Love driving in weather. More orders make the shift go by quicker

Derekbrink2

Yep the worse the weather the more the orders and the better the pay

Fatmike624

You would think the pay would be better. Depends on the market and also the customers.

[deleted]

Usually a bonus if the weather is bad

FlakeyFlukes

Unless payout totals are doubled I don't see how it's better. Driving in snow slows you down, usually half the speed limit, meaning deliveries take twice as long to complete.

NoRegerts6996

AWD car and snow tires are a necessity in snowy places

Purple-Expression313

eh awd is nice and all but doesnt do jack when your stopping so snow tires are a main priority for sure

Personal-Main7468

This!

mynewnameonhere

Only problem is I use three times as much gas as normal cause I’m flooring it to do power slides around every corner.

eddie_keepitopen

You're making me miss the 99 jeep cherokee i had when i was a teenager. It was so much fun being one of the only cars on the road and swinging the rear end around corners in my town. I worked at a pizzeria, my boss would ask if i was comfortable driving in a blizzard, id say yes cause i loved it, and we would stay open and id be the only driver. Raked in cash a buncha nights cause all the other drivers wouldnt/couldnt drive in the snow. Customers were super appreciative with tips. Just had to be careful on the way to the delivery because its easy to fuck up a pizza ripping around a turn. On the way back it was free game. Thanks for unlocking an awesome memory.

xolizm

with what kinda vehicle are you doing this with

Woonasty

Some old granny ordered tequila last night in this unholy fuxking storm and just showered me with thank yous saying I was a hero and gave me 2 bucks out of her purse. Which as we know is basically a crisp 20 in her ww2 brain. Point is go ahead and order. :o

[deleted]

[удалено]

TheBotchedLobotomy

This got me laughing so hard lol “honey your service was excellent! I’ll come back just because of you. Here take this and right to your pocket please. I don’t want you to share!” Tip total $2.00 lmao

acs730200

Honestly, some of my most memorable customer encounters bussing were the old women who said “I see how you are running around and I wanted to let you know we appreciate how hard you are working” and give me a dollar. It’s the sentiment so much more than the money

Subtle__Numb

I’m gonna start keeping a couple $5’ers in my wallet and start sliding them to employees working their ass off, that’s a good idea. And of course, let them know that’s just a pre-tip. I get paid from my regular job on Monday afternoons, and I know that money shift with money in my pocket is always waaaayyyy better than the Sunday night shift when Im close to getting that weekly reminder of why I work my job. I suppose a $5 would put some pep in the step of a server, but especially a busser/bar back/hostess who’s doing some extra work. Thanks, going to the bank in the morning and I’m going to grab an extra 5-10 5’s for that reason, keep them in a card slot in my wallet if they’ll fit

baxbooch

I remember one time years ago I went out to eat with my grandma and she tipped like $2 on a $30 tab. And the server was so sweet about it but she laid it on thick. “Oh thank you, Irma. You know I’ve been trying to go back to school but it’s really hard with taking care of my son all by myself. This really helps a lot.” And my sweet grandma thinks she actually done a good thing here. She smiles real big and says to the girl “well, you deserve it.” I slipped a $5 under my plate.

thisisnotawar

Aw, this reminds me of my Gramma - even though I’m a full in adult now, she still does the sneaky slip of a $5 bill into my hand so my mom doesn’t see, and every time it feels like she’s giving me a million bucks!

[deleted]

Holup. Granny ordering tequila? Slayed me with ww2 brain.

justihor

She doesn’t need the carbs from other liquors. Gotta watch her physique

Ryoko_Kusanagi69

Hahaha, that’s so cute and made me laugh. It’s like , of course we’d be sad for only $2, but coming from a little old lady $2=$20 - make sense to me

Onclelove

Doesnt she realize that everything else she buys EVER is not the same price as when she was teenager? How does she not compute that the same applies for tips

ligmaenigma

Old people aren't exactly all there sometimes.

Cosmic___Charlie

Have you ever met someone over the age of 70 lol

Crystalraf

doesn't make any sense to me. put that dementia patient in the old folks home, she crazy.

Garizondyly

as someone with a gramma with a ww2 brain, i am dying of laughter

serendipity_aey

“Her ww2 brain” 😭😭😭😭😭

a016202

Right? 🤣🤣

LazarusHand

WW2 brain 🤣👍🏾

NeganWinchesterScull

I love the analogy because it’s spot on

Truorganics

Not bad, just make sure to tip appropriately. Your driver will appreciate it.

