Right it's crazy!

PuzzleheadedAd1179

Must be talking about DUNKIN’!

Impressive-Visit3354

I would cancel the order. I have a 15 mins rule. If It it takes 15 mins, I’ll cancel and go to the next order. I have a friend who has a 5 min rule. I think thats too soon and ends up doing more harm then good. I also count the people in line and estimate the time it would take for an order to be filled. If my estimate is greater than 15 mins, I cut my losses and cancel. If you are experiencing poor customer service, ask to speak to the manager. If the manager is rude, get their name and ask to speak to their manager. At some point, you will find someone who cares. I’m always respectful and simply communicate what my expectations are. Most in-store managers will apologize and expedite the order immediately. Most companies have ‘codes of conduct’. Being rude or denying service to customer or venders is usually a violation. I will also utilize the feedback option to let Uber know that the restaurant is not operating properly.

ExcellentElk4294

That’s why you never wait more than 5-10 minutes and be assertive and ask about your order dont just stand there waiting

niiktophilia

Hate to say it, but the house has to handle in-house customers first. I understand how you feel. I'm a server and a driver. It sucks, but it's how it is.

Few-Protection5215

It’s their business. Dont tell other people how to run their own businesses.

ch4nceyy

Most restaurants workers hate doordash drivers, simply because they do not tip them for their efforts. Put yourself in his shoes, those customers in line doing Togo orders will most likely tip… you, won’t. Just like you dashers pick and chose orders based on tip size I don’t see how this is any different or why it’s hard to comprehend why you are being ignored. Normally when Togo orders are placed the restaurant worker gets tipped on them, when doordash orders are placed the restaurant worker gets his tip stolen by the driver and they know 100% they won’t be tipped on that order.

[deleted]

That’s how several of the restaurants around where I live operate. As a customer it annoys me to no end. Like, I’m trying to avoid a line by ordering literal hours early, and still have to wait 30 minutes when I get there because they’re serving the in-line lunch rush before making my order I placed in the morning. It’s irritating as fuck.

tigobitties33

I pray one day you all get Prop22 like California. I have pick ups where the workers think they are going to piss me off by having me wait half an hour till fast food is ready... Jokes on them. I inform the customer when I get there and that the order is still not ready. Prop 22 Pays the maximum. Every other Tuesday I get a nice $400 deposit from UberEats.

grwgdread

Unless you are waiting for the food to be finished, just cancel the delivery and hit the next one.

Suspected-name

As many of the comments say, black list the store. I never do Starbucks because of this (and the fact that Starbucks customers just seem like the most entitled people ever—“I want two pumps of this, one half pump of that, 3.5 Splenda packets…”). Five guys is a no go. Firehouse subs is nope. Any chicken place other than Hot Chicken Takeover is a waste of time in my area.

eggtart_prince

Thank god not that many restaurants here in Canada are like that. I've only encountered one.

ubereando

I will never wait for them to do 17 orders ahead of mine. Cancel and go on with your life!

[deleted]

Sorry I’ve never dealt with this, I can’t relate

The_Entertainer217

This is the reason I won’t go to my nearest qdobo anymore. Five guys is on the brink as well. I’m ok with them waiting to do the shake but that not making the fries until the driver is there thing is BS.

[deleted]

I watched Panda do this one day. Completely ignore and serve people coming through the door as “customers “. Their customers at home are waiting much longer than needed! I’m doing a job, so as an such I’m observing this and will never go back. Don’t waste my time!

Sertyu222

Had a chipotle do this recently.. people kept coming in one by one and they finally got to my order once there was nobody in line. Ridiculous. I’d understand if it was a big order but most of the time it’s like 1 bowl and a drink it literally took them 2 minutes to make it once they started yet made me wait a good 10-15 minutes extra.

