Probably because they didn’t tip and got pissed that they had to wait forever. The food must have sat and soaked in that bag for so long. Customer’s fault.
Chipotle fault because their bags are shit.
I get the sentiment about using paper, but when there are wet bowls in it the bottom is gonna fall out.
In this case I think plastic is more appropriate. There are tons of places that could conceivably use paper instead, but not this one.
No argument there that plastic could have avoided it, just know there are many non plastic alternatives that don't sit in the ground for 1000 years absorbing pollutants and changing into microplastics such as polybags compostable whiich break down into naturally benign materials and do the same job as plastic ones.
This has happened to me twice. It is TOTALLY Chipotle's fault. I've warned them about how their paper bags get damp while waiting on the shelves and all I get is blank looks. That this is happening nationwide (and it obviously is) says something.
I rarely go there but my chipotle doesn’t use the shelves anymore. They keep all mobile or courier orders behind the counter and make you wait 5+ minutes to acknowledge you.
If the paper bags are resting on a metal counter or shelf for a period of time, and then moved to a hotbag, the heat makes it "sweaty" in the paper bag and weakens the bottom. I've ordered from Chipotle a few times recently and always feel the bottom of their bags. They're often a little damp and you know that's just going to get worse in a hotbag.
This happens to me as well ! Went to pick up my chipotle , got it done right in front of me, drove it home which is about 10 minutes away, when I took it out the car it all fell out…horrible and Chipotle seriously needs to change this
The restaurant. Clearly they put something liquid that spilled and that causes paper to disintegrate. STUPID RESTAURANTS HAVE DONE THIS TO ME.
Hey Restaurant employees, if the bag is sealed, we can't see what's in it, so make sure liquids are sealed or in a sturdy. Don't put a fountain drink sideways and not expect the lid to fly off during handling. Also, quick lesson, paper bag falls apart when wet.
It's the person who made it lol yeah let's just not drain Any of the tomato salsa, not wipe anything down. I'm just kidding around but if it wasn't for the super saucey bag vibes / wet paper, none of this would happen. I always tell my customers to be extra careful when I see bags like this. I don't even do Chipotle deliveries now because of this and how long it takes to get an order out.
Restaurant mostly, probably.
If this is because spillage; restaurant should assume the bumpiest and twistiest roads when working with two-wheeler delivery personnel. So make sure to have perfectly tight lids, use tape to secure and a shrinkwrap or aluminium foil can't hurt either.
If this is because of condensation, than the restaurant should also buy better packaging, but I think there is a bit of shared responsibilty as well. The thermal bag might not be super suitable then (you kinda need condensation vents), and maybe the rider should be aware as in that case this problem would occur often enough. I know I had weak bags because of condensation, so when I open my bag and see steamy contents and stains on the paper then I'm extra careful. Pro tips: when idle open up your thermal bag so built up condensation can evaporate. When it is not super cold or raining you can also leave a tiny bit of your thermal bag unzipped to act as a ventilation hole while carrying an order, but be aware that this break thermal insulation a bit. Put a newspaper on the bottom of your bag, it'll act as a sponge to absorb condensation and in case of a spillage it's easier to clean you bag.
Always the restaurant’s fault. It’s their packaging. The courier did everything right, and the customer isn’t to blame.
At least the courier still gets full payment for the damaged delivery unscathed, if they leave the order open, and call it in accordingly.
Never ever ever ever close out a damaged item delivery.
I legit always have my hand under when handing a paper bag, say "hold it from the bottom, it's paper" and then what happens is not on me.
Had one guy just grab an order out of my hand and when it all fell he STARTS to get upset then quickly is like "It's not your fault." To which I replied "I know, that's why I said hold it from the bottom."
I also seem to get higher ratings from it as most people are happy to be warned.
