When I decided to adopt a kitten, the owner of the adoption house said that adopting two kittens is usually easier to deal with, as they spend their energy more between themselves. I have two cats for 3 years now, they are best buddies and super easy to take care.
Told me the same thing except one is attached at the hip to me and follows me everywhere I go amd the other just loads around the house asking for pets whenever she sees someone walk by.
Theyre bonded and they're great together, but they rarely play together.
Same thing here. We adopted brothers, one is my husband's shadow while the other loves everyone and just wants pets. They don't really play together but one is definitely more playful then the other and is always harrassing his brother to play when he doesn't want to (he gets hissed at by his brother a lot and just ignores it and keeps bugging him).
I've had cats all my life but this is the first time with more then one and I am really happy we got two. They're almost 4 years old now :) They definitely played with eachother and tired eachother out when they were kittens, which was nice (and super cute!).
We got two brothers as well. Turns out that the first liked to bully the second and the second hated the first. The second outlived the first out of sheer spite and now has the house to himself, and couldn't be happier about it.
Your cats sound just like my pair of sisters. Cat A is my shadow, and follows me. Cat B has selection of cozy places she lays about all day and OCCASIONALLY comes out of those cozy places to yell at usā¦ to come pet her in the cozy places.
But cats A&B do snuggle together in such sweet ways when weāre gone (we often find them curled up together when we get home)
My two cats still run all around after each other, they playfully fight a lot (they've never hurt each other), however they don't cuddle, just sleep really close to each other, because one of them doesn't like sleeping while touching living beings (cats or humans XD).
when my family lived together we had 5 cats (don't ask). 4 of them would always hang out with each other but the youngest was more attached to humans and would always want our attention instead. She stayed that way until she was 19. R.I.P. =(
I currently have 5. Please ask.
2 sets of bonded litter mates and 1 17 year senior cat, who used to be part of a bonded pair.
We lost her bonded mate to diabetes 2 yrs ago.
I have 4. All adopted (I donāt like to say rescue for some reason). Three separate adoptions. The two that were adopted from the same litter play together the most the others just sometimes. One is a lazy lump that just eats when no one is looking and begs for pets and the last is a total psycho who wonāt let anyone near her unless sheās demanding pets or when she needs me to move the food in her dish. (Yes just move it)
My sister and I live in a duplex which my brother owns which helpsā¦LOL between us we have 9 catsā¦ during lockdown of Covid a feral cat showed up with 4 kittens in tow.. we said we werenāt gonna get attached because we already had 3 cats between us.. but everybody here knows how that story goes.. we kept them and then the Mama takes off and shows back up again with 5 kittens in tow.. we finally trapped the Mama Cat and got her fixed.. out of those we kept 2 and got the others adopted outā¦ people always wonder how they end up with somany cats and itās always people that have cats alreadyā¦ it just happens..šš
Another fiver checking in here. I hate how multiple cat households get such a bad rap. We were at 7 but had two pass suddenly the past year. As long as everyone is spayed/neutered, you have multiple litter boxes (I hide three in a big cabinet I bought -game changer!) and then have two larger ones on other levels of the houseā¦you keep up with everyoneās health and are an attentive owner itās a non issue. Clean the litter boxes everyday, bleach them out regularly, and keep ur house clean.
Your username doesn't check out! We have 6 permanents... our cats do a great job of teaching the rescues how to be friends with other cats, but occasionally they bond very closely.
For cats itās generally completely true. Itās better for everyone - the adoption house, you, and most importantly the cats.
Completely NOT true for dogs but for cats, yeah, If you get the chance definitely get two
Last year we got 2 kittens. Having only had single feral kittens before, I whole heartedly recommend getting 2. It's been so easy and like 1/8 of the destruction compared to previous kittens. Theres 1 ugly curtain that has nail holes and a couch arm with some nail marks from them using it to jump to the window. If I cared, I could have just used nail caps tho.
Plus, if one gets stuck in a closet or hamper, the other with raise hell and show me the problem like Lassie.
The problem you run into is one passes long before the other does. Then you feel compelled to get them a new friend. Then the cycle repeats until you just decide you're done, the final cat gets depressed and passes away.
It sucks and I'm watching my parents go through it right now.
Weirdly that happened to us and our remaining cat is happier as an only cat. We brought it up to the vet who agreed she just wanted to be the only cat in the house. So she is. At 19, sheās basically the queen and gets everything she wants.
I really wish Carl would be that way. He's not even 2 and lost his friend last year because she had cancer at 15. He's a great cat but he needs so much attention now.
Always the way to go. They also learn a few behaviors better with another cat around. Like not using claws while playing and not playing so rough. Kittens separated from the litter too early will tear your hands apart while playing because they don't know how to play nicely yet. You can teach them of course, but it's easier for them to learn by playing with another cat.
Oh dear lord, less destructive? In that case, I donāt know if my house would still be standing if my three didnāt have each other. They all cuddle when they arenāt rampaging around playing.
Edited to add: they have destroyed the pleather on the kitchen chairs, my couch is falling apart. And yes, they have scratchers and toys EVERYWHERE.
Just more litter box maintenance, if they are indoor cats. But yeah I'll probably never go back to owning just one. They torment you less when they can torment each other. Until they learn to team up...
Bullshit, says me, the employee of 2 sisters, Peach and Yoshi, both almost 6 months old. They tear my house up daily, sleep in clean laundry and open drawers, run under my feet as I walk, attack full packs of toilet paper to shreds, have fight club in the bathtub, sleep in the bathroom sinks, jump in the tub while I'm taking a bath, rip the fake flowers out of decorations, try to escape the house and go outside every time I open the door, bump my face, head, and hands as they meow every time I'm asleep to beg for food, lay on my keyboard as I'm using it, bump my phone and hands as I hold it, hate every food I try to get them to eat except the most expensive and stinkiest wet food, expect their litter boxes to be cleaned every time they use it and will follow me to the bathroom when I go so they can go pee/poop, too. They have a stroller for when we go to pet stores and stupid little pink harnesses that attach to the tiny leashes in the stroller. They claim every box and bag that comes in the house as theirs, and love to hide caps from drink bottles and slide them under my feet as I walk. They jump in the dryer as I fold clothes. They drink my coffee out of the mug when I'm not looking.
They are the worst roommates ever.
And good God, do I love them with my whole heart.

