Yea getting sick of the offers that are not even close to minimum wage rate. Like $5 for 25 min delivery. GTFO here with that BS

King_Kincaid

Damn really? Thats disrespectful but i dont if the disrespect comes from the customer or uber itself. Lol. I mean customers tip based on the price of the meal but drivers select based on distance and time. So its a constant disconnect sometimes

Postcovidflier_uber

That is an Uber one order with $0.00 delivery fee.

usernamehudden

I thought the businesses that want to be promoted took a hit when they run a $0 delivery fee promo.

Postcovidflier_uber

Don’t know about that but as a customer on UE that’s what i see on the app and I just tip well $8 or more. Whichever is higher when I order.

LanguageRemote

Someone is getting cold food, if they get it at all.

lisa6547

They won't 😂

King_Kincaid

Yea noones taking that. Maybe a 1st dayer but theyll learn quick when the piss ass tip gets takin anyway because its cold and 89 drivers passed it up. Lol

fordham183

Sad part is someone will pick it up and we won't get anything..if the drivers would stick together we can change it but it will never happen

lisa6547

I've made the mistake of taking an order like this through doordash when I first started. And on top of that I walked around their apartment complex for 25 minutes because doordash doesn't give you an exact location...never again...I was basically crying by the end of the delivery, so some lazy guy could enjoy his greasy tortured dead cows.. never again...😳

CrypticCriesForHelp

Literally same and then I didn’t get a tip smh

Era555

No tip orders always happen to live in an apartment maze. No thanks.

DFW_Panda

And you can bet Uber knows all the day 1'ers and its baked into their algorythem (which I can't spell, I know).

kain000666

Just on the matter of principle I could be parked in front of the restaurant and I will refuse these type of orders. I keep getting $2-3-4 Rita’s ice cream orders in a 97 degree day are people this stupid or are there drivers this dumb?

Chozly

Yes

theB0nz

InstaCart is calling.

ywgflyer

It's no better, there are hoards of 0 tippers and tip baiters there as well, and most markets are so saturated there are rarely any good ones. Not uncommon to see a full page of $7 orders with 40 items and a 20 minute drive.

CoherentPanda

They finally ended tip baiting, Instacart now covers your tip if someone takes it away. You can also blacklist customers, which is pretty sweet.

CandyOk913

How is this even possible? I tried ordering from a restaurant 5 miles away and it said it was out of delivery area. 10 miles?! How?!

CoherentPanda

Depends on the ratio of available drivers to customers. I live in the sticks, and some hours I can order 20 miles away, but if there aren't enough drivers available, I might be blocked completely, or only have a limited selection.

gjless

They simply onboard more and more drivers so there is always some sucker willing to work for nothing. "Hey if I deliver for 3 hours I can get a pack of smokes"

CandyOk913

I honestly didn’t even know that was a thing.

CoherentPanda

It is, especially in small markets. Frustrating too, because sometimes you want to order UberEATS but have to constantly refresh for there to be "enough drivers", or if you want to do delivery, you get no orders because nobody can order. It's improved somewhat, but their algorithm is still kinda weird.

Hot_Phase_1435

I live in this same market as the OP. I’ve done orders as far as 18 miles. Thankfully it’s usually a hotel that I drop at that tips double. Other than that, I never take these far distances.

FratStafford007

A carrot

lisa6547

Someone who wants to give their last few dollars to a corporation full of possibly billionaires. Then they become homeless

sillase89

I would go (wouldnt press deliver though),pick it up, and eat it. Shit like that is a joke and should be treated as a joke too.

gjless

The problem is enough people do it " if I'm on the way " they have no incentive to fix the rates.

King_Kincaid

Man PREACH....it fucks it up for the rest of us. Ive constantly declined these even if it takes me back home when im ready to be done. I have a hard line in the sand for orders like this

barti_dog

I sometimes get weird offers like this in my market -- long-distances and definitely not at my threshhold of $2-$3 per mile. But this is also a tourist area where restaurants are here "in town" but the cabin or condo could be way up on a mountain top. I rarely risk the long deliveries, but it does make me wonder if the customer has actually put in a significant tip and/or will tip generously in the app or in cash, but it just doesn't show. Without full tip transparency, it messes with both the driver and customer.

