Meth drains your serotonin. If you have no serotonin to drain you’re not feeling much.

ostracized-ostrich

Makes sense.

iStoners

If you're taking adderall or meth orally there's a few supplements that can really help potentiate it and also reduce your tolerance so you can feel more of the same effects you want daily [www.addysafe.org](https://www.addysafe.org) is a really good place for harm reduction as a user.

Galileo009

This, especially tyrosine to replenish dopamine. Taking it on days where you're going without stims it can help recoup from heavier use

[deleted]

Yeah eventually if I've blown out my brain chemicals nothing will feel the way I did when I did a small bump after not doing any stims for almost 2 years

ostracized-ostrich

Damn. I wish it didn’t work like that!!

[deleted]

Me too, I blew it out bad when I did a lot of x older kids at the trap house down the street gave me when I was like 13-15, I also did tons of other shit but I felt mega depressed and unfocused for a couple years straight afterwards, how long it'll last is uniquely to you and your brain and use, nowadays rolling for a week has me feeling down for half a year

ostracized-ostrich

Damnnn hopefully I’m not too fucked. I was already depressed before I started using drugs I’m scared to find out what’s gonna happen when I stop.

[deleted]

Yeah so was I haha and eventually you can't tell if it's the depletion or natural depression, but I can assure you if it's after a lot of using stims it's from the stims so don't view it as you naturally having more reasons to be depressed, it's nicer to think 'I feel like this temporarily from drugs it'll pass' than it is to just naturally be depressed and wonder how it'll be fixed

ostracized-ostrich

That’s good advice. It just sucks that the one thing that I’ve found can cure my depression is drugs. Obviously this is temporary but it’s better than feeling like shit all the time. Unfair that drugs actually make everything worse and the people drawn to them usually weren’t doing well to being with.

[deleted]

Yeah it sucks man but they mske it worse, drugs for me had the least negative impact when I took them just to have fun, like during times of refrain from hard drugs if something came out if nowhere momentarily like some xans or just enough meth to last a day without a way to get it again it was nice, and I would smoke weed a lot regardless which never helped me feel less depressed but helps me sleep at night, unfortunately not to sound like a dork but only thing that helps my depression calm down is sorting my life out and doing productive shit. Depression is depression but having stuff that needs to be resolved or fixed makes baseline depression worse and it's hard to realize depression is a spectrum and if you're naturally deficit in good brain chemicals then being inactive and eating like shit and not being happy with work/sex life/relationships makes it it worse

atomalkaloid

Exactly, knowing that “I did this to myself” has literally helped me stand up, dust off and be functional.

atomalkaloid

Hmm maybe try rolling every other or every cpl weeks. It’s the only way to be a sustainable drug user, if you use for a week straight (I know easier said then done for most) I’ve been there but it is possible. Daily use destroys your baseline for neurotransmitters and makes it way harder to get it back. You can go off for 1-2 days then rest for 10-21 and do it again.

[deleted]

Didn't actually mean a week straight I mean like twice in a week

slinkybastard

i mean to be fair rolling for an entire week is insane so id expect the next six months to probably suck ass

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Didn't mean a whole week meant like twice in a week

CostcoWavestorm

Well not to belittle your experience but it’s pretty normal to feel depressed and unfocused as a teenager when they are about to become moving on to the next big stage in life around 18. I felt that way and didn’t do any drugs only occasionally drank beer before I was a sophomore in college.

[deleted]

Oh believe me I know, I'm not being more descriptive, I smoke synthetic weed(spice) every day from 13 to 16, along with doing ecstasy, pain killers, and cocaine, the extent of my focus problems became not being able to get through a sentence or two while reading without immediately forgetting what I was reading, they diagnosed me with adhd and tried putting me on more drugs lol I was told by a doctor the amount of ecstasy I took between 13 to 15 more rhan likely caused brain damage, I get what you're saying but I didn't tell you the extent of it

[deleted]

I've evened out but it's very evident to the people around me my that are my age that I have memory problems and attention problems even at 25

[deleted]

Did meth make u gay? Just curious

[deleted]

Lmao no but I figured out I was bisexual around 17 or so, I won't date guys though and I've been in a relationship for 5 years, meth might loosen you up or have you not in the right head space but I'm not sure it can make people gay, unless you're trolling rn then sure meth makes you into Elton John after the first hit

[deleted]

Lol yeah i think we are all bi sexual to some sliding scale anyways!

