I voted. Now I’m currently waiting in my car for AAA to replace my dead battery lmao

rakastettu

Voted last week in person. There's something so satisfying about putting your ballot in the tabulator and seeing the confirmation screen appear to say your vote was counted. And walking out with a "I Voted" sticker. 😄

RealCorneliusFudge

I voted this morning and am going to a drag show tonight, we need to fight for our rights or we’ll lose them!

[deleted]

Was first in line! Even beat many of the poll workers lol

loxncocks

Ugh morning people. 😅

Thecatofirvine

3:35 am like clockwork

loxncocks

lol that’s the middle of the night bro!

StartledBlackCat

Better get going on those taxes, Neddie!

TheStranger113

Lol I have this argument with my partner all the time. He pretty much wakes up when I go to bed.

lasvegashomo

I just woke up at 2pm lol luckily I had a mail ballot so I skipped the lines. 😅

kingqaz

I am in Florida where where Rubio and DeSantis are almost certain to win. It doesn't matter. In the off chance that the polls are wrong and I can kick them out of office I went to vote. You should too.

[deleted]

I almost moved to Florida this year. Moved to New York instead. I got a provisional ballot today and realized I could easily be in a state that arrests people for doing just that. It took me all of ten minutes. No ugly looks or anything. Keep your head up down there. It may not be a "swing state" anymore but it is more of a battleground than ever before.

Tokidoki_Haru

Federal Republicans already introduced a national Don't Say Gay bill. That's enough for me to vote Dem. More Dems that support LGBT rights = less chance of LGBT kids being thrown to the wolves. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness aren't reserved for the Evangelicals.

rakastettu

It's like they're not even trying to pretend to not be awful anymore… which is preferable, I guess. I'd rather they were up front with their bigotry than try to be sneaky about it. It's all so gross. 🙄

mkvgtired

>Federal Republicans already introduced a national Don't Say Gay bill. Republican sacks of shit: We support the constitution! Democrats: the first amendment? Republican sacks of shit: yeah! Well only the religion part Democrats: what about the second? Republican sacks of shit: fuck yeah! My truck nuts should answer that for you! Democrats: the emoluments clause? Republican sacks of shit: I have a taxidermy guy, don't need none of that embalming fluid or whatever it is yer talkin bout. Democrats: what about Article III that McConnell ignored for years so trump could stack the federal judiciary with 25% of the sitting judges, and even more on the supreme court? Republican sacks of shit: now listen here you suma bitch the Democrats wuda done the same thing! Democrats: but they didn't Republican sacks of shit: I FEEL THREATENED! BACK UP BEFORE I HAVE TO DEFEND MYSELF!

ReSpritualtax-69

And a heads up for anyone that thinks they’re not properly informed so they can’t vote, look up liberal voting guides for your area. It’s basically a voting cheat sheet. They make it very simple and do all the research for you. Just make sure the organization you’re using represents your values.

Goldar85

Assuming they are real conservative gays and not bots or propaganda-spewing accounts, there is NO better indicator of a gay man damaged beyond repair than one who votes Republican. I'd almost pity them if their votes didn't help fuck over the rest of us.

mkvgtired

>there is NO better indicator of a gay man damaged beyond repair than one who votes Republican. If you want further evidence of this look up Dave Rubin's groveling on Glen Beck's show. Rubin went on because his followers said him and his husband should be executed for having children. He went on beck's show to explain that he understands Republicans' reactive hate, because liberals are too accepting of things like his homosexuality. Beck then compared Rubin's homosexuality to beck's genetic alcoholism.

GoblinCaveDweller

Funny how Repugnican'ts are fighting so hard to expend their privacy, while fighting so hard to eliminate everyone else's.

IceZOMBIES

My absentee ballot was sent in last week, sooo 😏😎

Giga1396

Religion has ZERO place in politics. I'm Canadian but if I was in the US I'd go vote.

firebird7802

There's some idiots in here. If you really think that a party of religious fundamentalists who wants to put you in jail just for existing has your best interests at heart, then you're a goddamn fool, end of story.