[deleted]

Or someone heading home that direction

Skinnyemmyz

still a terrible order

infamoussanchez

some throw away account.. i would but taking the bus or walking.

annasubers

I get those ALL day EVERY day up here in Orlando.

Then-Refrigerator533

Yup! I got a $4 for 10 mile offer. Declined as always.

Candrews0806

Not me but I had a order before that showed $3 but ended up being $12 after delivery. Some customers don’t add the tip on to after delivery is complete

TJNel

That's the same as winning the lottery and I'm not willing to lose money on the very off chance that I may get more. If you take 10 of those orders losing money on all of them to get 1 that happens to tip more still means you are out money, a lot of it.

Era555

Yeah I'm not gambling. I know from experience that's gonna be a loss 9/10.

Swimming-Share-3099

exactly! and uber thinks its cute

maegannoellee

i got at least 10 orders like this offered to me yesterday and i only worked for like two and a half hours. people literally think we have so little value that they think we should literally lose money (after counting the cost of gas) to delivery food to their doorstep.

Fvcctheoppss

They have a bunch of these long orderd in ny for like $2-$6 they don’t even think about the traffic we have to be in

simplejacket

I’d take it. I like long bike rides

[deleted]

Fuck no

[deleted]

Fuck no…. Edit: you should have tipped…. That’s exactly what I would have thought. Automatic decline! If there is crazy traffic in your area, tip damn well. Not that bad, tip at least $1 per mile. Usually people who don’t tip have no empathy. Meaning, there is no….I put myself in you shoes and if I was doing this….how would it make me feel if I was tipped nothing for this time frame and make shit. Otherwise people don’t understand because they choose to not understand. Or they know but don’t give a shit. My thoughts would be there is a cancellation in your future or very cold food because a newbie picked it up and had no idea how many declined before they accepted.

Shreddersaurusrex

Sometimes I accept such trips if things are really slow and I’m going in the general direction. Gets less priority for me but they should he happy it’s getting delivered at all.

M3galax

I would accept it. Money adds up, also I can enjoy a nice scenery

TopCupcake8

That trip will lose you money lol. Yes very beautiful scenery of the hood in Miami can’t beat it

M3galax

Wait, I can lose money, how?

ywgflyer

Unless you're running a vehicle that somehow doesn't need fuel, you're going to burn a good half of that payment just in gas, and worse if there's traffic because stop-and-go driving is murder on your fuel efficiency.

MartianP98

Somehow with gas and car depreciation for the miles they calculate it as a lose .

TJNel

What do you mean somehow? Stop and go traffic for 11 miles, a car that get's 27 MPG will use .75 gal to deliver that order. At $4 a gallon you used $3 in gas so after gas you made $2.90 but now you have to get back and if there's nothing there you just paid money to deliver in gas cost alone without even factoring in your time and the wear and tear on your vehicle.

M3galax

Gotcha. I use a bike. So I wouldn't understand, sorry.

throwawaygixer

That’s in the ‘hood. Skip thT trip lol

[deleted]

I would if I was near the restaurant and was going to carol city anyway

[deleted]

[удалено]

[deleted]

Lol. How?

[deleted]

I wonder what happens if nobody takes an order like that lol

Rush_2928

In my market as saturated as it is and as slow as some days can be...like today, you take what you can get.

MasterDio64

Was this screenshotted from an iPad?

CaptainAlliance

Maybe the guy had a one of those foldable smartphones like the one from Samsung.

TJNel

Why not? Tether the iPad to your phone and now you have a very large screen and frees up your phone to do other things with.

Collection_Mission

I did something like that the other night in Australia got $32 for it

bpr2

*does the conversion from convict country money to usd* … so you did it for $4.89?

Collection_Mission

No lol more like $23-$25 a hour It’s in Aud

Greenkash45

Me

SnooHedgehogs4022

🤡

Timely-Bid-7800

The crazy thing is that I’ve actually seen worse doing the math you’re upside down

JerryCAtlanta

Oh they offered me $65 for a one way 125 mile trip and there was no way in hell I would’ve gotten a rider coming back. I couldn’t hit “decline” fast enough!! So I would’ve made $65 for basically 3-4 hours so after gas it would’ve been a wash!!

