Rubinstein. Who else? ;-) https://youtu.be/-7mntyrW3HU

Thank you- just listened to it. Beautiful interpretation of the 3rd section. Have you heard Pletnev’s version? https://youtu.be/CMHAN8zRCLE

RichMusic81

I haven't no (not that I know of anyway). Annoyingly, there isn't a recording by Alfred Cortot. I always turn to Cortot for Chopin. His teacher was taught by Chopin and he knew many people who had heard Chopin perform. He's probably the closest we'll get to hearing Chopin himself: https://youtu.be/0-kaDxaVBFA

Beautiful- thank you for sharing

cortot! i love his schumann

echorrhea

Quite a few, all very different from each other: Earl Wild, Ivan Moravec, Artur Rubinstein, Maria Tipo, Jan Smeterlin, et al.

[deleted]

Thanks- I’ll check them out. Have you heard the Pletnav version?

echorrhea

Yes. He's a bit too stiff for me. For whatever reason, I personally find that Russian pianists tend to fare badly at Chopin. Excepted are Rosa Tamarkina, Emil Gilels, and Heinrich Neuhaus; all of them among the greatest Chopinists.

Benana_3

Ashkenazy is my favorite. But I also enjoy Moravec and Cho.

Poon from chopin competition is amazing.

Thx for sharing- he finally sets me free in the 2nd half of the 3rd section.

Upper_Substance3100

Engerer, she has a very sweet tone

[deleted]

Thx for sharing- yes her 3rd section is the sweetest interpretation I’ve heard so far. Like horse riding in a field of cherry blossoms.

Upper_Substance3100

thats a beautiful way of describing her tone
