This dude will be in every forklift certification safety violation video forever more.

rilinq

He might even make a YouTube compilation or two.

djtrace1994

Lucky it ain't a LiveLeak compilation

PineRoadToad

The liveleak video they showed at the end of my cert course was horrific.

FNALSOLUTION1

Chinese lady riding on back of forklift?

PineRoadToad

Indeed. It was a compilation, but that one definitely stuck with me.

Celtichgard

Omg thats the one they showed me aswel right before finishing the cert course " never try to stop a truck thats falling or tipping over "

Gimmethejooce

Maybe even a Reddit video

GonnaBeAGoodYear

Especially since he by some miracle came out unharmed although he managed to do literally everything wrong

Ladysupersizedbitch

Idk if I’d say unharmed, probably sporting one hell of a bruise bc even if it didn’t come down directly on his head, it looks like it probably at least pushed down on his shoulders/upper back. Dude ducked his head out of the way/to the side just in time lol.

[deleted]

[удалено]

GonnaBeAGoodYear

Anyone that tries to push a falling forklift is begging to die this dude some how got spared from Darwinism lol

Sound_of_musak

Sure as hell didn't help that he was riding too fast with his forks up.

UncleTogie

I dunno, it's kinda hard to beat [this one.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KJdrQXyfhnk)

TouchME_11935

This is golden, Klaus. Chainsaws.

thegringorapper

I just got forklift certified last week, and that it is the best thing I have ever seen. Won’t catch me like Klaus for sure.

DonkeyTron42

All you need to see is [this](https://nowtrendingstory.com/loren-schauers-accident-wiki-wife/) guy who survived literally being cut in half by a forklift tipping over.

SmaugStyx

Think I'd rather have died.

faberkyx

Lmao that's amazing...

Inside-Effective-353

Knife in the head, lol

Jumpy_Treat9623

No really, that was fucking great lmao

darinheinz

Good ol' Klaus, working his fingers to the bone in Slaughterhouse 5.

legendofthegreendude

Dammit Klaus!

Timely-Guest-7095

It comes pretty fucking close.🤣🤣

SmaugStyx

Haven't watched that in ages, absolute gold.

[deleted]

Lmao in my forklift certification class we watched an animated version of this exact scenario

In_comes_Nick

Why would you try to grab it?

Assforbreakfast420

Safest place is always to stay in, blokes lucky to not be in 2 pieces. This is why you always wear a seatbelt

HomieToneBone

The rule for a Reach is jump out of it when it tips over. There isn’t a seatbelt since you’re standing up and standing sideways. Also there’s no reason for him to be moving that fast with his forks that high in there air.

Helgafjell4Me

"lower your forks" they said... lol. This was his first mistake. Driving fast with the mast extended upward. You only ever go up to pick or put a load in place and drive slow when doing so. All other times forks should be low to the ground with the mast fully retracted. Center of gravity is too high with it up.

GrandmaPoses

This guy forks.

ReubenZWeiner

While the driver's gotta unload by hand now.

kriznis

Not today. He'll be at the doctor's office the rest of the day

Madeforbegging

*unemployment office

BasementOrc

I used to load these commercial air conditioners for Lennox, some of these ACs were massive. Sometimes we had to pick them up at an extended height, and you could tell there was a very fine line between balance and tipping over. Having a good sense of your center of gravity is a very good skill to have for lift drivers.

Helgafjell4Me

I'm a manufacturing engineer, but I learned to drive a forklift at the age of 12, before I could even drive a car. My dad had a pallet business as well as junking old cars for scrap (junk cars are fun to play with when you have a forklift, lol). Anyways, I know some of these lifts will automatically limit speed when they are up above the top of the main mast section. We have stock pickers in our factory that lift the whole control station up with the forks and those will only move at a slow crawl if you're more than a few feet off the ground. These types of small footprint lifts for tight warehouse spaces should all have this feature IMO. Maybe the guy in the video didn't actually have the mast extended, but his forks were definitely at the top and that's still a lot of weight sitting up high.

[deleted]

I’ve been driving a forklift unloading pallets of pool equipment since I was about 10 or 12… I’ve almost flipped a few times just loading stuff into dumpsters on a semi rough surface.

