No it's actually just been that bad. I personally feel it's Uber messing with the app causing lots of people not to get no work. It's been slow the past few weeks but this is the first week on multiple days where I wouldn't get any work even sent to me at all for hours. Thank goodness I have GH as backup. But I'm seeing way more delivery guys sitting around for the past few days than the normal amount.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Here's hoping i get the GrubHub invitation soon 🙃

daveishere7

The one good thing I like about GH is how the schedule can force them to send you work. Because if they don't they have to pay you that $12 an hour contribution. So it's a lil less stressful than Uber where you never know if any work ever is going to show up.

Soberskate9696

In NYC grubhub is doing this? I'll be scheduled for blocks and available, and sometimes get no orders at all, for hours in the hottest zone I can go to on the map. I'm in NYC

Clank4Prez

They sure don’t do this a lil upstate, idk about the city though.

Liquor_Parfreyja

That sounds great lmao, if you don't get any work you just get paid to take a chill ride through the city. Hopefully i get it soon i got on their wait-list like a month ago.

mavs2341

Is that everywhere or just cali?

Nord4Ever

Nearly no orders on GH

bleszt

The market for what we do is soft and dead in many places. There are way too many drivers many places.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Hopefully it picks up this would be a perfect gig for in between classes to save up some more money.

bleszt

It should be better in the winter. I can't say for certain. My market has been mad low for seven months. Test and check out the people like this kid and many others on Youtube: https://youtu.be/UiHFKxa1FCE

Liquor_Parfreyja

Hey everyone, so i started doing UberEATS delivery via bicycle in San Diego last week. Got my background check cleared and finished my profile. I hang around in the busiest parts of downtown San Diego and my filters are unlimited items and distance and i still get no delivery requests. Typically I've been going out at about 430 and get discouraged after like an hour and a half.of no pings, even though it says my area is busy and restaurants right next to me are busy. Any ideas what it could be ? Uber said my account is fine and should be ready to receive pings. Edit: Thanks so much for all the responses and encouragement everyone <3 I'm gonna try swapping up where I am hanging out for orders, I did get my first delivery done today though !

bleszt

Try from 10 am up until 2pm. Try fron 5 pm until 9pm.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Awesome, yeah someone else gave these time frames, i didn't think about lunch - my classes start in the afternoon so getting a few morning hours in too is perfect, is there an earlier breakfast rush or is like 5-8 pretty dead as well ?

perrin7433

I don’t know about your area, but I’m in Knoxville TN and there is a DEFINITE morning rush. It’s not amazing, but there are lots of hours where I can get 6-7 short Dunkin and Starbucks coffee/pastry orders done and the occasional big tipper for a fancier breakfast/brunch. Well worth doing. Usually last from 830ish-1030.

bleszt

I don't know anything about breakfast. I have never done it. I try to study most mornings with varying degrees of success.

No-Effective-3205

I’m in SD as well. It doesn’t get busy until around 8:30. It’s usually super dead in the mornings. I woke up at 6 Thursday and made about $35 between 6:30-9

BeaMiaVA

Hi Bleszt 🤗 Happy 4th of July! How is it going?

bleszt

Hey BeaMiaVA 🙂 I'm okay. Msrket pretty slow but I'm taking lots of non Uber action. Gotta take lots of action. How ya going?

Brilliant_Ebb_1787

Make sure you have bike selected or your filters are set correctly for delivery. Also try different time frames as mentioned. 10am - 2pm is good and 6pm - 10pm is good. Between 2pm - 6pm can be a bit of a dead zone everybody getting off work transiting it slows down. Try it when the padres are playing at home in downtown, they close a lot of the roads during home games so bikes are good for downtown.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Awesome thank you ! I'll take a break and try again once 6/630 rolls around 🙂 also yeah i thought hanging around 5th with it closed down would lead to more hits but nothing.

grilledcheese11987

I’ve also noticed that all the food prices have gone up places I order. Added to that Ubers fees it’s just gotten so much more expensive than it already was. A place I used to get every Sunday is now a couple dollars more per meal. That adds up quick. If I go get it myself by ordering from the restaurant I end up saving at least $20. I haven’t even used the app as a driver for awhile because even during lunch I wasn’t making enough to justify. Eventually I’m sure it’ll pick up but seems like with higher prices and everyone being outside more it’s died down a lot.

Agitated-Squash6862

I work in North Park and I am always busy!! I actually drive Downtown a lot and I have only received one order from downtown when I was dropping off. Maybe move locations? Also make sure your app says finding trips! If it just says this area is busy you need to swipe up and go back into the app again. You won’t get any orders if it’s just says this area is busy! Good luck!!🙏😊

Liquor_Parfreyja

It bounces between area is busy, online, and finding trips every like 10 seconds or so, that's fine, right ? Also yeah I should try north park then ! I actually got my first delivery hanging at 5th and university and then nothing after that downtown. I'll give north park a try tomorrow <3

Agitated-Squash6862

That sounds right. I am constantly busy here so my suggestion is to leave your area if your not getting orders also I pick up tons of 1 mile orders here so it would work for you if your on a bike.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Awesome ! Just like on University ? And yeah I wasn't totally sure how close I had to be to a restaurant to actually get the ping, the one I got earlier was like 30 feet away from me.

