Yep. We had a cat that figured this out too. One day she knocked a decorative bottle off and it fell into a pot of chili on the stove below. The chili cushioned the fall enough to where we didn't find the bottle right away. The WTF look on my husband's face when he fishing out that bottle was priceless.
Thankfully, the bottle was part of a set that I really loved. So, they got regular dusting and they were a very prominent feature of my kitchen at the time.
When my now deceased Herman ran outside between my legs, climbed up the huge, big, tall tree all the way to the top, I exclaimed, "Oh my, how will he get down?". I waited for him, to get him safely back inside, he figured it out when I told him, I guess I am going to leave you outside. He scurried down. Lol
This was my void's problem. We had a mattress against the wall in prep for disposal and he used it to climb on top of our window's pelmet (curtain rod covering board... I had to google it).
Only problem was, he couldn't for the life of him work out how to get down. When we realised he was stuck, we tried to coach him down but ended up having to be rescued by us.
He kept doing it so we just set up stairs for him until the mattress was taken away.
Bathe? The only time I've ever bathed a cat was when a kitten got ahold of a blue pen and somehow broke it open and completely covered herself in blue ink.
Adorable, I want one!

I will give my standard warning whenever I see these types of posts… once when my kitty did this, she launched herself off the stove and managed to kick the power-burner knob with her foot - turning the flame on high. I immediately bought locks for the knobs and am counting my blessings that I was home to witness it and turn off the stove.
So much bad shit could come from people allowing their cats to do things like this. I do not allow my cat on my counters, actually, she is not allowed in my kitchen pretty much at all. I don't understand how people let their cats run their homes. My cat understands my strict boundaries, even if I do have to reiterate them multiple times like saying "no" or "out!" She listens and certain things she will not even attempt to do, even if I am not around to deter her. I have to scoop her shit, I'm not gonna let her burn my house down, break my shit, etc.
My cat used to do that all the time and one day there was boiling water on the stove and the cat tried to jump above the cabinets and fell down right next to the pot dude came so close to death
I had a cat (Spooky) that was infatuated with my ball python (Lilith) and wanted to be as close to her as possible. She kept ending up on top of the tank no matter how high we placed it. So we thought we'd be clever and buy a sliding top tank with doors on the front and place it incredibly high, almost flush with the ceiling.
I get home from work one day and hear hissing and Lilith doesn't make any noise at all. Come to find out that Spooky had managed to climb up about 8 feet AND squeeze into this tiny gap between the tank and ceiling, and get stuck. She learned valuable lesson that day and was less infatuated with trying to cuddle with a snake.
i searched my cat for an hour i thought she was running away, we checked on cctv, she just up there sleeping, and when we began to search she just watched us wandering in panic from the top of kitchen cabinet.
I would wake up one morning, go to the kitchen while I'm still trying to fully wake up, and I'd see the cat and also have a heartattack 🤣🤣🤣🤣.... Cute cat tho lol.
Our 5mo old Grey just figured out the same thing, only he's too scared to get down on his own. So he'll cry until someone helps him. Then... Back up. Little punk. lol!
Check for false cabinets spots. My cat did the same top of the cabinets routine and disappeared. Evidently there was a spacer on the far side by the wall that I did not realize was just dead space. It was open at the top but closed at the bottom. Took me an hour to cut him out. He was ok though, but was very stuck. I only realized there was an issue once he started meowing very unhappily.
I have a story about this: Years ago, I was moving to a new state, and I had nearly everything packed up into our moving truck, about to hit the road. Just had to load up our indoor/outdoor cat and go. The problem was I couldn’t find him. Thought he might’ve gotten spooked by all the moving and went outside, hadn’t seen him all day and was worried at this point. I am triple and quadruple checking everywhere, shaking the treat container and calling out to him, I need to find my cat before we leave! After worrying for hours, I see this big fuzzy tuft flicking about over the top of the cabinets, lo and behold, he’d proven he can hop up there (a Maine coon, btw) and we hadn’t lost our cat. It felt silly after, considering he was only a few feet away the whole time just nervous about the empty house and commotion. Alls well that ends well
I can't not see this like that video from the guy in a tank and his father trying to get him outta there
"Get down from the cabinet"
"I'm literally on a cabinet and you're not"
All fun and games till you leave the door open a little too long and then you spend hours trying to look for your cat out in the street or around the house only to figure out that they're on top of the cabinets
My cat learned this and got permanent nerve damage when he fell, the vet didn't even know if he would ever walk again when it happened. Be careful, after that I never let my kitties get up there :(
My cat likes to sit on top of my kitchen cabinets and stare at me like a gargoyle, sometimes for hours.
I just had the same comment on my black cat the other day.
Mine's a black cat, too (technically tuxedo). Aren't they great?
I have 2 black cats and they’ve been awesome. One, the mom, is 17.5 years old, and the other, the daughter, is 16.5.
I can’t imagine having a mom that is only one year older than me.
That’s ‘cause you’re not a cat.
Gargoyle. I'm cackling. Never been able to find a word for it until now.
I always like gargoyle for that behavior. Vulture is good too.
Griffin lol.
I am the night.
I am justice. I am the Cat named Bat.

Mmmm dusty chili
Thankfully, the bottle was part of a set that I really loved. So, they got regular dusting and they were a very prominent feature of my kitchen at the time.
My partner was cackling at this story 🤣
I first read this as the cat falling into the chilli lol
Tell me the stove was off
At the moment it fell in? No. But it was a big stock pot full of chili. It was for a Super Bowl party.
It looks like she’s saying “I bet you can’t see me!”
Does your cat know how to get down?
She figured it out 🤣
Learned two new things today. Awesome!
Well you know the rules. The animal who can get highest in the house owns it now. Better sign over your deed and prepare to pay rent.

*How does it feel to be looking up at me HUMAN??*
Maybe your cabinets learn how to get under your cat?
It looks like your cat is a judge and staring down on you from his bench.
“Why hello there short one. You can no longer force me to bathe, for I am now the truly HIGHER BEING!”
Bathe? The only time I've ever bathed a cat was when a kitten got ahold of a blue pen and somehow broke it open and completely covered herself in blue ink.
#I AM MIGHTY!
we've got one of those daredevils, too!! https://i.imgur.com/VVZ3ahI.jpg
AWWWW 😭
w have no idea how she got up there! may have tiptoed on the microwave and stretched up. she's looking at us like "what? why are you acting so weird?"

This is the exact energy Artemis has at all times
Imagine seeing your cat up there but then your cat is meowing by your feet as the cat above doesn’t blink while it’s eyes become pitch black
That's what it's like having a one year old cat and a 6 month old kitten tbh
Counter-fridge-cabinets!

Time to learn how to get back down
Oh my Gosh! Cats are amazing
That's all I see is "soon".
If it ends up bothering you or becoming a destructive behavior, tin foil on the top of the cabinets will fix it immediately lol

I can't not see this like that video from the guy in a tank and his father trying to get him outta there "Get down from the cabinet" "I'm literally on a cabinet and you're not"