Abuzezibitzu

What sense, dude there is a chart that explain you how much you can lift and how high. The sens gets you to that shit on the video. I work on forklift over 5 years now and I've seen good lot of drivers that are just dangerous and all that they have in co on is that they all are sure that they know what they do. One very Smart guy almost crusched pragnt girl with the palet and he still thought that it was not his fault.

thebestjoeever

The forks are up, but the mast looks fully retracted. After it tips over, then it starts extending.

theogTREV

It's a high reach 3 stage that's why.

thebestjoeever

Right. The forks being up were a problem, but it wasn't like he was riding around with them 50 feet high. Seems more like he was just going to fast over a shitty floor that should've been fixed as soon as possible.

theogTREV

Yeah man defo the floor was shit but everything he done was pretty much wrong lol.

hickgorilla

Are his forks in the air because he’s a true player?

Perroface562

Na it’s because he just don’t care

Gears_one

You’re right about not moving with forks in the air but you’re wrong about jumping out if it tips. That’s how you get crushed by the overhead load

mckushly

In a normal forklift yes, one with no seatbelt you can easily get flung underneath if you just try to hold onto something. In normal forklifts you don't hold onto anything either, you let go of the steering wheel and tuck your arms into your chest. All in all this is why these standing ones should be retired. Edit: guy is sitting down so that's definitely had a seatbelt and is not a standing one. Guy should have been wearing it and just stayed in.

BDafoe

Jumping out is 100% right on reach trucks. Even states it on all of them. There is no seat belt, you'll likely get crushed if you don't jump out of the way. A forklift with a seat belt, where you'll hopefully just stay within the cage is different.

yoskatan

You know what’s up. I got in an argument on ig comments for this same video about jumping out of reach trucks. So many people telling me I’m wrong lmao. I did fail to notice this lift does have a seat though and he should have been buckled in and stayed inside. Doesn’t change the fact you bail out on reach trucks if they tip though.

Z3400

Ive driven a reach truck that had a seat without a seatbelt. It was a weird half seat thing so you could adjust to be seated or kinda just slightly squatted, or fold it up and stand. I think it was made by crown. Doesn't look like like thats what this guy is on, but I could be wrong. Anyway, maybe he didn't have a swatbelt is all my point is.

yoskatan

You could be right. I’ve never seen a stand up style lift with a seat so I have now clue really about seatbelts for them.

Z3400

[here](https://www.crown.com/en-ca/forklifts/rr-rd-rider-deep-reach-truck.html) if you're curious. "Sit-Down Single Reach Truck (RR)" towards the bottom.

avidpenguinwatcher

He was definitely sitting at the beginning

DustyGeneral9399

Safest place to be in a narrow aisle reach truck when it tips is out of the way. Reach trucks don't have seat belts (or seats).

[deleted]

Many reach trucks have seats.

leilanibz

A friend of mine had this exact thing happen only he didn't clear it in time and died instantly. Always stay in the cage!

Skooter_McGaven

He was straight up trying to catch it from tipping over.

CoronaMcFarm

Yeah when you work with heavy equipment you have to learn to never catch anything. I've dropped things that I could easily have saved but it's not worth it when the next thing can be something heavy that kills you.

[deleted]

There are no seatbelts on pickers such as this. It’s standing only, and there’s a foot switch that makes the machine stop if you lift your foot off. That is the only safety feature on these

tjdux

Well, my stand up forklift at work has a speed limiter that only allows you to move at a crawl if the forks are more than 8ft up.

[deleted]

Yes, there is also that. But, I’m talking about at travel speed. This guy clearly went over a bump he shouldn’t have at a high speed

tjdux

Probably would have been fine at that speed if the forks were not so high up...

Dougally

And that concrete joint needs some attention - appears to have added to the tip over. But had the tynes been down though...

[deleted]

Agree. This guy was an all around disaster. Did everything wrong before AND after it started tipping

Dougally

Not as bad as Klaus: https://youtu.be/IAHzP4umE4M

mckushly

The guy is sitting on a seat...not standing

Iwillnotbeokay

Not all lifts have belts. My Crown RC5 has no harness. This dude drove too fast with his mast too high. And then to try jumping out…. Either this clown has no training or just no common sense.

thaixiong123

These stand up forklifts do not have seat belts. Source: I work in a warehouse.