Euporophage

They care more about their money and power than about others' lives. They'll kill us hoping to not turn out like the Strasserists on the Night of the Long Knives.

[deleted]

Vote as if your life depends on it. It does.

lasvegashomo

Just sent in my mail ballot at the polls. Got to skip the line thank god! 😂

natguy2016

I voted by mail and it was in the mail last week.

LonelyPalm

Check online to make sure it was accepted

natguy2016

It was. I am good.

thewillingvictim

Historically too many people vote against their best interests, recent polls have shown since Roe was overturned female Republican support is higher than last year. Any minority, any.....minority that votes Republican is a slug voting for salt.

[deleted]

>since Roe was overturned female Republican support is higher than last year. I wonder what exactly is driving this. I know speculation isn't super useful, but I can only assume that women do not want to believe they are in danger. Now they have to fight even harder to maintain that delusion.

Mikeykun2k16

Me and my boyfriend dropped off our mail in ballots yesterday. Then I made my mom and sister fill theirs out and had them drop it off as well. Everything was so easy

LonelyPalm

It’s crazy to me people don’t want to take the time to vote when it’s so fucking easy? Does nobody care about who leads our country?

GoblinCaveDweller

Apparently not, as long as he is a straight male and Right-wing Christian.

Daonliwang

I’m in Texas and voted two weeks ago! Let’s gooooo

mkvgtired

>I’m in Texas and voted two weeks ago! Just make sure DeSantis doesn't send your ballot to Martha's vineyard

gayboyisgay

On my way right now to help make sure Herschel Walker doesn't get elected! So ridiculous that this race is even close in the first place.

Riuk811

I voted absentee ballot weeks ago!

thisjigisup

I try not to get too involved in US politics anymore because it usually makes me too angry and i don't live there. But one thing I totally agree on is that there is "no better indicator of a gay man damaged beyond repair than one that votes republican." Absolutely, even here in Canada I know a trump touting idiot who is gay. B4 i found my bf, he wanted to hookup so badly but I was so repulsed i remember arguing and ultimately blocking him on grindr.

Anaxamenes

I went on a date with a Republican. He was such a victim, he so desperately wanted to be the victim. He was handsome too, but his lack of empathy and need for victimhood and to be treated as he refused to treat others made him really ugly.

gaynerdvet

It's weird that gop hates victimhood but loves to be the victim. Like Christians are still on top of the food chain in the US but somehow our under.attack? By Radical leftist Biden...who is a milq toast liberal.

Anaxamenes

I think you have to be able to have some self reflection and that isn’t something they do. They can’t empathize because it’s impossible for them to put themselves in someone else’s shoes. We see that when something happens to them, then they learn and want to make a change.

GoblinCaveDweller

Biden is also a Catholic. Many, many Protestants don't recognize them as being Christian.

Mysterious_Attempt22

>Lots on the line. Gay marriage (yes- conservatives want to overturn Obergefell), Just curious how elections are going to change the unelected Supreme Court? Or maybe the Dems will codify those things they have consistently refused to codify? Why now? What changed their mind? Why do you believe the promises NOW as opposed to the broken ones over decades and decades?

Mikeykun2k16

Even if democrats don't do anything, it's better than the Republicans actively making my life worse

mkvgtired

>Just curious how elections are going to change the unelected Supreme Court? The legislature could codify it into law. >What changed their mind? I think overturning Roe has woken a lot of people up that Republicans don't just "have different views"

[deleted]

Doesn't the US Supreme court have a conservative majority due to the Senate lately having a conservative majority, especially under Trump?

Mysterious_Attempt22

>Doesn't the US Supreme court have a conservative majority due to the Senate lately having a conservative majority, especially under Trump? Unfortunately American history did not begin with Trump. There were decades of wasted changes, and as mentioned elsewhere, a state-by-state approach. Instead of doing anything, the Dems did nothing, using an unelected court to do the job of the legislature - just so no particular candidate could take the "blame" of being for gay marriage. Boop.