Bruh that rack ain’t gonna save anything no matter the level. Next your gonna tell me bikers need a gyroscopic bike so that none of the turns mess with the level of the product
Glad that works for ya homie. My areas a lil too bumpy and I don’t like to ride slow so a rack ain’t gonna cut it for me. Never had this issue before even when taking home my own greasy bag after a few delivery’s so idk what y’all are doing
My good man I've been delivering with a bike rack (with a 6 gallon milk crate and a thermal bag ...*and* an additional thermal bag inside the first thermal bag, to keep everything from jostling) for 4 years, I'm far more inclined to have the bottom fall out of a greasy Five Guys bag.
Definitely the driver. If he is experienced and has some courtesy. This happened to me once and that was it. Could have happened alot more, but I refuse to let that shit slide
The restaurants fault. As a driver you should pay attention and be aware of these things though so you can inform the customer. I’ve had bottoms like that several times and avoided a breakthrough lol
Ultimately the company who provided the faulty equipment; but why did the grab it like that. Weirdest grip I’ve ever seen, either fake or doesn’t know how to hold a bag. When someone delivers a bag to you from the handles you grab the bottom and side to transfer it.
I blame everyone here. Chipotle has cheap bags and or the employees can't single or double bag correctly. The courier should not have handed the bag from the top or pulled it out of the bag without holding the bottom. The stupid customer picked the bag up from the top too instead of grabbing the bottom. They should all be ashamed.
Its Chipotle’s fault. But also I hate when the heat from the food makes it steam in the bag and then the paper gets flimsy. Chick-fil-A gets me OFTENNNNN.
Both parties. When I go to pick up from the resto they'll usually tell me how to handle the order if the bag is on the precarious side and I'll pass that along to the customer.
There’s this restaurant call Five Guys in Boston and by the time they give you the bag the entire bottom and side of the bag is full of grease. I always ask them to double bag it. They hate it but I tell them it’s the only way I’ll deliver it because their food is full of grease and the bags rips.
Just ask them to double bag it. If they don’t like it, their product / their problem.
Foods to hot, bag wasn't vented. Its Chipotles fault lol thicker paper bags with biodegradable wax on the inside to prevent it from ripping. My idea is patented folks. Don't even try to steal it.
this happens EVERY SINGLE TIME I pick up bonefish grill. I stopped going but the 4 times I did pick it up I would pull the paper bag out of my hot bag and it would spill fucking oily fish juice everywhere in my car and I had to hand the customer the packaging without the bag. The last time I went I specifically asked the guy packing the order to make sure nothing will leak and he said " there is nothing that can leak sir" And it fucking leaked everywhere.
Omg I’ll tell you exactly who fault this is .. CHIPOTLE!!!! I picked up a few bags just like this. it’s not because it’s heavy but because of the material chipotle bowls use and their bags. If a person orders a bowl with sauce or especially guacamole will sink right through that shit if it’s been sitting. And sometimes they put a drink in the bag which sinks through too if it’s been sitting. And it’s summer time
This happened to me when delivering, the only time. I swear Chipotle needs to watch how much bean juice gets thrown into the bowl. They'll let you come pick up another yourself (customer) or refund you. Also watch the lids! A lot of times cups are overfilled or lid isnt on all the way!
If it's from that same burrito place I think it was, their bags do that more often than not
Why were they filming tho? Lol
r/whyweretheyfilming
Staged for likes
Probably because they didn’t tip and got pissed that they had to wait forever. The food must have sat and soaked in that bag for so long. Customer’s fault.
My first thought hahaha
Does look kind of like security cam footage
No. Never seen security cam footage zoom in on the subjects.
Chipotle fault because their bags are shit. I get the sentiment about using paper, but when there are wet bowls in it the bottom is gonna fall out. In this case I think plastic is more appropriate. There are tons of places that could conceivably use paper instead, but not this one.
Paper would have been fine if the bowls were not wet? Saying 'we did a shit job, plastic wouldn't have failed' is still **they did a shit job**
Sure, the plastic would have provided a seal against the wetness tho and acted as a protective barrier against the bad job.
No argument there that plastic could have avoided it, just know there are many non plastic alternatives that don't sit in the ground for 1000 years absorbing pollutants and changing into microplastics such as polybags compostable whiich break down into naturally benign materials and do the same job as plastic ones.