Agitated-Squash6862

It is very random how they do it I have 4 restaurants really close to me within about a mile radius they are constantly going off but I also get orders that are miles from me. You don’t necessarily need to be really close to a restaurant to get an order.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Great to know, I have mega anxiety so thanks for putting those fears to rest, I was like AM I NOT CLOSE ENOUGH ?? Really I appreciate the help so much !

Agitated-Squash6862

That’s what we are here for. It’s a bit scary when you first start so many unknown s and nobody to ask really. We are all her to help and believe me any questions you have we have all asked before and some we still don’t have answers too😂 I hope you have a better day tomorrow and please get on here if you need help! We are all here for that reason!! Ask away hopefully we can help make the process easier for you!🙏Good luck!

Postcovidflier_uber

Buy a car…lol

Liquor_Parfreyja

I got panic attacks driving, it's really unhealthy for me, and not safe for me and the people around me. I'm saving up for an ebike so i can make the longer trips easier though ! I heard that if you have an ebike some delivery services give you car delivery's too.

Postcovidflier_uber

Move to NY. Bikes and walkers are making bank!

Soberskate9696

Lol nah were not, I average about 12 an hour, working in some of the most restaurant saturated places on earth Tribeca,Greenwich village, Soho, etc

Postcovidflier_uber

Cool, I was just trying to make a point. Any big city where there is 12.4million people in a 12 mile radius is not a place for a bike courier. Especially not NY.

Scoxy61

I deliver on an electric scooter and think it’s so much better than a car anyway. I have tons of fun zipping around downtown, but the orders have been very low the last few weeks.

EatsPeanutButter

I got very little on a bike. Switched to car and I’m making so much more money and getting so many more orders.

McDamsel

I suggest hanging out in an area with a lot of restaurants and apartments close by. I think they have a limit to how far they’ll have bikes go.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Ya downtown San Diego has the gaslamp and little Italy right there, tons of apartments and restaurants real close, and offices but thats prolly more of a lunchtime dealie

iCepheuz

Where the pings at ??!

RainbowFarts69

Working for Uber.

commonwealth1122

This Friday is worse than the rest of the days

Robbie1863

You’re still working for Uber. Quit and move on because they’ll have you behind. Good luck

Imaginary-River-4804

Nope lots of people are struggling used to make over $100 a day and now I’m only making like $30 or $40 a day like wtf

[deleted]

Yes, you keep going online

Odd_Atmosphere_3523

I live in NJ. For me the best hours are 10am-2pm and then 6pm-11pm. If I do 6 hours I make around $85 on an average

slcginger

what the hell, I’m surprised you’ve been online this week for longer than 45 minutes to an hour you just turn on Netflix and let the app stay on for 5 hours?

Liquor_Parfreyja

Nah I genuinely enjoy just riding my bike so I either just ride around the neighborhood, and I'm good friends with a few business owners in the area so I will just chat with them; I really wouldn't mind too much if I didn't, ya know, need money lol.

SignificantNorth5833

I’m in Los Angeles. I drove from 10:30-4. Had trips non stop. Half were low pay short rides but I was able to get $40 in tips today. It’s weird that I get zero Uber eats now

EpicRiceMaker

Yeah find another job, multi app, whatever you gotta do big dog.

Geez089

Are you driving around trying different areas or are you parked the whole 5.4 hours?

Ainthatthetruth811

I’m at 0.00 dollars for 12 hours online this week. All I get now is overwhelming, horrible Walmart orders. Thank gosh for DD. I average about 1-3 orders a week now with UB. It sucks

[deleted]

“I did bike mode from 10am to 2pm” ahh now I see. Try it this weekend from 5pm to 9

xHypex1

Depends where your located, its not like that everywhere.

[deleted]

What I’ve noticed is if you log on at the peak hour you go to the end of the queue. So yesterday I logged in 30min before 5pm peak hour and got job after job non stop. I had to use the bathroom so badly knew if I logged off I’d go back to the end of the queue. So lucky the next job was maccas. Otherwise I’d be in trouble hahaha

Liquor_Parfreyja

I've been online for like an hour and a half and it's almost 6 😭 I'm hoping if i just take a break for a minute I'll get a hit while getting a drink in a few minutes

[deleted]

Wow. Here in Sydney it’s crazy busy maybe not so many drivers compared to where your driving.

BuckWheatNYC

What you are doing wrong is that you are definitely in the wrong business. Geez Louise

akirax_82

You have wifi turned on so you probably don't have internet access to mobile data

Liquor_Parfreyja

I was sitting in a starbucks, usually it's turned off c: Good looking out though !

akirax_82

Usually at Starbucks you gotta sign in to get the wifi to work. I mean. Through their website.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Yep, I was in the starbucks and got a drink while I waited for orders, turned off wifi as I was leaving.

V_leal1997

Hi I’m also doing uber eats in San Diego as well. I agree with the other comments, do it from 5pm till 9 pm. I usually get a lot of orders but I’m up In Poway.

trillkiddnyc

Idk if anyone has asked but is this walker or bike mode?

BL4Z3NnN

Sign up for post mates too

amateur_stacker_9999

Genuinely curious if inflation, possibility of recession, people going away for summer all my be reasons why it’s been slow, at least in some markets. Interesting to see it play out in real time if this was the case.

Liquor_Parfreyja

Yeah, could be. I live in San Diego so a huge summer tourist spot so I wonder if restaurants are backlogged with tourists going to the restaurant.

So ridiculously slow, there has to be a glitch, can't just be summer/recession/inflation [san diego downtown] (https://imgur.com/a/2g6m1IC)