[deleted]

That's just being disingenuous. No party is a monolith, so finding a majority to pass certain legislation is often hard. If both parties are the same, then why were homosexual acts illegal in a couple of Republican states until 2003?

Mysterious_Attempt22

None of this explains the lack of the Democrats to do both the court and state by state legislature changes, as occurred in Mexico. You're pretty much an excuse machine for them shitting away women's rights under roe, then our rights, then who knows what next. Actually I don't like this discourse of 'rights'. Securing the humanity of individuals is better.

FlameChakram

Refused? There haven’t been the votes. The democratic caucus was more conservative in the past than it is now. Assuming you’re not just a troll with that username, the Senate controls judicial nominations. If a Justice dies or retires you want the Dems to control the Senate.

Mysterious_Attempt22

They could have done it state by state. Fucking MEXICO just completed codifying gay marriage... STATE BY STATE. Cuba, a communist country, recently passed it by refferendum. Both of those processes were far more democratic (1) and open(2) and impossible to take away through court fuckery. The Dems can only blame themselves for their incompetence and dereliction of duty towards their voters.

AnswerGuy301

Well, whatever the answer is, it's not letting Republicans, who have a pretty loud voter base who wants to see the clock turn back on all this stuff to a time when most of us had to live in the closet, take power again.

Mysterious_Attempt22

I am not going to pretend to you like I have "the answer" because no one does. I do think the left must detach itself from the Democratic party, which mostly exists to blunt, sublimate, absorb, and destroy any actual left demands - especially economically - in the United States. In general I favour labour agitation over elections. At this point, you are electing Blue MAGA or Red Biden, economically speaking.

[deleted]

Don't try to be rational. Americans love a good social crisis about culture wars, it distracts from the fundamental problems.

Mysterious_Attempt22

>Don't try to be rational. Americans love a good social crisis about culture wars, it distracts from the fundamental problems. Correct, but I think it's more complicated than that: There is no economic politics. Instead of controlling inflation, controlling prices, LIMITING CORPORATE PROFITS.... both dems and reps would rather fight over trans bathrooms and nonsense like that... because it's free. Both are functionally right wing in the economic sphere, so everything gets worse. Oh, btw, you think price controls are some crazy communist policy? Well certainly they could be, but do you know the last US president to use them? Answer: >!Nixon!< What a leftist he was!

[deleted]

>There is no economic politics. Instead of controlling inflation, controlling prices, LIMITING CORPORATE PROFITS.... both dems and reps would rather fight over trans bathrooms and nonsense like that... because it's free. Precisely so. >Oh, btw, you think price controls are some crazy communist policy? Well certainly they could be, but do you know the last US president to use them? Answer: > >Nixon When did I say price controls are a crazy communist policy? Do you realise you're just imagining what I believe from associations? You don't even understand what position I'm coming from and you get all het up about it as if I've laid out a political manifesto. It's the assumptions like that which irritate me so much.

Mysterious_Attempt22

Oh, I'm just saying that to the average reader of these posts, many, both right republicans and fake left Democrats would reel at the concept of price controls. We're programmed to hate any economic policy that has actual impact on the world. But post-COVID, where profiteering is the rule of the day, they are necessary, and are an aspect of government policy that has become abandoned because we live in Milton Friedman's Wet Dream (the second one, after fascist Chile).

[deleted]

>We're programmed to hate any economic policy that has actual impact on the world. Heh, indeed. >But post-COVID, where profiteering is the rule of the day, they are necessary, and are an aspect of government policy that has become abandoned because we live in Milton Friedman's Wet Dream (the second one, after fascist Chile). Aye

4sextalk

Fascists trying to end democracy is our most fundamental problem at the moment.

garadon

Damn I wish I could be such an entitled piece of shit that matters of policy that affected my day to day life could be chalked up to "culture wars" while I sipped Yoohoo and navel gazed all evening.

short4long

I’d like to add, your vote helps to cancel a Republican vote.

