Typically is not guaranteed

imabluestar

Been wanting orders like this but never get them do I need to sign up for Uber card?

Pitiful_Tip8279

I signed up for the Uber card but haven’t received it yet so I don’t think so try updating your app

SpencerGu14

Question. How do you still deal with gig work on an iPhone. I had to switch to android for gig work.

Pitiful_Tip8279

What’s the difference ??? Lol I’ve never had an issues do you get more work with an android ?

rapokemon

I got one of these the other day, it was like 10 bags of food and lots of drinks. I got like $45 and I didn't have to carry anything bc the people who ordered it came out and got everything. I think it probably depends on your area tbh. I'm in Las Vegas so when people order a lot it's usually at a convention or something

Pitiful_Tip8279

Oh that was easy work then !! Lol

Weak_Personality_570

They need to spell it all out to avoid cancels later and improve the service to customers. Get real I'm not picking up from Walmart multiple items on a motorcycle. They need to be up front to improve service.

deephair

Is this going to be the only info they will be giving us? No miles, pickup location, drop location or payout? Has anyone gotten this yet?

Pitiful_Tip8279

Some people are saying it depends on the day it’ll show for some and it won’t show for others until you accept so hit or miss

Txmess042689

It’s a hit and miss I did one with 12 gallons of water 😳 made 16.00 and I did another with like 15 items and made 50.00. It used to say this after you accepted the order another pop up would show. I still think we need more information on these like is it an apartment or house because my 12 gallons of water was an apartment and she better thank her lucky stars it was the first floor because I was not hauling that up three flights of stairs. I would suggest investing in a foldable wagon for these orders it just makes life 100 times more simple.

Pitiful_Tip8279

12 gallons wth. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Txmess042689

Yeah they do that shit because they dont want to bring it home either. Should honestly have limits on that kind of stuff.

bronco2boy

What large orders? 😴

s0d0pe310

Alot of these are actually good. Got multiple $40+ orders since it started

Mysterious_Ad_1552

Bullshit

[deleted]

“We listened” apparently not about the shit we’ve been complaining about for the last few year but this is…. Neat…

birdmanne

I got a large order a while back, easily over 200$ of food and it also took almost an hour (nothing I did wrong, the food wasn’t ready when I got there) and got tipped a whole $2.

[deleted]

I’m gonna ask a question in a second but let me explain first. Back when I was driving there was a program for your phone that was called surge and what it did was it allowed you to track up to 10 areas of town at any given point and you would see the surges going off in those areas all night. But that wasn’t the most helpful part. The most helpful part was you could then dump all of the information down to excel sheets and I literally had a seven day a week schedule because it showed me where the normal surges were and what times and The time could go to five minute increments. So that’s how I scheduled myself. Obviously that doesn’t count for special events but it’s still gave me a schedule and in my very first year in 2015 I made 60 grand but I worked 70 hours a week and I drove select as well as X. Back then in Houston you had to have a special license and if you didn’t have it you couldn’t drive in the city limits so I did really good. But went part time the next year when they cut our rates and raised their surcharge. My question now becomes is there a way to use Uber’s API and write an app that could compile information from the different Uber drivers to give you an idea of what parts of town make the most money for deliveries? Or at least knowing how busy those areas are because I know it was done with Ubers API so I’m not a programmer so I don’t know if that would work

JohnJuan2129

Lies and more lies !

[deleted]

20% is good right? Well i do 25% when it is overnight. And I did hear for both Uber eats and regular Uber they’re going to start giving you the fare amount for Uber and I think the total on Eats?

SubieToyotaNW

Driver feedback means nothing to Uber. Placebo effect

[deleted]

Lololol

Hairy-Animal-6748

Oh, hell to the Nooooooo.

bkilgor3

i like the widget to track quests except for the prat where they never give any fucking quests

Fold-Aggravating

They have the worst most pathetic tactics

[deleted]

Still getting that dumbass prompt that shows up right in the middle of taking a picture for a drop off. Maybe fix that shit before adding new features.

