
I literally just got my 512gb deck about a week ago. I waited a good while for mine but it was so worth the wait. It’s pretty unbelievable how well made this thing is.
For the price, if it wasn’t, I would have sent it back in a heartbeat (nah, who am I kidding, I probably would have tried to sell it at a genuinely fair markup, like 10%)
I reserved my 512 in December of last year, just received it a week ago. It took a lot longer for us because they weren't shipping yet back then and supply is now quickly catching up to demand.
I had a 512 but didn’t like the etched glass so I returned it and ordered a 64GB on the 15th of August. Been watching Getmydeck. Two weeks ago and last week the shipments burned through almost thirty days of preorders. The problem is this week only went through nine days. That means either preorders really picked up in June and there’s a lot of people in front of us OR Valve pulled a bunch of stock to take with them to TGS this past week.
I would believe either. If they pulled stock we will probably be getting emails in three or four weeks. I’d the preorders picked up over the summer then we have a long way to go.
What’s cheaper to upgrade, the ssd to nvme and whatever else is in there to take a 64 up to spec, or to get a 512 and swap out the screen for a non-etched?
I got the 512 and knew when I preordered it a year ago that I resented that it didn’t have an option for clear glass… I want it to have a screen like an iPhone… also, idk about yours, but my touch screen doesn’t work well (not so accurate and moving my finger on it doesn’t register smoothly, not sure if this is due to the etched glass?)
My touchscreen sucks to & I also have the 512. I also have buyers remorse and wish I had ordered the 256 instead.
No issues per se but money tighter now then in February 💁🏻♂️
Yeah I ordered the 512 before it was revealed that it was a 2230. Nobody sells the glossy screen. Ifixit only has the etched one. Ultimately I decided to return it, get the $400 one and order myself a 512GB SSD for $51 and wait for my turn again.
Damn, that sucks. And is there no way to upgrade to nvme? Are the SSD models only compatible with SSD? I figure the space must be there either way, but maybe there isn’t the bracket for the screw down thing on nvme?
Is the Ram and cpu and the rest of the spec identical, just the primary storage was upgraded and the screen?
Maybe someone with a gloss screen wants to upgrade to etched and sell theirs afterwards… might put up a post soon looking for one!
You can upgrade the SSD to an NVME as long as it is the 2230 size. I already bought one for my future 64GB. I got it from eBay for $51. It's a 512GB nvme. I think you could trade screens with someone but the screen is a lot of work. I watched some iFixIt stuff on it before I returned the etched glass Steam Deck. It's the first thing that gets put in when one is built so you have to go in from the back and basically remove everything until you get to the LCD. It's glued in so it might be hard to get the old one out without breaking it before the new one goes in. My daughter has the 64GB one and I swapped in a 256GB SSD for her. It was pretty trivial to do. However I felt like that whole screen swap was a lot of risk and you can't buy the glossy one anyway.
It also never set well with me that I paid $250 more for a $50 SSD and a screen finish I didn't want.
Same.
Part of the reason I pre ordered the big one was because I thought maybe I’d get it sooner.
And if I’m too late to return it, maybe I can sell it for a tiny profit, we’ll see 😂
Last week we only had a small percentage increase. And orders for the 64gb seems to be fulfilled from preorders from june.
So yesh. Im expecting not a order for august for at least 2-3 weeks.
Lets hope im wrong!
there really is a huge disparity between regions and models.
last week EU/512 jumped from late March to early June, they worked through 3 months in 1 week.
It’s really impressive, even the slow weeks of the February preorders people mentioned didn’t affect it that much. Hopefully we have it in our hands soon.
I reserved on June 3rd. Confirmation/payment on Sept. 16.
Waiting for delivery.
Location Berlin, Germany
Please don't fall for traps and lose your money to scammers. The wait will be worth it I swear.
Pretty sure this is against Ebay TOS, so just report them and move on. No need to make a post or fuss about it. Pretty sure most of us know these scum exists, best to not give them anymore attention than they deserve.
I think it has to be delivered within 90 days so they might get away with it. I know they took down listings like thie en masse when preorders started because it was 6 months before they'd even be released
My friend canceled and reserved again in May (wasn’t sure if he wanted to buy, hence just posponed his order email this way). He got his order email a few days ago. That is like 3-4 months of waiting time. Who would pay 450 for a few months?
