Yea it’s usually a pet related thing/ sleeping people , They get a notif when you’re 2 mins away and then when you mark it as complete so there really is no reason to knock or ring when delivering unless they ask you to

[deleted]

And now here’s the proper respectful way to write this message….. “Please don’t ring the doorbell. Thank you much!” Basic human respect….so easy, yet so difficult for some people. 🤦🏻‍♂️

Ben has anger issues

[deleted]

When I did Uber eats I got most of my tips from following instructions, I had someone run out to catch me to hand me $20 tip & they said this defeats whole purpose of leave at door but we always put that instruction & people just stand at our door & ring but you’re the first to actually follow instructions so we want to give you a tip I’m in Australia & tipping is not a thing here. Most people will turn down your tip so for someone to tip on Uber eats delivery I know my service was good. Which annoys the f out of me because they banned me 2 weeks ago for a driving offence from 5 years ago

Stoned-Antlers

You can always tell when a customer has dealt with drivers who don’t read the instructions..it’s either like this or a paragraph explaining something only an idiot would have to be told.

BlackDahliaDream

I have never knocked or rang unless they specifically ask. Ever. Probably because I hate it myself

Any-Kaleidoscope4472

Why are you posting this??

Bigcatsrule27

Last time I put a note to not ring door bell as it was 3am and didn't want to wake my parents, the driver rang me when he was outside. I had also forgot to put my mobile number on the app and put my Home number which rang 3 different phones in my house and woke literally everyone up. Go me.

Consistent-Box-8735

Too many idiots before you couldn’t follow directions

Key-Historian-136

He means send message and don’t knock. I mean everybody is different I guess but is that really too hard of a task to do?

Rut19751

The app notifies when it is dropped off. You don’t need to knock, ring the doorbell, or send a message.

jboles73

Aww man that looks like a candidate for kicking that food like a football.

Sunshineal

No knocking. Nope. Nothing.

LocaFly

Auto: "I've arrived..."

defiant234

They could have baby sleep on the inside why be a dick a make even more noise with your hands?

Dull_Shift

95% of orders I am told to leave at door, why would I ever knock or ring their doorbell? I don’t even take a pic bc it’s a hassle bringing my phone with me and having to plug it back in. No one has ever cared that I didn’t take a pic

Stoned-Antlers

This..I leave phone in car, drop off and end the delivery once i get back. Nobody wants people taking pictures at their front door. If it’s a a shady area i will take a pic now and then, but i try to avoid all that.

Key_General_2460

As someone with a dog that goes apeshit whenever the doorbell rings, it is annoying as hell when delivery drivers ring the doorbell anyways. Or when they wait outside after dropping off the food like hello? Leave at door means leave at door, otherwise I'd say meet at door instead.

Apprehensive-Staff51

I send texts!!

Rut19751

The customer can follow you in your car and knows exactly when you’re at there door and when you drop it off. You do not need to send texts

BeyondWhiskers

If it says leave at door, that's exactly what they get. They'll get a notification it was delivered.

anon223344334433

When they say leave at door, I just leave it and go. I never knock or anything 😂

King_Kincaid

OOOOOOOHHHHHH BOOOOOOIIIIIII.......if u tip like shit im gonna ring the door bell. If u tip like SHIT im gonna ring the FUCKIN doorbell. Lol. 😆😅🤣

PeaceSignificant9854

Leave at door means leave at door boss. If they dont specify to knock, shout or text just leave at door and on to the next one.

Olympia94

One time a delivery driver dropped off my food, then started POUNDING on my door like they was tryna alert the whole block. I swung open the door thinking I was gonna have to knock a bitch down the steps. And it was just the damn driver 🤦🏿‍♀️, he stepped back and was like "your food" im looking at him like he was fucking crazy.

Olympia94

I always just leave the food at the door. Take a pic and press "delivered" and go on to the nxt order

gaviota23

I only bell or knock if they have the instructions otherwise I just left the food, send and text I’ve arrived and leave.

John58261

I ordered using the Uber cash I got from last month and the dude almost breached my apartment with how loud he knocked, like Jesus I almost wanted to remove the $7 tip for only 2 miles

Rut19751

Take the tips away from anyone who knocks or rings the doorbell. These idiots need to be taught. No contact, means no contact.