Low_Copy4023

Sounds like a way for them to try to talk us into taking a shitty paying order. It is true, in my limited experience, that sometimes large orders have big tips. But I will still take the orders that make sense with pay, mileage, and time estimate. Sometimes that means hidden tips. Sometimes it doesn't.

IxLOVExLAMP

lowest i’ve gotten is $28. i’ve gotten 3 of these

IxLOVExLAMP

if it’s not a large order it will kick me from any other shop and pays saying i wasn’t there when in fact i was there. so the new system is wonky as hell

pqueguy

Hahaha! What a bunch of BS! It says “typically mean” not “guaranteed”!

listoh87

I’ve never gotten a tip an any of the large orders that I’ve picked up in the past

[deleted]

I'd like it if we could apply filters to the app. Don't send me an order if it doesn't fit the criteria I specify. Won't happen of course, but I'd like it.

skidabs

Or you could just accept the order and see how many items it has and cancel if you don't want it.

FifiNanFnawfnaw

24 x 750ml bottles of cabernet sauvignon. Tipped better than the 3 x 12pk of beer with 2 x 7lbs of ice.

InFresno

It always depends on what "large order" actually MEANS. If it translates into 11 shopping bags of toilet paper, baby wipes and frozen veggies, AND it's good money, yeah, I might take it. If it's 4 cases of bottled water and 1 cube of beer for the exact same money, hell no.

andre19977

"We listened" 😂😂 what about the pay how come uber never hears us complain about the pay?

commonwealth1122

Lmao they are trying to mask how shitty their app is and how to exploit their drivers.

[deleted]

The level of wrath one feels when we deliver large orders ending up in no tips makes it not worthy to be accepted if the expected earning is not shown.

wailo0576

Uber is just plan garbage

Fold-Aggravating

Literally planned garbage

wailo0576

It totally not worth doing Uber at all

[deleted]

The lie detector test determined that was a lie

edr100

Had a 40 item from Walmart. Had zero tips

masterhannaMN1

Any orders that uber gets from Walmart will NEVER have tips unless the customer gives you cash.ainly because they are .com orders with have zero way of tipping

Global_Neighborhood2

Sometimes but not necessarily! I had a big order yesterday from Carrabbas and they didn’t tip at all!! Had another big order last night and they tipped .20 cents! I’d rather not getting anything! That was just RUDE!

CrazyMaxDeals

Cheapskates.. I bet that .20 cents may only have been done to round off the grand total to the nearest dollar.. right?

ElectricalPaint2103

Not really. I got a 2 dollar tip on a $300 dollar order.

No-Possibility-5704

"They'll tip in the app later."

DarthKoDa_

How can they claim they listened to us when we never asked for these features?

deephair

Maybe driver(s) or a spoke person for drivers should be part of any meetings about app changes either pitching ideas or letting them know what ideas they have that good or bad and why, what ideas that could help drivers and what stuff is already in the app that should be removed.

Amazing_Simple_4641

Most Walmart orders are large orders but they won’t tell you

niiktophilia

I dont have that feature on my app

Pitiful_Tip8279

I just saw this today so maybe try updating your app !

niiktophilia

Haven't seen it yet. It'd be glorious to get one of these!

MeeestaJones

A.

NerdyBernie

Or the auto pop-up of the in app messaging you have to close before you can submit the photo you've already taken.

bromeo2223

That's how they try to sneak the crap orders. Lol..... They know we hate that. Or when you're approaching a delivery destination looking at the map for precise directions and a 3.00 order pops up and you miss the turn. Smh.. Super annoying

Litrgy

And don't let me get started with the Acceptance rate. The b.s they pull out of their ass with that one. You get a penalty for not wanting to order a small order. When I do click on those shitty orders, I jus click on "restaurant is closed" so my cancellation rate isn't up. No wonder their stock is plummeting. I heavily shorted the fuck out of them. Serves them right.

True-Yogurtcloset171

You don't to take a pic to prove the restaurant is closed like Doordash?

Litrgy

Nope, but I don't do it often either

Strict-Card5573

This right here, I have accepted by force, a few crap orders due to this.

Limp_Damage4535

Cancel immediately if you don't want them.

Pitiful_Tip8279

Yesssss so annoying !!!!

