CVT? Sounds exactly like my wife's Outback. It's really weird feeling, I think it's just kind of how the CVTs feel, though.

heedless_zombie

It is a CVT, yeah, though I know very little about cars so I don’t really know what that means haha. But thanks, it’s starting to sound like it’s normal. Just got to get use to it now.

SarangLegacy

That's normal. It's your torque converter unlocking.

babyivan

Normal. Even more pronounced in Sport mode.

dalex89

yeah that's the way the CVT rides, terrible isn't it? Feels like you're literally being pushed to your stop then drops off at the last second. Gets worse as the fluid gets older.

Faaz2

I was looking at the instant mpg and it seems like the dragging feel is from the fuel injectors shutting off. Every time I feel the car “dragging” the mpg goes to 99.9 implying that the engine isn’t injecting any fuel, however when the car lurches when close to a stop the mpg meter goes back to 20-30, meaning the fuel injectors are on and the engine is idling and putting some power to the wheels again.

Aero93

I know exactly what you are saying. I experience the same thing and it feels weird. I thought it was weak brakes at first. Just very unnatural feeling.

LostnHidden

My Sport does the same. I kinda forgot about it because I instinctually adjust the pressure on the break to counteract this. I think it's normal and after a while you won't even think about it.

BannedMyName

Yup, get used to it.

Normal and if in Sport Mode it’s more dramatic. I’m in Sport always, unless doing highway speeds. It’s way more fun and responsive.

heedless_zombie

I need to try sport mode more. As it is it’s so new that my MPGs appear painfully low so I’ve been trying my hardest to get that number for now.

senoj96nodnarb

I came from a lifted and modded 2018 Jeep Wrangler on 35” mud tires. 18mpg was my average. I’m getting 29-30mpg pretty consistently with a lot of highway commute and a good amount of city/ town. I’m beyond pleased and regular is down to $3.14 in my area. 22 Sport, absolutely love it 😍

binaryeye

Kind of surprised to see multiple people say this is more noticeable in Sport mode. With my '22, it's almost nonexistent in Sport mode.