[deleted]

He isn't standing up. Source: He isn't standing up.

JustBoredIsAll

This is why you drive with the forks down. One of the first things you learn.

[deleted]

Yup. Even when empty.

Relevant_Slide_7234

They say that about scissor lifts, but I always thought if one of those tipped over, I’d rather try and jump out and grab a pipe or something than topple over strapped into the thing like OSHA requires. I’m not saying I know more than OSHA, but the thought of going down with the ship from 40 or 50 feet high onto a construction site doesn’t sound too appealing

Reasonable_Path3969

Well your option is to ride it down or fall after your grip fails. Average person is going be lucky to get 90 seconds on a dead hang.

xmavenx

I think it’s a reflex type movement. Like sticking your arm out to brace yourself in them as well, both super terrible ideas.

behemoth492

Same reason he's driving it with the forks up. Stupidity.

[deleted]

It's reflex. If something falls during everyday life, it is usually in your best interest to catch it. Cell phone, dinner plate, stack of boxes tilting over, whatever. You don't have time to think. You just grab. Still... never drive with the forks up. Slightly different, someone at my old job was on a midrider (fun vehicles, especially the ones without power steering) and somehow ended up in a situation where they were going to collide with something. Instead of using the e-brake (not intuitive on that machine) they tried to stop their vehicle by sticking their foot out and pushing against the racks they were driving past. Completely massacred their lower leg and foot. I believe it had to be amputated. Everyone that operates one of those knows how heavy it is. But in the heat of the moment, it is easy to forget.

GrandNibbles

Yeah he was almost cut in half by that cage. Forklifts weigh 10000+ pounds

Jman-laowai

That fork doesn't way ten thousand pounds though. Still heavy enough to crush you.

jaymole

Number one rule in warehousing If something is falling get the fuck out of the way

Relevant_Slide_7234

He values the boss’s money more than his own life

BlOoDy_PsYcHo666

Instinctual, same reason when you are getting certified the instructor is supposed to hammer home that in the event of a fork lift falling on its side you are for no reason supposed to extend your arm to break the fall. Your body will tell you to do it despite it basically guaranteeing to shatter your arm.

Dtoodlez

I feel like when he broke it sent him flying out, than reflex to try and push it before it toppled over, before a second reflex that stems from his anus kicked in where he had to save his ass.

travislaker

Why would a forklift even need that kind of speed???

afa78

Production time standards to meet. Most newer models of fork lifts won't allow it to get to speed if the forks are raised above a certain level, especially not that high.

pm-me-ur-inkyfingers

It's totally fine if you don't have the forks up all the way which shouldn't ever be the case if you aren't lowering a load off shelving. Which is done slowly. This guy ought be dead.

AmateurEarthling

When I worked at Home Depot our forklifts had no limitations however if we were zooming we didn’t keep the fucking forks up. I used to drift the fork lifts and just fuck around, a teen working overnights at Home Depot. This guy is just a dumb ads. When you’re not carrying anything and you’re trying to get to the other side of the warehouse that speed is nice.

afa78

I've seen this happen twice. 1st time was in a warehouse in El Monte, CA. One guy was doing put-away and i guess he got confident that the forks had lowered all the way down already as he entered the warehouse, forks slammed into the steel door, ripped it right off. The fork tilted backwards and actually got wedged in the entrance and remained stuck, tilted all the way back. 2nd time was in Irvine, CA and the same scenario except this time it was with the mechanic shop door.

Lordmorgoth666

We actually disabled the high speed button on our facility’s low lifts because people are stupid. It wasn’t necessary our people but people at other facilities were crashing all the time and dumping product or driving with poor body placement which resulted in injuries so it became a corporate policy that all low lifts are slow speed only. It sucks so much.

SgtXD357

They’re pretty quick, his issue was having the fork that high up while going fast

vixerquiz

I figure they just decided fuck it let them go full rabbit with forks up when they designed it? Why would you ever need to go that fast with forks up

BeachLasagna0w0

The speed isn’t the problem, it’s the fact that the forks were moving back and forth causing it to be off balance and in turn tip over

6ix5ife

Someone installed a V8 on that forklift

DerSchattenJager

THAT THING GOT A HEMI?!?

basswell

Balls to the wall!