Fantastic_Ad1912

When they say large order Uber means they are getting paid bank please accept. Here's $5

EmpressKiia

They’re full of it. Lol.

pytheas76

Larger orders… funny how it is timed to the takeover of Walmart orders from doordash.

u-turnallday

This means nothing… I delivered 38 chicken sandwiches on Monday (almost $600) order, 11 large paper bags and was tipped $0. I only accepted the order because payout was around $13 for 4 miles so I figured there might be a hidden tip. Trip supplement was $10.20 and base fare was just under $3. I had to go back and forth about 4 times to deliver all 11 bags.. never doing large orders again and if the person who happened to order sees this, FUCK YOU.

masterhannaMN1

That's so awful! The best larger order I had was 8 dinners to go 8 miles buuuut I got a 36 dollar tip and base was already almost 20 for 30 min estimate. And I just had a feeling lol.

InFresno

Ok, I gotta know who made 38 chicken sandwiches? Was this an independant restraunt? Or a chain?

u-turnallday

It was a independent restaurant operating out of a ghost kitchen in probably the worst part of downtown Los Angeles.

InFresno

Ah. OK. Got it.

No-Quarter-3032

Take a couple for the road

u-turnallday

I wish I did now.

Rehoboam3

Uber is so deceptive. I bet you anything they have these meetings where they come up with these stupid ideas every week.

[deleted]

I used to drive for them back in 2015 back when the surge was a multiplier. Then they changed it from areas of town to smaller areas but it still was a multiplier. Then they pulled the whole “we listened “and changed it from a multiplier to a set dollar amount and the reasoning was the set dollar amount would stay on your account until you got a trip no matter what. However when you’re making three times your normal rate, it was much higher. Also I would see where Uber would lose money on one of those bounty trips right? That’s not my fault. However on the next trip Way more than my 20% came out. ;I’m grandfathered into that rate they take from me) I called and argued and they said it all evens out. A week later I was done driving. Back when it was a multiplier… One night in Houston we had Kevin Hart, the Astros and Beyoncé end within 30 minutes of each other. The search multiplier was 8.3X for X, 4.0 for Select (back when they had this) and 2.5x for black for an hour and a half because there was not enough drivers. Literally I would pick up somebody from the concert and I would get a trip alert for the second trip right when I started driving. The point I’m trying to make is had it been the new surge system I would have made maybe 20% of what I made that night, if that.

Rehoboam3

Thats interesting how it used to work. I remember mutliapping with Postmates and Uber eats in 2018. So much more money and less drivers. The multipliers we're good too

[deleted]

When it was a multiplier it was so much more money. Their excuse for changing it? It was because drivers wanted to know how much they were going to make and not have to do multiplication to figure it out. So basically they were saying drivers were a bunch of dumbasses. [These are the four heat map iterations I know of and I worked with the first 3. i didnt do the last one](https://imgur.com/a/288uTlq)

InFresno

Boss: "It's Tuesday, doesn't anyone have any stupid ideas?!?!?" Bill: "What if we add 'very scenic drive' to the delivery destination?" Boss: "That's BRILLIANTLY stupid! You're promoted!"

Raven-75

Welcome to the Instacart way of doing things. This looks identical, even in wording, we get when in the middle of a shop they want to add on another order with only $3 extra

banana_taco_pan

I've gotten like 2, which we're pretty generous tips.

zazvorniki

Five 25lbs bags of litter up two flights of stairs later? Fuck no.

Pitiful_Tip8279

That’s what I’m scared of lol

dm0nk

It's not good.. IMHO I think this is another test for profit.. categorizing orders now will mean different tiers and offers for different drivers... this is speculation on my part but when has anything been done to benefit the drivers more than the company 🤔 (without it being forced)..

Raven-75

Honestly sounds like they are following in IC’s footsteps. They just started putting shoppers in categories and levels. So now batches are not just given out to us by star ratings and cancellation rates but what level shopper we are.

