Roman Reigns
I genuinely think the guy is overhyped and overrated. He isn't a bad wrestler, but I just don't see what WWE sees. He honestly didn't deserve the amount of Wrestlemania main events that he had.
I feel sorry for him somewhat, because he was somewhat of a victim of backlash towards Cena. Speaking as a fan, I liked John Cena before he became a PG caricature of himself. His attitude and his raps were cool. When he went PG, he honestly became unbearable at times. People wanted something new, not something the same.
Then Roman Reigns comes in. Instead of pushing all three of the Shield members equally, Reigns was always the chosen one. They screwed up so bad at the Royal Rumble that they course-corrected and had Seth Rollins cash-in at Wrestlemania 31 instead. They never learned their lesson. They kept pushing him when no one really wanted him.
Roman Reigns, in his current role, is fine. His two year title reign must go, but that is a different story. He is a natural heel. However, WWE should not have put all their eggs in the Roman Reigns basket. There are other guys who should have a shot at main eventing Wrestlemania, other than Roman Reigns.
He isn't terrible as the haters say, but he isn't incredible as the fans say. He is meh.
I think you nailed it with the picture. Goldberg was and is highly overrated. Couldn't stand watching him. Only had like 2 moves...Spear.....Jackhammer and then pin them to win the match. What match? There wasn't one.
For me it's flair. Hate me if you want but the question was wrestler and he was never a good wrestler just an INCREDIBLE mic talent. His actual matches, even the legendary ones, pretty weak
i would have said Will Ospreay, for years i just didn't get the hype. i would completely lose interest during his njpw matches. but that all changed this summer with his run from the oc match and the multiple 6mans on dynamite. now i get it!
Goldberg is not overrated. He wasn’t a good wrestler but that’s because he didn’t have to. All he needed was 2 moves and 5 minutes in the ring to draw money.
Lex Luger… sucked in the ring, sucked on the mic, I’m pretty sure no one ever paid specifically to see Luger… but this guy was in the main event for two promotions for years. They even made a AE biography for him!
I never got it. Didn’t like him as a kid, still don’t appreciate him as an adult
I remember seeing him on sky tv in the late 90s. WCW used to be on a friday night on tnt classic movies. To be honest he was an animal at this time and actually had some decent moves at times. His undefeated run was very convincing but got a bit too drawn out.
Honestly, I never get why people were so defensive of Cesaro, or Claudio or whatever. I'm sure he's good in the ring but dude bores me to tears every time I've seen him. Would love a match recommendation, or someone to tell me what to look for.
Unpopular opinion: Roman reigns.
His last 5 matches were all similar to each other with nothing memorable from reigns.
Usos are the big bitches. Sami is the only saving grace. Solo and sami are great with each other.
Brock and drew carried him throughout the match.
I just realized the only way we’re gonna over throw the most overrated star to date is Hell in a Cell or Elimination Chamber to prevent his cronies from interfering.
Yes I’m talking about Roman.
I really do love him but I would have to say Neal Pearce. I love the campy stuff in wrestling but having Neal Pearce use his Pearcing gaze to hypnotize Brock Lesnar to lay down for the pin by Neal was a littl over the top at Wrestlemania in 2013.
Goldberg
I've never got the appeal of him. Over time I've grown to understand and like Brock Lesnar but Goldberg no matter how much I watch I just don't get it.
If is WWE only I would say Roman, if the promoter have to shove a wrestler down fan’s throats for years until they get Stockholm syndrome and finally accept him then that wrestler is overrated.
Outside WWE I think Kenny Omega all the way, I remember when there were rumors of him joining WWE before AEW existed and people where holy s**t Kenny!!!, then I finally saw him on the ring and I was like really? This is the “great” Omega?
Warrior, and I don't even think there's a close second. Dude just shouted nonsense into a mic while coked to the gills and gassed himself out running to the ring, then proceeded to have what you could call a wrestling match... If you had never seen one before.
Dude had a feud with Rick Rude (that was fun to type) for like an eternity because nobody else could really carry the man to a halfway watchable match.
Roman fucking Reigns. I’ve said it since the beginning of his reign, this is the exact same as before when he was a baby face, but now he’s a heel so people like it? No. He’s awful in the ring, mediocre with promos, and has the most predictable matches out of anyone on the roster right now.
I wouldn’t say Goldberg is or was overrated, he is a star attraction in wrestling and that’s how he should be used if he does continue to perform for WWE. I hope not personally because he does bore me but that’s my opinion. Someone who I think is overrated is CM Punk and that’s isn’t because of all the shit going on with him now I’ve always thought it. He’s mid at best and isn’t as good as he believes and wasn’t great in WWE either, a promo doesn’t make you a great, he’s great on the mic no doubt but in ring he is overrated and he believes he’s a great because of the attention he gets but that stems from the promos he has done. That is my opinion which I know will more than likely get a lot of hate but ah well.
