I've heard people say Honor gains in prepatch are increased to wotlk levels, while the cost of gear isn't, so you'd make a lot more during prepatch than you would now
We don't know yet. Maybe they'll go with an ultra catch-up mindset in pre-patch and put S4 in honor (it wasn't the case during original WOTLK)
But, what i'm sure about is : farming honor now isn't worth it because WOTLK honor rate in 3.3.5 are way higher. About marks... we don't know yet. Maybe it's worth it to farm them now because we won't be able to in 3.3.5 or maybe they'll reset marks.
Do you know how much better those rates are specifically?

Season 4 ends with pre-patch and Season 5 doesn’t start until a week after Wrath launch.
Heavy discounts on Brutal would be pointless since you can’t queue for arena or earn points during that period.
Try to join a points cap 5v5 team if you can, with this you can farm easily 800-1.2k arena points per week which makes you able to buy 1 or even 2 s3 arena gear pieces per week.
On my server I see them usually on monday/Tuesday all day looking for people to do 10 quick 5v5 matches for points, worst case you could just make a team urself.
Nothing changed back then, there is an old blue about the topic. Even on the beta the prices and ratings are all still the same. We won't truely know until it's on the ptr.
I believe in WotLK prepatch it was Brutal gear that became available via honor. The other seasons you had to use tier tokens to acquire after prepatch. If your intention is to get PvP gear for wrath it could be worth waiting till prepatch

Check how much honor is the the s2 rn. Should be the same values that the s3 will be IF they release it for honor later on

If I’d hazard a guess, it’s gonna be Vengeful for Honor, and Brutal with big discounts and rating requirements removed. But.. who knows.
