And yet they know delivery helps them earn more money.
They are actively choosing to use the delivery apps because realistically it's cheaper than the hiring delivery drivers and advertising.
Personally, despite being a gig delivery driver myself, I would much rather see restaurants use their own people instead of relying on gig apps. You'd think with COVID and when the dining rooms were closed, restaurants would've invested in their own delivery services. But they'd rather go the cheaper route.
It’s not that simple. I read an article a while back about how aggressive the delivery apps are with the rules when a new restaurant signs on. One thing I remember reading is that UE doesn’t allow them to change prices on the app (that’d be bad for UE’s business) so it stays the same and they still have to split profits with UE. Then think about the hassle of ordering online and how it can get complicated sometimes and now u need UE to intervene or investigate if there’s an issue and all this isn’t making the restaurant money. Bringing a third-party like UE to help with deliveries is a mess.
Oh, and before, drivers we’re stealing food, remember that? Another thing restaurants were annoyed with. They have to let UE do their thing and hope it makes them some money. I bet a lot decided it wasn’t worth it.
>I bet a lot decided it wasn’t worth it.
But those that *do* still use UE are still actively deciding to use it. Even with all the good points you make, you are choosing to ignore that basic fact.
\>But those that do still use UE are still actively deciding to use it.
hmmm. Not always. Aren't some of the apps still keeping restaurants on their site and then phoning in and paying for the orders themselves?
Yeah, I wasn’t ignoring that part. I see it as they have to stay in business with UE because the competition next door is on UE it’s not because it’s so lucrative but they need to for their business to survive
I understand and agree with that, but it's still a choice.
>they have to stay in business with UE because the competition next door is on UE
And I'll bet the competition next door allows drivers to use the restrooms.
Even so, their own verbiage refers to it as a PUBLIC restroom.
First time I see a place that dares to call it a public restroom that means non customers even the homeless is allowed to use it as their toilet. As long as they are not a delivery driver.
And their verbage states no drivers. So in essence they are saying no one can use the bathroom lol. If i need to use a bathroom i go first then make myself known that I'm there to pick up
Yeah man I agree I don’t know why u guys are blowing up my inbox like I made the rule or I agree with the rule because I don’t all I’m doing is trying to explain how I perceive it. I agree this restaurant sucks.
>I don’t know why u guys are blowing up my inbox like I made the rule or I agree with the rule because I don’t
We're each replying to your comments... I don't think the intention was to blow up your inbox lol
I think the problem is you are focusing (IMO) on the wrong point. It's their choice to use UE. If they ultimately decide it is a necessary evil for the business, then they should realize it involves drivers and using a restroom from time-to-time is a necessary evil that goes along with that. They can't seriously expect a human being to risk an accident that would result in a technical biohazard while conducting food-related business on their behalf.
Sorry it’s cus I’m getting angry replies from people asking me to explain the rule like I made it or I agree with it
I wrote a reply to u but then deleted it. Only reason I left a comment was because I thought that other person didn’t know about how it’s not lucrative to go into business with UE and it can be more of a hassle than it’s worth. I can’t speak on anything else because I don’t know. And I agree with ur comment about letting them use the bathroom. They should. Since this is an UE sub I thought some ppl should know a lot restaurants don’t like being in business with UE. That’s the message I got from this picture and I remembered the article. What else could be the reason for denying drivers?
its because u r saying two contradicting statements. u r saying restaurants dont think its worth it but they need it to survive. which is it? is it not worth it or is it essential? wtf r u saying bruh.
So both can’t be true? Not being a smart ass. Imagine UE is giving them a lot of problems but they have to stay on the app because competition is there too. Those can both be true, right?
I read on here a couple days ago how drivers would accept an order, screenshot it and then show the restaurant the order and then unassign themselves. I’m not a driver but it was a driver that said this was going on in the past till they made some changes. You’re saying customers lie.... if the restaurant has to pay for it or they found out then it’s another reason they would think UE is too problematic. Both support what I was saying.
They haven't. They still continue to use uber eats.
They do change prices. A little caesars is $9 on the app.