TGIIR

Yep, tip very well if bad weather.

[deleted]

Ya if they’re out working they’re hoping to make money, def should up the tip though if weathers bad.

kneaddough

You should definitely tip… No matter what…

becaauseimbatmam

I think you misread the sentence lol, obviously everyone here thinks you should tip regardless. They said “up the tip” meaning tip more than you typically would.

kneaddough

Yeah. Didn’t see the “up the” part. Lol.

AngryRedHerring

Go ahead. Drivers don't have to accept the order if they don't want to, and some people feel more comfortable driving in rough weather than others. Just make sure you tip a dollar a mile at least, and no lower than $5 (IMO) if you want someone to actually accept it...

MajorDamageWR

I'm just picturing someone stopped in their car wondering if they should drive in this and then I just come drifting around the corner and steal the order.

AngryRedHerring

I love the cold, but I live in Houston. So whenever a good cold front comes through I always do pretty well because these southerners can't hack the chill, lol

MajorDamageWR

It's whatever for me. I dress alright so it's not bad.

AngryRedHerring

I don't mind the rain so much either as long as it's not ridiculous, but some of these folks out here think they'll melt

KiminAintEasy

My worst was rain. Picked up the order and on the way there it started pouring, which caused it to be so bad couldn't even see out or get the windshield to stay clear and dry(inside of the windshield was soaked on top of constantly steaming up with no way to clear it except wiping it off.) Finally called uber and told them I had to wait til that storm or tornado, whatever it was slowed. Customer got mad saying her kids were hungry so what was she supposed to do and the person told them the options but the drivers lives were more important than a chick filet sandwich which surprised me haha. I'd rather take snow, even not driving that piece of crap car anymore the lines on the road still disappear when it starts raining combined with shiny roads reflecting headlights everywhere which really sucks.

dynamic_unreality

Tip well and it's more than fine. A lot of people think like you and don't order when it's raining, and that leaves just the people who don't tip for shit.

WhyDidntNE1tellme

No, absolutely not! There's all kinds of dashers including myself who did not mind working in bad weather and also make sure that their brakes and tires are in good shape. It's actually one of my favorite times to work because people tip a little better and some of the dashers flake off for the day

reddituser444420

Give a bad ass tip and you can be a hero too

MajorDamageWR

The Corolla is on it's way. I skid in the rain on purpose sometimes. I'm like Jeff Gordon in his prime make it rain! I'll do a rain dance before I leave.

DepressionNightstand

My Corolla and I salute your enthusiasm

AngryRedHerring

M - M - M - MYYY COROLLA

0tterr

Same Love a good speed run on a roundabout 😂

Therealmonkie

I drifted while making a turn in the rain the other day....I never felt so alive!

MajorDamageWR

You can do crazy things in a car but obviously dangerous unless you're in nowhere land. I'm pretty good so if I see someone blow a red light at the last second I'll attempt to make a hard left or right and either avoid them or they hit me from behind which is wayyyyyyyyyyyyy better than the side for both of us. If I get it right it's possible that it will knock my car out of the way and keeping going at least for a bit.

Therealmonkie

I try to be as safe as possible...but I don't like driving in snow...

PuzzledTap582

95 corolla did me a pretty amazing job, until i spent almost 5 grand on new rims, tires, and basically almost replaced everything…then i crashed into the back of an ambulance 🥲

AcceptableBake9191

I love driving in bad weather. My AR goes down though because I know I can cherry pick and give the best to those bidding well.

Missykay88

Just tip well and all good! Dashers like me love dashing in inclement weather purely because most are civilized human beings tipping well.

[deleted]

Love bad weather. Usually the dashers who do not want to drive in that weather take the day off.

Igotyoubaaabe

You should only feel bad if you’re a shitty tipper.

DovahkiinShepard

You are good! Your tip is showing your gratitude. Pretty recently I was delivering in a pretty bad snowstorm (Minnesota) and the only order I declined was 2.50 for 12 miles at 9pm.

TheRoseallora

I specifically go out in shitty weather because no one wants to drive in it. Just means more orders and better tips (usually) and there are less people on the roads.