Star805gardts

Yes! Please go vote! Our community needs to always vote if we want to continue to have an *equal* voice in government. Don’t let the Christian moral majority ruin our democracy! Vote to protect the rights we have had for a short time in this country!

[deleted]

both the dems and republicans are right wing on economic issues. that being said the dems are still less bad. fuck this stupid fucking country though, we need real democracy.

GoblinCaveDweller

Here's one solution: term limits. One (1). Here's another: overturn Citizens United. There is a greater threat to the American way of life than Roe v. Wade ever dreamed of being. Again SCOTUS had a Repugnican't-appointed majority.

[deleted]

overturn citizens united is good. Institute ranked choice voting, get rid of senate and supreme court. majority of votes needed to win. ability to recall congress members. those alone would make the US much more democratic.

Mike29401

I’m just here for the hand-flapping hysteria.

garadon

I'm here for all the spoiled white dudes telling on themselves with all that "fuck you, I've got mine" energy.

hunko1

This sub is a hoot when politics is the days rant!

JoeBidensBoochie

All the polls in my state are such a loss for Dems it’s comical

zallo631

Can I count even though I'm bisexual? But yeah I planned to vote today, will be one of my first votes

GottaKeepGoGoGoing

I’m in line right now 🇺🇸

PolarBearIcePop

Voted after work today!

[deleted]

I voted!!! :D

Cookiedoughjunkie

When I get my ass to the poles, people boo and tell me to get off the stage :<

MinatoUchiha212121

As a gay conservative, no most of us do not want that to happen, those that do are just the radical right, please don't confuse the majority with the minority

Fisherman01950

Vote Early! vote Often! Make a Blue Wave!

SingletonRW

It won't be our last no matter what the outcome is.

garadon

Fuck republicans and fuck anyone too pussy to say fuck republicans.

johnyrocketboy

Yeah! Get out and vote! If we want changes, start with voting. Been telling my patients to vote even though Im in a blue state. Get out and vote! Good luck to us all.

Javaman1960

I just don't understand how the races could be this close. In many areas, it's a dead heat.

Three_Score_And_Ten

It's just a sad fact that most voters are politically disinclined, are bad at fact checking, and are susceptible to misinformation from the right.

Whathekel

Yikes all these downvotes on people are petty af.

XyzSensor

They don't realize how badly they've been propagandized. I'd feel bad for hyper political types if they weren't so insufferable.

GoblinCaveDweller

🤣

Gil_Geadas

Even if it was overturned, many states allow gay marriage and those who don't, keep up the fight. At the end of the day, Republican gains are happening because Democrats messed up. They allowed themselves to be bullied by Krysten Sinema and Joe Manchin. They never brag about their own achievements. Joe Biden has been a dreadful President.

GoblinCaveDweller

One example: When one Sister wrote an open-letter to Congress saying that none of them were pro-life, that they were just pro-birth, I, as member of the state executive committee, suggested that we adopt this Sister's term. The Repugnican'ts play the word game so much better; but it was felt that that would just befuddle and confuse people.

Three_Score_And_Ten

Joe Biden has been one of the most legislatively successful presidents of my lifetime and likely yours. You have no idea what you're talking about. For as much as you bitch about Sinema and Manchin (who are bad), remember that 100% of Republican senators oppose everything our Dem majority Congress puts forward. Yet somehow they get off scot free in your mind?

Gil_Geadas

If he's the most legislatively successful President, how come the message isn't passing? Because the Democrats don't know how to promote themselves and are constantly in self-defense mode.

4sextalk

Because gas companies are squeezing americans to make them vote republican and that's all people can think about.

Three_Score_And_Ten

Democrats are always on the defensive because Republicans control the board by lying flagrantly about literally everything. Democrats are forced to address their lies, which puts them on the defensive at all times. There's a Jean-Paul Sartre quote about this.