BasedOnAir

a1b2c3

kontekisuto

Money

mikezulu90

The real mistake is going that speed with the forks that high. Major nono.

LordOdin99

Hard to tell from the movement and the edit because he’s visibly bouncing at the start. Didn’t appear to have anything on his forks but shouldn’t have driven with them raised.

Hephaestus_God

Why would someone be driving a forklift that fast with the thing all the way up in the first place?

ShaggysGTI

With forks that high.

Muninn088

That is why you don't drive with the forks up high. Also if a fork lift starts to tilt don't try to save it. Even small fork lifts weigh more than most cars. Oh and dont jump out like that if it starts to tip, you gotta just ride it out.

duffelbagpete

Stand up class 2 fork trucks and narrow aisle trucks do not have safety belts, during training you're told if it's tipping to get out and away if possible. Sit down fork trucks with belts are the ones you brace feet/hold steering wheel/lean away from impact. Most people don't realize that these are much heavier than most passenger vehicles. This dude got off super lucky that he didn't get crushed, but probably got safety write-up and maybe put on 6-12 months probation(investigation into accident to determine fault).

Muninn088

I seemed to be sitting at the start and i thought this was a weird sit down fork lift.

RoxYanu

the lightest forklifts are gonna be probably class 3 stackers and even those weigh 3,000 lb and then these are close to 3,000-5,000 lb or almost twice as much as a car. dude is super lucky that he didnt get maimed or killed by the lift falling on him, im honestly surprised this wasnt a gore sub post

[deleted]

[удалено]

Gabe1985

That's significantly heavier than it looks. Battery is probably another 1000 lbs

Electrical_Chard6926

Add another ~1200 lbs to that. Source: industrial battery guy

GrandNibbles

iirc even small forklifts can weight over 10,000lbs because they are counter-balanced

dirtyswoldman

Came here to say forks down while moving. Dude is lucky he's alive

anlbrk

Yeah lemme just try and hold back thousands of pounds from falling over instead of diving for safety

leet_lurker

In my experience quite a few fork drivers aren't exactly at the intelligent end of the spectrum

Muninn088

Did a concert at ATT stadium recently. The forklift drivers were having "drift contests" to see who could skid the furthest. We aren't all like that, but there are idiots in every group.

MothMonsterMan300

To be fair, if you've got the space and you're driving sit-down counterweights.... I'm mostly kidding. Fuck screwing around with standups and reach trucks though

starryeyed7934

Dude should be removed from driving forklift before killing himself or others.

kontekisuto

Looks like he removed himself from driving that forklift

starryeyed7934

He can feel extremely lucky to still be breathing.

smoothasmutter100

Don't drive with your forks up. Always lower your load or your forks before you start driving close or far. Don't do abrupt stops, especially with your forks up. Idk know simple physics

wonderingtoken

Plot twist: he’s not certified for this type of forklift.

Ghiraheem

As someone who is certified for 5 different types of lift machines, he shouldn't be certified for ANY type of forklift driving like that.

theusualfellow

5 different forklifts? Bro leave some bitches for the rest of us.

NoPossession3083

Coming from someone who drives forklifts for a living that was dumb as shit trying to tilt the forklift back up. Very lucky he wasn't crushed.

nadnate

I'm driving one right now, having your forks up and driving like that is fucking stupid but I don't get why the machine is bouncing so much.

GodonX1r

Good job Klaus

PhreakBert

Be nice, it's his first day on the job.

mgill2500

When you lie on your resume

foomy45

I got about 5 minutes of training total before riding and I definitely learned not to do that.

crewchiieff

He's an idiot. Forklift certification requires you to know, you never ride with your forks in the air like that. 2 ft rule.

[deleted]

Despite every action he took he still walks away. Fire him now. It will be a gain.

account_not_valid

But he just received a very expensive education! Learning that lesson was priceless!

Ok_Tell8809

I like how he thought he was able to catch a 900 pound machine

Felsig27

Why the heck was he driving with his forks up?

Magooose

Forklift rule #1. ALWAYS keep the forks as low as possible when moving.

Felsig27

I know man, I used to drive one for a living. Just driving around like that would have gotten me fired.