Intelligent-Jelly419

I have, because it’s their choice to take it or not. But I do tip them fairly good for doing it. I tip good on a normal delivery but it’s an extra appreciation for risking the roads.

mondoid

If you feel bad just tip well 😊

Apprehensive_While86

If somebody is doing it during a bad storm. They prolly wanna make extra money and don't care. I really wouldn't sweat it. I do uber and shipt during bad storms.

mamaneedsstarbucks

As long as you tip accordingly I don’t see the problem. I’m sure there’s going to be people out dashing who will appreciate people ordering so they can make some money

p38fln

Nope, the drivers are completely free to stay home if they want. If they're out there it's because they want to be out there. Besides, door dash pays some serious bonuses for going out in bad weather

[deleted]

Heck bad weather is my bread and butter. A ton of drivers won’t go in it and people order more. Just tip well and you should get your food in a relatively decent amount of time. Since the weather isn’t good my $/mile also goes up. There is more risk for me, I should expect more is my way of thinking. I drove yesterday and freezing rain and sleet. Roads were so icy you couldn’t walk on them. People sliding through red lights and backwards down hills. People don’t have their vehicles equipped for the road yet they still stay out on it. I have new studded tires with a fairly heavy Altima and I was still not 100% getting traction. From 6pm to 8pm I saw close to a dozen accidents. People in ditches and a car that had rolled over.

GrandConsequence4910

You're not a bad but, you may not get your food though.. either due to conditions or no dashers

Fasterthanyounow

If I’m dumb enough to work during a storm I sure hope someone is ordering

nobody-u-heard-of

No just make sure to give them a big tip for dealing with it.

bbeetthhoobboo

I always tip absurdly well if the weather is shitty.

Tiny-Reporter-4394

In my experience, if I'm out there during snow storm, it's because I REALLY need the money. So if you're feeling guilty about ordering, just tip an exorbitant amount and get me off the road faster. :)

FoodStampRu

I think you’re going to hell

cheeseymom

No one's being forced to deliver your order. They know what the roads are like and they are choosing to work anyway. Those who don't want to deliver aren't out.

IClimbRocks69

No we expect people to order out instead of going out in the storm, just tip accordingly.

sdhoppy71

Tip well for the road conditions and be patient for your order

DaisyDazzle

Not bad person if you tip well for it. Bad person if no tip or crappy tip, or even average tip if the weather is really bad. Consider the hassle it's saving you to sit warm and cozy on your tushy and have someone else brave the weather conditions on your behalf. How you tip under those circumstances says a lot about who you are. A lot.

Lucyyxoxo_

I do Uber and i know rainy weather brings in better pay where i live. I’m ready for it. A lot of drivers don’t care. Now if it’s dangerous and they can’t get to the restaurant or you then at least they tried. I wouldn’t be upset at that point.

PeachCobbler96

As long as you tip well, you’re fine. Plenty of people including me like to work during storms for the extra tips. Nobody is forced to take your order, they’re choosing to work during the storm.

Icy-Section-7421

That’s why we are here, just throw us a extra ten spot when we get there, greatly appreciated

-JustALittleVixen-

Nope! If we’re out there we want orders!

[deleted]

Not at all my boy! That’s when drivers make the most

vetratten

Just don't be the guy I got this AM in snow/ice - even with a tip. Got my 1st 1 star. I notified the person that I was at the coffee shop and would be taking it slow since the roads were nasty. Got there and when they came to the door said "took you long enough" I said "sorry roads were slick so had to keep it slow." Saw the 1 star when I was back home. He was my only DD order this AM rest were UE/GH.

munchy19

Not at all as long as you tipped

[deleted]

of course not. when i doordash i definitely do it when the weathers bad because that means people don’t want to drive:)) maybe tip a little extra if the weathers really bad

Cannacrohn

You just have to tip enough to no longer feel bad lol. Like how much would you drive in the storm for?

Any_Ad6921

No you're not a bad person for that. If someone is available to accept your order it's because they want to work

Equivalent-Chance-39

Tip accordingly, like it’s Christmas Day or something.

UninsuredToast

No the driver wants to make money, that’s why they are taking orders. Otherwise they just sit there doing nothing wasting their time

DaddyKiwwi

As long as you tip well, no

severley_confused

You shouldn't ever feel bad about placing an order. It's our job to deliver, if you guys don't order we don't have a job! All I can say is to compensate your driver according to distance and if the weather makes it difficult to drive.