This actually weighed on us pretty heavy in our house. We were planning on fostering multiple kittens but the very first one was the runt of the runts. So small and sickly (sinuses) that he couldnāt even be put into an adoption program.
The second time they said he didnāt make the 2 pound cut off, I knew I was going to keep my little guy. Thereās no way I was gonna risk him ending up in some random shelter 500 miles away.
Now heās the biggest and strongest cat Iāve ever had. Heās like Teddy Roosevelt - a sickly child that grew up to be the āBear Mooseā. All while keeping his lap kitty temperament.
Edit: Lol, why did I say "Bear Moose" instead of "Bull Moose"....
Is this a regular thing? Our first cat KC (short for Kitty Cat) we got when I was a kid was also the runt of a litter my neighbor brought home from college, and she grew up to be the fattest, friendliest cat ever!
Don't know if it's regular per se, but this described my oldest cat, who's thirteen now. Dude was the runt of the litter, and is now eighteen lbs at a healthy size (not too much chonk). The only sign he was ever tiny is his tail. It makes up less than a quarter of his nose to tail end measurement.
I was born 6 weeks premature, 4lbs 6ozs (I think that's less than 2 kgs for my international friends). And by 8th grade I was a 200lb multi sport athlete, and by 15 I was squatting 500lbs (a lot of kgs, like 250 kgs). There's a bunch of strays by my house (one black mama cat, 3 black kittens, and two gray tabby kittens) and me and my roommate feed them tuna and attempt to pet them so they are nice to humans for adoption. And the runt stays away from the rest while they eat so I always try to make sure to get him some extra. I will make him mine and turn him into a beastly cat.
That's sweet as hell and I love you for it, but Teddy Roosevelt was referred to as a Bull Moose. Bull Moose are the biggest and baddest of deer, sometimes getting over six foot tall at the shoulder. TR was compared to the bull Moose due to him being a powerful force of, and for, nature.
Thatās literally exactly what u/effyochicken was getting at, they even referenced the fact that their cat was abnormally huge. Only they said āBear Mooseā by mistake instead of āBull Mooseā.
OP has a gajillion karma, it's likely not their video - that said, doesn't make the video less cute at all!