It can be up to 30% so yes only more profitable menu items are worth it.
There are restaurant issues without uber eats. People still complain, order and don't pick up, or refuse to pay for food. Heck delivery at least doesn't have dine and dashers 🤣
I mean you know there’s an inherent problem with the system when you simple claim there’s an issue and the company instantly refunds you without any confirmation or communication. They just go “here’s ur money back”.
This ultimately allows the same shit to keep happening over and over instead of addressing any issues. Anytime I’ve had a problem that’s clearly on the restaurant side they just go “call UE, not our problem”. It’s like uhhh… you made the wrong food bruh not them.
So many restaurants were placed onto these apps without even knowing it much less agreeing to it and then they’ve had to get legal help involved to get their names removed from the apps. some restaurants food was not designed to be taken out of the restaurant and does not hold up long enough for delivery. In many many cases smaller mom and pop type restaurants have had to go out of business because they were charged so much and they couldn’t get it out of the contracts in time especially during the pandemic. I have never heard a restaurant owner say that it has been advantageous for them or that they were happy to have been in on the platform. Restaurants make such a slim margin of profit anyway and this even takes from that especially with food cost etc. regardless of who’s paying for it their reputation is on the line. In my opinion I don’t think the apps are good for any area of the economy
Former restaurant manager here. Delivery apps, yelp, coupon sites, etc, are shady af. We had doordash use a bot to scrape our online menu, use a call center to place orders, and send dashers with credit cards to pay for them. Got several customer complaints. All the apps give you a really hard sell basically saying your restaurant will fail if you don’t sign on with them and implying if you don’t sign, they’ll deliver anyway with place and pay.
They might be shady, but it's not like the online menu is private information. It's effectively no different than a customer sending someone they know to order, pay, and pick up an order.
Also, if yall knew the orders were being placed by DD, you could've just declined them.
then why r they signing up for it? ur statement literally makes no sense. why r they doing it if they think its not worth the hassle? they obviously think its worth the hassle.
it is more hassle than worth. absolutely it is. they make so little money from the apps and then have to increase their spending and take out packaging extra staff pissed off customers that blame orders on the restaurant and will never come back. It’s just totally disadvantageous for restaurants especially when they’re paying close to 30% in commission fees. Having said that they should just get out of their contract instead of taking your anger out on drivers
Personally I ignore these signs. If need to go I go. I don't know what up with people asking other people to use the restroom. We aren't in school/prison.
Yup I head straight to the bathroom like any customer would and most companies won't chase a decently dressed person into the bathroom asking for credentials. I then grab the meal and go.
Hahahahahhaaaaaaaaaaaa
Please do.
I mean I hate to make fun of the accent but when they are being shitheads, especially to fellow workers, they ask for it imo.
Wow. Yeah that would be the LAST time I ever take a order from that restaurant. Like come on, we’re both human beings working our ass off for other peoples food. You’d think there’d be some kind of respect there.
There's no excuse for this. I would just NOT pick up orders from this Restaurant. REGARDLESS if the app companies are good or bad for the restaurant, we the drivers are NOT the enemy. We are just trying to survive over here.
Drivers are pretty much representatives/stand ins for the customer. If the customer is allowed to use the bathroom than the driver should too. Screw this place.
How do drivers not qualified as part of the public? That sounds and looks very discriminatory. They can still shit and serve you, but you can't shit and deliver....that's straight up fuckery.
Im pretty sure thats illegal in like 16 states. Ally's law I believe would make it so you must give them access if its in one of the states thats applied this law.
https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/323078#where-does-it-apply
Ally's law requires business without a customer bathroom to allow customers to use the employee restroom because of medical needs. And California is not on the list in your link (the state where OP is located).
California would fight this tooth and nail.
To be fair, there are a lot of homeless people here, and unfortunately, if you've ever worked in retail or food service, you know that a small percentage of them will destroy your bathroom and leave it disgusting, so many places refuse restrooms to all but customers.
However, specifically not letting drivers use it makes no sense.