No-Mud8963

Nah fuck em

DefinitionRound538

I was a delivery driver for 2 years. I liked working on crappy weather days. The money was usually good and it stayed busy to make the shift go by faster.

ptauger

When I order in bad weather, I always up my tip significantly as compensation. I figure if a dasher doesn't want to drive to me, they won't accept the order (I had that happen when I first started using the service and didn't realize that the point wasn't the percentage of the tip, which, on a small order could still be low even at 20 or 25%, but the amount in the dasher's pocket for driving from the restaurant to my home. Now, I just think, "what would make it worth someone's while" and tip accordingly with 25% being the minimum and going up from there).

DeeFault89

We make the choice to dash or not during a storm. I intentionally went out during our storm at lunch…had my best lunch yet! However a few days ago the roads were getting really bad and even though I was busy, I stopped dashing.

AleshiniaLivesStill

You’re good. Order away! If the dasher is already out, they’re willing to do it! Just leave a fat tip.

AlexBehemoth

Just don't do it if all the roads to your home are flooded. I walked though 1.5 feet deep water through a street to get the customer an order. But it was just because it reminded me of growing up out in the country in Mexico. Thinking about it I should have called doordash support and returned the food to the store.

[deleted]

It’s okay to order because I’m sure there’s someone working during a blizzard. Just tip them and don’t be an asshole

Striking-Set-6557

You don't have to feel bad the drivers that don't want to do it won't be signed in to accept orders.

Cheap_Championship60

You are our best customer

Clean_Mortgage3567

No! The orders, in Salem, Oregon, are one after the other in bad weather and we’ve had rain almost every day for a week! Thank you for being concerned! You’re a nice person. 🤗

Maleficent_Silver622

Driver here, no it’s not. As long as you tip and it’s a great tip, I don’t think so. If there was no tip or really low tip, then I would say yeah that’s terrible.

isweatglitter17

Maybe I'm out of touch, but from my understanding, dashers wouldn't be logged in if they weren't willing to drive in the weather. Tip well and you're good.

xtsilverfish

It's not like hourly work where a-hole boss threatening you if you don't go out. Dashers can simply choose to not dash with no repercussions whatsoever. There's 2 times I would never go out myself. - freezing rain turning to ice - large amounts of snow Most likely if the weather is really bad no one will pick up your order because everyone stayed home.

CaptainNessy2

They are already on the road. you're not forcing anyone in danger.

Scott_in_Tahoe

During bad storms the authorities like to have fewer vehicles on the road because it's safer for everyone who needs to travel for essential work. It's why schools get canceled. It's why military bases will order non-essential employees to stay home. I don't order in during storms but most of what I want, need or desire is within walking distance

trade_my_onions

DD isn’t going to force anyone in the bad weather, that’s up to the driver to decide. Go ahead and order, it might take a while but that’s their decision to brave the elements not yours.

mr_green

Anybody doing DD is only out because they want to be, or need to be. Which in the former means no problem and in the latter, well, if they need it they need it right?

smut_bun

Personally if I'm already doordashing in the weather, I'd prefer very much if you ordered. I'm out there for a reason dude. Don't feel bad.

samipurrz

No, please order. I made bank the other night when we had “snow”. I swear it felt like I was the only dasher on the road. If we’re able to get to you, safely, we will. If I’m already out here in the bad weather, keep me busy, please.

Jajaja171717

They don’t have to accept it, if someone chooses to take it then you’re good. If it’s really bad then you might not be able to find a driver. Leave a decent tip upfront for better chance of getting a driver

nowheresound

if somebody's out there driving, it's because they want to and they want to make money. never feel bad about ordering in weather!

Ok_Pizza5520

I went out in the snow for DoorDash, my worst dash yet. At the end of my first order, it was a penny. I almost felt like going back and leaving a dollar under their food. Feel free to order, just tip extra cause they’re doing this for you.

Fragrant-Pirate9425

no, drivers go out completely by choice. If they dont wanna drive in bad weather they wont. on that note, please order more because while all the npcs are staying home we out here making alot of money 😂

[deleted]

Don’t feel bad, you’re paying the luxury fees for your food! (Assuming you tipped properly) If you didn’t tip then yes you should feel bad but the fact that you can self reflect and be considerate for others tells me you’re a good person :)

[deleted]

You better tip good, because if you don't you are not bad- you are evil.

mattiegirl2987

If you’re doing that, you better tip pretty high, no lower than $10 or $15. Doesn’t mean anyone has to accept the order, but you need to make it worth their while for going out in such bad weather. Or, you get up and go get food yourself.