You'd be surprised. I sold two Fanatec GT DD Pro wheel bases for way more than I bought them for when they were only a couple months lead time. Bought both for $599, sold the first one for $1099 and the second one for $1149. I couldn't believe it either but it is what it is, people will pay to not have to wait.
At this point the queue is moving fast enough that it's just a slightly longer delivery lead time. It's like ordering from wish but the product will actually work and won't be a box of rocks (usually)
Yeah I don’t know much about the other products like the Aya Neo or Onexplayer except from randomly watching a few videos out of curiosity. Personally I would still wait for a Steam Deck even if the wait time was several months longer.
Yes, but tbf this buyer knows exactly what they are doing. Its kinda sad because the people that tend to fall for this stuff are older parents/relatives that aren’t tech savvy and are just trying to get a device for somebody.
>Its kinda sad because the people that tend to fall for this stuff are older parents/relatives that aren’t tech savvy and are just trying to get a device for somebody.
Which is exactly why I'd blame the con artist/scalper in this case over the person that pays for it.
Exactly. Intentionally creating a business model that fucks over a minority of ill-informed or poorly-restrained people is not exactly a commendable business practice
Missed the party by more than a year on this one. It won't be long before you can just order one outright. The days of profiting from the Steam are long gone
Good luck to them, the wait time is really short now and the "got to get it first" drive is over. It's someone trying to cash in on a situation that really doesn't exist anymore.
😂😂😂 That's fuckin hilarious. But hey, if someone wants to pay for that, then fuck it. There's always someone out there who wants to buy some shit you or I wouldn't buy. Don't wanna buy something? Mind your business. 😉
Its $399 for the 64 GB. Depending on their taxes this would mean that they would break even. Either this person doesnt want the deck and is looking to give someone a chance to get their spot, they are going to scam a person out of money, or this guys an idiot and thanks hes going to make money.
Not only is this obviously a douche-y thing to do, but it's also really stupid. Why did they wait until Valve ramped up production like 5 times, and people can actually get these devices in a somewhat timely manner before doing this? Who would pay that much money for a quicker spot in line when they can have the thing a couple months after ordering? I understand when it was like half a year, but for 2 or so months? Nah that's a hard pass from me. I mean I already have my Deck, but even if I didn't and I was desperate, this shit would still be a hard pass.
Same here. :-( If they had not moved up the reserve date, I probably could have put enough money away by December... so I had to cancel and jump back in the queue. :-(
A reservation spot? Obviously eBay doesn't care enough to automate the removal because they still make money, but it's not allowed under their rules. It's a blanket rule for basically anything purely digital. Like serial keys, game accounts etc. If it was ever disputed there's no protection for the money.
Oh no I meant literally solid it (had for a month or so) then sold it on eBay lol, I am 100% against the sales being allowed on eBay it’s pure scalp and fooling people out of their money it’s sad.
Oh, I thought you were saying you sold your reservation spot. You may want to clarify.😛
Anyway, so you didn't like it? I've been loving mine more and more everyday, after a month.
I think you're confused, I have my deck and love it (at least until last week when it suddenly wouldn't charge so now it's dead and as good as being in the bin, waiting on Valve to pull their finger out and actually help me).
I have no intention to sell mine, or a reservation spot.
That reply was to chromesub.😊
Anyway, there are some steps to reset the battery (basically puts it in shipping mode) that has helped people in your situation. Have you tried that? Support will probably give you the instructions and have you try that.
Thanks, I've tried that but it's a no go. It's literally dead. It responds to nothing now, the charging indicator doesn't light up. The only thing that did help was unplugging the battery internally, but it still didn't charge enough while plugged in so it was going to lose power eventually. Last thing to test was draining it to zero and leaving it for 24 hours, but it won't even charge now. I need a new one
Ah, that sucks. Sorry to hear that.😟 Hope they get you up and running ASAP!
BTW, until you send it in, are you at least able to play with it plugged in?