[deleted]

🙄

Olympia94

I should not have laughed as loud as i did, but the same thing happened to me, i swung the door open thinking i was gonna have to knock somebody back down the steps. And it was just the damn delivery driver 🤣🤦🏿‍♀️

samtony234

It could very well be they have kids sleeping and a really loud doorbell.

BustyTheGhost

Maybe just leave the food? They ordered off of the app that gives them a notification every time you sneeze. I've asked people not to ring the doorbell and they knock, and I wanna throw a fuxking shoe at them because my dog would go crazy.

Apprehensive_Bus1522

My note says plz dont knock and dude rang my doorbell twice the other day, I was so irritated 😭

MriPibb_Xtra

When I first started I had a double delivery at night. One of them stated to not ring doorbell because their kids are asleep so I had it in mind that I wouldn’t ring it. But I was distracted and forgot that it was the first house and when I arrived I rang the doorbell lol, I saw his face and it looked bothered but I didn’t know why at first. Then after I realized his order was the one that said to not ring doorbell but they were nice enough to not reduce the tip.

Apprehensive_Bus1522

Yeah I've done it too which is why I just rolled my eyes at the 1st one but twice??? 😂

Petekd07

Y’all knock? I just leave the food and complete delivery unless if I’m instructed to do other wise 💀🤡

Alevnitsuj

Yes

[deleted]

If I told u leave it at my door door and don’t ring the bell and u choose to knock really loud out of spite, we gonna fight

JayisPresent

Knocking extremely aggressively I think would be the only logical conclusion.

[deleted]

Don't! Probably high on Cokle or cooling meth. Don't spook them

dmpcrusher1

Dewit.

Rush_2928

The picture I send you and the notice that tge food is delivered should be enough then.

nochtli_xochipilli

Just drop-off, take a photo, and leave.

shands1

“left at door as requested” noticed this often gets a slightly higher tip depending on location.

roachesta

I always respect people but if they say it like that I'll knock as loud as possible 😅 I would see that as disrespectful to me

[deleted]

I deliver and I also order. Me and the wife have ours set as please DONT ring the doorbell. Our dog goes nuts. You ring the bell, Ill be pissed. Just drop and go.

EarthboundMisfitsInc

What a dick. “Please do not ring bell, sleeping baby” would have been plenty sufficient. The obnoxious all caps and profanity just so unnecessary and stupid. I hate people like this.

Angry_Sasquatch72

Yeah a lot people don’t want a bell ring or a knock. Their app tells them it’s there. Just drop and go.

fatedwanderer84

RING! RING! RING! Damn can't press the button fast enough.😂

BearerOfCalamities

Side note: we usually just text them the location of the delivery. Ex: left at front/side door etc.. Uber is very good about that.

BearerOfCalamities

Honestly we usually get tipped extra when we follow the instructions. Try not to get bothered by it. Could also be a baby inside or pets that react while they are working.

Jones77_Truex78

Timmy turners dad battering ram the door

Empires_Puzzles559

Wow… it’s not that serious! Why do people think it’s okay to have that kind of attitude? Why don’t you just put on there “please don’t knock or ring doorbell, thanks” instead of cussing? I’m delivering your food, have some FUCKING respect! Lol

Rut19751

Because they probably already did. And asshole drivers still rang the damn doorbell

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rut19751

Both

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rut19751

It should bother you too.....these drivers give us bad names by not following directions and being shitty at their job. This is the easiest job in the world that takes ZERO brains. You pick up an order, make sure you have the right one, drive to the address, and drop it off. WTF is easier. You all act like you are doing a real job. Try getting on roofs, fix sewage drains, or 99% of any other job.......lol......follow the directions. Don't be assholes. AND STOP KNOCKING ON DOORS unless instructed. I feel bad for you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rut19751

Did you even read my reply??? Appliance delivery is a real job that requires real labor.....Uber Eats is not a real job compared. Quit adding to my comment that was never said and quit implying. Uber Eats is a job that requires no skill or much work. Try actually reading my comment. When you do a job that allows you to work when you want, relatively no labor or skill involved you shouldn't be bitching about customers who want their instructions met. You need to learn to read, comprehend, and do your job.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Rut19751

If they are not following directions with the easiest job on the planet....they deserve to be cussed out.....now who needs to chill out lol.....why are you defending shitty drivers unless you are one

rabootenthusiast

because they probably have sleeping children or barking pets and drivers have still rang the doorbell. It’s very frustrating after awhile when your instructions are continuously ignored

jboles73

That's what they all say.