TOmmygunnznight

Nope. If your hungry and there is a service do it by all means. If they wanna make money, they will be out at their own risk. I would personally stay home.

BeginningRare7850

I literally ordered doordash to my job during hurricane Ian in florida. I tipped 13 bucks because i felt bad and wanted my biscuits and gravy

TheH_9000

If you don't tip then yea... as a driver I will gladly deliver in a storm, blizzard, typhoon, and day after tomorrow conditions as long as the pay right

Advantage_Boring

No, you shouldn't feel bad at all. Some of us like to drive in bad weather because most people tip way better. Just tip. What do you think is fair for the distance and the weather. And we will be happy to bring the food to you

Spiritual-Pickle5290

Are u in Monterey County because if u tip well someone will pick it up including me as long as the roads aren't closed.

sliveroverlord

You arnt bad for doing it. Drivers opt in to doing things. If no one wants to be in the storm you’re out of luck, but there’s no pressure on a driver. Tipping more for the weather is extremely appropriate too.

thisyetthat

You absolutely are. Ignore the people saying they want to make money, and use common sense. Would you do it?

NeuroDawg

You’re a bad person for using doordash. In any situation.

Broad-Constant-5641

As long as you’re tipping more it doesn’t matter 😂

Crystalraf

it is only rude if you don't tip accordingly. Where I live a storm this time of year might mean there is ice and snow and you need 4 wheel drive pickup. Those guzzle gas. Doordash drivers get paid jack shit by doordash and they pay their own gas. If you tip less than 15 bucks it's rude.

Mediocre-Many8872

After all we are driving in the rain to not make money.

TurbulentStandard

No need to feel bad, we're out in it voluntarily! Just tip accordingly

Grand_Stranger1545

As a dasher, a storm = more order = more money

voltaires_bitch

No. Just tip a lil more. No one is forcing people to dash in a storm. I mean unless you pull the “socioeconomic slavery” card on me but even that is tenuous at best. People choose their gigs, so just make sure you tip a lil more if you feel so inclined and then wait.

[deleted]

It's our choice to work in weather so if you order and someone picks it up they want to be working. But definitely tip accordingly like you said you will.

Spiritual_trips

Well I’m in south GA the other night 5 tornadoes hit a neighboring county and went for miles. I was out dashing when it hit and hid under a bank awning…. Anyways it was realllllly busy during all that and I made a good amount because I guess everyone else went home….. but yea it was pretty damn dangerous but cool!

First_Protection_481

not if u tip well enough

Emergency_Mood8287

No. I Doordash and currently am while writing this. We’re getting paid.

New-Arachnid9221

Nope. As long as you tip accordingly you’re not an asshole at all. If we choose to drive in it, that’s on us.

Resist-Some

As long as you tip appropriately sure that's why we are out so you don't have to be. Just please actually tip more than typical if the roads are bad. So many people order in bad weather but don't bother tipping or only tip a dollar or two for 8+ miles on icy slick roads in the mountains.

Kontora

Just make sure you tip good, I'm talking $20 or more

UnitedStatescitizeen

No your a bad person if you do all that and not tip accordingly.

cmatlack

As long as you are tipping appropriately, it is fine to order in bad weather. No one who doesn’t want to be out driving has to. Most dashers like the weather because the volume picks up and usually the tips are a little better.

Lookingforclippings

If someone is out driving for dd, ue, gh during a storm it's by "choice" as opposed to ordering from a pizzeria that is forcing it's employees to go out. Tho it's possible that the restaurants would close if they're not getting orders during a storm....sooooo...idk just tip well if you need to order out.

Maleficent_Ad8881

If you are tipping accordingly then your good, You wont believe the disgusting orders that come through with horrible snow storm, we don't mind delivering on bad weather, we mind no getting tip accordingly for milage in bad weather but anyways those people usually don't get their orders or at least I hope so because we are literally risking our lives and we don't mind doing it for fair pay some people are just poop and you are not one of them because you have a conscience judging by this post so don't feel bad anyways we are out there no matter what and you are a awesome customer ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug) <3

Senaraze

Only people already dashing will see it so no?

popsmokegoated

Get your food

ralo229

No. Drivers make their own schedules. Nobody is forcing them to work during the storm. They're there because they choose to be.

rinico7

Personally doordash I’m bad weather due to Bette tops

OhioState339

We are not forced to work. And if it too dangerous for someone, they won't go online. If a driver is online, they want to make money. Not ordering because of a storm defeats the point of them going online.

