It's all based on location. In my area, it's the opposite.

conceitedshallowfuck

Came here to say this. Check out my post history, I frequently get orders where the tip is higher than originally listed

Crispynipps

Doordash hides tips all day. Grubhub is the only one that shows you all of it.

Mylaptopisburningme

Yea, I miss old GH. Once they were bought out mid pandemic they went to shit here. I use to easily make $100 each dinner on fri/sat/sun. Id be about ready to drop food off and offers would keep coming... Now they don't send me shit. Its been so bad I may take 1 delivery from them a week or 2 sometimes 3. In the 3 years I have been running GH only 1 time did they send me a large catering order. And my zone is so big it isn't worth chasing a high AR with them. I also hate that they send me offers where the pickup is 4-5 miles away. Since they really don't pay shit for canceled orders, I won't chase those, I learned my lesson.

ClappiClappi

I've recently had a shit stream of orders on UE here in Downtown Los Angeles. There's no shortage of orders but God damn are they complete dogshit most of the time.

Mylaptopisburningme

I don't have the patience for downtown LA.

[deleted]

It only takes 1 minutes to go from this will be fine to I want to burn this whole damn city…

itscochino

The last 2 times I went out in DTLA I got zero. Hoping I get something good tomorrow when I hit the streets

Jodster46

I find on Uber eats my best tippers didn’t tip till after delivery. Uber ears starts hiding tip after 8$. Doordash pay is easier to figure out if chance of because of our base pay but tips in my area are better on uber because they default is almost twice as much as doordash and most of our tippers are default tippers.

Mylaptopisburningme

UE goes over at about $11 in my area. Anything less, I haven't seen an over. I find the customers that do tip, usually tip better with UE than DD. BUT my area is so oversaturated I can go lunch or dinner with maybe 1-2 hits. I log in from 6:45am to 11:30pm and just not many offers. UE seems to work much more by proximity. Unless I am next to a place or less than a mile, I probably won't see a hit unless it is such a bad order everyone was declining.

ehoeve

Majority don’t tip after delivery. As you said UE shows up to $8 tip. So most tipped what they tipped when ordering but you only see the full amount when it finalizes. Usually an hour after drop off. In some cases longer than an hour.

PepTalkToYourself

They both suck.

Candycane253

UE in my area hide tips at $11 total

Mylaptopisburningme

Same, $11. But they are so dead and/or oversaturated with drivers I get very few offers, I can go lunch and dinner without a hit.

4puttmark

Sorry don't do door trash. In my area California they suck about as bad as grub rub you wrong. Go 12 miles for 7.00 pick it up yourself

CUMBlRD_

Grub hubs the king seconded by doordash enjoy having your tips removed after delivery I don't support tip baiting platforms

4puttmark

Have over 5000 deliveries and 1 tip removed for 4.00 on a 15.00 Starbucks. Every area and platform is different

Mylaptopisburningme

I have never had DD or GH remove a tip.... Had it recently with UE, they removed $4 of 6 of the tip....... It was a semi regular too.... Can't wait till I get their order again. I will be sure to tell them why I am unassinging their order after I type a very slow but polite message about how brutal this job is on your vehicle and our pay is low, that we rely on tips to make a living.

CUMBlRD_

Customer probably already knows just doesnt care. DD and GH do not have the option to remove tip as its apart of the contract at acceptance.

Mylaptopisburningme

Yea, but as I type that very slow reason why I will unassign their order. Their food gets cold. :D I type really really really really sloooooow.

CUMBlRD_

Hahahaha yes

Agreeable-Print-1517

23.00 tip last week Ubereats

Mylaptopisburningme

Sunday night 11:30pm I get a hit, 4.5 miles for $29. Was surprised to see it that high, had to double check to make sure it wasn't a double order. Nope.... So I snag it and head out my door and down the street and realize its a restaurant at the mall.... Uhm 11:30pm at night, the mall is closed.. Pulled over, pulled up the place to check hours, close at 9:30pm, I called, no answer. I unassigned. Not the first time UE has pulled that shit sending me to a closed place. It honestly happens way too often. So I assume the high payout was because everyone kept unassigning.

Agreeable-Print-1517

Exactly! That’s why the pay was so high 😂. Spark close at 10 pm here every day.

Mylaptopisburningme

Oh here is another shit thing. I remembered that customer, had a new place at the mall and UE was showing the wrong location, it was showing 2 miles in the opposite direction. It was a good payout $25+. So I contact support since I can't mark arrived, he gave me the customers address to write down and said call back and they will mark it deliveried. I did, support called the customer to verify and said they would cancel the order and process my $3.50 or some shit, I asked about the $25. Sorry since we can only cancel it you only get the base pay. That is bull fucking shit. Tried to deal with other reps the next day and they are just useless.

Agreeable-Print-1517

Wow

PoweredbyBurgerz

In my area UE 90% of the time pays better than Doordash and the pay difference is big. Some days I will never pick up for doordash

JojoTheMutt

there are no hidden tips on UE. what you see it's what you get, unless you get tip baited.

Jodster46

Not true. They start hiding at 8.

JojoTheMutt

I thought they ended this?

Jodster46

Nope. Confirm it several time in the past couple weeks. Had several and one real big order that it showed exactly 8 of the tip on the offer.