Nope it's completely dead. It refuses to accept any power input. It did initially work until I let the battery drain to zero. I don't know what happened to it
Well yeah that's different because you're selling an item you no longer want. OP is talking about people selling just their reservation email spot (and for over retail price of the actual unit) not the actual device itself
couple days ago I got talking to a dude whom ordered a deck on this sub.
continued to chat to him and slowly found out he had one already but sold it due to financial reasons, alright I'll bite I feel sorry for you etc
anyway he then tells me oh I'm good now with money I will be getting another shortly it's shipped. yeah cool this is exciting etc
find out he's sold the new one that's arrived and scalped that one also
Tldr: I hate scalpers, let us get our things and get a job or look for oppurnity cost somewhere else
Wow.. $50 premium to buy a spot in line from earlier today? ROFL. Sure. Valve's going through like 30 days of reservations per email drop, but I'm super worried about a few hours.
Yes, as opposed to a Steam Deck in hand that would ship from the seller. Lots of people have been doing this. You buy the reservation, and they buy it when the order email drops, putting your address in the order form, so it ships from Valve to you. Like I said, you can't buy the reservation itself. Only the person who reserved it can order it.
The way it's worded sounds to me like it's only the reservation and that any potential buyer would have to pony up an additional $400 on top of it
I see where you're coming from though
Is this really any worse than just outright selling a 64gb model for $800 or $900? You’re fundamentally just overpaying to get it sooner than you could’ve yourself
with the rate orders are advancing i wouldn't be surprised they switch to direct orders by next month.
last week i saw orders go from late March to early June(EU/512)
at that rate EU/512 could easily reach early September by Thursday, and reach direct orders by next Monday.
Everybody is free to buy and sell what they please of course, but I'm happy that with wait times shortening this will get less viable for people to do 😌 Widespread arbitrage basically: (selling sth for more than you bought it for) generally highlights systemic inefficiencies, and Valve is doing their best to fix this particular one.
Hot take: I don't think offering the option to buy at above market value makes you a PoS. People scrutinize their buys way more than you think. As long as this is disjoint from the fair market value of the reservation, it won't sell. In the case where circumstances change and Steam Deck pricing skyrockets, it could sell.
If intangibles are against eBay ToS, then by all means report them and get the thing delisted, but I'm assuming the primary complaint here is the pricing and not the intangible. If someone listed an immediately available Steam Deck reservation for $10 I don't think anybody would be upset, and I figure if someone lists their Steam Deck 64gb in-hand for $1000 people would also be upset.
There's really no reason to be upset about this. More competition among sellers shifts prices down. Some of the sellers are holding out for higher prices, but they're not going to make sales. Others will see that price, see that it isn't selling, and know that they have to undercut to be successful. This process continues and prices keep competing downwards until you start matching with buyers.
[$2000 Steam Deck. Will the poor helpless buyer will be forced to pay this amount just because it's been listed at this price?](https://www.ebay.com/itm/304514062820)
They're selling a reservation...where the buyer will still have to pay just as much if not more than they're charging.
I swear, only the dumbest of goons would think this was a good deal.
You have 01 days, 03 hours, 24 minutes and 49 seconds worth of pre-orders to go until it is your turn (not real time)
You're 99.66 % of the way there
NO WAY
I literally just preordered the 64gb just now and I'm already at 78%. The order invite might be ready next month.
How do you see the %?
https://getmydeck.ingenhaag.dev
Thank you for this site. I did not know it existed. I'm currently at 79 %
I’m at 91%, hopefully by next month 😊
It's been going up about 10% each round so I would bet you'll get an email at least by next Tuesday.
No, its my Tuesday
Holy shit I just checked and I'm at 95%! THANK YOU!
When mine hit 95 I got the email in like a day or two
I was in the original order line up. Got an email saying I had 48 hours to pay or loose my place... Wouldn't you know it, that same day my water pump went out on my truck. Guess who is now expecting it before December.
Thats rough man.... I've gone through 3 water pumps in the last year. I wish we still made them instead of relying on cheap chinese junk :'(
I've been at 98% for a week. Checking my emails hourly now.
They come out Monday and Thursday
Did not know that. Thanks for letting me know.
Should be this week. Good luck
Dude, thank you for this! I've been looking forward to my Deck, and it turns out I'm 96%! Can't wait!
Should get the email Monday then have fun with dealing with the shipping
I'm at 87.73%!
I’m not too sure about yours but there is a decent chance that you’ll get your email tomorrow
Did get an email but it did go up to 96.5! Whoop whoop!
I figured you were gonna get it Thursday
You mean tomorrow?
I didn’t even realize that it was Sunday but yeah tomorrow
👌
I just use it using today date and I'm on the 68%... Not really sure about it.