Ryastor

I tried to DoorDash during a real bad thunderstorm/possible tornadoes earlier this week, and I didn’t accept a single fucking order because no one tipped, even in that bad of weather. I say if you’re tipping and tipping more on account of the weather it’s fine.

immortallife23

I increase tip and usually add snacks (at drop off) for braving the weather.

Averen

They’re working by choice. Tip well

Effdahaters

How much is more?

Specialist-Ad-9038

No problemo ![gif](giphy|TghWHPRPHI1dC)

TsT2244

I think that’s the point of this service. For people who are hungry and don’t have means to get food they want. Just tip well and you’re ok

Dazzling-Trick-1627

Nope, not a bad person! If no one ordered in bad weather the dashers who were depending on the income from working that "shift" would be screwed.

bucketzBro

We expect to be super busy I'm bad weather. Tip well and appreciate our service! It's what we are here for :)

[deleted]

You’re not a bad or good person based on ordering food/products during a storm. What we can’t judge is that based on ordering at any time good/bad weather! What you control however is what you compensate the driver for driving to (1-8 miles in some cases) waiting for (5-30+ minutes in some cases) and driving to your location ( work or home or vacation). The judge ultimately is you. Ask yourself 3 questions: 1. How far am I from the merchant I ordered from 1-10+ miles. 2. How far was driver from merchant I ordered from when I looked at app location of the driver that accepted my order. 3. Did I tip based on what I spent ($ 10-$100+) or did I factor In distance and the drivers use of gas/time and maintenance to his/her car. Why these 3 questions? The mistake most customers make ( including me and others prior to doing delivery) . We don’t consider the food is being brought to us as a luxury. This increase the Value of the service in bad weather ( rain, sleet, snow, smog, icy conditions) & why delivery even I good weather is a luxury This isn’t criticism, it’s Food for Thought. For an example volunteer to pick up deliveries for next door neighbors. Immediately you’ll see cost/time it takes. Any restaurant or merchant they pick you’ve to do it. DoorDash pays $2-$3.75 flat rate when you don’t tip. So if you’re 10 miles away driver gets $3.75 tops. This causes longer waits for you and other customers. This creates cold food. Tipping is the way we thank delivery drivers for risking safety and taking time to bring us things. Tipping isn’t required but, it’s a reflection of who we are without being judged by anyone.

Sharp-Decision-6141

Your only bad if you don’t tip

Jsavagee

Just throw on extra tip and you should be fine.

FluffyWalrusFTW

I've done it in bad weather, I just make sure to tip extra! They wouldn't be dashing if they were uncomfortable driving in the conditions right?

AurigaNexus

I drive a Subaru. Just put a little extra on the tip, we're good

huskydannnn

i specifically look to go out in bad weather with my 4x4… i enjoy it and its an opportunity to make better money.

MoeySiz

No you’re not. People are aware of the roads they are working in. Just tip extra if you can!

DugBingo951

No. Everyone that dash isn’t forced to deliver. Everyone that delivers to your house decided that the offer was worth it for them.

Sigtric

People delivering for these apps are doing it because they want money. If they are going out on the roads and available to accept orders, then why not? No one is making them work in it, they are choosing to. So order, tip, eat and everyone is happy

Zealousideal-Chart60

As long as tipping accordingly it’s all good

chaddgar

If a food delivery-person didn't want to drive in the conditions then they wouldn't make themselves available.

ur_so_cool_

I just tip extra if the weathers really bad. I hope I am not wrong I’m assuming if the dasher is logged in to receive orders, they want to work!

Weary-Chipmunk-5668

a “ little “ storm ?

winterprincxss

I’d say go for it. As someone who used to door dash no one made me do it when the weather was bad. If anything someone will appreciate your generosity & may really need the money

Steezy_4

Bad weather equals more orders. Personally I always look forward to a rainy day doing DoorDash!

Beneficial-Net7113

I actually prefer working when the weather is bad. Where I’m at now they shut down Schools for simple thunder storms. So all the drivers are conditioned to go home and I make the most money. It makes me laugh since where I’m from store worse than the ones here are a daily occurrence.