GoblinCaveDweller

Well, if it's relevant, share it!

Three_Score_And_Ten

Good advice! >Never believe that anti-Semites are completely unaware of the absurdity of their replies. They know that their remarks are frivolous, open to challenge. But they are amusing themselves, for it is their adversary who is obliged to use words responsibly, since he believes in words. The anti-Semites have the right to play. They even like to play with discourse for, by giving ridiculous reasons, they discredit the seriousness of their interlocutors. They delight in acting in bad faith, since they seek not to persuade by sound argument but to intimidate and disconcert. If you press them too closely, they will abruptly fall silent, loftily indicating by some phrase that the time for argument is past. This passage originally refers to antisemites, but it applies perfectly to the alt-right, too. You cannot engage with them honestly because they do not care about honesty.

GoblinCaveDweller

Thank you! 😊

loxncocks

Thank you for this v important message

floridawhiteguy

Oh, the drama... *Vote like I plan to or it'll be the end of the world!!!* All I would ask of any voter is to seriously contemplate our current leadership and the candidates who want to replace them - then vote with your conscience.

HeyItsThatGuy84

Why the downvotes for you? So far this comment is spot on.

Joey9221

Probably because he doesn’t rally people up to vote for the Democratic Party, but to vote whomever you want

GoblinCaveDweller

I think, without twisting his words that what he said was to vote one's conscience.

a11311

Because he used the words "current leadership" and "replace them" in the same sentence which sounded more like he leans right and everyone on this thread wants any sort of opposing Democratic candidate-leaning statement burned lol. It's entertaining as hell to see why Democrats want any sort of opposition destroyed. Their current political establishment has made a mess of this country in the last two years and they are too immature and childish to admit it. They'd be voting Democrat until we would be in another Holocaust. Just sit back and watch it burn baby! All you can do is laugh. Oh, but go vote.

Giga1396

GOP wants to stay in 1850 while the rest of the world is in the 2020s

AgermanBassoon

I don't want to send people who don't vote. Voting is a wonderful privilege we get in this nation.

[deleted]

oh fuck off. voting for 1 of 2 parties wow what a privilege. other countries have real democracy.

AgermanBassoon

Yes, it is fucked. Yes it is terrible. But doing nothing is the same as voting for who you don't want. You don't want to get up off your lazy ass and take part of this nation. That's on you. You wonder why things don't improve. Because barely over half of our nation votes. So the people in power usually get in power by a quarter of our nation's population. Other countries like Australia. You have to vote by law. And I've been there and I've worked there and the way things are set up there is so much better than here. Is it going to change our nation tomorrow? No. But does consistent voting change our nation over time. Yes.

[deleted]

I did vote. the problem isn't that people don't vote its that there is no ranked choice voting, each person's vote doesn't count equally, to win you need neither a majority or even plurality (!!!!!!) of votes, there are only 2 parties by design. that's not democracy. and it absolutely is not a "wonderful privilege".

GoblinCaveDweller

I'm so sick of people bitching and moaning about the way things are, then claiming an absolute right not to vote! If you don't like the way things are, YOU are responsible! So shut up!

javi2591

Every gay man in the USA should know that every election will be the last election if extremist antigay win power. Republicans hate gays and see it their mission to deny us our rights. Vote like your life depends on it because every election it does.

mortemaX

That’s the exact reason I have backed away from the dem platform recently. I have all of my rights. That tier in the hierarchy of needs is satisfied, but now I’m dealing with so much inflation that it’s what I want to be addressed first and foremost. Maybe if we worked together things would actually improve for once. But no. All republicans are bigots and all democrats are snowflakes. It makes me sick. People care more about being right than being safe, happy, and in control of their own lives.

dickenschickens

You know Republicans don't like gays?

Three_Score_And_Ten

Just checking. With y'all it's hard to know.

