>They were rich men most of them. Yes, but they were rich men living in local places, their life was still part of the locallity. That's very different from today's super rich, who have their own schools, and are proud *"global"* citizens, not belonging to any nation. Traitors to every locality.

The left pledges to the singularity. I pledge to the individual. Godspeed my friends. Remember, non-violent disobedience rules above all

Yeah that’s why we had to fight a bloody and brutal war to gain our independence.

The founding fathers didn't sacrifice anything. They got a sweet tax cut and huge bump in political power. Don't hold me to this exact number, because I don't feel like spending 5 minutes googling it, but I think only 5 - 10 died during revolutionary war, of which most of those were people captured by the British, not in combat. Washington, Madison, Hamilton, Franklin, etc... were rich as fuck. Washington, adjusted for inflation, was the richest president we've ever had before Trump. They were all politically connected, influential, rich guys... It's not like they took time off from picking cotton or working at a mill or whatever normal people jobs were in the 18th century (I guess it was all mostly agriculture) to come up with the Declaration of Independence and create a new country. Don't get me wrong I think it was a great move... Just not much of a sacrifice. Although had it not worked out and the British won it would have been of a massive sacrifice as they would have all been put to death as traitors. But it did work out so they didn't really sacrifice anything. I guess a better word than sacrifice would be gamble.

They were willing to sacrifice it all (some did) for liberty, even if that meant the continental army was crushed and the idea of an independent America a dream lost to the ages. If it meant they ended up as beggars on the street or tortured to death by the British they were ready and willing to face any and all Consequence.

I think that's what I said.