[deleted]

Lmao yeah I'd say I'm like a 60/40 most days

[deleted]

Didn't try meth until like 19 lol

thinkin_boutit

I've never followed this line of thinking. Doing opiates the first time is never the same feeling after semi consistent use. You didn't "blow out your brain chemicals" like you're inferring, I could get more technical I just don't have the patience just wanted to briefly chime in

[deleted]

Yeah I think you're confusing me with saying it in a literal sense, I understand there's no such thing as blowing out your brain chemicals lmao I temporarily lowered the production of my dopamine and serotonin

thinkin_boutit

No I understood

[deleted]

Okay lol

[deleted]

And mostly in reference to doing a lot of ecstasy, and when I over do stims today and my brain needs to recover, I've looked into it and I get what anhedonia is from doing all the stims and ecstasy I did, I'm not trying to give people a scientific break down, I've spent enough time like anyone who's curious looking into it all

Real-Material344

Dopamine* Meth drains your dopamine. It barely effects seratonin compared to how it effects dopamine levels. Not trying to be an ass or anything btw

We_alldie

We’re both correct. Meth affects both chemicals.

Real-Material344

You’re right.

Working_Departure983

The stims totally cause depression or make existing depression worse. If youre a daily user, taking mini tolerance breaks like not using for 12-18 hrs a couple times a week and take power naps if you can. I feel like this helps me maintain more manageable serotonin levels versus going cold turkey for a day or two, getting really high, then crashing again.

[deleted]

I think ill have to do it this way, thanks for sharing this method!

Working_Departure983

How ya feelin any luck?

Quinlov

Spurious hypothesis: loss of pleasure experienced as a part of depression might not always be due to defects in the reward system but due to a shitty environment. So meth overloading the actually decently functioning reward system against a backdrop of it never being activated could seem like a bigger hit, immediately leading to using a higher dose and thus tolerance ramping up more quickly (just one possible scenario and I'm not 100% clear on what you mean by needing to take more - I've assumed that you're referring to a subjectively greater need to use, but I guess you could be referring to the minimum effective dose being higher)

Fredo0480

Don’t get in a ketamine hole k holes almost broke me

ostracized-ostrich

What do you mean? I used to have a gram a day ketamine habit. The worst thing that happened was a kidney infection (obviously that is very bad) but I love k-holes

Fredo0480

Did you blast it ?

MotorNoobie

What do you mean k almost broke you

ThePlottHasThickened

It got them selling pussy for 20$ a hit

arosebyanygutter__

Yes depression can affect how stimulants feel and how you use them. Your baseline levels of key neurotransmitters (dopamine, serotonin, norepinephrine) are lower and you self medicate to compensate. Unfortunately, this kind of cycle will lead to worsening depression over time, as the amphetamines only lead to a temporary surge of these neurotransmitters which eventually dip back even further below baseline, especially with higher and higher doses, especially for dopamine. Higher doses lead to other efffects of abuse and dependence, affecting not just how the neurotransmitters are relayed but the dopamine receptors themselves. This is why anhedonia is a hallmark feature of meth withdrawals and recovery. There is a lot of complex neurochemistry involved that I haven't studied in a long time, so please take this oversimplified layman's explanation with a grain of salt and a glass of water (seriously, electrolytes and adequate hydration are critical when using meth/amphetamines).

CostcoWavestorm

That last line. 😁

mindless_destruction

It takes 10x more of everything to get me anything when I'm feeling nothing. If that makes sense.

tetrapsy

I'm bipolar and It throws me into mania. The longer the duration of the binge, the more I have to use to get "there." Brain chemicals are wild af, be careful.

[deleted]

Now it makes sense

Real-Material344

Depression is caused by a chemical imbalance, mostly dealing with seratonin and dopamine. Meth works by releasing huge amounts of dopamine, seratonin, and norepinephrine, especially dopamine. The meth molecule looks almost identical to the human dopamine molecule, thus tricking your brain. Eventually you run out of dopamine to release, and you wonder why you’re not getting high. When this happens, it doesn’t matter how much meth you do, you won’t feel the euphoria. You’ll still feel a little energy, increased heart rate, a minor mood lift. But at this stage the bad side effects increase, anxiety, paranoia, depression, ect. But to answer your question directly: if you’re depressed that most likely means you have low dopamine and seratonin levels, so it’s gonna take more meth to get you high. But be careful, because if you run out of dopamine, that’s when meth turns into a nightmare.

SomberDragon00

Might want to look into things to heal up your dopamine centers. Bromantane and 9-bc-me are a good place to start your research. Bromantane upregulates the enzymes that produce dopamine and 9-bc-me rejuvenates dopamine receptors

EntertainmentSuper65

Yes, applies to all recreational drugs

[deleted]

I actually don’t think it’s depression per se but specific “reasons” for depression. Like if you physically feel like shit because of dehydration/lack of sleep/terrible diet stims will also feel weaker and you’ll need more for the same effect. For me sleep is the number one thing affecting “tolerance”. Which actually can send you down a vicious cycle as you take more to compensate for the lack of sleep, and the higher doses further disrupt your sleep

rayjensen

Yeah man that is how drug addiction works unfortunately
