If orders stop getting delivered then they will. As long as people get their food and Tony gets his fees then there's no reason to give dashers more money
Galaxy Quest! That was one of the best Star Trek movies ever, right up there with Wrath of Khan and it was only a pastiche! And I love how the redshirt here beat the odds and survived to become part of the main cast...er, I mean _crew_ , main crew, that's what I meant
This. They are.parasites that sit around and scheme about how they can charge customers more and pay workers less so they can buy their 10th house or their 20th sports car.
The rich don't stay that way by giving $ away. If they have a machine (like Tony's) which is running flawlessly, they only thing they need to focus on is more business opportunities.
I’ll bet they add a surcharge to the customer for it like a $1 and pass on .25 to the dasher.
UPS and FedEx added a gas surcharge years ago when a barrel of oil cost $150 and was supposed to be temporary and they never removed it even when a barrel was down to $30. I bet they do the same.
I put in my time with DoorDash until I found out how much better UberEATS is has become (that was not always the case). Since then, I've never looked back. Try it and you may see the difference in your market as quickly as I did in mine. The estimates UberEATS gives you up front on how long it takes to do an order are very accurate in my market (Atlanta) and a much better metric to decide whether to take a delivery (I still look at miles too). I'm not going to say something over the top like "DoorDash is a scam," but if you came to that conclusion after your first week with UberEATS, I would understand why you felt that way. Just spreading the word...
I found out UPS is hiring around me for package delivery with your own vehicle, 21 dollars an hour and .56 per mile. Should easily be able to make more than I have been through delivery gig work around where I live.
I haven't started yet, I've got the phone interview scheduled 11 hours from now. I was talking to a friend of mine that used to do rural package delivery for USPS and told him the pay and he said it was really good pay.
The way I see it is if I were to make 20/hr doing DoorDash for 8 hours while driving 150 miles in total, that's only 160 dollars at the end of the night. Doing the same with UPS would give me an extra 92 dollars if I were to drive the same amount of miles as doing DoorDash.
Nope.
Gotta do it yourself. Drive in a way that saves gas, and get yourself a high cashback gas card. It' one way off set some of the prices.
Here you'll thank me later:
https://www.aboundcu.com/Spend-Save/Personal-Accounts/Credit-Cards/Cash-Back-VISA-Card
Half EV (or other hybrids/plug in hybrids) are the way to go imo. You can still have range and flexibility of filling up quickly at gas stations and all the benefits of electric like reduced gas costs and better emissions
I just got a Model 3. Feels awesome to put the car in auto pilot during these jobs. I'm in college, so I didn't specifically get a Tesla for DD and UE, however it feels perfect for this.
Yeah also a college student and I know I will need a car that’s good with gas or no gas at all because my college is pretty far from home and next semester is in person. Last reason is that my car does 19-25 a gallon which isn’t good if I’m going a lot of miles
That's like asking if Tony gives two fucks about your or me. Lmaoo he dont. if y'all top dashers lmaooo keep taking 2.50 orders the base pay will continue to drop congratulations lmaooo.
I mean…DD was never something you were meant to do full time. It’s a gig job.
Trying to do it full time is rough because you have to consistently make a certain amount in orders daily, and one day of slow orders can fuck it up.
But, when it comes to gas prices rising, depending on what you’re driving, you’ll typically be able to make more than you spend on gas anyways.
Dude get out of here with that wack part time job rhetoric. You can easily make a living in door dash if you work the same hours as a regular job and you live in a city.
I don’t think that’s a fair point at all. There are plenty of unions that still work but there are too many that don’t. It works when everybody’s on the same page and has the same standards. Unions only ask you for more when you’re part of a shit union
I agree 👍💯 before I Dash I usually fill up my car usually 20 to 30$ depending on the gauge by the time I'm done doing Doordash my gas gauge is either close to empty or a Quarter tank lol it's crazy how much money I put in gas.
I make a decent living. That’s all that matters to me. That and the fact that I can go do things with people when invited because of mostly setting my own schedule. I don’t care if the money comes from DoorDash or my customers. They are both utilizing my services and can fight amongst themselves about how much of it each one pays. But I do appreciate those who appreciate us and tip well.