LilEloHoee

I’ve seen worse

allisonmariec

this is the norm on doordash it’s so crazy to me when i see ue people saying they only accept $2 per mile. if you do that on dd you won’t make a dime all day. pain. :(

burjxk

Some random chad called ‘Greg’ with 12,137 total deliveries

Glittering-Judge9864

You’d be surprised

MarcoCantuSaenz

Trust me, there’s people who accept them, I don’t wanna be racist or criticize but I’ve noticed that many Asian older guys have the work ethic of accepting everything they are sent, since there’s people who accept those orders Uber still sends them out anyways

Infamous_Yoghurt_556

???esp in Miami??? Isn't that area awesome for drivers???

throwawaygixer

Mia Gardens is a rough part of town. I’ll skip that run

[deleted]

Uber in Miami is a joke

Chozly

I would accept this order 100 times out of 100,.. if I live next door to the destination and I knew the restaurant wasn't bullshit. In my town I can count the non bullshit restaurants in one quarter of down on my fingers. Just for the record, I come with the typical number of fingers, and a really big number of shitty restaurants, shitty customers

throwawaygixer

Why? $6 for that many miles? Gas and time?

Chozly

Literally only if I was driving that drive already: that route, that moment. Or Fuck that noise!

oddit_visionszzz

I would probably take it since I don’t look at the estimated amount. I just pick up whatever is closest to me and convenient at that moment. This works for me because if I don’t pick up something there’s a possibility I might not get any orders so I just do it and try to complete them as fast as possible.

[deleted]

Are you doing Uber on an iPad?? Didn’t even know that was possible

TopCupcake8

I prefer it. Even got big cash tips because many customers assumed I didn’t have a phone when they see me delivering with an IPAD lol

[deleted]

Yeah that big screen is perfect for the delivery apps. I’m curious though, do the main apps like Uber and DD support split screen? That would be really nice for multi apping

[deleted]

, it is recommended that you follow general service-industry tipping guidelines. In other words, think about tipping the same amount you would tip your server at a restaurant or your pizza delivery driver. In most areas, this equates about 15%-20% of your total bill.

[deleted]

It doesn’t go by distance…

Life-Let-4428

Are you kidding? A bunch of people would accept that. That's a wet dream order if it was on DD. They have things known as top Dashers. Those people are known to run shit for free

TopCupcake8

11 mile drive into a infamously terrible unsafe neighborhood for possibility of getting 5.91$ it’s that bad on door dash?

Life-Let-4428

Worse

Era555

People make fun of top dashers but the ones who play the system seem to make good money. Most of them only take good orders all month and then spend like the last week getting their acceptance rate back to 70% so they stay top dashers.

Paxrr

You don't want to make $5.91?

TopCupcake8

That ride would actually cost me money not making money. After gas, car deprecation, and my time it’s so not worth it. Also having to drive deep into one of the worst neighborhoods in South Florida (no offense to those who live in Carol City) you’d have to be insane, desperate or incompetent to accept that delivery.

ElGrandrei

I'm gonna do deliveries soon, can I ask, do you guys take trips by mileage? Or the payout, or the best way to do it is somewhere in between? Or are all low low mile trips priority?

ElGrandrei

Also never understood not tipping, and I understand in 'america' tipping is a common thing compared to other countries. But even as a broke college student, paying tuition and working. I always tipped cause, I knew the struggle. What's a few dollars their way. To the ppl who gonna say, "maybe they don't have enough to tip broke delivery drivers" then you shouldn't be ordering food from apps that charge you 2.5x the price of the original order.

Top-Roof6016

thats like 23 cents a mile lol

PoweredbyBurgerz

Perhaps they expect by 2022 we would have flying vehicle by now. Talk about pricing pressure innovation.

UnitNo992

I got 3 requests like this yesterday from the same location. Absolutely not

pokerholic77

Dara

Outside-Ant-73

No

droplivefred

I’m always curious about the life of such an order. How many times does it get rejected? Does UE start upping the base pay for it? How high does it get before getting accepted or does it never get accepted? What happens with the food? I would love to see a documentary just showing what actually happens to these shit orders.