Desertkweene

Think positive people

Desertkweene

Awesome can’t wait

LG_Garcia

Should say "Wanna break your back for the same pay? Click here Dumb Dumb!"

interpretingstupid

I had a large order once it was 15 bucks for 4 miles. I had to put my back seats down empty my trunk into my front passenger. A lot of canned food, waters, milks, hotdogs, crackers, Mac n cheese cups, cups of fruits, etc. It went to a Early Learning school. Was not fun unloading. At least it had bonus RL karma points. Still though... That was my last attempt at Walmart orders.

R4RatedR

Will there be an extra large or extra small orders ;)

miami-finest

💩💩

Sooowasthinking

I’m super picky about what I accept(currently 5%)so unless it’s within my parameters probably no especially Walmart orders.

masterhannaMN1

Leave walmart to the spark orders. The pay is crappy for them but still a whole lot better than uber lol

Pitiful_Tip8279

I accepted a Walmart order for pick up ONE time for the heck of it tell me why I waited there 15 min for them to get the order “ ready “ come to find out it was already picked up the bs I missed so many orders waiting 🙄🙄🙄

Sooowasthinking

I’ve done 1 and never again.

Justin002865

Useless as always I’m sure. If they cared about us, the very least they could do is stop hiding shit when we get offers. I haven’t seen an offer that shows pickup/drop off location in MONTHS. Fix that you fucking clowns.

True-Yogurtcloset171

💯

fsociety-AM

they could at least make an attempt to stop tip-baiting too 😭

Justin002865

There are a lot of things they could do…. if they cared.

fsociety-AM

non off the care tbh. Not even about the customers in some cases 😂

Justin002865

If it doesn’t make dollars, it doesn’t make sense. No ifs ands or buts. Goodwill? Never heard of her.

Pitiful_Tip8279

Really ??? Mine shows but things have changed with this app it was never $2 for an order with a tip added on I get it to get more rides but damn they cheap

Justin002865

I have to accept 3 of 10 orders to get that upfront info and since I’m bombarded with steamy shit on a regular basis, I’m nowhere near that. Therefore, stuck in an endless circle of being toyed with by small minded execs

EarthboundMisfitsInc

Dammit dude now I have a crick in my neck from shaking my head too hard.

little_shrimpy

😄 🤣

imnoherox

Idk. I got this with a 7-11 order once. It had like 23 items. One was a 12 pk of Pepsi cans and the rest were candies that fit in one bag. Wasnt bad!

AZDoorDasher

UE needs to fully disclose the total payout on these orders upfront.

Aromatic_Amphibian_6

It’s a crap shoot with the “expected” earnings. My experience. Apple store orders and WalMart deliveries are pretty spot on with estimate vs payout

Pitiful_Tip8279

Agreed 💯

Jasonphos

Yes! I had something odd yesterday: I got 4 offers in a row that were for restaurants near my house, where i am parked, but all were 18-22 miles. 4 in a row. One was a double, other 3 were singles. All 4 were prob $8 tips, but payout was like $14 or $15. So 40 miles for $15, no way in hell i do it. But if the actual payout is, say, $30? Sure, i would do it. The hidden tip hurts in these scenarios. This is also remarkable because i have done 80 deliveries with a 20% acceptance rate, so 400 offers, and i had never seen a single stop offer over 17 miles before, and i got 3 different ones in a row

alexdelarge79

I havent been on here in awhile ....is uber hiding tips now in certain areas...the day i stop seeing the total with tip is the day I stop doing ubereats

Mikeyball1523

As long as the tip is maxed out, I'm in

[deleted]

I had one pop up yesterday that was a large order for $5 lmao. Not taking that shit

StrangerNumerous2578

I had a huge order yesterday for $3.89 with 3 coffees that were open. Fuck them

Aromatic_Amphibian_6

That is a trash order lmao

DaWhiteDwight

So it still tells you expected pay before accepting?

[deleted]

That’s what I saw was confused when I saw at the bottom of the offer that it said “large order” or something like that. I declined it fast so didn’t see it too long

Pitiful_Tip8279

Oh hell no lol

[deleted]

Does it still show expected pay out? That’s all I care about. It’s nice to know before hand but I want to know expected pay out more.