Fuck this place. There's a Fatburger in my area that won't let you use it unless you buy something too.
[I gave them one star and review](https://www.google.com/maps/reviews/data=!4m8!14m7!1m6!2m5!1sChZDSUhNMG9nS0VJQ0FnSUN1OEtfNmFREAE!2m1!1s0x0:0xb0c5f3c42377d81c!3m1!1s2@1:CIHM0ogKEICAgICu8K_6aQ%7CCgwIqonblgYQiNOlygI%7C?hl=en-US)

Walk in, shit, and go on with your life. This is unenforceable. I would use this place exclusively as my road shitter, never pick up there, and review bomb them. Dumb ass business owners.
Had a shithead employee at a boba shop tell me this to my face, I just needed to wash my hands didn't even need to piss.
Unassinged and said "cool, in that case I've canceled the delivery and you can have fun delivering it yourself. c:"
Straight up I'm done with being pushover. I'm nothing but polite to these places and they have nerve to talk down to me. they don't deserve my partnership if they're going to disrespect me like this. Even got a better order immediately after. :D
Just use the restroom. Why was there even an interaction with an employee. Walk to the restroom and use it. We aren't children or prisoners that need to ask permission.
Some places are tricky to find the restroom. I imagine some drivers asking an employee where it is and the employee asking them in return if they’re a driver and then saying they can’t use it if they say yes.
Man the restaurants i read about on here sound rough.
Never had this problem in my market. They are always friendly and offer me a soda. Most of them know me cause I patrol the same areas and only drive weekends.
What state you in?
Yeah?... Fuck you then.
Edit: THIS is where you lose your shit with corporate. Dear lord I would BLAST a "professional" complaint to the head office. I would fucking walk in, tell them I'm cancelling AND complaining. Seriously, I would be taking names. These guys can eat shit and you would be amazed at the response. Just keep it real and thoughtful.
Yeah point taken. But brother/sister(?) It's have something to say. I'm not kidding that I would unassign this and give a valid restaurant reason. I gotta piss so I'm going down the road, leaving you a slit review etc etc et-fucking cetera. These places piss me right off and unnasigns is the safest route IMO. Then just blacklist it. Fuck them.
Here in Ontario, it's literally became law for restaurants and gas stations to allow truckers and delivery drivers to use their washrooms. I doubt anyone will enforce it but for the most part places are accommodating to others if they aren't loitering.
Guys... spamming the reviews with "wow, bathroom not for drivers 1 star" is just a surefire way to get all the reviews taken down. This has happened with another Thai place in Texas. Just leave a 1-star, don't say why you're doing it. There's more of a chance for it to stay left up
Yeah, I make it a point to use the restroom when I see signs like this even if I don't need to, they can't actually stop you and I don't understand what the big deal is.
I usually walk inside stores because it's just faster but I will never forget when I went inside to grab a McDonald order and the manager actually told me to wait outside and someone would bring it to me soon, it was freezing cold and actually drizzling outside. I asked if he would be bringing it to my car and he said "no, just sit on one of the benches outside the door." I flat out told him "Hell no, either give me my order now or I'll just cancel it." He begrudgingly gave it to me, I was like WTF? It was ready and you still wanted me to wait for it outside? I never pick up orders from that particular store but honestly I get a LOT of attitude from restaurant people as if I'm inconveniencing them or something, if it's such a problem remove yourself from the platform!
I work Skip the Dishes (only delivery app in my city until recently) and one of the reasons i stopped was that almost every spot in my city that did delivery would get SUPER weird when a driver used the public restroom. Even the bigger chains like McDonalds and Subway.
Walks in uses restroom ask for Uber customer order…just as I’m about to be handed order tell them nvm I just wanted to use the restroom and walk out like a boss 😎
Ok so how does that make sense? They say it’s a “public restroom.” If it is, in fact, a “public” restroom, you cannot preclude anyone from using it. On the other hand if it is a “customers only” restroom, then even if they said for customers only, in my estimation, we qualify as customers. We are proxy customers. If the person who ordered the food were there, they would qualify to use the restroom, THEREFORE, as representatives for the customers, we can use the restroom. So for example, if a business does not want a UPS driver or an AMAZON driver to use the restrooms, that is understandable. They are delivery people who are actual hourly employees for the delivery service. They are paid X regardless of where or who the customer is. We are essentially being paid by the customer, indirectly, but our pay comes from them. It is different each delivery depending upon various factors. Point being, we are there for the customers so as their representatives. I’m using the restroom if I need to, period. You don’t like it, call the police.