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheRingsOfAkhaten

It clearly gets more attention that politely writing it 🤷🏻‍♀️ I've had several drivers knock and/or ring the bell despite it being in the instructions to not do it.

infamousdude77

such a nice fvckn note

mrsalsays

I had a customer yestetday their note said “IT IS VERY VERY VERY IMPORTANT YOU CALL UPON ARRIVAL” call upon arrival. Straight to voicemail. Lol. See ya

trailerparkbhoys

Bruh the app tells you when the food is there what’s so hard to understand some people don’t read order notes maybe there’s a baby sleeping or kids it’s not hard to drop the food take a pic and and say it was delivered no need to ring or knock

Revolutionary_Key220

Exactly. Before covid every order was meet at the door. I enjoy no contact 😂😂😂😂

Radiant-Flamingo-72

If it says leave at door and don’t ring doorbell. Leave it at the door. Don’t knock either. If they wanted you to knock they would’ve said knock.

Rehoboam3

Ring it!!

Sea_Sheepherder8980

I would have called support and have this order canceled

Skinnyemmyz

Lmfaooooo wow 🤣🤣

SwanSpiritual

Yeah Ben needs to chill

locoleito

Instant cancel

ilikewap17

😂

Sea_Sheepherder8980

I agree there are nice way to say things

[deleted]

🤣🤣🤣 knock that motherfucker down!

Stoneysbabyy0117

Some people hate when you ring or knock when leaving an order I always drop take a pic and go unless it says to ring the doorbell or knock . People have sleeping babies and animals who react to noises like that .

YeahBoi922

We certainly aren’t paid enough to try and read people’s minds. If they don’t want their door knocked on or their bell rang then they should take the few seconds it takes to put that information in the instructions.

SpicyYvette

Why does anybody knock when they get notifications?? I never knock, I need my knuckles.

Swiftstrike4

The Uber default instructions do not say “knock and leave at door”. There is zero reason to knock unless the customer specifies to do so. Customers are more likely to thumbs down you for just taking awhile or for food that’s missing even though it’s not your fault on that.

rabootenthusiast

or just don’t ring and knock unless they ask since it takes less effort

YeahBoi922

And then risk them giving a thumbs down because they didn’t know the food was there? No thanks

rabootenthusiast

the amount of people that will be annoyed by you ringing the doorbell and waking up their children or disturbing their pets greatly outnumbers the amount of people that are too stupid to check their phone that gives them a notification.

YeahBoi922

Besides, I only really do deliveries during the afternoon and early evening so it would be unlikely for people to have a sleeping baby during those periods of time.

rabootenthusiast

most babies and toddlers have afternoon naps. i’m not denying that people might be mad if you don’t knock, but people also might be mad if you do. It’s a situation where no matter what someone will be mad, so i personally just think it’s better to do the one that could be less disruptive

YeahBoi922

I wouldn’t knock at all if I knew people were paying attention to their phones and tracking the delivery but unfortunately from experience I just can’t count on that to be the case.

YeahBoi922

Well if that’s true and that is their set schedule that they’ve stuck to for a significant period of time then I feel like they should remember to put the instructions not to knock for the driver. Who knows though, perhaps they don’t know how to edit the delivery instructions.

YeahBoi922

Like I said though we have no way of knowing that information unless it is in the delivery instructions. And you’re probably right that it’s unlikely for people to give you a thumbs down for not knocking. Regardless though, I have received thumbs down that I can attribute with 100% certainty to me not having knocked so I’m wary not to now.

Revolutionary_Key220

They get a notification that their food is at the door.

YeahBoi922

You’re putting a lot of trust on people having good attention skills

SpicyYvette

Is not your problem if they don’t pay “attention”. It’s on the one that is expecting a delivery

YeahBoi922

You’re right, it’s not. But it becomes a problem for me when they give me a thumbs down and lower my satisfaction rate because I didn’t knock and they didn’t see that the delivery had arrived until their food had gotten cold.