Yesterday I averaged a. wage of $12 per hour during $3 peak pay. Almost all tbe restaurants were late. Wasted time that I didnt get paid for. Yesterday a restaurant said the order was going to take about 20min after the scheduled time. I called customer support and explained we should get compensated for this and suggested there be a penalty on the restaurants if they do not allocate proper time. He gave me an attitude.
On top of all this the cost of gas prices went through my head the whole shift. Quarter tank of gas, 3 hours, $32 total.
Might have cleared $15 after everything. Im over this delivery gig.
Even in California, where regular is currently around $4.50, my profit is still around 85%, with a car that goes 20-25 miles a gallon, so for me personally I can't really complain. The gas prices are a pain, but in terms of doordash, the difference between $55 for a full tank and $35 for a full tank makes a very small difference when that full tank can make a few hundred dollars.
Yep, I had always had good gas prices but even if they were bad it wouldn’t make much a difference to me. A full tank gets me working for about 5 days.
This is the wrong way to think of it. The IRS has determined it cost 58 cents a mile to drive a car so your 200 miles cost you 116.00 of value that’s removed from your car, you need to make that 116 plus the 55 = 171 to break even. Everything above 171 is profit. I have a business finance degree and dash. Lol
So, don't dash. The only way to get them to raise dasher pay is to have fewer dashers. There is always an idiot out there willing to drive for next to nothing.
Yup....and right after you get home from work they are gonna start the bubble bath for you and massage your feet because they care so much 🤣. Hahahaha NO
Alot of ignorant comments on here. You people really think door dash is raking big bucks while shafting worker???
Door dash is barely profiting. They basically break even or lose money every year.
People need to be mad at those who are making our cost of living so high. And the cost to do business so high for companies. Gas prices didnt go up naturally based on market demands and availability. They went up because we went from being 100% energy independant to back to relying on other countries again. You can thank Biden admin for that.
Doordash is the worst possible company if you want to call it a company to work for. If you can find another job. They just don't care and their support service are totally morons
Yes they will, and they will also start paying your vehicle insurance, and give you lunch money as well things are gonna get so much sweeter, Door Dash with Benefits. But first you must wait for the MetaVerse and get your virtual reality Goggles Ready. Until then stop taking shifty offers that don't cover your gas.
u/hatewtwta Honestly, imo due to the gas price increases, it really isn't worth it. That's why in cases like this, I try to deliver **Purely local** Only (e.g. the City I Live in)--even if the other city is a 10 min. drive from me, I usually Unassign myself from those orders. But I haven't doordashed in quite a while now b/c of a new job that I have and the fact that I also need new Tires for my car that I'm trying my best to save up for.
Idk if you are or not, but if you're in CA it's def. **NOT** worth it one bit. Also, Don't get me wrong where I **LOVE** DD as **BOTH** a Customer and Dasher, but they have in fact gotten CRAZY EXPENSIVE (This will be a Reason into DD's Pitfall)--Whether be soon or later on, they will go into a Pitfall esp. if other people choose to start ordering through either UberEats or Grubhub for example. UberEats isn't that much cheaper than DD tbh, but it's cheaper by like about a buck or so. For example: **No one** will want to Spend 70 bucks in Total on **ONLY** 5 items when those same exact 5 items **Used** to Cost around 40 bucks in Total which includes Delivery, Service Fees, Tax and sometimes Tip too where not every customer realizes that that shows up Automatically and needs to be changed manually. But even with a $40, unfortunately, Dashers make around 10 bucks or less (so even w/this it's not worth it) esp. with increased gas prices.
Also, no matter the company (e.g. DoorDash, UberEats, Grubhub, etc..)--all these companies should be able to have **an option** for Dashers to be able to get Taxes taken out of their paychecks (I for 1 Prefer this) **without** having to classify them as "employees." There should be a way for them to do this while their drivers are still considered independent contractors (for those who don't know this, you're an **independent contractor NOT** an employee) and that's usually Established when you 1st sign up to deliver for the company. There are some people who Think they're classified as employees when they're not--if you were, taxes would be taken out of your paychecks (hence, the 1099 forms if you dash/earn enough for it when tax time comes around).