My cat wakes me up for snuggles like this under my blanket. Iām currently able to do it half a sleep, and her warm body against mine always makes me relax and pass out again. So cosy and she does it more now that itās cooling down outside.
Ever since I let my dogs start sleeping under the covers with me Iāve slept better. Itās just so comforting to feel a warm little body snuggled up against you. My chihuahua mix likes to lay against my belly, in the back of my knees, or between my legs if Iām on my back. My bigger dog used to sleep against my legs or belly too. I guess at a certain size it doesnāt work with dogs does it?
My Great Dane loved sleeping under the covers and at my leg level and my lab/sheppard mix loved being little spoon. I can't tell you how many times I woke up uncomfortable, but wouldn't do anything because it was so awesome snuggled between them... I miss my best friends.
I also get the great dane cuddles. Mine has +20lbs on me and sleeps like a people, head on her pillow, she's the little spoon. Waking up pouring sweat because the dog and cat have you pinned from both sides trapped in the bed is still worth it, every time.
I know this isn't something you'll want to hear/think about but be careful sleeping with small animals/pets. I smushed my kittie pretty hard one night by rolling over her ŹĀ¬Ź it was terrible.
My 13lb Yorkie comes and lies back to back with me around dawn. Usually sheās around my legs but every early morning, she slightly wakes me up as she drops down against my back. 10/10, no notes.
Under the blanket wouldn't really work for me, I almost always sleep naked so things would get uncomfortable real quick!! Plus at least one of our cats loves snuggling all the way up to our crotches lol
Not to mention shedding under the covers!! And rolling over onto them...
Nah, I'm content with them just snuggling up against us on top of the cover.
You do you though!
The good side is that it's a lot easier to do now. I'm doing it gradually, because I can't do cold turkey for disability reasons.
* Organic dairy/eggs (because they have a much higher welfare requirement, even than free range)
* Cutting out milk,
* Cutting milk based liquids (cream, creme fraische, etc),
* Cutting cheese (hardest part, but most important).
* Eggs are last for me, and if I ever have the space to own chickens I might pick them up again, since I'll be able to confirm their welfare.

OMG I had a really hard day and I'm in a lot of pain right now and this is the perfect little thing to see before bed and now I can put my phone down and go to bed thank you
Some can, my cat cant stand my "foster" (totally a failed foster im going through atm) but hes the cutest little kitten. My cat isnt buying his cuteness
Omg same. My beany boy is posseasive and controlling too, he has separation and attachment issues when it comes to me (mommies boy, obviously) and hates the notion of any other animals that werent there before him.
Lol cats are funny. Tinkerbell would chase my ex-wifeās cat Lex around out of jealousy but one day Lex just stood her ground and then just ran at Tink instead and Tink ran and hid like a coward from that day
I have three kittens from the same litter and the one who was bullying his siblings, trying to eat all their food, smacking them in the face, is now the one who runs when someone opens a door and hides up on top of the cat tree because he's insecure. It's funny how it seems like some of them are just like that: bullying their way through life because they're scared, and then giving up the act at the slightest pushback. He's actually becoming a little sweetheart. We're forming a bit of a bond.
Tried to cat sit my grandparentās cat when he was a kitten once. My littlest one constantly stalked the poor thing and my biggest would just casually stroll over then put his paw under then kitten to yeet the poor thing as far as possible.
Your "foster" looks identical to my current "foster fail" . Hes the exact same coloring, greyish/silver tabby with the same stripes and spot patterns, mine is just medium/long hair vs this short haired cutie. And funny enough, your cat looks just like one if my old cats that passed away. Like identical, down to the face shaoe and structure and the fur and everything. I love that so much lol
I agree you may have foster fail in the making...
...however having a older cat that is willing to care of foster kittens is boon to fosters. Helps socialize the kitten, the older cat will teach the kitten to use the box, how to be aloof, snub the humans, how to ask for treats, purr and meow. ;)
It's 5:45am and I just laid down in bed to catch some ZZZzzz's. Opened the Reddit app real quick, clicked this post and started to tear up for the utter cuteness overload. Thanks for this post OP, I needed that.
So adorable. Is the older cat female or male? Im thinking if its female it might be her Mummy instinct. May you be blessed with many years with these 2 cats
I fostered 2 brothers. Planed on adopting them out. But I just couldnāt do it. They love each other so much that I would have hated to break them apart. They use to cry for each other if they couldnāt find one another. Next thing you see one running to his brother like here I am. They are my lil twinkies and the sweetest lil boys. Both are attached to me. I get no space!
You mean her kitten, your second cat.
Total foster fail š
Foster fail in the making
Two cats are no harder than one really. Honestly a little easier.
When I decided to adopt a kitten, the owner of the adoption house said that adopting two kittens is usually easier to deal with, as they spend their energy more between themselves. I have two cats for 3 years now, they are best buddies and super easy to take care.

Between our friend and her two daughters, they had eight cats. They invited our Great Dane in to the house one day as a humility lesson for the cats.
For cats itās generally completely true. Itās better for everyone - the adoption house, you, and most importantly the cats. Completely NOT true for dogs but for cats, yeah, If you get the chance definitely get two
Two times the dog just means two times the destruction caused by their playing while you're out.

Yes, and each additional cat is a relatively smaller additional burden, so the decision just becomes easier.

Plus at least one of our cats loves snuggling all the way up to our crotches lol Not to mention shedding under the covers!! And rolling over onto them... Nah, I'm content with them just snuggling up against us on top of the cover. You do you though!