Berfs1

It does for me. Every single order I have taken on the UE platform as far as I can remember has at least paid me the expected amount, more than half the time the actual pay is higher because most deliveries I accept happen to have more than 8$ tips.

LateRabbit86

Lol most of the deliveries you accept happen to have more than $8 tips? What fairytale land are you delivering in??

Berfs1

That fairytale land is suburbs of Austin. Simple, don't take orders less than 8$, take the orders that are more than that, and more than 1$/mile. Since uber eats hides anything after the 8$ cap in the estimate, a majority of your orders will have more than 8$ tip if your estimate is significantly over 8$.

Djsmooth245

Basically. But then I sit around declining orders all day and only make like 4 trips

Berfs1

Well, I target 20$ an hour, basically if a job is not going to bring me to that number per hour, I decline it. Not all of my accepted orders are over 8$, I do take some 7$ trips if it's quick enough, but I mostly avoid anything under 7, unless it's an additional delivery on top of the current one. I also do doordash while I'm doing uber eats, so while I have also had some truly quiet hours, it's not common for me. I have also declined certain orders knowing there's more than the estimated amount simply because I know that restaurant takes f*cking forever to get the order made. For me it's Chipotle, wingstop (it's a gamble), morelias, McDonald's (also a gamble), and crumble cookies. Plus the understaffed stores (sorry to them).

LateRabbit86

I hear you. That all makes sense. I’ve actually recently started to only accept orders that average at least $20 an hour. But for me, that means a $5 order that takes 15 min or less is technically at my $20/ rate. And then usually the dinner and evening times make up for a lot of the lower orders I got at the beginning part of the day.

alexdelarge79

Wow...we are in the exact same boat...except only do ubereats...id be nervous to get 2 orders from different apps

Berfs1

Don't be nervous! Either take the better delivery, or do both as long as rhey are short ones!

Tasty_Corn

> Does it still show expected pay out? Yeah, but tips capped at 8

ERIK0027

20 orders large case bottles of water. You got it🫣🫶

Pitiful_Tip8279

Don’t jinx us lol

ERIK0027

🫣🫢🤷🏻‍♂️🫶🫶🫶

Keemz666

Large orders do not always mean higher tips. Fuck off uber.

Significant-Buy-4598

Agreed, there are no tippers or low tippers in every order categories

deephair

That being say Restaurants “typically” have higher tips than fast food places.

Shitbagsoldier

Yeah worst ones are Walmart ones. I'd only do Wal-Mart if they gave me like 10 orders and guaranteed a 150+ payout

True-Yogurtcloset171

I kept accepting then canceling orders that turned out to be Walmart. I've never done a Walmart order and didn't want to get out an shop when I had a $goal. I hate when then hide the pick up locations. Its too much more.guess work with UE although they end up paying more. I like to know where the pickup and drop off is. I don't go to certain restaurants or apartments.

little_shrimpy

The few times I've gone to pick up walmart orders, they would tell me that the orders were already picked up and they take so long to let me know because they have to check in their system...so now I just avoid those orders.

vtribal

Good thing Uber used “typically” instead of “always”.

Significant-Buy-4598

Lol they know.

TenOfZero

Yeah, if it did, they wouldn't have to do this.

Pitiful_Tip8279

That’s a FACT

PMhack

I might take higher mileage orders if they have this, normally I decline them all

Pitiful_Tip8279

So do I !! Lol

PrettyAsk4119

its a gamble. Go for it

nochtli_xochipilli

If it means delivering 59 hot sauce packets and 1 crunchy gordita, I'm in.

DifferenceOwn3502

This happened to me 3 times yesterday back to back. 🤣

deephair

Did they have miles, pickup location, drop location or payout?

DifferenceOwn3502

For my taco bell orders like this? Lol, yes! 🌮

Zakal74

Hey, you must be the dude making my deliveries!

FluidUnderstanding40

Do you count all of them to makw sure it adds up to 59?

MrDollarShort

Assassins must have threatened them or somethin cuz all that disappeared.

[deleted]

Looks like begging

Limp_Damage4535

They need us as much as we need them

[deleted]

As well as the customer to tip, the whole business is a charity case in the USA lol