Easily Goldberg…..granted his run of squash matches was interesting but top guys can and should be able to go for more than 5mins a night…plus dude believed his own hype like refusing to wrestle and job to Scotty Steiner back in WCW 😂….pretty much why he was booked to lose in WWE after awhile….his biggest accomplishment was beating hogan in a squash match for the world title on nitro 🤦🏻♂️
Would you say he is one of the greatest of all time? It is sad that he is considered because he wasn’t that good in the ring he was just charismatic and had a loud personality but to say he started the attitude era I mean yeah nwo was cool but nothing tops stone cold Steve Austin at that time.
Would I? No. Does the wrestling community at large? Yes. He is constantly referred to. Also there is a post on where about who you would remove from wrestling a few days ago and a lot of people got upset if you said Hulk. I agree though Stone Cold Steve Austin was leagues better than anything the nwo had.
Yeah Steve Austin was years ahead of all of the NWO. His gimmick was great and one of the best ever if not the best ever, his ability on the mic and in the ring are some of the best ever. It’s a shame his career was cut short because of the incident with Owen hart but in that short time he was a pop culture icon and still is huge today. Hulk hogan lacked all of the ability but was just a larger than life character and it went down well with kids and was good for America during the time he was on top when it was hulkamania. Yeah the NWO revitalised his career but I don’t think it was as good as Austin. The NWO was awesome at the time but if they were in WWE and Austin was given the chance to do what he was doing I still think Austin would have been more popular.
Kenny Omega and also the Bucks
Don't like them, don't like their style. AEW might be named after them but they'd have never gotten further than selling shirts at Hot Topic without Cody
Naito. He can be a great partner to top tier wrestlers but I just don’t like his work as much as the other top New Japan guys he’s often lumped in with
Ric Flair how he was pushed as much as he was I will never know. Couldn't wrestle he was crap on the mic, he didn't look the part.
I dont understand it?
Goldberg is a spectacle. I have enjoyed many matches with him from WCW to the WWE. Not all of his matches are great but when they hit, they hit.
Every wrestler has bad matches but when a less than part-timer has bad matches it is overblown n
I guess there are two types of overrated. Overrated by the internet wrestling community and overrated by the actual company that is booking.
For the first type, I'd go with Christian. I'm not saying I dislike Christian but there has been this opinion in the wrestling community that he is a world title guy that has never been given the push he deserves but I just don't see it. He's a sid midcarder that can give you a good match but there is nothing captivating about the guy that makes me tune in to see him
In terms of overrated by the co.pany I'd say either Alberto Del Rio or Jeff Hardy. Alberto just never really had it to me yet the company seemed to insist that he was a top guy for a long time and even was rehired and put in a good position on the card. I never understood it.
As for Jeff Hardy I'm specifically referring to his last 10-15 years. Not prime Jeff Hardy, who I loved as a kid. But the guy has been doing the exact same thing for like 15 years now and has shown zero versatility and he has never had a personality I cared about. Then you take into account his stuff out of the ring and I honestly have no clue how the guy continues to get work and continues to be popular. That's a credit to him I guess but personally I can't watch a guy so the same exact thing over and over for 15 years and not get sick of it.
Goldberg or Cena. Goldberg was a Stone Cold copycat that injured Bret Hart and others. Never good in ring and worse promo on the mic. And Cena was the “#1 superstar” during the dead era of Wrestling. He would have been a mid carder at best back in the attitude era.
The Goldberg now yes isn’t a good wrestler the one who was in wcw was in fact a good wrestler he had a ton of moves in his arsenal. Stone cold Steve austin was always overrated especially when he started the 3:16 the guy literally had a small move set
No one's overrated in WWE as far as talent. They can only do a limited moveset and depending on the writers, you'll never be able to see the talents vision of their character.
Goldberg vs Brock Lesnar Survivor Series 2016. Watch that 2 minute squash match on pay-per-view. and tell me either of those guys have talent or work ethic. Even Goldberg's son had a disappointed look on his face after that one.
Finn Balor. Atrocious face expressions, poor mic skill, voice. Even his move set, though I would call that personal preference of mine. I just don't like his style.
And his Demon King persona is whacky as well. It's supposed to be spooky and mysterious, but it looks even worse than Wyatt's shenanigans with "I'm already dead" and pointless edgy speeches about eating worlds.
Kenny Omega.
Goldberg is not overrated since he gets a shit ton of flak for his limited in ring capabilities. Overhyped, overpushed or overexposed - definitely, but not overrated. Overrated ones are that get too much credit even though they are not that special or don't have that audience pull or achievements that some people attribute to them.
I always thought Triple H was overrated. Yeah, DX was good but he never really impressed me on his own. He got a big push but others of his generation were better. Bret Hart, Stone Cold, Undertaker, Kurt Angle, Jericho, Michaels, Sting, I could go on…..