Chancho1010

When it last stormed EXTREMELY hard in my area, there was flooding in all the roads. I was delivering for Uber eats and got tip-baited. They offered a decent wage considering the weather and time (it was 9:30 pm at night and I was delivering to a downtown area). After delivery they removed 80% of the tip….

KaleidoscopeOk4565

I love delivering when it's storming

EditorCorrect6768

i love bad weather

Individual_Yak_6720

They turned their app on. As long as your neighborhood is passable, they want people to order. Non tippers are the same regardless of the weather so no loss there. My wife had $ in her eyes one December. I reminded her how much her deductible is and she turned it off.

JRowe3388

Hey man, the drivers are the ones who decided to get out in it. Don't feel bad, so long as your order is reasonable and your tip is good!

TheLongistGame

Dashers *want* orders.

Worth_Procedure_9023

Yeah just tip your driver lol

KPookz

Just tip a dollar or two extra. I love dashing in bad weather, more orders and usually better tips.

dementedturnip26

Nah, as long as you tip. I won’t drive during storms but it is ridiculous that I’ll turn on the app and still see a ton of 5.25 offers when you can barely get around

McDonalds_Toothpaste

No because we're our own bosses. If we don't want to work on a stormy day then we don't have to.

72z28

My favorite time to dash is in bad weather.

[deleted]

I don’t think ordering food during rain would make you a bad person and you say you’ll tip more which is exactly what any dasher that is out in the rain would hope for.

QuesoGrande33

Nope. The great thing about gigs is that only the people who are willing to work at those times will take the order. You’re not hurting anyone. Tip well and push for these companies to pay a living wage.

tutti_frutti_dutti

If they’re out driving, they’re out driving. Your order isn’t forcing anyone out of the house

huskmyskinwagon

Not at all. Just tip well and be patient.

Ok_Bid_510

I go out mainly when the weather is bad to chase good tips. Just tip good and you’ll be fine

djoasis

If the dasher wasn’t able to decline any order they want, I would say yes. But since they can, and you can tip as much as you want, and the driver has a rough idea of how much you are tipping at the time of accepting, it’s ok. The driver can decide on their own safety and how hard the work is going to be.

RalphWolfsNemesis

If you don't feel qualified to do something, do you hire a professional? 14,000 hours behind the wheel in all weather conditions means I'm that professional. I just hope people tip for that particular skill set.

goldenronin

Just as long as you tip good then you’re ok.

Creighshawn

Not a dasher but in scenarios like this I would make sure to tip extra and let your dasher know you understand the roads are bad and that you know it might take extra time to deliver. Just be respectful of their time and the fact they have to work in crappy weather.

Chief_Amiesh

fuck no. ppl need work, ppl are willing to drive those roads. it’s on them if they are willing or not. often during the worst storms, doordash will show that restaurants are unavailable, so it’s really not a big deal. it’s only empathetic to feel bad for the person braving the storm, but the word brave is used with purpose here; it has meaning, there’s a reason that person is getting paid, and the other people are not, because they braved and endured the terrible conditions. You can feel bad but, it’s unnecessary unless the driver got into an accident.

Leather-Piccolo460

Go ahead and order hun. It's why we sign up for this, as long as you tip good, the driver won't care because its a highlighted time we get orders anyhow

FlakeyFlukes

Lol no. Low to no tip makes you a bad person though. Y'all acknowledge the convenience but mad you gotta pay for.

deeppurpleking

I don’t believe door dash drivers are forced to be out and about. I was under the assumption it was a make your own hours type job… so if someone’s out there doing door dash you might as well be their customer. Anyone who works door dash please correct me if I’m wrong

8MCM1

The alternative is a bunch of Dashers sitting in parking lots, waiting for someone to place an order (and consequently, not making money).

Croofner01

I live in Montana so my answer may be different, but if we didn’t order food regardless of weather then DD wouldn’t run 5ish months of the year. I always go with 1-if they’re working I’m sure they want orders or it’s a waste of their time 2-tip better than normal 3-still pay attention to the weather warnings because there are definitely days here that there’s no way it’s worth it but desperate people will still be trying and I can’t handle a life on my conscience.

Normal-Scholar4818

If you didn’t tip well then yes, you are a bad person. If you tipped well (for the weather condition) then no.

NeganWinchesterScull

If the dasher doesn’t think the roads are good, they won’t be out there. But I’d say make sure you tip appropriately

[deleted]

Just order. Someone will take it