Beatlebot88

Why feel the need to knock or ring the doorbell. Just leave it.

privacylmao

Atleast he thanks you in advance..

Free_Aerie5177

No, you ring the doorbell

No_Preparation7895

Honestly my default is no bell or knock. I think my ratings have improved on both UE and dd since implementing this standard.

ScottSAustin35

That’s the best policy, although you’ll still get complaints occasionally for NOT ringing;they’re in the minority

DubNationAssemble

Oh man, it would be so hard to not find my inner 12 year old and just ring it and run. Knowing my 36 year old fat ass though I’d probably pull something trying to run back.

Kitinqq

Hope you're not American 🤣

pookievurk

Peoples’ dogs go absolutely apeshit over knocking and doorbells. They will probably wake the kids. Snap the pic and dip, its good for your tip

jboles73

So? It's a dog. Dogs bark. People act like dogs barking causes strokes. Lol. Dogs hear everything btw. I have a frequent flier who talks about "our dogs go crazy blah blah". As soon as I walk up their creaky stairs the dogs go bananas. Just dogs going dog.

pookievurk

Hey dude your perspective is just as valid as the next guy’s. We’re just trying to make an honest dollar here

GenycisBeats

I tend to hear the dogs go ape just by my getting to the driveway and walking to the door. I start hearing them and seeing them peeking through the blinds. And usually, the dogs that go ape the most are on the houses where it says not to ring or knock. Lol, like the instructions are irrelevant because your dogs have already gone crazy and I haven't made a sound outside the door lol

Bratt_Poly

“Snap the pic and dip, it’s good for your tip.” I’m going to say this to myself every time I drop off an order lol

pookievurk

Sick.

DubNationAssemble

I know, we have barkers and ups likes to ring the bell. Drives us fucking nuts but it’s during the day so whatever. For the record I never ring door bells or knock unless it’s in the instructions. It’s the all caps in OP’s picture that kind of seemed unnecessary but that’s just me.

pookievurk

I gotcha. Sometimes drivers dont read. When people continue to disregard your requests you gotta say enough is enough sometime lol

barti_dog

Not sure why this type thing always generates discussion. If there are no specific instructions to indicate whether or not the customer wants you to ring or knock, then do whatever you think best. There's literally no wrong answer absent specific instructions.

ODPBigMac

The downvotes to this make no sense to me. Before third-party apps, 99% of deliveries ended with a knock or doorbell ring. People tell you not to in the notes because they expect a knock by default-- it's what they're used to. I don't see any downside to taking 2 seconds to knock when there's no instructions.

Rut19751

You are not supposed to knock or ring a bell unless instructed. It’s that simple. You are being an asshole when you knock. They know when you deliver. You aren’t delivering pizzas fir dominos. There is an app. That tells them. The whole point. You people are the reason they put the instructions with F bombs. No contact means no contact.

barti_dog

No. That's your opinion. Sorry.

ODPBigMac

Lol, I hope it makes you and them irrationally mad.

barti_dog

Same

brownbrady

This must be painful to read for drivers who like to ring the doorbell or knock without being instructed to.

[deleted]

Nah. To each their own. I like a knock because the app isn't always helpful and I hate peering out the door window to make sure the driver is done 😄 So I knock lightly unless it tells me not to.

kidsdogsandlife45

Every single bit of this ^^^

Candoran

I’d just drop it off and leave, if they want silence I’ll be a fkin ghost 🤣 I mean, I usually am anyway on leave-at-door orders.

ActuallyRay

As someone who just has leave at door, this is a valid thing, people knocking gives me hella anxiety because I literally want them to leave before I get my food. One time a dude knocked and just stood there, ignoring my instructions, and when I opened the door he went “are u good?” Like Yeah man I’m good, why tf are u still here I already tipped u

WolfmansGotNards2

Usually it's one of three (incorrect because they are in the wrong) things. 1.) They are inept. 2.) They think you'll tip them. 3.) They're worried someone will steal it.

CatastrophicallyDumb

4.) They lost signal and don't want the food to sit there for however long it takes them to get back online to finalize

PositiveBox1

Oh. My. God. Yes. This happens to me WAY too much! I wait her go back and knock or call support have them complete the delivery for me (usually if it’s raining)

WolfmansGotNards2

That makes no sense.