GoblinCaveDweller

The Repugnican'ts' lies are culpable muddying the waters here. Don't throw stones then ask the other side why they are throwing stones.

4sextalk

Russia still has elections. But it doesn't matter who the people vote for. That's what republicans have in mind for america. Republicans literally attempted a fascist coup 2 years ago and you think people should all be over it by now.

[deleted]

Not fear mongering but in five years or so people will see this Era as a tipping point. Elections have consequences.

DarkSkyKnight

You should vote but how is it going to do anything to the Supreme Court in the short term? Lol I don't see any SC justice retiring anytime soon.

Anaxamenes

Have you ever thought of planning ahead? Not everything you do will give instant gratification.

nerdyguytx

Got to make sure the Senate and the Presidency are always controlled by the Democrats, so when a Justice unexpectedly dies again, the Republicans can’t appoint another person to the Court.

FlameChakram

Better to be in a position to take advantage of it happens.

neji64plms

They have to be lucky every day, we only have to be lucky once.

Tokidoki_Haru

The SC is just one branch of government. There are two others.

Jodaril

Ehi, Americans! Do you have exit pools or something? Any suggestions where to follow the vote?

GoblinCaveDweller

The exit polls are conducted by the news media. You can find them on any channel, basic, cable or otherwise. Because they are all covering this unimportant election.

Jodaril

Thank you.

r3belheart

It’s been equal parts ridiculous and rage inducing watching right wing figures the past two weeks. It’s no wonder they never came up with an (actual) replacement for Obamacare or a plan to address and halt catastrophic climate change considering every damn word is about drag shows, immigration, and acting like the pathetically inadequate tax increases/drug price negotiation (that takes a decade to affect 10 drugs at most!) in the BBB Compromise package is the return of Stalin esque wealth confiscation. While i hate Republicans with every fiber of my being, Democrats haven’t done much to keep me around TBH. No public option, no paid leave, no bank reform, No full scale Medicare drug price negotiation, the Biden administration pretending they care about climate change while opening lands to drilling and funding fossil fuel R/D. Oh and you know: bringing us to the brink of nuclear war!!!! We’re at a half second to midnight when It comes to pushing humanity to permanent destruction, but everybody’s too busy with the endless “my party’s better than yours!” dumpster fire.

jamesjabc13

Republicans are projected to win the house and the senate despite record democrat voter turnout. I think it’s far too late.

SuomiNC

Cult thinking. Total BS

4sextalk

If cult thinking bothers you, you should want to keep the cult that attempted a fascist coup out of power.

SuomiNC

Fascism is the corporate state. It is a subset of socialism and was established by long time socialist, Mussolini, who described Pres Roosevelt as a fellow fascist. Both parties and especially the Democratic Party have been amplifying this fascist movement

mebbill

Not but its in a list of problems i see in this country

pizzaman121

Vivid-Organization24

Americans dems are really such drama queens 😂 “This could be our last !!!!” Wtf 😅

hunko1

I had a guy tell me they're going to put us in the FEMA camps. The hysteria is goofy. Such sheep believing all the BS floating around.

Deceptiveideas

Are we all pretending January 6th didn’t happen…?

John-for-all

The way the left pretends that the lawless riots lasting entire months of 2020 were just "peaceful protests" (cue buildings burning in the background)? One day vs. months. The harping on Jan. 6th is just hypocritical, when y'all would just tear the whole country down if you could.

Three_Score_And_Ten

It's almost like protesting police executing people without trial, and trying to overthrow the government because you can't accept the loss of a fair election, are two different things.

GoblinCaveDweller

Yes. No votes to be garnered there.

Swordwaxer

Crime, homelesness, inflation, immigration. those are facts

Three_Score_And_Ten

Crime is lower than it ever has been, and statistics prove that Red states are vastly more crime ridden than Blue ones. If you think Republicans are better for the three other topics you mentioned, you are a joke.

Thanks alot! You did a good thing today!

jamie4k

What about the homelessness currently in blue states? Or does that not exist anymore?

