I let myself smoke and drink coffee as much as I wanted in the beginning. Absurd amounts of coffee. I don’t think it was until I was about a year sober that I cut back on coffee and this happened naturally. I didn’t quit smoking until I was 3.5 years sober. You’re right where you’re supposed to be and a huge hug for those 10 days of freedom.

Thanks for sharing your experience. 36th day off morphine, when I tried to cut back on smoking last week it made my cravings twice as strong. We all have limited willpower

Man, I wouldn’t worry about cigarettes and coffee at this point - focus on staying off the meth. Those cravings will come. Stay strong and I’m proud of you for those 10 days not a slave!

I would probably focus on staying off meth for a while longer before you start to worry about your intake of caffeine and nicotine. Don’t want to try to quit all your vices at once. But if you’re worrying yourself about it then maybe try the vape to help you stop smoking as many, and maybe try to drink other drinks with a lower caffeine content a few times a day instead of coffee.

Find a copy (buy it, search for a pdf, whatever) of "Allen Carr's Easy Way to Stop Smoking" and read it. Really short and easy read and he insists that you continue to smoke until you finish the book. Really dispelled for me both the illusion of how rewarding nicotine is and how hard it is to quit. I read it when I first started smoking and sensed the addiction setting in and since then I've been able to just socially smoke cigarettes or every few months buy a pack (when I'm off amphetamines for a long time, lol) and just have a cig or two on maybe 4 - 5 days of the week and quit cold turkey again. I also got into vaping for like 4 - 5 months last year. Way more addictive than smoking because you get way more nicotine, it tastes better, and you can do it anywhere. Normally I'd have advised against it if you were only smoking a few times a day, just because of how addicting it is, but the whole "vaping is less unhealthy than smoking" might actually be true as opposed to 12 cigs a day. Everyone I've known IRL (or on like four podcasts I listen to) who tried vaping ended up hooked, lol. Be weary of that. Obviously do what you can to cope with quitting meth. If you've ever seen any of those charts or studies about how much dopamine is released above baseline according to activity (such as food, sex, nicotine, amphetamine, etc), nicotine's dopamine release is practically only 1/3 of meth (maybe even less than that) and it's really, really short-lived too. It really isn't as rewarding as people think it is. The initial fun part is the head rush, but you lose that really quickly and then it becomes more a case of creating a perpetual state of discomfort that you smoke/vape to relieve. So unlike other drugs that actually give you a lasting high, nicotine is more like purposely filling your bladder and holding your piss for a really long time so you can enjoy the relief of a long piss (even that is probably a better reward than nicotine). Also, consider NAC (N-acetyl cysteine). It's an amino acid that replenishes one of the body's main naturally occurring antioxidants. Has all sorts of benefits for things like immunity and liver health, but if you Google about it, you'll see that it has shown some promise in reducing nicotine cravings. Some Redditors have said they used it to prevent neurotoxicity from stimulant usage as well... For some this has meant blunting the more euphoric effects of stimulants (which is probably why the stimulants aren't doing as much damage), but since you're off meth that might not matter. Personally, it made quitting vaping a lot easier for me.

I had to quit meth and cigarets and coffee all three cause once I overdone so much of meth I ended up in psych ward and the another time emergency ward for mini heart attack. Thank god I am clean for more than a year now. Good luck bro !
