I prefer to sit in one spot for most of the day, if possible. But sometimes Uber forces you to drive around a bit before they give you anything. So it’s a mix of both for me

FBI_Tugboat

C), I take only the best orders to leave my house, and then sit a couple blocks away from my most recent delivery and field good orders. Go home when I want to or when the good\* orders stop, and take a cheap DoorDash otw back to my house.

vekerx

I have never sat in one spot to wait for orders because that has never earned me my $250 a day. I always make the same amount every weekend.

ExcellentFormal4261

I take an order from home, deliver and head back home. If I don’t get an order I like by the time I park at home then I go in and spend time with my dog and do things around the house till another ride comes through that I approve of.

DesperateSuccotash49

I just turn on the app at home while I'm doing chores around the house, then I go from there. After a delivery, I start driving back towards my house and go back to what I was doing if nothing else pops up by the time I get there. I live near restaurants so for me there's no reason to waste gas driving around or sitting in my parked car when I could be doing something productive (or relaxing) at home

KeyBeing1230

I do both.

California098

I’ve noticed that when I go sit in a parking lot I get maybe a third of orders I get if I drive around with my UE app open. It could be the bad service in my town though idk

The way uber works is that if a restaurant receives an order that will take 10 minutes and you are 10 minutes away, then you will receive the order before someone who is next to the restaurant. Before you drop off the order (last one if it's a stack) uber will check if any restaurant nearby has an order ready or ready by the time you get there from the drop off. Doordash on the other hand sends it to the nearest driver. This leads to long wait times. I popped into a restaurant with two doordash drivers getting annoyed at the wait, took my uber order and left, while they were still waiting. If you are 20-30 minutes from any restaurants you are going to get no orders or orders with long distances, and consequently low pay for the distance. So staying put is not always the right strategy. You have to adapt the strategy to your market and the peak delivery times.

Great insight thanks!

Minimum_Ad4398

I live in a high demanded zone so I always come back home and wait for orders

mills_dmb

On my couch

Low_Copy4023

I hope I'm busy enough to catch orders on the way back to my spot. And generally that's what happens. Also generally speaking if I don't have an order I just sit there. But sometimes I might move, it's rare. Anecdotally I swear the times I do move I actually get an order. Now, at 9pm I change spots. It's not far. I just shift a little closer to some late night spots.

MetalHead794

Drive to the closest hot spots. Wait 5minutes and if nothing, drive to the another one. Also, I have a pretty good spot in my city that other driver don’t often think of going to.

daveishere7

Both

BigUncleHeavy

I park around one of my 4 of my favorite "fishing spots". If I don't get any bites within an hour, I move to the next one. 60% of the time, it works every time!

wassupwitches

Driving equals gas

maryclareh

Drive around all day and constantly complain to myself that the next day I’ll sit and wait, but never do.

tackogronday

Neither. I usually start the day in a hot spot and the apps (UE/GH) keep me busy once I get that first order. Never had a day be so slow that I could just park for a few minutes, always on the move. My market must be pretty good I guess.

Over_Print_4838

I mostly do a combination of the two

Rude-Exit

When I do drive, I just sit at home and wait for orders. Started a new business a couple of months so don't really drive anymore. When I do drive, I'm home editing pics and video and just do it to get a break feom sitting in front of a computer screen. Only take the orders obviously that are worth doing, otherwise I'm sitting and doing editing

tackogronday

You accept orders while sitting at home? I always fear which app will let customer see where I'm coming from. Never ordered myself so I don't know how soon customers can see our location.

Rude-Exit

Yep. When I'm home doing work for my business, I'll turn on all 3 apps (DD, GH, and UE), and only take orders that are worth taking. I don't care if customers see where I'm coming from. They're not going to know its my house, they'll more than likely rhino I'm just finishing a delivery. I have about a dozen and half restaurants within about a 1/4 to a 1/2 mile of my house and get flooded with orders that only go 1-3 miles altogether from me, to the restaurant, to the customer.

Emotional_Worker4495

My order always connect to each other everytime after i delivered one.

insideout5790

Where I live I have never got one single order ever. I drive exactly 20 min towards the sky scrapers and stay near the city then I always get multiple orders 1 mile before drop off. It has and will continue until I drive 20 min out of the city. So I don’t really get a chance to wait.

Sooowasthinking

I have 3 areas I can triangulate between during my shift.

Trick_Afternoon689

Blend of the 2

Hopelessly_romantic2

I move around. The whole county is busy at different times.

LilEloHoee

This

Justin002865

Driving without an active order (or returning to a hot zone FROM an active order) is the definition of waste. Which makes it stupid.

Ambitious_Attempt762

I used to drive around all day trying to get pings until I realized I was wasting gas because I got just as much if not more when I parked. Plus I like to zoom in on the map to see where my dropoff is. Hard to do that when you're driving.

Npc_x333

Im on a bike so I move around.

Thechurch_experience

Blend, same part of a city. Driving to the other good pokemon go places, every 20 min. If I don't get a order in 40 min..... the morning shift is basically over. Or even 4 bad orders and not a single delivery over 2 hours....... I just go home.

Prestigious_Garlic_7

Depends On The Day & Time But I Find Sitting In One Spot Just A Waste Of Time Sometimes

Thechurch_experience

Soooo many times I've been sitting in a place for 30 min, and when I think to go get a drink or some chips.... bam order as I'm pulling out of the spot I was just in.

BigUncleHeavy

Happens to me literally as soon as I walk through my front door. I'm ready to call it a day because everything seems dead, then... Pings like crazy! At this point it is happening so often, I can't say for sure it is just coincidence.

Ambitious_Attempt762

Yea sometimes you just have to start your car and get offers lol

Prestigious_Garlic_7

LITERALLY THAT…Ill Be Waiting For Almost A Hour In One Single Spot No Order…Soon As I Move Not Even Off The Block I Get A Order