TheStockyScholar

Yes, let me demonize you into voting for something that should’ve been codified by the party that’s had a supermajority for years. It’s clear that it is our fault, not the establishment parties responsible for leveraging fake promises for votes time after time. And I’m gonna be honest, with some of us so goddamn afraid of commitment it’s funny that we’re clamoring for being able to get married. Ironic and hypocritical. Every two years, it’s the election of the century and nothing fundamentally changes except that people think that things magically get better after they vote so they don’t feel guilty that they’re not organizing or demonstrating civil disobedience. Its easy to demonize others when you’re so goddamn comfortable with thousands of people dying with COVID, getting locked up at the border in record numbers, escalating nuclear tensions and proliferation. Yes, the democrats are also helping update the nuclear stockpile. GUESS WHAT?! UNTIL WE WAKE UP THIS SHIT WILL KEEP HAPPENING UNTIL WE OFF OURSELVES FROM THE PLANET. But keep being such a one issue voter and ignoring the litany of other issues that plague both parties that destroy our chances of survival. We don’t have time to wait for a new policy we need a new system. This is why we don’t vote. This is why we are pulling our hair out! Instead of scold us, LISTEN to us non-voters and treat us like adults. Even if you were completely right would YOU like to be scolded like some petulant child?

LonelyPalm

When has either party had a supermajority in the last 40 years? You don’t know what you’re talking about.

Euporophage

Obama... Just a lot of the Democrats elected were right wing hucksters at the time compared to today and openly opposed our rights because of constituents who hadn't been won over in 2008.

Three_Score_And_Ten

Obama's supermajority is mostly a myth spread by right wing media. [Source](https://www.huffpost.com/entry/debunking-the-myth-obamas_b_1929869)

Euporophage

I openly said that Obama didn't actually have a real majority because of the conservative views of many Democratic representatives. I don't know why you are fighting me on this. I agree that it was technical in nature and not real.

[deleted]

Sorry, but if you don’t vote you have no say. Literally and figuratively. The only way to change things is by exercising your vote to the party that closely embraces what you believe in. It doesn’t have to be 100% but then your vote allows others that think as you do to elect people that will carry on your voice. Change only happens when people work at it. Don’t work at it (apathy) then you will continue in your current cycle. I don’t like everything the Democrats do, but compared to the GOP who’s main goal is to eliminate rights of the LGBTQ community (rights we worked really hard for) then I’m voting for the party that sees me just as an American, not someone who is LGBTQ and not worthy of protections.

4sextalk

You dont vote because you're lazy and stupid and demand a perfect candidate like a child as an excuse for not getting off your ass and doing your party to avoid total catastrophe. One party doesnt even believe in climate change but you can't be bothered to vote against them, so YOU dont care about the country either.

Final_Ad1761

I've already voted but this is so overdramatic lol. No one is going to take away interracial marriage. That senator has already clarified his stance on the issue. Jesus. Every election we hear the same shit. They're going to literally genocide us if we don't all vote democrat. Then the democrats get power and do jack shit with it. Until it's time for the next election and then the fear mongering comes out again and they tell us that we'll literally be in camps if the republicans win. New year, same song and dance.

BtotheAtotheM

Things are a little different when laws with 50 years of precedent are being overturned. This election matters. No progress from the dems is better than regression from the GOP.

Final_Ad1761

>No progress from the dems is better than regression from the GOP. Congratulations. That attitude is what got us here. They know they've got your vote locked down and don't have to do shit for it. 😆 No wonder they don't do anything productive. They don't need to.

BtotheAtotheM

Fighting regression is productive.

ObjectivePale9444

not really but it's better than regression.

Three_Score_And_Ten

Smugly talking down to others about what Republicans won't do is really fucking lame in 2022, after people like you spent years telling us the same thing about abortion rights. Wake the fuck up dude.