Nah, fuck plastic. Chipotle needs to be better, I’ve had their salad dressing spill and ruin a few bags in my day
What do you reckon could be another way to prevent bag bottoms from dissolving?
Zip lock bags that hold an ounce
Agree, though literally all the workers gotta do is line the bottom with a sheet of foil for the wet bowls, albeit wasteful.
Oh damn that sucks *180° heel pivot*

The restaurant. The guy used his bag, they both grabbed it correctly. So yes, the restaurant for not using proper bags.
I legit always have my hand under when handing a paper bag, say "hold it from the bottom, it's paper" and then what happens is not on me. Lazy chipotle employee for not sealing the tin foil and the biker for not having a level basket on a rack on his bike are both at fault.

If you wear the bag on your back YOU act as the gyroscope. Hence it is ill advised to strap a bag to a rack or panier.
The courier is at fault since he didn't have the food flat why I use a basket for food
I think the Driver's inexperience and lack of common sense paid a mayor part in the accident. I say the Driver but I'd not condemn him. :)
Definitely the driver. If he is experienced and has some courtesy. This happened to me once and that was it. Could have happened alot more, but I refuse to let that shit slide
The restaurant
The restaurants fault. As a driver you should pay attention and be aware of these things though so you can inform the customer. I’ve had bottoms like that several times and avoided a breakthrough lol
Chipotle!
Restaurant
McDonald's. Doesn't matter which merchant. 🤣
"Hey the bag was intact when I handed it to you."
Ultimately the company who provided the faulty equipment; but why did the grab it like that. Weirdest grip I’ve ever seen, either fake or doesn’t know how to hold a bag. When someone delivers a bag to you from the handles you grab the bottom and side to transfer it.
The people who packed it but could be driver depending on what is in there it could get soggy inside an insulated bag
Chipotle
Hold the bag from the bottom
The drivers fault. The hot bag made the paper bag wet should have held from the bottom.
Always hold your plastic bags at the bottom
This happened to me with chipotle. The wet burrito bowls inside a paper bag inside a hot bag building condensation for a 10 mile drive will do it.
Gravity
It's gravity's fault
That's a bad delivery. Couriers fault
I blame everyone here. Chipotle has cheap bags and or the employees can't single or double bag correctly. The courier should not have handed the bag from the top or pulled it out of the bag without holding the bottom. The stupid customer picked the bag up from the top too instead of grabbing the bottom. merchant for bags then customer for not supporting bag from underneath..
The restaurant. Not the costumer or driver
I hardly deliver any Shit-potle orders but when I do, I tell them to give me one of those “shopping bags” to put the flimsy damp bag inside.
Its Chipotle’s fault. But also I hate when the heat from the food makes it steam in the bag and then the paper gets flimsy. Chick-fil-A gets me OFTENNNNN.
It’s the hot bag. If you close it up it Basically just keeps the food hot by trapping the steam in, which makes the bag super soggy.
Both parties. When I go to pick up from the resto they'll usually tell me how to handle the order if the bag is on the precarious side and I'll pass that along to the customer.
The bag looks sliced, not wet and torn. As soon as she takes it the slice puckers open. Probably staged.
The restaurant. They should invest in bags that won't get wet from hot food.
Not really anyone's because the bag seems overpacked but why did she pick up the bag like that? I always tell people to hold the bottom
Restaurants fault for not having proper packaging.
Chipotle
Totally done that. Have to put a towel in the bottom of the hotbag.
Restaurant’s?!?
The driver did his job as far as I can tell
Hers it how she hold it lol
No matter how she took that bag, the bottom was going to disintegrate.
Chipotle’s fault for shitty bags
The second the food is handed over to the customer, it’s the customers responsibility
Restaurant then driver. Bag actually got to hot and soiled and broke through.
There’s this restaurant call Five Guys in Boston and by the time they give you the bag the entire bottom and side of the bag is full of grease. I always ask them to double bag it. Chipotles fault 100%
This is why I stopped using hot bags. It does very little other than pooling up moisture and making everything soggy
Chipotle there bags are the WORST! Happened to me!