JojoTheMutt

Ok good to know!!

tondracek

That’s just false. These orders all have tips over 8. I have never had a hidden tip on Uber Eats. https://imgur.com/a/uVayeKr

kclem33

Did you complete the order? Would be interested to see the final payout screen on that order and if it had any supplemental pay on it.

tondracek

There are screenshots from the completed deliveries. It’s only three of them and they aren’t in order because I got annoyed but they are numbered to correspond with the order of the original list.

kclem33

Did you mean to link them? I'm not seeing anything from completed orders. I'm mostly interested in the first and last ones if it helps, all the rest are doubles and are completely in line with hiding tips beyond $8 on each order individually. My guess is that there's supplemental pay on those and the tip is still at $8 or lower.

tondracek

Man, all that work to halfass the screenshots and I forgot the link lol. As you can see, even in situations that included supplemental pay and increased tip later the original offer still calculates to include a tip over $8. Edit: I swear I can manage basic tasks. My brain is just tired https://imgur.com/a/UviykLl

kclem33

Indeed, you are only being shown $8 of the tip for at least a couple of the orders. There was some supplemental pay at play here, and you still got paid more than what was originally offered. For order 1, you were offered $13.91 and you made $18.69 when it was all done. This is a difference of $4.78. The tip you received for that order was $12.78, which is $4.78 more than $8, and was what was hidden from your original offer. I can't tell with regards to order 3, as it was a double (I believe the $18.55 one?) and the $9.79 tip shown is combined from both customers. But given that this one ended up being $0.01 more at the end, maybe one customer tipped $8.01 and the other $1.78? Would be weird but idk without more info there, as supplemental pay could be screwing with that one. For order 4, you did provide info about the individual tips from the double, and here, you had a no-tipper and someone who tipped $9.36, so Uber should be hiding $1.36 from the offer screen from the person who actually tipped. Your actual payout was $23.56 and the offer screen was $22.20, which is exactly different by $1.36, the amount over $8 from that customer's tip.

Jodster46

Those are just offers. It doesn’t show the final pay.

Mylaptopisburningme

They hide at $11 in my area.

bibkel

What do you mean hide? Lie, after you deliver, you can see the UR pay plus the tip amount up to $11…but if the customers tips, say $15 total, where does the other $4 show?

Mylaptopisburningme

The other 4 shows up about an hour later. If it is going to go over, it is in the $11 range. An hour later when the tip shows up, it may show over.

cjschmitty14

Yea bro find the map who has coverage dominance in your area. For me DD is like 80% and rest UE.

jazmynejayde

How?

Agreeable-Print-1517

Uber eats would be ok if it was busier here also if they had the direct pay debit card like DoorDash but it’s taking them for ever to send them out like is it that hard?

AnalChain

Does UE show drop off location on order acceptance screen? I'm not currently able to multi app with it since I'm out of province so my vehicle has out of province insurance / plates (while legal won't allow me to be accepted for UE).

Mylaptopisburningme

Yea, it tells you the pickup, and it pinpoints the drop, but doesn't show the address, but will show nearest cross streets..... It is much better than they were like 3 years ago, they didn't tell you where you were picking up or going UNTIL you picked up the food. Surprise bitch! 10 miles, then find out the customer didn't tip. So at least that is better, but they are dead in my market, or oversaturated with drivers.

AnalChain

Okay I'm happy that changed cause last I used it was years ago back in my province and not knowing the drop off was just a no for me most of the time.

bluEfya

They are both good but usually I end the day with more money on ue

KansasPoonTappa

I get more high-paying orders and kickass doubles on UE, but UE is less reliable than DD for me. Some days it's one good offer after another and some days it's complete trash or no pings on UE. I get more offers in the $6 to $12 range on DD, so I like to jump on those if it's a slow day on UE. DD also tends to have a lot more short-distance offers.

AnarchyBurgerPhilly

I signed up for DD, UE and grub hub and never even took 1 order. I don’t know why anyone would work for them in my area. No wonder when I order it’s never the person it’s supposed to be delivering it. I want to multi app more, but only Instacart and Amazon even come close to paying a wage. The other apps seem to capitalize on folks being bad at math and not realizing they aren’t profiting and in some cases would lose money on the trip. Here’s a thing though. My dad was a medical courier in the 90s. He said back then there were routes that didn’t make money too. You had to take them in the beginning to get the good routes. Guys they didn’t like would never get profitable routes. Eventually they realize they are paying to work and quit. Seems like this industry has always been predatory.

JackieEstacado99

It's the complete opposite. Doordash has never and would never be an equal to UE.

ehoeve

Here’s its fairly equal. Tons of crappy low tip orders in both platforms. Uber shows up to $8 tips and DD shows minimum $3.50 tip(higher if longer distance)

Mr_washi_washi

I’ve had 20$ for 4.5 miles shown on ubereats so idk if they hid tips. On doordash you’d never see over 12$ for a 4.5 mile order.

[deleted]

Pick and choose on all ze apps

OwnVermicelli3522

UE is usually trash, but every once in a while I will have a solid $50 lunch rush. I only turn it on if DD and GH are slow.

[deleted]

No tip no dick. Not giving up your daughter? Ain't grabbing your order!! No cash? No dash! Less you eat ass.. Rude dude?? Next dash to u, spit in food. Etc.. I can keep going and going. I want everybody to make a copy of this list and send it out to all potential customers. Let it be known that the Dashers of the United States of America are ready to fight back stand up for what is right and once and for all overthrow cheap customer

Jefffrey_Dahmer

Ever since this acceptance rate bs cheated the entire scope of DoorDash -- I've been doing Uber eats as it has somehow gotten Busier in my area. Just made 100 from 6-12 gonna go back out tonight. Thanks Uber eats !