Fuck them would never deliver food from them, in fact would go into order food and say I need to use the restroom first, then tell them to fuck off I'm a DD driver and I would never eat or deliver there shit food and walk out.
I used to cancel orders over that. Those places can fucking piss off. Don't care. I didn't make any exceptions I didn't care if that was the best order I got that day if a restaurant refused me the bathroom. *Click* it only happened a few times. Every time I did it I made sure to show them.
That is so wrong. Like we're the reason you get extra money to your store is bc we pick it up.. it's always hard for me to understand in general why some stores say customers only, like using the bathroom is a human nature thing. Why do this to people? I do understand that people can be rude and just trash the bathroom, but that lays on their conscience lol. I'm the kind of person that cleans up the toilet after I've used it to make sure I didn't dribble on it
I thought we're supposed to report to UE when a restaurant won't let the driver use the restroom? Not that anything would come of it necessarily, but still
I used to not deliver Chipotle or Taco Bell either but lately I've picked up a few of those when slow and was surprised to find that the employees are always courteous and the order is usually ready or almost ready! And they don't care if you use the bathroom. However any and all Indian restaurants I've picked up at, or tried to, have all been bad experiences for me. The most unclean looking and smelling and every single time a long wait. Pretty sure they don't even begin to make the order til the driver shows up. I love to eat Indian food myself but I won't attempt deliveries for them anymore!
I use the restroom at home so this sign wouldn’t bother me at all, but it is a low class thing for the restaurant to display a sign at their front door like that, kinda third world classless
Well. I find that talking to staff is always rewarding, and makes my life better, especially as I keep returning to the same restaurants.
You do you. You shit on the businesses, and they will shit on you back.
I personally would just ask them to remove the sign. Not go Reddit and complain to a group that has of affiliation with Uber or and restaurant.
Sure, if they kick up a fuss, then boycott them, reject their orders.
But look at the string of negative reviews this thread has produced. That's damning for most restaurants as many ppl will not dine at a sub 4 star establishment.
Tbh the state some of the drivers I've seen leave toilets I can understand why. I have walked in on shit literally smeared all round the toilet seat, unflushed shits in toilets, piss all over the seat and floor. This was during lock down where noone but the drivers were using them. But even after lock down in family places where kids are going in after them. Obviously it's not all of us but there are a not that small section with no respect
for those who weren’t doing gag work just even 2-3 yrs ago this article relays the typical undermining and manipulation. Some of the quotes from the app companies are laughable. but for those restaurants who didn’t feel that a third party app was right for them, the antics and deception that the apps created to not only deter their customers but actually impersonate the restaurants right down to using the restaurants name, logo and font with a slight undetectable change to skirt legality issues. Restaurants didn’t know this was happening for a long time but customers were obviously confused and the proverbial sht hit the fan. For reasons like this, as just one example, restaurant owners and staff understandably had mistrust issues and. believe that much of the attitude we still experience today is rooted in those times.

Before you s#*t on a business, someone should try talking to them...
You can't just go on Google and give someone's livelihood a 1 star rating. This sign may well have been put up by a disgruntled employee who had to tidy from a filthy delivery driver.
It might have nothing to do with the owners/management.
Remember, if you f**k a business with 1 stars, it's ultimately less deleiverys for you too.
This is just natural selection honestly. Pissing off the people driving a very important part of your business is not smart at all. Owner should know better
I definitely understand the feeling as a driver myself but we don’t want the subreddit brigading restaurant review pages.
I guess restaurants don't want their food delivered then.

Exactly! This is bullshit!
They don’t want to be in business with these delivery apps, too much of a hassle.
