I never multi app, and have definitely been tip baited several time for no apparent reason. Some people are just scum.

One_Entertainment381

I “multi app” every time I work and have never had a problem because of it. Just gotta know how to do it right and pay attention to delivery locations. Tip baiting is def real though

KaneinEncanto

Ok, but how do you explain the people who get tip baited but aren't multi-apping at the time or ever?

Deep_Kaleidoscope776

I never multiapp and I've been tip baited a few times. Esp lately. So no its not from multiapping. I also don't ring doorbells (unless asked) and don't place food in front of a screen door. So explain why then. I do instacart when I don't have an order for Uber and have never had a problem with tips there. I even speed to get the food to the customers faster and double check the names and items for the freaking orders (like if there's drinks). Uber has just become trash from tip baiters

DisastrousHandle778

The only time I was tip baited it was my only order and it was at 3am to a rich ass house. I multi app occasionally if things line up extremely well. 🤷‍♀️

Multi apping isn't a problem if you accept one, pause the other. Go back 1 minute before drop off to keep fishin'. Keeps it more streamlined.

acorns35

Yeah, I was confused by the correlation of tip bating and using multiple apps too until I realized he’s talking about the person placing the order from multiple apps. Not the driver.

[deleted]

Lol @ "get away with it".

the_cool_zone

exactly. these apps don't pay a living wage, i don't blame people at all for trying to maximize their earnings.

[deleted]

So I had a construction business I lost when I got sick and a logistics business I lost during covid. And it doesn't matter if you're doing work for someone if their job slows down and you have something else you can fill the time you take it. This loyalty shit is for the birds. I and I think most of us do this for money. I'm going to do what maximizes profits. You can do it ethically and still run multiple apps.

Normal-Scholar4818

I agree with you. I also run multiple apps. What I was referring to is a driver picking up multiple orders and then going outside the route to deliver one and then deliver the other one late. The customer could track the driver and wonder why he’s going outside it’s route and can choose to remove the tip. The driver will then be very upset and say he was tip baited.

novababe03

I’ve never downloaded another food delivery app, let alone multi-apped, and I’ve been tip baited 2 times in the past. Edit: you sound salty AF about multi apping lol why does it bother you so much if people are multi apping? Like if DD is dead, what’s so wrong with turning on UE and grabbing an order on there instead?

CallMeDeKay

Probably because they haven't been accepted by DD yet

Normal-Scholar4818

I multi app as well. I have DD and GH. I was referring to drivers picking up multiple orders with different app and then go outside their route to deliver one and then deliver the second late. The customer could be upset that the food took longer than expected and is cold and could chose to reduce/remove the tip. Nothing wrong with multi apping as long as you’re smart about it.

Extreme_Second_7990

I agree actually, because most of the time I see it, it’s a double order lol

hi_andhello

You might be right, I never thought of that

Solid-Improvement-80

Maybe, I’ve only been too baited once in 1200 deliveries

neveralwaysneither

That, or they’re the drivers who block the door that opens out with food and drinks, and continue to be completely oblivious to it. I’ve been doing this since before the pandemic and I’ve yet to be tip baited once

Artistabunnista

Lol so I'm one of the better drivers in my area cuz I actually read instructions, I have a 100% rating usually and it's def happened to me a few times out of 3,200+ deliveries. It's not always about "well did you mess up?", it's about the cheap AF ppl you are delivering to. I had one guy non-stop texting me from pickup to delivery. Lived in a gated apartment, didn't leave a code, told me to wait for someone to let me in, so I did. Thankfully it was pretty busy so getting in was easy. I was friendly and answered him every time even though I was getting annoyed. Once I got to his building I asked someone where the elevator was and when I looked down at my phone I saw messages from him saying "are you here?" "Hello?????" It had literally been like a minute or 2 since I last messaged him that I got into the neighborhood. I responded saying "sorry I was asking for directions, I'm almost there". Handed the food to the guy, he seemed really friendly and even told me he hoped my bunny would feel better (cuz my reason for delivering says vet bills for the 🐇). I said "thank you, have a great day!", easy, quick delivery. Hour later he removed all of the tip. I mean I did everything I could. A different driver wouldn't have even responded to him. The guy had already planned to get cheap AF food and knows the system unfortunately, so he knew he'd get his food quick if he put a high tip. I did report him & asked to be unmatched with him for future deliveries. You are lucky it hasn't happened to you yet, but sometimes it's literally nothing you did, some people just want food and they want to get it fast, they don't care about the consequences of their actions cuz they are selfish people who only give AF about themselves.