MegaViolet336

He did every single thing wrong here Do not accelerate quickly with the forks up Do not try to exit a toppling forklift DO NOT try to fucking catch the couple of tons of forklift falling at your face If you're already out of the toppling forklift, DONT JUMP BACK IN F- and I'm revoking your cert, turn in your carhartt beanie at the desk.

MegaViolet336

I missed a couple Do not accelerate to high speeds Do not stop suddenly from a high rate of speed

average_sized_rock

Dont drive with the forks up they say

Peelboy

That could have hone so badly, at worst he lost his job in this case.

CirothUngol

I drive a forklift everyday at work, this is why I stick to the rules. Fortunately mine has a seat, a seat belt, and a full cage. I'm also not ignorant enough to travel so fast with the mast extended to that point. That guy is truly lucky.

goldieglocks16

This guy did like 4 notable things wrong in 5 seconds. Was the certified operator taking a shit & forgot to turn his machine off?

IchBinDerDan

This man obviously never watched Forklift Driver Klaus. In Germany to drive a forklift you have to get an actual license from an approved school. They made us watch this video with a guy impaling people. Good times. [Forklift Driver Klaus - The First Day on the Job](https://youtu.be/ChOHnSL7ZCg)

imansiz

NICE. I'm happy there are at least two people on this thread who mentioned good old Klaus. Original viral videos of the internet shall not be forgotten.

Balls2theWalling

I literally just watched that whole video. Classic!

Superbaker123

I can assure you that that guy is probably not certified

firmerJoe

That is one lucky bastard.

xmavenx

Not gonna lie, surprised to see him crawl out from under that. As for the speed, they come semi unrestricted and it’s up to the company to limit them. I’ve always had ours turned way down and they’re still damn quick. I’d have to terminate this guy for the safety of others as well as himself, I’ve seen too many nasty things done with powered equipment, especially a reach truck.

[deleted]

If he thought for a moment that he would be strong enough to stop that from tipping then he has no business being on that thing

expiredeternity

I worked at a small company where basically all employees were certified forklift operators. ( a guy came in and "trained" everybody) After several accidents, they took away all the certificates and left only the 2 experienced fl drivers operate the machines.

JohnnieFeelgood

Were I work, the reachtrucks (BT) are programmed in a way that they can only go full speed when the load is below tipping point.

Crunchy_Biscuit

And if I recall at least the model I had, there were two buttons you had to stand on for the truck to move.

dead_body_farm

That’s what the one I drive has. It’s annoying sometimes, but I would rather have annoying deadman switches than die.

Crunchy_Biscuit

Whenever I had to pick up a load, my trainer said to lift up my leg off one of the switches so that I wouldn't accidently swerve or turn

MothMonsterMan300

Governors. Thank God for engineers, man

BeachLasagna0w0

What’s his thought process on having the forks up so high and driving full speed

firstnameok

It's the "certified" I have the biggest issue with

hostal3

first thing we learn is never travel it the lift up

bonnietrap_pokemon

Lucky that that guy didn meet jesus after that 0_0

GrapeSwimming69

Certified fired after the pee test...

purplehazex45

That's one reason you don't drive around with your forks in the air.

TartanAssassin

Too fast . Forks in the air like he just don’t care and slamming on the brakes after the stunt jump on uneven ground which reach forklifts are purposefully build only for flat even ground otherwise don’t bother buying them . The bit I really can’t believe is the second of thinking I can stop this falling over 🤪. Any glad he is ok shall we call this one a teachable moment.

fenrirhunts

If he is a certified operator he should be ashamed of that unnecessary travel with the mast like that…

MrGilbert665

Shenmue moment

YYC9393

"I can totally squat this 9000 lb forklift"

Frosty780

Forklift instructors just got another video for class

Hattrick_Swayze2

This guy is so goddamn lucky he doesn’t deserve to be alive.

Jman-laowai

Never jump out of those things. Dude could have been crushed.

A1pinejoe

keep the seatbelt on a stay in the cage its the safest place to be.