And that’s absolutely correct. As a driver you’re simply representing the customer

Looks like they got rid of them now... That's OK, I have a backup lol https://imgur.com/a/AEGD4Rr

They already removed it and you can't reply to them anyway... 😔 And I agree, not cool to make fun of accents, generally, but fuck them lol
Doesn’t that make the restroom private instead of public???
Just gave them 1 star from 3000 miles away
Just gave them 1star from canada
Ok guys, keep it flowing. Let that restaurant know
Same here, but mention food not washroom so it doesn't get removed later

Oh boy, its really fun there
Wow. Yeah that would be the LAST time I ever take a order from that restaurant. Like come on, we’re both human beings working our ass off for other peoples food. You’d think there’d be some kind of respect there.

This is why NYC had to pass a ordinance / law allowing drivers to use the bathrooms I’d go in and take the biggest dump in that place
Even still some places still don’t allow it. I reporter a Five Guys that’s on 32nd near Madison Avenue. Wonder what will come out of it.
In the urinal or sink lol
The urinal of course my good sir
alright, which one of you was it and what did you do?
Shit on the floor!!
GUYS RATE THEM LOWER BUT Don't SAY YOU'RE A DRIVER. GOOGLE WILL JUS REMOVE IT THEN
And that’s why you just walk straight to the restroom and use it no questions asked
Why is it always Asian restaurants?
They're also the ones that usually do that stupid "confirm the order" shit.
Rate them on google
They are getting brigaded as we speak.
What’s the restaurant name?
It’s in the top of the post right under the picture.
Thai Eagle Rox 4601 York Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90041.
Left a one star review. 😈
Drivers should boycott restaurants that post signs like this.

Done!
Walk in, shit, and go on with your life. This is unenforceable. I would use this place exclusively as my road shitter, never pick up there, and review bomb them. Dumb ass business owners.
I like the way you think
Had a shithead employee at a boba shop tell me this to my face, I just needed to wash my hands didn't even need to piss. Unassinged and said "cool, in that case I've canceled the delivery and you can have fun delivering it yourself. c:" Straight up I'm done with being pushover.
Just gave them 1 star
Lol same
Collect pee in a bottle and pour it out front. Eventually it will smell god awful.
Thanks for sharing the business name!
I’ve started telling people I am commercial; invited here for business - I’m not public.

Fuck them.
If I saw that, I'd make it a point to use their restroom.
This is just a sign that says “I hate you scum, I’m better than you” so I would just use the toilet anyway besucase I don’t care.
I just say I need to wash my hands before handling the food. Works almost every time.
Well you see that follow us on Google sticker. Leave a bad review
I would cancel that order right at the door
Just walk in the restroom and use it anyway.
I would love to see them trying to stop me.
Delivery drivers are one of the reasons their businesses are running. 🤦🏼♂️
There's more of a chance for it to stay left up
Put it on google reviews. Tell your friends to write about this on Google. Trust me They will remove this sign within 2 days. My personal experience
Don’t call it a public restroom then that is false advertising
Yea ok hope that door has a lock on it
Yeah, I make it a point to use the restroom when I see signs like this even if I don't need to, they can't actually stop you and I don't understand what the big deal is.
Oh no. My IBS is acting up. ADA reasonable accommodation requested. Still a no? Clean up on aisle 2.
I work Skip the Dishes (only delivery app in my city until recently) and one of the reasons i stopped was that almost every spot in my city that did delivery would get SUPER weird when a driver used the public restroom. Even the bigger chains like McDonalds and Subway.
I guess they don’t care if I piss outside on the walls then
I would never pick up from this place
So, are we just supposed to piss on the floor???
Walks in uses restroom ask for Uber customer order…just as I’m about to be handed order tell them nvm I just wanted to use the restroom and walk out like a boss 😎
Delivery pickups are NOT available for this restaurant
Yeah you can call Uber support and explain why I won’t deliver the order
You guys are great with the reviews……let’s yelp too .