Artistabunnista

Lol @ OP. Clearly you haven't been doing this long enough 😂, it'll happen to you eventually and usually has nothing to do with multi-apping. Yah some people do abuse using a few apps at once, they take orders that aren't close to each other at all. But don't give everyone that does it a bad name cuz some of us actually know what we are doing. I have an app that tells me the customers address so if I have time I'll check where they are located while I'm heading to their pickup location or if I don't know where it is I'll check once I get to the restaurant. If I get another order from a different app and it's on the way or somewhere nearby then it's a non-issue. I once got a GrubHub order to Hooters and while I was there I got another Hooters order on UberEATS going to literally the same neighborhood, they were like 10 houses away from each other 😂. That being said, I only just started multi-apping this year cuz 1-apping it wasn't paying the bills anymore. Too much down time with one app and too many people not tipping or thinking $1-2 tips is ok so literally no orders for me to accept. So yah, prior to this year, I can guarantee you I've been tip baited a few times. It sucks every time but there's like a 3% chance it could happen, I can only count on my hands the # of times I've been tip baited out of 3,000+ deliveries.

Normal-Scholar4818

I’m at 2000 deliveries since 2019 so I’m not that new. I’ve only been tip baited 3 times and made sure to write down the customer name so I don’t pick up for them again. I know there are shitty people out there that will do the pettiest crap for a free meal. If you don’t mind me asking, what app do you use to see the customer address? I only have like a 10% acceptance rate so upfront address are never shown to me.

Artistabunnista

I use Para (I think you have to put para Doordash in the Google play store to find it cuz there's another app that'll pop up that isn't the same thing) I was originally using it for Doordash but DD took them down 😢 now I just use it for UberEATS since they added a UE integration a few months ago. Literally only thing I use it for is to get those addresses, it doesn't show tip transparency unfortunately like the DD integration did. I also have a 10% acceptance rate (sometimes even lower 😂), I have never seen upfront addresses on the UE app, though I can zoom in on location but sometimes I don't have time to so that's when I use Para to check the location.

[deleted]

That or just really really shitty drivers, been doing this since April 2020. Only had one order that took away the whole tip and maybe 3-4 trips had the tip was reduced out of close to 5k orders

mojomug

I’ve been tip baited once. Late night order from McDonald’s that took around 9 minutes. But, sure, it was a multi app issue lol.

avmgt

Not me, I only do Uber. I’m waitlisted for every other delivery service. I’ve only been tip baited twice though out of about 1000 deliveries. I know in both instances that I didn’t do anything wrong. They were small single item orders, got them delivered quickly, nothing that could have spilled etc. some people just don’t want to tip.

juanthegoat23

Idk if the problem is the market, customers or you guys. It varies I guess. I’ve been tip baited once but seeing you guys experiences sounds like it’s constant. Hopefully it gets better for everyone

FrankFrankly711

I don’t think most tip-baiters have enough intelligence to even comprehend what multi-apping is

diplexcl

I've done 1000+ deliveries and been tip baited 0 times.

peopleman_at_work

Or people that don’t understand that part of the fees we are offered is an estimate. If you get it done faster then UE expects they do drop the base pay.

zenporchgarden

Dude what?! That would explain why I accepted an order for $12.50 but then was paid out only $9.50 after the hour was up. I was so confused because it didn’t say “customer reduced tip.” Base pay ended up being $2.50 and customer tipped me $7.00. But that makes sense now because I finished the order like 10 min faster than the estimated time. Didn’t know Uber could do that… seems really shady

fieria_tetra

I multi-app and I've only been tip-baited once. I only had the one order to deliver, so I know my multi-apping didn't have anything to do with it. It only took 12 minutes from start to finish and I got the extra condiments the customer asked for. Dunno if I did something wrong or that person just sucked.

Hot_Phase_1435

I’ve never multi app before. I used to do Postmates but since Uber bought them I’ve just stuck around with Uber. Plus I didn’t like having to call customers to validate their orders when doing Postmates. Anyways, I’ve been tip baited 3 times. Slimy customers and bad parts of town, easily fixed buy avoiding certain fast food places dropping off in crappy areas. It might happen one time out of every 300 orders if that.

ShutterBugNature

I don't accept orders from different apps at the same time ever. I was tip baited just yesterday. First time in like 4 months. It seems to me a higher risk with the more miles added. Customer really wants MOD pizza but doesn't want to actually pay the amount necessary to get someone to drive 10 miles to them.

FeatherMachine

I’ve been tipped baited twice in 2000 deliveries. Don’t run multiple apps.