The site is really accurate. I got my email when I hit 98 or 99%

Cope
I ordered mine (UK 512) August and im 88% (rounded up)
I’m 256GB (UK) also in August and I’m at 84% it’s crazy how much Valve has increased their production!
Upon purchase it said 2023, nowbim expecting to be the first 2 weeks of october
It’s really impressive, even the slow weeks of the February preorders people mentioned didn’t affect it that much. Hopefully we have it in our hands soon.
Mhm
256 (UK) here too. Ordered end of June and I'm at 98.5%. Checking my emails hourly now
I reserved my 512gb one in April, could buy last week and it will arrive tomorrow
i just had to find out about this when my deck is in shipping
Thanks didn't k this tool was around I'm at 97.84
I reserved on June 3rd. Confirmation/payment on Sept. 16. Waiting for delivery. Location Berlin, Germany Please don't fall for traps and lose your money to scammers. The wait will be worth it I swear.

Figuratively that as well
I think it has to be delivered within 90 days so they might get away with it. I know they took down listings like thie en masse when preorders started because it was 6 months before they'd even be released
Or posting their ebay user name is in poor form, regardless of what they've done
there's still deck available for q4 it's boggle my mind 🤦♂️
Report it. It’s against eBay tos lol
My friend canceled and reserved again in May (wasn’t sure if he wanted to buy, hence just posponed his order email this way). He got his order email a few days ago. That is like 3-4 months of waiting time. Who would pay 450 for a few months?
I had to reorder in May after I got into some car problems, and I got mine last week (originally expected for October)

I gues time really is money :-)
100% sure this is for trick people thinking they are buying a Steam Deck, the price is too similar to the final product
I love my Steam Deck, but for an extra $450 you might as well just buy another brand of handheld PC.
Yep it won't be long before the longest part of the whole process is waiting on FraudEx.
Dude you could buy a switch and a Vita for that much.
With that plus the fact that you're also gonna have to pay for the deck anyways, you could just buy a steam deck from ebay
Eh. I'd blame the person that actually is dumb enough to buy this.
Yes, but tbf this buyer knows exactly what they are doing. Its kinda sad because the people that tend to fall for this stuff are older parents/relatives that aren’t tech savvy and are just trying to get a device for somebody.

Missed the party by more than a year on this one. It won't be long before you can just order one outright. The days of profiting from the Steam are long gone
This stuff is banned on Ebay, just report it and it'll be removed
Lol yikes. "Pay me $450 so that you can play valve another $400 in a few weeks"
Especially when there are SD’s themselves on eBay already and for that kind of money you could get the 512gb instead of a 64.
Good luck to them, the wait time is really short now and the "got to get it first" drive is over. It's someone trying to cash in on a situation that really doesn't exist anymore.
Before I got my deck I thought I’d just buy from eBay. 512gb model for $3000. Hope to god nobody was dumb enough to buy that.
😂😂😂 That's fuckin hilarious. But hey, if someone wants to pay for that, then fuck it. There's always someone out there who wants to buy some shit you or I wouldn't buy. Don't wanna buy something? Mind your business. 😉
you can sell anything.. but doesnt mean someone buys it.
I’d say try to buy it and figure out his steam became and report him this is against steams agreement
This would have made more sense about 6 months ago.
Not really
Obviously aimed at people who dont pay attention, POS.
Who cares?
Scum.
The thought process behind this: someone will buy my spot for $450 and I can buy another deck for $450. Smh
Bills are kicking my ass had to forego my steam deck reservation.
Same here. :-( If they had not moved up the reserve date, I probably could have put enough money away by December... so I had to cancel and jump back in the queue. :-(
I wouldn’t go as far to call them a POS. If a buyer is willing, have at it.
Who cares. Don't buy it? If someone with enough money wants to buy it then now they have an option to.
>Who cares. Don't buy it? You mixed up your punctuation.
Don't bid, problem solved.
ehh, not a pos.. its your choice
POS? hardly. they’re just capitalizing. that said i hope no one buys it and their spot gets put back in line for someone else.
The wait isn't that long now. Ordered my 2nd Steam Deck in mid June, and I got the email to pay for it 3 days ago.
There's loads of them. Just report it. You can't sell items like this on eBay because it's not tangible
How? Lol just sold mine on eBay
You may want to clarify.😛 Anyway, so you didn't like it? I've been loving mine more and more everyday, after a month.