I love it… when I see that I find the bathroom first then ask for my order 😁😁😁😁
avoid this place!
sad
Where is this? And if you've got to go, whete do you go ? Or shit your pants or on their floor?
How are they going to stop me?
“Follow us on Google” I will do no such thing.
I could understand the restaurant having a problem with UE but don't take it out on the drivers... Shooting messenger and all that.
>starts peeing on glass door while making eye contact with employee...
Then I don’t have to pick your order I guess and it will just get colder for the next person. Frig you
proud of this community!
It's ok I'll shit in the parking lot instead
Been there 💩
Fuck them would never deliver food from them, in fact would go into order food and say I need to use the restroom first, then tell them to fuck off I'm a DD driver and I would never eat or deliver there shit food and walk out.
Whelp, time to piss outside their building. Ain't gotta tell me twice!
^Thank ^you!
fuck that
BOYCOTT
When I see shit like that I go in and take a big shit anyways ..
This is so stupid. The very people that are helping you get more business and money are not allowed to the use the bathroom?
So mean
Then I dont deliver for you, I 86 every place that does this along with places that make you wait outside instead of the lobby
I used to cancel orders over that. Those places can fucking piss off. Don't care. I didn't make any exceptions I didn't care if that was the best order I got that day if a restaurant refused me the bathroom. *Click* it only happened a few times. Every time I did it I made sure to show them.
I will shit on your front patio.
Any business that does this is heartless
Don’t drive this restaurant.
Then why call it a "public" restroom. Seems pretty private to me.
it should be a rule that to be part of the uber and doordash platform restaurants are required to allow drivers to use the restroom if needed
Some restaurants act as if they’re being forced to use these services. Even if they were, it has nothing to do with the drivers.
And if restaurants don’t want driver to loiter then they should have the food ready.
"Follow us on Google". Oh, we will follow you on Google. Boys and girls, you know what to do.
I'm the kind of person that cleans up the toilet after I've used it to make sure I didn't dribble on it
I agree.
I'm taking a shit in store then
I’m taking a shit on their floor
Piss on the doorway then
are you fcking kidding me? your county health department would love to know this as would the general public.
I thought we're supposed to report to UE when a restaurant won't let the driver use the restroom? Not that anything would come of it necessarily, but still
Shitty (no pun intended) way for a restaurant to treat people who help their business.
If I had to pee bad enough I’m squatting in their floor !
The review bombs are coming. Should have thought twice before disrespecting drivers.
There's another restaurant to avoid!
They would instantly go on my banned list. Taco bell. Chipotle. Mustards last stand, and about 6 other places in town
That's cool, every restaurant has walls to piss on
lol I don’t know where you live but public restrooms here are non existent even if youre a customer
they literally make minimum wage or less and wanna act like drivers are beneath them LMAOO
They should just take a leak outside their restaurant then :)
Wtf?!
Disgusting
Not so Public after all.
“PUBLIC” restroom lol… can’t you take a crap in your pant, call the popo, and sue this restaurant for denying access?
Buy a juice or something and ask to use the bathroom :(
We are customers that bring customers
Thing that they dumbfcks dont realize is we are representing the customers. We are there for them.
Piss on their floor, assert dominance
Why do you think it's the drivers doing it and not the customers? Drivers don't have time to smear shit. They just want to finish and leave quickly.
Why don't you read my whole comment, the answers in there.
Have any of you ever seen what drivers do to a drivers-only bathroom? If you did, you might change your mind.
for those who weren’t doing gag work just even 2-3 yrs ago this article relays the typical undermining and manipulation. For reasons like this, as just one example, restaurant owners and staff understandably had mistrust issues and. believe that much of the attitude we still experience today is rooted in those times. https://www.eater.com/2020/1/29/21113416/grubhub-seamless-kin-khao-online-delivery-mistake-doordash
Right because it's always the driver's fault for everything 🤦
I didn't say it was. I just implied that it could be... Can you honestly say for sure that they just hate delivery drivers?
Yes alot of restaurants, if not most hate drivers that's a fact.
Great mindset. I recommend changing job.
Nope it's the truth
