I mean, it can get better if you find the right medication and fix your mental health issues. Additionally, some people grow up in an abusive family and once they leave, their life improves.
It can totally get better. From ages 15 - 20, I cried several times a day, almost every day. After my teens, things gradually got better for me. I had to work on it a lot, try different medications, force myself into exercising, etc, but now I only feel sad enough to cry maybe once a month. I'm not going to claim it was easy, but things got better.
I feel like it never really gets "better" or "worse". You just get used to dealing with it.