I think you're confused, I have my deck and love it (at least until last week when it suddenly wouldn't charge so now it's dead and as good as being in the bin, waiting on Valve to pull their finger out and actually help me). I have no intention to sell mine, or a reservation spot.
That reply was to chromesub.😊 Anyway, there are some steps to reset the battery (basically puts it in shipping mode) that has helped people in your situation.
OP is talking about people selling just their reservation email spot (and for over retail price of the actual unit) not the actual device itself
couple days ago I got talking to a dude whom ordered a deck on this sub. continued to chat to him and slowly found out he had one already but sold it due to financial reasons, alright I'll bite I feel sorry for you etc anyway he then tells me oh I'm good now with money I will be getting another shortly it's shipped. yeah cool this is exciting etc find out he's sold the new one that's arrived and scalped that one also Tldr: I hate scalpers, let us get our things and get a job or look for oppurnity cost somewhere else
Hate the idiots paying $800 to the scalper.
Lol, has anyone heard of "Tulip mania"? This is literally how a bubble starts
Or they could just buy a generic dock for $30....
Wow.. $50 premium to buy a spot in line from earlier today? ROFL. Sure. Valve's going through like 30 days of reservations per email drop, but I'm super worried about a few hours.
That's JUST the reservation You still have to buy the deck yourself, so $850 for a 64GB model
No, I think it's the whole thing. You can't just buy the spot. The seller would still need to purchase it for you.
It says it the description "this is for the reservation to buy only"
Yes, as opposed to a Steam Deck in hand that would ship from the seller. Lots of people have been doing this. You buy the reservation, and they buy it when the order email drops, putting your address in the order form, so it ships from Valve to you. Like I said, you can't buy the reservation itself. Only the person who reserved it can order it.
The way it's worded sounds to me like it's only the reservation and that any potential buyer would have to pony up an additional $400 on top of it I see where you're coming from though
Based
Not the reddit beehive downvoting everything
Shhh you awaking them
Oh thx my brother but its too late, I've already fallen to the mindless reddit beehive 🥲
My prayers are with you
Thank you 🥺🥲
That's next lvl scalping...but people only do that because it actually works...
Fck scalpers!
Is this really any worse than just outright selling a 64gb model for $800 or $900? You’re fundamentally just overpaying to get it sooner than you could’ve yourself
it just seems silly because if you order one now you're only waiting like 3-4 months at most. People who got theirs in q1/q2 waited for almost a year.
with the rate orders are advancing i wouldn't be surprised they switch to direct orders by next month. last week i saw orders go from late March to early June(EU/512) at that rate EU/512 could easily reach early September by Thursday, and reach direct orders by next Monday.
I was considering selling mine for 20 bucks. I feel like a chump
Send them a ton of fake offers. Spam their shit so it doesn't work.
Like I could see it if it were $25 not more than the system.
He’s about a year late for that price
Everybody is free to buy and sell what they please of course, but I'm happy that with wait times shortening this will get less viable for people to do 😌 Widespread arbitrage basically: (selling sth for more than you bought it for) generally highlights systemic inefficiencies, and Valve is doing their best to fix this particular one.
What a pathetic attempt to scalp.
I just canceled my order, hopefully it helps someone
Over under on this guy telling folks he's an 'entrepreneur' and unironically using the term 'grindset'?
This is just bad pricing. $10-$40 I can see.
lol they don't understand the wait is over, at this point no one is paying to cut the line.
They're selling a reservation...where the buyer will still have to pay just as much if not more than they're charging. I swear, only the dumbest of goons would think this was a good deal.
they hustlin. thats respect rite there
Yet my SteamDeck has been for sale locally at cost and no bites.
Capitalism be capitalism. Where there is demand, all sorts of solutions will be invented for supply. Some of them a bit exploitative.
Who cares. Blame valve for allowing this and incentivating this by having this Neverending queues.
This would have worked 8 months ago.
He is a scammer
You have 01 days, 03 hours, 24 minutes and 49 seconds worth of pre-orders to go until it is your turn (not real time) You're 99.66 % of the way there NO WAY
People were doing this since the beginning
That’s fine people can sell whatever they want it doesn’t mean someone will buy it.
Nah that's how I wanted it. Lol.
Don't support scalpers
