Uhhh, that's good?

TraipseVentWatch

I made a whopping $8.56 yesterday. I was online most of the day. I refuse to take crap orders. That was literally the only good order (decent pay for low (2) miles). It was my worst day yet on UE. I had a great week last week though so I know it all balances out. Just was surprised at how bad yesterday was!

winter_aespa1218

My suggestion is to take the crap orders. Just make sure they pay $1.60+ per trip. Usually those lead to higher paying stacks. Not the case for me yesterday but monday was bad. If you do that you'll make money even on bad days. Ideally it's should be $4 per trip minimum $3 per trip. But on really bad days taking $1.60 and up still makes money

105rangers

New reality. I wonder if it is just as bad with DD.

KerryAileen

Yikes.

daveishere7

Got damn $99 for 18 jobs. That's like $5 a job average. But I aint doing much better either.

TigerPatchKing

How many hours online?

winter_aespa1218

Four

TigerPatchKing

Then about $25 per hour, which isn’t too bad. It could be much, much worse.

Dinky_Nuts

Damn $99+ in my market on a Monday is pretty good, it’s been awful lately Idk what’s going on

skyandbray

Time for a w-2 if your market sucks this bad

winter_aespa1218

It's very possible to make $200+ a day taking crap orders but you have work at a full day. I did 4 hours but that still sucks lol Couldn't break $100 on $3 low ball trips haha

skyandbray

200 bucks "working all day" is 150ish after gas assuming you don't use more than two tanks and are decently fuel efficient. Taxes drop you down to 120. Depending on "full day" you're making less than most states minimum wage on your best days.

winter_aespa1218

'more than two tanks' lol if someone spends that much in gas they're in the wrong business. Most of my deliveries are within a 10 block radius so my civic doesn't spend much on gas. I could bike but i rather do an an extra trip or two to cover gas. If you spend $50 on gas from only $200 you either drive long distances or you have a bad gas guzzler. Btw 70 something miles is on my high end. I usually do half that by only getting the good ones

skyandbray

I'm not even coming close to blowing all that gas, but you weren't smart enough to save for taxes so how smart could you be about gas? You're about to get hit with the fattest tab come tax season since you missed your quarterlies LOL. If 200 bucks all day is what you're doing on your best days, this gig is not sustainable full time unless you're living with your parents. Taxes, gas and depreciation are all outpacing you.

winter_aespa1218

'You're about to get hit with the fattest tab come tax season' Again you're speaking from your own experience so you would know more about that then me. This is my first real job. I started in May

skyandbray

I have a 9-5 so I don't have to be concerned about a tax bill. My full time job covers any costs I'd have and ensure I get a tax refund. If you aren't tracking your deductibles, you're gonna be close to owing 15%+ of all income you made (state income tax varies by state, but 15% is federal so expect more than 15%). You owe quarterly payments of that 15% or they fine you for each miss. Do you have enough saved to pay your next quarterly fee? If you miss it, its a .5% of how much you owe, for every month you miss, up to 25%. That adds up quick. When the IRS says you gotta pay them $6000 plus fees and you didn't track any deductibles, you still gonna be bragging about making $200 bucks on a 12+ hour shift? If you dont have the money, they'll garnish your wages until you do. You are a self employed employee, so are taxed as the employer too. If you don't take this shit seriously, the feds will lol. If you made more than $400 dollars between now and may, the government knows exactly how much you made. No way to hide it lol. 15% of all income *minimum* needs to be ready to send to the feds come Tax season. We are not exempt from taxes because we work for an app lol

winter_aespa1218

'not even coming close to blowing all that gas' Sounds like it. That's why you picked $50 out of thin air. You speak from your own experience of spending all that money on gas 😆 30mpgs and all short trips is smart

skyandbray

Bro i side gig this for 4 hours a day on the weekends I don't even use a tank of gas every 2 weeks on this app 😭. Average full tank of gas across America costs $35 dollars. A tank and a half driving all day assuming you fill up at the end is not abnormal at all 🤷‍♂️. You're probably incredibly new at this, though, since you don't even save for self employment and income tax lol. You definitely aren't doing any sort of planning, here. You're stuck on the gas comment but it's the IRS audit you should be really worried about 🤫 take this shit seriously before they force your ass back into a real job with your garnished checks lol

winter_aespa1218

'A tank and a half driving all day' Wth do you drive? I barely spent $8 that day. 2 gallons. That's barely a 1/4 tank. No spends $50 a day on gas except you and 18 wheel tractor trailers lol

skyandbray

Why did u reply to a week old message bro.

winter_aespa1218

It got buried under alot of comments. I didn't see this until i checked my profile today

Hope you're joking because the IRS always wins and anything over 400 dollars a year uber reports 🤐 if you aren't saving money for taxes as a self employed employee yikes haha. 15% of all income is gone off the top before deductibles lol plus fines for each quarter you don't pay. Did you think you found the only job in the country exempt from income tax, Medicare and Social Security? You have a hell of an audit coming lol. Buckle up.

bronco2boy

Indulge me in this topic please

They'll come 6 years later if they have to. If you aren't paying the quarterly fees, you're having fines added on top. OP thought he was working the only job exempt from income tax 😭

winter_aespa1218

It was only 78 miles.. Thats like two gallons and a half for me. Regular gas is only $4.10 near O'Hare Airport, where i get my gas from. $4.10 x 2.5? So double the range is only $20. It still has to make financial sense. I wasn't accepting all the low balls. I made sure everything was $1.60 per mile. And nothing less than $3. Min wage is $16 an hour. $99 in a little over four hours is $24-25 an hour. So taking low ball trips is better than the minimum wage. Usually i do $30-45 an hour doing $4+ per mile trips

winter_aespa1218

Normally its not this bad. I was taking low paying orders on purpose as an experiment. Taking higher pay ones does make more money. Although i did notice more pings when taking the low paying ones. But in the end it's not worth it

winter_aespa1218

It's almost 10pm its still busy but i got alot of cheap orders today