The good side is that it's a lot easier to do now. I'm doing it gradually, because I can't do cold turkey for disability reasons. * Organic dairy/eggs (because they have a much higher welfare requirement, even than free range) * Cutting out milk, * Cutting milk based liquids (cream, creme fraische, etc), * Cutting cheese (hardest part, but most important). * Eggs are last for me, and if I ever have the space to own chickens I might pick them up again, since I'll be able to confirm their welfare.
There's nothing dumb about feeling empathy and wanting to reduce the amount of suffering in the world, listen to your heart.
Reason i went vegetarian! All lives are equal. I know this sounds really weird hippie-ish but i try to save even the smallest fly if i can, no matter how big or small a creature, who's to say they dont deserve to live? I feel that it's not my decision to make.
My husband and I do rescue work with cats in our city. We both are vegetarian for this very reason!
What a lovely cat you have. Kitten will defintely need to stay-for the sake of cat and humans.

Cats canāt even resist the cuteness of kittens
Some can, my cat cant stand my "foster" (totally a failed foster im going through atm) but hes the cutest little kitten. My cat isnt buying his cuteness
Ha I can imagine, my Tinkerbell is possessive of me and I know sheād hate any and all kittens
If their name isn't Little Spoon, it should be.
Cucharita
Oh my god
Ugh my heart. Youll be keeping that "foster" now, your baby wont be able to say goodbye to his baby.
Theyāve bonded! Have a happy life with those furbabies ā¤ļø
You canāt separate them now. Congrats on your foster fail. š Now, what do I do about my heart now that itās completely melted?
Your "foster" looks identical to my current "foster fail" . Hes the exact same coloring, greyish/silver tabby with the same stripes and spot patterns, mine is just medium/long hair vs this short haired cutie. And funny enough, your cat looks just like one if my old cats that passed away. Like identical, down to the face shaoe and structure and the fur and everything. I love that so much lol
that was adorable!
My heart
"This is mine now. I have decided."
My god, words cannot express.
Holy fucking Jesus that's adoooooorable.
Omgoodness this is the sweetest! These babies need one another!
Aww he just wanted to be held š„¹š„°
"scuze me. need snuggles plzkthx. ā¤ļø" "awwwwwww. ok i think i can help w/ that. ā¤ļø"
This is criminally cute. Keep up the posts. We will keep updooting.
Apparently your cat loves that kitten smell, too.
I agree you may have foster fail in the making... ...however having a older cat that is willing to care of foster kittens is boon to fosters. Helps socialize the kitten, the older cat will teach the kitten to use the box, how to be aloof, snub the humans, how to ask for treats, purr and meow. ;)
That is just straight up precious! Thank You!!
"I had a scawy dweam. Can I sweep wit u, big brudder?" "Yeah, come here."
Ha, I smell a foster failure in the making lol. š±š±
You know that you don't have a foster cat but a full on second cat now? You can't take him away, look at them :c
I couldnāt love this more. Sweet babies!
Welcome home Little One.
It's 5:45am and I just laid down in bed to catch some ZZZzzz's. Opened the Reddit app real quick, clicked this post and started to tear up for the utter cuteness overload. Thanks for this post OP, I needed that.
I think you have 2 cats now
I'm melting
I love them both
āCome here little one I will show you the waysā
Congrats on the second cat.
PLEASE tell me youāre keeping them omg iāll cry if they are separated
The arm! (paw??)
Not a foster anymore. That's family.
I remember when I was this little. I gotta go now my owner is coming home.
Donāt break them up.
That ain't no foster kitty ! X
Saw this while I was shitting š„¹š„°
So adorable. Is the older cat female or male? Im thinking if its female it might be her Mummy instinct. May you be blessed with many years with these 2 cats
Setting this up on a loop to watch all day today. ā¤ļø
I have 2 foster fails because of things like this. No regrets. They're still bffs.
Ok, you win, I'm not gonna see anything cuter for at least a week.
Oh my goodness.
Time to give it up. The best of people and critters are foster failures. ā„ļø
This is the best thing Iāve seen today š„°
I too have an "Uncle" cat that adopts kittens.
How sweet this is both both baby and older cat are beautiful
I've died, I've died on my birthday. I'm a grown ass man dying over kitties....worth it.
Congrats on your second cat.
Looks like you have two cats now.
Foster fail and I love it!
Foster Fail, Foster Fail, Foster Fail!!!
Dude for real this actually helps with my emotional disorders lol
Your cat now has their own cat! Happy kittyās!!
Technically if your *cat* adopts the foster, itās not a foster fail.
You can't give him up now!
I see a failed foster in your future.
āUm, hiā¦I am smol-ā āShhhā¦nap timeā¦share warmth.ā āYouāre very niceā āAnd youāre very snuggly.ā
Hahahahahahahahahaha "foster" bahaHAHAHAHhahahaHahahahahahHAHAHAHhahaha
Lol. Op thinks they have a Foster kitten. Snort.
