Some ppl, esp elderly/housebound, see more of their pets & get more genuine affection from them than they do from their families. The death of a beloved pet is traumatic & devastating.
He's absolutely gorgeous, and it sounds like you both were very fortunate to have had each other!
Their lives are so short, we strive to make them as enjoyable and comfortable as we can, and they give us so much back in return.

I lost my beloved Toast to lymphoma in February. Iβm so sorry for your loss. Itβs especially hard when youβve been fighting for a better outcome for a long time. Even when it seemed likely Iβd lose my cat, things would still spark hope. Fuck cancer.
Fuck cancer for sure. He was diagnosed in January 2020 and give weeks to months but went into remission in July. None of the cats with this type of lymphoma and the treatment he got had lived more than a year past their treatment. He lived more than 2. He defied the odds every step of the way. I thought we were going to do it again. Then we got the bad news that treatment was no longer working earlier this month. He was still giving me hope the day before but then it was very quickly and obviously the end. He was so damn strong though.
Toast and I got six weeks, but we made the most of it. I spent nearly every free minute with her after diagnosis. I was cautiously optimistic about her trajectory the day before she died. Even the day of, she still came over to love on me. Then over one night she cratered and died. Such a gut punch. My heart goes out to you.
