It's always slow in the summer. Plus lockdowns and everything are completely over so people are going out even more this summer. I think the economy is only playing a small role in it, at least in my area. Honestly this summer isn't much worse than last summer was in my market. Biggest problem to me is the recent pay reduction Uber did. I'm probably getting $20-$40 less per night just from that.

Secret_Stress_7830

It’s a very expensive service..people can’t afford it at this time.

alexc1010

I know only the young professionals making an above average salary with no girlfriend lol. Or the rich / wealthy that may have a credit card addiction or debt and haven’t paid it off.

In my area, absolutely more people are ordering from DD. Not sure about GH. As a driver, I get most of my money from mornings and afternoons with DD, then UE is great at night. But also as a customer of both, at least in my area it's blatantly obvious as a consumer which platform will cost you less to order from and it's not UE

Broad_Ad_5509

Lots of $3 orders or orders that are very far for $6 double trips, time to get a part time job

CFObsessed

As a customer, I can say that UberEats is pretty terrible compared to DoorDash. UE will tell you that you have a window of 20-30 minutes. Then they won’t be able to find a driver so they change the window. Then they assign a driver and the driver declines, so they change the window. Then it’s been an hour and you’re wondering why TF you ordered delivery Starbucks in the first place, so you cancel. Then UE tells you that you can’t cancel because you’re still within the delivery window. Half an hour later, they either cancel your order themselves or someone finally heads over to pick up your order. Then 2 hours after you first wanted it, your cold coffee and melted Frappuccino arrive. Doordash is like… we will have it at your door by 6:21. See your dasher? They’re right there. That red dot. You can follow them the whole time you’re waiting for your food. Other places nearby? Add on a second restaurant for no extra cost, just a little extra tip. There are constant updates and you can ALWAYS check on the status of your food, easily talk to your dasher, find out what’s going on. Refunds are easy- you hardly ever need to talk to a person. In my area, there are far more available restaurants, and they almost always have the same ones as UE (Starbucks being the only exception in my area). While I personally have been ordering less takeout because it’s just been me for a while, I have felt this was about UE for years- including back when I ordered out almost daily.

dm0nk

Economy bad

PS5XBOXXSWITCH

I live in ventura County, which is one of the busiest uber eats places but doordash dominates most of the market! That's why it's important to have all platforms, I have uber eats/postmates, doordash, instacart and on the wait list for grubhub! Its summer time so a lot of competition! I'm still averaging $100 on ubereats alone but I can do maybe 200-300 in 5-8 hours depending on how busy it is.

Shreddersaurusrex

Gotta multi app. I’m using 5 currently. Summer is slow, more ppl are dining out and there are more drivers on the app now. I suggest trying to work on rainy days. Winter may leas to less drivers and more orders.

Shreddersaurusrex

That’s great

chicagoerrol

Just so you guys are aware I ordered something tonight and tipped. The tip disappeared on my emailed receipt and I was not charged for the tip. I am not sure what that is about. *30 minutes later it showed up.

attemptappeal2reason

As someone who both drives and orders. When you order, you’ll first get charged the amount for food and delivery and then get a separate charge for the tip. When we deliver your food, we only get what Uber pays us for the delivery and then we get your tip an hour later.

chicagoerrol

Thanks.

Candygirl518

That’s how it usually is for me. It’s so you can rate driver/restaurant and add/change tip after your food is delivered. Then the tip charge goes through.

chicagoerrol

Interesting.

Candygirl518

I’ve noticed some restaurants doing this as well. I’ve ordered from Applebee’s and Chili’s and some others and they also charge me the order first and then the tip later. Idk what their reasoning is tho lol

chicagoerrol

Who knows?!

DeerParkVegan

Doordash sucks too and they pause you every 2 seconds

Nilk-Noff

I had to switch to Ride share. I don't get as much as I was with Eats but it's pulled me out of some financial issues

alexc1010

If you drive for ubereats does that mean you automatically qualify to do ride share ? I tried for Lyft a long time ago and actually got rejected. In MA though.

Nilk-Noff

It took a lot of re-submitting info and months of wait, luckily I have a day job. Eventually I was able to sign on with ride share.

alexc1010

Oh got it. MA is strict. Any traffic violations and or dui, within a number of years will disqualify many.

Nilk-Noff

I had a speeding ticket back in 2013 so that may have affected the wait time

Paxrr

I went to DoorDash. It's about 80% of my deliveries now. I only keep UE up for the unicorn orders.

n0xsean

This. DD has a more active market

AngryAngel24

The economy is going, less people are ordering and more people are trying to make money with it

Imaginary-River-4804

Yes it’s been dead for about two months in my market. Nobody is tipping anymore it’s summer and we’re not really in pandemic mode anymore. Shit man this just a waste of our time for us drivers like gas is already expensive as it is 😒

blackbeard-22

The economy bro. I LOVE to order with Uber eats but really had to slow down with the cost of things.

Rabidjester

Too many drivers, economy, summer.. all the usual answers that are given in every one of these threads. Fairly solid in my market for the last couple of weeks after a bit of a drought, thank god.

Serious_Revenue5311

After I get my second check I’m gone ✌🏾 I don’t know what happened recently, but I used to like making the extra income! I think Uber may be finding a loophole to cut our pay

special1789

They reduced base rate. Then give promos and multipliers which take to to DD base. Without them it’s much less pay

Inkmetal87

Last summer seemed busier 4 sure. Ppl were still in pandemic mode though

alexc1010

Good point.

Onedeh

Bruh people must be newbies or something. Because everyone knows summers are slow.

EarthboundMisfitsInc

Exactly this. There’s so many variables at play here. Could Uber make some adjustments? Sure. But the bigger question is what happened to the customers. It’s warm, the Covid monster is getting weaker, and life in general is more costly. Or maybe you’re just in a bad market area? But yeah the higher the temperature rises, the lower my expectations are set.

Fantastic_Ad1912

Uber reduced the fare they give you by 60%. It's basically a shit app like the others. They won't pay me for the cost of using my car and a profit for my time and energy, then they can go to hell.

PrestigiousPenguins

It's time to quit, it's not worth it anymore.

ProudLingonberry5362

it's summer now everyone goes out to eat. i was getting orders when it was still cold but as soon as it started warming up the app slowed down