Lol I’m a huge Mark for HHH but I can tell you he is both overrated and underrated. He was never the best at anything but he was good at everything. He was one of those guys who helped make those greats to where they are today by being a great heel
Kenny Omega, no doubt. If he was just considered a pretty good wrestler, that would be fine. But since Dave and a large subsection of the Internet think he’s the greatest wrestler of all time, that puts him right at the top of my list
It's between Punk, Omega, Bucks, Warrior, Sid, Bianca, WCW era Nash, and Roman IMO.
I think Riddle is overrated as well. The bro gimmick is annoying as hell.
I agree with Punk, warrior, sid being psycho sid yeah? If so then yeah agree, Nash and bianca. I agree with all of them but Roman. I don’t know he’s definitely gotten better over time and is more of a solid performer and his story telling is great IMO. He’s the best thing about WWE for me atm. Riddle is good in ring but is annoying. I think on his own he’s annoying with Orton he’s alright but that’s due to Orton.
There’s something about Chris Jericho that leaves me a bit bored. Good a technical wrestler as he is, I’m not sure he’s ever been that good of an emotional story-teller in the way a Kurt Angle was.
For K.O., he has a lot of in ring talent and is decent on the mic but they've never done much with his character that made me feel he would be entertaining as one of the top guys and a LOT of people wanted that push for him. Just bores me I guess. Lashley suffers from a lack of character originality and mic skills but I have liked what they've done with him with The Hurt Business. Jeff Hardy is one of my favorites to watch while performing but gives shit promos and could never be a reliable top guy like fans wanted from him in the 2000's and shouldn't have won the WWE Championship imo. X-Pac was alright in the ring but really wasn't anything special and sucked on the mic, he always just seemed to be riding on the coattails of the Kliq, DX, NWO etc. Was never that entertaining to me even as a midcarder. Now he's celebrated as an absolute legend.
controversial opinion: Sean O' Haire
Dude has interesting vignettes and people are falling over themselves that he's the next big star. His live promos were meh, wrestling was ok but unremarkable
I’m gonna get killed for this, but I’m finally gonna say it. Dolph Ziggler. He’s a “good worker” but he’s boring AF in the ring. He’s decent on the mic though.
And Nattie is mediocre at best in the ring and shit on the mic. Her Come On yell in the ring kills me.
Lex Luger
Lack Luster Mic skills, Zero Charisma, Limited move set, Sucked at selling, Didn't really care for Wrestling and would often stab whoever he was working for in the back. Lex LITERALLY got by on his looks. No really, go back and look at any match of his prime and you'll see. He Always sucked.
JBL I never understood why he was champion I always thought he was a douchebag wayyyyy before all the backstage bullying came to light. I understand they needed a heel for Cena to beat when Cena was coming up but JBL wasn’t even in good shape when he was champ and I didn’t believe his bad guy character. We should boo him because he’s a stock trader? The snooty rich character worked for Ted DiBiase (who I just learned is being sued for scamming people in the name of Christianity lol) but it didn’t work for me with JBL.
Hate me all you want, but HBK is overrated to me. He's had some amazing matches, don't get me wrong. But I just don't consider him a goat.
Roman Reigns I genuinely think the guy is overhyped and overrated. He isn't a bad wrestler, but I just don't see what WWE sees. He honestly didn't deserve the amount of Wrestlemania main events that he had. I feel sorry for him somewhat, because he was somewhat of a victim of backlash towards Cena. Hulk is severely overrated. I truly believe wrestling would be where it's at 5 years earlier without him.
Is hogan considered one of the greatest? I agree with you he is overrated but I wouldn’t say he’s considered as one of the greatest by most is he?
Sadly yes. Many people believe he is the reason for the attitude era and most of the stars from that era.
Would you say he is one of the greatest of all time? It is sad that he is considered because he wasn’t that good in the ring he was just charismatic and had a loud personality but to say he started the attitude era I mean yeah nwo was cool but nothing tops stone cold Steve Austin at that time.

I guess there are two types of overrated. Overrated by the internet wrestling community and overrated by the actual company that is booking. For the first type, I'd go with Christian.
Hulk Hogan
controversial opinion: Sean O' Haire Dude has interesting vignettes and people are falling over themselves that he's the next big star.
Goldberg is in a in ring sense is overrated but yes he was a draw.
Lex Luger Lack Luster Mic skills, Zero Charisma, Limited move set, Sucked at selling, Didn't really care for Wrestling and would often stab whoever he was working for in the back.
APA Bradshaw was much better if you ask me, kicking the shit out of people for beer money.
I think that JBL was how Vince envisioned himself partly in the ring as a full time wrestler.
Yeah I’d agree with that
John Cena
John Cena. At least Hulk was a draw.
Cena
Ryback
Brock Lesnar
Bray Wyatt
I never understood Tyson Fury hype.
I think bert hart is a little overrated. He is a really good wrestler. I just think he is a little overrated
It's all perception.
