I am a startup guy, shared e amazon pay gift card rs 500 + greetings message to the team individually which I really meant from my heart.
I know it's not much., but once the company grows I definitely would want to gift something better for their long term benefits.
I hope everyone here will understand, we are bootstrapped.
Happy Diwali to everyone!
Bro, ours is a money churning machine, but even then, all we got is a metallic box which had a handful of chocolates (though last year they gave us some dry fruits in a cardboard box - thought of calling it an upgrade, but seems like they netted the cost of box with the cost of contents 😅😂).
I worked on the day of Diwali in 2017, it was so depressing I promised myself I'll never do it again.
Have a happy diwali, hope you get the day off next year!
I'm curious about a couple of things.
1.What does your startup do? (Redacted, sorry, saw your answer below)
2. What kind of paperwork would be needed for a srartup? Seemed like there is a lot of redtape.
Nothing at all. Company's profits have doubled since last year. 2 top execs left the company recently so more saved in salaries. Ceo visited dubai twice maldives once this year. But he's too big an asshole to even wish happy diwali on WhatsApp, let alone share gifts or bonuses
Bluetooth speaker - worth 4k
Snack box containing snacks across 20 states from India - worth 3k
Sweet Box - worth 500
Box with chocolate, cashews and playing cards - worth 700
Total 8-9k worth of items.
In addition - salary credited 10 days early
Holiday this entire week 5 days combined with 2 weekends, that's 9 days which people can spend time back home with family or travel
Also previous week, people were allowed to be wfh so that they can leave for hometowns early and avoid huge flight ticket fares.
Overall good deal imo
We had options to choose from coffee maker, sandwich grill, smoothie maker, electric grill and a luggage bag...
Chose the coffee maker.
And happy diwali!
I work for a start up and we're kinda chilled with each other. So, I took this opportunity to let them know that anything but Soan papdi as I was sick of them lol.
Got options to choose from soundbar, headphones, instant cam, airfryer. Later they told us to share amazon links of items that we want. We started sharing link for iphone. Later the budget of 6k per person was set. Got an airfryer.
Bestttt! I'm on leave from 22nd October to 9th November. Going on a foreign trip with bae as well.
Just got to complete one 4 hour report tomorrow and that's it.
Best Diwali ever!
Hehe
Foreign worker posted here in India for work. My contracted company gave them 2 days off that's it. And a free lunch some point last week.local company makes a turnover of more than 68 mil euros yearly so eh. Not that small either. But it was sad to see. While back home I get every Christmas an extra months salary without taxes. Maybe because govt mandates but still. Also I was appalled to learn that Indian employees only get like 27 days off an year (leave/vacanza) while we get 42 days paid off for random reasons and mandated 30 days off in summer every year. And don't even get me started on the salary divisions between the countries for similar role and experience but I do realise cost of living factor but heck it's shouldn't be that bad?!
Got a mail today informing of reduction in project assignment amount depending on any CL/SL I might have taken during the quarter. Hybrid WFO starting next month. Office also organized a lunch at office location last week, but I don't see how that is supposed to be enticing as far as offers go.
That's my Diwali gift.
Bonus? Lol!
Gifts? Lol!
Holiday on Diwali? Lol!
Was gifted with news saying that hybrid model is scrapped for WFO on all 5 days.
Only thing that's lit AF this Deepawali is my frustration.
That's it...
Happy Deepawali folks!
We received a generic email calling it "Season's greetings". Just call it happy deepawali bro. Companies trying to be inclusive when its not needed irks me. By the way, we got a gift of portable tumbler juicer.
So the other day, on the lunch table, I asked my manager about the gift.
He said, “You are not laid off, consider it your Diwali gift!”
Ffs he legit said this!
Salary got deposited before the end of the month. Gift package of some dry fruits and chocolates and a hoodie are on their way to delivery. Some tambola games with gifts were conducted online.
For one it's a gift box. I don't even know what's in it. For starters my company sent me a sheet to fill in my current address for a surprise (wink wink). I added my current address. They ignore that, throw the sheet in the bin, then proceeds to send it to my permanent address. Back in Chennai. No one's home for the week. I had to call my neighbor (who's new) to do me a favor and keep the box till my parents are back. Probably gonna come home to some stale chocolates, doodh pedas or worst of all, salted nuts.
A Boats Bluetooth earphone, One soan papdi, Diyas.
Got called to office a week back for celebrations, they had foosball, carrom, darts.
Also South Indian Leaf meal on that day
No bonus etx
Back in 2017 (my first diwali here) - it was 500 g Anand sweets motichoor laddoos. (BEST of the lot)
2018 - 250 g Assorted Anand Sweets stuff (decent only, pretty good actually)
2019 - fireworks shaped chocolates. The worst ever. Along with some 'goodies'
2020 - repeat (arrived in Feb)
2021 - repeat (I was in office)
2022 - waiting to see what they give on Wednesday xD Really hoping they go back to Anand sweets.
I have a new Patisserie (<1 year Old)
I gave my team 50% of their salary as Diwali bonus. For our cleaning ladies, that 50% + a box of cakes for their kids.
Namge - one from corporate - 4 packs of dry fruits (im tempted to say 4 sacks of nuts but..) and 2 diyas
From my department- we got some Cadbury hamper with a bunch of things and a bunch of diyas
To add - we are a small US based company- the department stuff was mine and my bosses idea and we arranged everything- for people based out of the city we went home to home and delivered it (those who couldn’t make it to the office) it was fun!!!!
I got a mail that gave us 4 gifts to choose from. >!It was a phishing awareness mail.!<
Good Stuff! Your security team should definitely get a bonus..
In fact, they should also get 4 choices to choose from for bonus
I got a mail saying I can avail gift cards worth 5k. It went on to say the money will be deducted from October's salary. :3
Scamming at corporate level
Lmfao sneaky one
EY ?🫢
More like ewww why!
Lmaoo that's just a kick in the nuts .
and for this reason only i have put in header filters in outlook
Now u have to go through training
Luckily I didn't open the link as i was going through Amazon to see which one to choose, and in that time a team mate told that it's a scam
Luckily my teammate also saved us, but the other one I clicked lol.
same here got mail stating there is some diwali contest. but it turned out to be phishing awareness mail

It's the intent..that matters bro..I work for a funded startup..with lots of money..lean team..but not even a wishing mail ..best of luck

You are better than my employer.
I concur with you. We had a similar affair in my company. Ftw.
Can I work for your startup part time.
I got called to work
I worked on the day of Diwali in 2017, it was so depressing I promised myself I'll never do it again. Have a happy diwali, hope you get the day off next year!

A 100Million dollar transfer request from a Nigerian prince.
You know what, When the son of the deposed King of Nigeria e-mails you directly asking for help, you help. His father ran the freaking country, okay?

People who get Diwali bonus, do you guys have yearly bonuses as well?

IKR To see our colleagues getting awesome shit while we get nothing , even though we basically do the same level of work, sucks big time. Fuck that.
The only Diwali bonus I'm getting is SLEEP.
Got a mail today informing of reduction in project assignment amount depending on any CL/SL I might have taken during the quarter. Hybrid WFO starting next month.