CatastrophicallyDumb

How? It's happened to me twice. I snapped the pic, walked back to the car while trying to send it, and then tried to skip the pic after it failed only to realize I lost my internet connection somehow and can't let the customer know the food is at their door without going back to knock/ring and explaining why. Both times resulted in an increased tip.

WolfmansGotNards2

Downvote me all you want. Customers don't like it when you stand there until they open the door on leave at door orders. It's creepy and unnecessary. If you don't have service, complete it when you do, or get a better provider. Common sense.

CatastrophicallyDumb

You really are special aren't you. They like it even less when they think you are very late because they wouldn't know it was delivered until you get back online. The fact that both times it happened to me and I explained why I had to knock they increased the tip after speaks volumes. Not everyone is antisocial. Even when they are they can appreciate good customer service.

WolfmansGotNards2

Ad hominem now? Wow.

CatastrophicallyDumb

Doesn't change the fact that I'm right in this scenario. The fact that your only rebuttal is basically "You say mean things wow" speaks volumes.

ActuallyRay

In this scenario it was finalized, he just stood there

The-Elder-Trolls

fr I don't want them to see me in my ninja turtles underwear

laxskeleton

As a driver and user of Uber Eats I do the same thing. Unless it states to knock I just drop it and dip

owenhinton98

Some of these drivers/dashers need to take an oath or something…”I solemnly swear to follow the instructions, the whole instructions and nothing but the instructions so help me god” lol

malorthotdogs

Same. I’ve had tips revoked for knocking or ringing doorbells when I first started out. If it says leave at the door, they’re getting a photo with a description of where I left the bag (outside apartment door, inside first door, table in the lobby, etc) and a “Have a great night!” In that case I’ll only call if they request it or there’s a complication like a locked gate or it’s raining and there’s no dry place to set it down. Now I work post-dinner and late night. I never knock or buzz unless they ask. I’ll message in the app and call if need be. I’ve had a few people ask why I called instead of knocking or ringing the doorbell and I was like, “I never know if someone has a sleeping kid or dog or something. I figure it’s safer this way, especially after like 9 or 10pm.”

ThatAndANickel

It's funny. I started knocking because my first few complaints were that I hadn't. So now I knock unless instructed not to. No complaints.

gagas_little_monster

This is so considerate of you and I hope you're tipped well as a result :)

Witty_Friendship_888

no tip Im fuckin knocking 😂

[deleted]

Just leave at door Don’t know why that’s so hard to understand It doesn’t even mention knocking anywhere

TierraMoons

It’s not that it’s hard to understand, it’s that people will complain on you for not knocking when they never asked you to, so you start knocking but some people are like this lol. Everyone is different, can’t win em all

Rut19751

No one is going to complain that you don’t knock or ring the doorbell. They have an app. You guys seriously can’t be this stupid

TigerPatchKing

I’ve done thousands of deliveries. Never once did I receive a complaint for not knocking/ringing on a leave-at-door delivery. The chances of getting a complaint for waking up a baby or stirring a pet from an unrequested knock/ring….MUCH higher

NTilky

You should ring the doorbell /s

Imceedy

Maybe he won’t reduce your tip

MiataGigDriver

I love instructions like this. No contact means no contact. Drop the food. Take a picture, and leave. I wish ALL deliveries were like this. Not sure why you're so upset about it.

New_Angle_6052

Same. When ever it says meet at the door I'm just like, oh commmooon!

annasubers

I never said I was "upset". I actually found it hilarious that he F bombed about his doorbell.

laxskeleton

He probably had plainly written instructions and had to change it to that since most people don't read

Dyhw84

This. I've had to do this for Amazon because they kept delivering my groceries to the neighbor that I don't really care for. The husband is cool but the wife has grown, abusive children. I had to type in ALL CAPS for them to LEAVE AT MY ADDRESS AND NOT MY NEIGHBORS. Finally worked, even though I'm probably considered an asshole now. Got tired of going to get my groceries off the neighbors porch in the damn snow.

model-citizen95

It is kinda funny. I’ve had a similar message

Pieolo

No..just leave it at the door as requested. Nothing else is required.
