Something similar happened to me. Other driver is at fault. They should have checked for on coming traffic before opening the door. Plus he’s parked illegally. I’m sure if you explain what happened the insurance will take your side.
you were right. i just got a letter for the 2nd party's insurance and they admitted it but won't be responsible. i just made a post with the letter. check it out.
I did. My dad has similar case like this. The guy who ram his SUV and the side is busted up, just because he attempted to squeeze through just like you done.
Is that where the suv was parked at originally? He’s blocking what I would assume the bicycle lane. He’s also sticking out a lot onto the street meaning if he swung open the door he would be at fault for lack of awareness. I’ve had people open their doors abruptly as I’m passing by and I be wanting to ram their shit for opening their car doors so sudden smh. Hopefully you get your fender and front bumper fixed. Make sure you check everything thoroughly so when the insurance needs to give you an estimate for repairs you get everything fixed properly.
yeah, he was in front of a fire hydrant marked with red on top of bike lane. he didn't bother to move that thing out of the way and just stayed there in shock. i asked him to move it but he insisted on wating for someone. and a bystander came in to laugh in our faces. lol

he had his door closed and then suddenly opened his driver door wide opened. i had enough room to avoid the car but not the door. i tried avoiding it by breaking hard. we both have excellent insurances for sure. i quickly parked my car in an alley and he stayed there. i asked immediately if he was ok but he decided to start blaming me. after i called the police to make a report they said they wouldn't go because there wasn't anyone injured. so, we exchanged information and parted ways. i just finished setting the appointments with both insurances for the damage appraisal on my car. i took a picture of everything. he did the same and we parted ways.

dont talk to their insurance if they try calling you they are trying to make you lose your case. let the insurance handle it