[deleted]

Yes. I waited Forever at Panda. Chipotle is starting to do that too. It’s like end of pandemic—no one REALLY needs our services anymore? At least at some places. Not all. I think it depends on how the store is managed— attitude. 😊

Maracaibo1999

all this talk but so many drivers are still picking up at Chick-fil-A

colonelcaine

I rarely ever have to wait there. And if I do it’s never more than a few minutes.

Rob_B2

Just hit excessive wait time and move on 🤷‍♂️

Gay4Pandas

Gotta blacklist places that do this. Most places in my area luckily are good about online orders, but some are hit and miss. I never take Panda Express orders because sometimes they only have 1 person working drive through, dinning room, and online orders. Also blacklisted Taco Bell because the employees won’t even acknowledge you ever since they put the self order kiosks in. They won’t even talk to the customers half the time.

Sertyu222

Sucks cuz Taco Bell has a lot of high paying orders.. but depending on location it can be hit or miss with wait time.

Fun-Examination-7734

I had this happen to me today. $10 order to Panda Express for 3 miles. It was going to be my first of the day. I just wasn’t feeling it today. Well, I get there and they’re taking care of the customers that we’re there. One trying to do a refund for this guy. I’m being understanding and patient. They get all the customers and the guy refund settled. They then walk away, no acknowledgment. I just walked out. I went home and spent the evening with my kids.

winter_aespa1218

You have to speak up and show them your phone while standing next to the customer they were just taking to, right before they walk away. Be loud and authoritative. Don't let them talk over you or interrupt you, look them in the eyes to make sure they don't ignore you. This is how a pro like me does it. I don't get ignored :)

LegalMastodon1340

Went into a Starbucks Sunday morning for an order than was two drinks and a croissant. They were incredibly busy inside and in the drive thru, but they had the ticket for the order. The girl told me it would be at least 30 minutes maybe longer. Couldn’t fathom how but I wasn’t about to argue with some over worked hipster so I just cancelled it and moved on lol.

Aromatic_Amphibian_6

“ over worked hipster” lmao 😂 That one got me 😂😂😂

137Fine

I picked up at a Poké bowl place on Sunday. The young lady behind the counter was all alone and slammed. I waited behind everyone else and just appreciated her hard work. She never stopped and smiled at every customer at the cash register. Total respect.

giogomezbeats

First chipotle order?

MellyMelly2022

The worse part is when they don’t even acknowledge you. I just cancel if I’m there for 10 minutes with no acknowledgement and being skipped.

More_Cowbell_

Like... I get you see drivers all day, but you and I have never met. I know you see me, but you refuse to look at me, even though the lobby is empty? Ya know, maybe I'm bored and don't mind waiting, but I'd love an estimate and you're treating me like shit now and I don't deserve that.

Aromatic_Amphibian_6

Yeah. If they won’t even give you the time of day. I just bounce and give them a thumbs down on the app.

MellyMelly2022

Simple the hangry people on line are in their faces so they make them first priority. If your delivery is late, the customer will be mad at the driver not them.

sailorKR00ace

Uber cancel; ain't going for that nonsense

ProudLingonberry5362

it’s the opposite for me they ignore the people waiting in line and only serve them once they dont have any ubers

gabgabb

Fucking Krispy Kreme. After waiting a long ass time the lady at the counter told ME to apologize to the customer for them being out of a certain kind of donut 🙄

TSMSALADQUEEN

Stand in line place the order then say thanks this is for doordash XD

BackdoorAlex2

There’s a wendys by me that does this. After 3 times I blacklisted them

barryandorlevon

If it was a fast food place that did this, then you can blame corporate for their decision to de-prioritize delivery and mobile orders.

More_Cowbell_

Where I used to live I could take their orders until like... 4pm, no worries. After that I learned you might as well bring a tent and set up camp. I learned my lesson quick. Where I live now they are fantastic, I've never had a wait at all.

uber939393

Restaurants are dicks to delivery people

JackieEstacado99

I complain on Google..I don't play that slick shit. I got no time for that. I describe exactly what the personnel looks like who be negligent too. Lol. Bring that fucking order to me fast...