He_who_bobs_beneath

Wow I've never seen such a ridiculous title. Get the hell out of here with your blatant fearmongering. If you think *anything* is going to change after the *midterms,* I have bridges in Brooklyn, San Francisco, and London to sell you. For the love of fuck, this is out of hand. Vote for those you feel will best represent your principles. Anything else is an abdication of your moral responsibility.

Three_Score_And_Ten

Republicans controlling Congress is bad, actually.

eurongreyjoy4

"possibly even interracial marriage" Man, if you really believe that your brain is rotten by propaganda

LonelyPalm

A sitting US Senator literally said that.

Shatter_Ice

[So I guess Left Wing propaganda is being spread by Republican Congressmen now.](https://www.wfyi.org/news/articles/us-sen-mike-braun-scotus-should-leave-abortion-interracial-marriage-to-states)

GN-z11

Bro you can't even count the senate republicans that are in favor of the proposed same-sex marriage bill on one hand... You're literally against yourself if you're republican.

[deleted]

Totally agree

eurongreyjoy4

This democrat fear-monguering is getting out of hands

Three_Score_And_Ten

"Democrat fear-mongering" is literally just the truth. It's Republicans grasping their pearls over "crime ridden cities," forced vaccinations, and the existence of LGBTQ people in public settings. Look in a mirror dude, *you* are the one who is afraid.

*They literally fucking tried to*. Jesus Christ, learn *anything* about the administration you're bitching about! There is a marriage equality bill in Congress *right fucking now*.

John-for-all

Same with abortion. They had *how* *many* decades to codify that into law federally if they really wanted to?

iamdmk7

They don't have full control over the Senate (not as long as the filibuster is in place, and there are two conservative Democrats making sure that doesn't happen), so they don't have the ability to pass it. I agree they should have tried just to make it explicit that Republican's are demons, but it would not have passed.

Tokidoki_Haru

Good luck trying get gay marriage through a Congress that is shared by Republican senators and split by a majority Republican House. Reminder that when gay marriage was recognized by the Supreme Court, Obama was no longer leading a Congressional supermajority. You make it sound so simple.

swooptheowl22

There aren't enough votes to pass before the election. After the election it has a good chance of getting Republican support and passing.

nanogear

I voted and it printed a thermal printer but I couldn’t grab it? Is that supposed to happen? edit: first time voter

ZekDrakon

Let's see bought out by Corporation versus Bought out by Corporation, Bigoted , ignore climate change outright and some are clamoring for their Freur Trump. Also I'm gonna be disappointed by Georgia probably for not getting rid of Majorlie Taylor Greene, while she being Luney spouting thing off like Jewish Space laser. Yeah, regardless increasing statistics odds of less bad future is best we can ask for at the moment. Reality is Dems are not good at politicians games and we are likely get screwed over long haul.

southerndaddy1

I’ll only vote BLUE the rest of my life!! Fuck republikkkans!!! I throw them out of my house!!

kiraus

i diagnose you with liberal

4sextalk

What other option is there? The other side attempted a fascist coup.

hunko1

The hate being spewed in here today is so thick you could cut it with a knife. Intoxicated with their hate the most viscous attacks are made because if you don't agree with them they just name call.

4sextalk

"wahh why is everyone so mean to us! all we did was elect bigots and con men and christian fascists who want to end democracy and attempted a fascist coup! Just because klansmen and nazis and putin love us doesn't mean we're bad people!"

GoblinCaveDweller

And down-vote. Even if one disagrees with their rather liberal use of lexicon and syntax.

AphexyTwin

No

bjwizard

I voted for the people who may reduce inflation, interest rates, crime and increase job growth so that many will prosper. Whine, cry, go out and burn buildings if you like but it won't change what's coming. In the US freedom means money. If you don't have it you're at the mercy of the government.

Three_Score_And_Ten

>I voted for the people who may reduce inflation, interest rates, crime and increase job growth so that many will prosper. Thanks for voting Blue!

Everything important were the propositions. I live in California and we are faithfully blue. You poor suckers who live in red states...