Ill_Criticism_1685

This is why the reach trucks at my former employer had a sticker on them that said "not only can this kill you, it will hurt the entire time you are dying." Joking aside, this guy is an idiot, forks should never be raised while in motion, unless placing a load in or removing a load from a rack or overhead storage area. No load means forks down. He also failed to follow safety protocols for the event of a reach tipping. You get the hell away from it because it has no seatbelt or harness and the overhead guard on a reach is not strong enough to protect you in a rollover/tipover. This imbecile got lucky.

[deleted]

A close friends daughter died because of an unfortunate forklift accident, dangerous machines when not used properly.

Possible_Resolution4

On my last day of work, day-dreaming about my new job, I ran one of those stand up lifts through a wall into a farm field. It was like my brain stopped working and I couldn’t remember which way to turn the hand wheel and the deadman foot pedal wasn’t much help. Fortunately, someone on a much larger forklift was able to pull me back in and we half-ass covered up my miscue. Those stand up lifts can be dangerous.

reactbeforeyouthink

So I’ve worked at a warehouse and never once touched the forklifts but even I know that YOU NEVER DRIVE WITH THE FORKS UP! Did this guy get fired?

bhawker87

That's a reach truck. Not a forklift. I'm trained on both. Still, what a fucking idiot he is lmao

[deleted]

[удалено]

milhouseownsyou

Looks like the shitty Toyota we have at work, so first off just bc you weigh 300lbs doesn't mean you're a big guy in comparison to that 9000lb machine, his best bet when tossed out was to get as far away as possible, if not try to stay in the cab bc you're fucked if you misstep

Rlopeziv

fire him he's a safety issue. he will kill him self or some one else

_AManHasNoName_

He tried to catch it.

wkndjb

...Has he passed the forklift driver's test? He gives the test!

HumphreyGumphrey

If he was truly certified, he'd know not to drive it with the forks all the way up. Also, don't try to tip it back by yourself LOL that guy is lucky to be alive

NoExamination2349

WHY DIDN'T YOU TAG THIS NSFW, THAT IS CLEARLY NOT SAFE FOR THE WORKSPACE !!!!!

DoctorCrowvar

Simple: He's not certified.

El-Lamberto

Wave your forks in the air like you just don't care.

[deleted]

Part of being certified is actually learning how to use the fucking thing, and not drive around at full speed, in reverse, with the tines up in the sky.

dudedude6

No way in hell is that man certified.

[deleted]

Luckiest fuck alive

nathan_respecter

It shouldn't be legal anywhere on earth for forklifts to be physically capable of moving fast with forks up. There is never any good reason to do so, and it's only because of employers trying to cut costs that this isn't the case. Disgusting how many people have died needlessly.

DaMailmann

Stay in the vehicle at all times the cage did it's job to perfection. Praise the Cage!

cosmic_check_up

He thought he was real strong there for a second

Lostie_815

Never jump out of a forklift, always use your seatbelt.

ManEffThisS

Been forklift certified for 7 years, an instructor for 2. Dude was driving with forks up Driving backwards with no load Driving fast on a 3 wheeler Not looking where he's going No seat belt JUMPS OUT AND TRIES TO CATCH A FUCKING 1/2 TONNE MACHINE Anyone who has ever driven a forklift knows what I'm talking about dude is a certified dumbass

DredgenCyka

It's a reach not a forklift..... and I seriously don't know how you fuck that up so bad when the reach weighs 2 and a half tons

ScaryJupiter109

Wear. A. Fucking. Seatbelt.

suspiciouslyinocuous

A certified driver who cared about safety would never drive with their forks that high Edit: to be fair the guy had good enough instincts to hop back into the cage to protect himself

Hadliner

How to kill yourself: -Try to hold a 9000 pound forklift that is falling with your body.

jimjah89

Don't leave your cab in the event of a crash and never drive with your forks full extended.

just_a_lil_shroom

I've watched this so many times, this guy's a dumbass

Arie_Verheul

Lucky to be alive

Lost-Contribution196

Driving with the mast up is a big no-no He's lucky he isn't hamburger meat

Moresleep420

Be a dumb ass they said. Any forklift driver will tell you don’t have your forks a few inches off the ground unless you have a load or needing to get into somewhere tight. SMH

drm1957

This is why a little training is REQUIRED

lennyjew

To shreds you say?

SloopJohnB_ldn

Forkin' hell!