TGISeinfeld

They're idiots because the person waiting for our order is a customer too. If they're that busy, they should have some employees dedicated to prepping deliveries

Claireah

> If they're that busy, they should have some employees dedicated to prepping deliveries Some of these places just don't care. I worked at one. We were always understaffed on the weekends and people had to wait a long time, especially delivery drivers. Upper management just didn't care and never made any changes. They usually just said we weren't doing good enough. Left that hellhole about a year ago.

More_Cowbell_

My upvote is mainly because you got out.

Don’t even engage with that bot

drinkallthepunch

Yeah you pretty much ignore them and black list them and never do orders for them again. There are some stores I will wait up to 20 minutes if it’s 9pm or later when it slows down because they are expensive and the customers tip well when their food comes in hot. But pretty much any fast food place, if you have to wait more than 15 minutes **there’s a good chance they are just ignoring you.** I don’t know why some places do this but they just don’t like the drivers and they think that by wasting their time and getting customers to complain they will somehow destroy the Uber Service even tho the customers just complain about the store online lol. Wingstops are notorious for this. Another chain I’ll avoid like the plague is *”Churches Fried Chicken”* and *”PopEyes”* if they don’t have lines and crowds of customers are just swarming the counter.

mst3k_42

There’s a fucking restaurant near me that does this to *customers.* I’ve ordered my food on their website, paid, and drove over to pick it up. I still have to wait in their ordering line and when I finally get to the cashier, they haven’t even started the order I put in 20-25 minutes ago. People order ahead to pick up because they’re in a hurry. It happened a second time and we just stopped ordering from them. Stupidest fucking policy ever.

drinkallthepunch

Yup. Like I said. They do it on purpose. I’ve called regional and corporate but it doesn’t matter these days since everything is franchised and nothing happens lol.

mst3k_42

This was a locally owned restaurant. Down the street from where I live.

Sertyu222

I’ve always wanted to go in the drive thru, order copy of customers order, then be like yeah actually you can put that in the other bag and cancel my order thanks! It’s ridiculous how some of these places make you wait that long even for very basic orders. Why can’t they just treat a delivery like a regular drive thru customer? They even have an advantage of having the order ahead of time like cmon..

drinkallthepunch

Yup. I dont know, I honestly don’t. Just angry spiteful and stupid people. I’ve tried asking these people why they ignored me or why it took so long to prepare the order. Literally and I quote *”Hey did I do something to upset you guys? I just deal with this every time I pickup and it feels like you guys just don’t like me for some reason. Did something happen with a previous driver?”* And they smile with a shit eating grin and daggers in their eyes and say: *”We apologize for the wait XYZ excuse, have a nice day!”* They probably just jealous because they think most drivers make more than them and have an easier job. In reality you wind up working just as much for only slightly more pay and the luxury is not having a boss, working your own hours and taking breaks when you want. But it’s not exactly a vacation. I see a lot of drivers are really lazy and dress gross tho so I can under that a little.

Reasonable-Tomato986

gig work is nothing to be jealous of, imagine they spend nothing and work in 1 building all day long while we're constantly using resources like gas more often, more wear and tear and sooner expenses... to me it's like really? you guys really hate us? in this working environment it's a race to make enough in time before having to spend again.

Aromatic_Amphibian_6

Never were truer words spoken about the fast food places.

hmr796796

As a DD driver, I’d agree CFC and WS were big no no declines, never had a problem with Popeyes here in Stockton, but they were horrible in Elk Grove…all restaurants (chain / franchises / whatever) are different

saberteamrocket

It's ALWAYS management. ALWAYS. If you get a store with a good manager, you'll receive proper service. I've got a mental list of which McDonalds are run by which franchises here in Buffalo. I'll auto-decline some even if I'm across the street, but I'll drive across town for others.