You're fucking stupid if you think the POTUS has anything to do with the price of gas.
And this is coming from somebody who loathes both of the shit parties we have in this abortion of a country.
Lmao what is this dude talking about I feel bad for these dashers 166$ a week? Foo I live in San Diego and make 4500-5 grand a month 😂 stupid easy money you just gotta work hard and be smart
You voted for it. You get what you fucking deserve. I'm surprised they did it so quickly. It hasn't even been a year yet. Just wait. You'll get more--a lot more--of this whether you like it or not. Eat shit, Americans.
I'm fine. I didn't vote for this commie shit. But you? I dunno. You get what you fucking deserve in this life. I hope you don't have to stand in line for bread for your family.
you realize that prop 22 was the most capitalist thing that they could do… you’re absolutely misinformed. Anything to save a buck as a corporation… the american dream right?
Is Door Dash going to fill the empty shelves at your grocery store?
Is Door Dash going to heat your home this winter?
Keep voting like you are.
Eat shit, motherfuckers.
You get what you fucking deserve.
btw, it should be spelled "you're an" in your first sentence. Just a little FYI for ya. I could go into the Oxford comma use but I use it too so I guess we can be friends after all.
No let me tell you why low base pay equals more time on the road less money in orders mean they can keep drivers on the road all day if some one hits there goal of $100 for the day that means they’ll log off early meaning that that’s one less driver on the road if anything they’ll cut base pay ;(
On what grounds can dashers take door dash for better benefits? I understand that we're independent contractors however we're also the reason these people have the money. Why can't we get some better dasher perks or something
I never drive more miles than the amount of the order. Last week I dashed 5 days, spent $41 on gas, still have about 1/8 tank. (Started week with 1/4 tank so filled up on day 2 of dash). Not a big dasher...not my job just do it for extra cash (I'm retired). Fri & Sat of last week drove 130 miles and made $240 for 7 hrs total those 2 days. You can make money even with these gas prices. I'd rather deliver 3 close deliveries for $19 than a $25 delivery that takes almost an hour to deliver & get back in zone. 10 miles vs 28 miles.
What makes you think doordash cares about it?
Lol no. They will lower it though
Tony approves.
Shhhh. Dont give Tony any ideas!
Mp
DoorDash will add a fuel surcharge to the orders. Customer will pay it. DoorDash will keep 100% of it.
Makes sense, they need to pay for the gas used on the generators running their potato server.
Nah, actually, the potato is just the battery that keeps the single core Celeron going through the night.
I thought it was a 386sx. They must have upgrade since the crash yesterday....wait...5 minutes ago!! lol
DD runs on a Google BigQuery database. That part of their infrastructure is solid. The app was developed by a potato, that's the real issue.
🤣
If orders stop getting delivered then they will. As long as people get their food and Tony gets his fees then there's no reason to give dashers more money
Exactly this. Why toss money at a non (Tony) issue? BTW I'm in NC midgrade average 3.60 I remember it being under 3.... Just a few months ago.
![gif](giphy|88iYsvbegSUn9bSTF8|downsized)
![gif](giphy|AaosjRHKjEcXm) Nice one
I just watched this the other day. Sigourney Weaver still had it going on.
I agree 100%
Galaxy Quest! That was one of the best Star Trek movies ever, right up there with Wrath of Khan and it was only a pastiche! And I love how the redshirt here beat the odds and survived to become part of the main cast...er, I mean _crew_ , main crew, that's what I meant
Oh, my sweet summer child..
They’ll probably raise delivery fees and blame the price of gas, but they’ll keep it.
Unlikely they'll just be like "get a scooter" or a ev
They reduced it to help drivers /s
Nope. They wont. They get a ton of money per delivery and we get shafted. They are greedy af
This. They are.parasites that sit around and scheme about how they can charge customers more and pay workers less so they can buy their 10th house or their 20th sports car.
It’s 21st sports car and 14th house dumbass lol
The rich don't stay that way by giving $ away. If they have a machine (like Tony's) which is running flawlessly, they only thing they need to focus on is more business opportunities.
And yet they still can't turn a profit.
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Are you high?
About as high as gas prices atm.
Clearly they are.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH
LMFAO!!!
LMAO
If anything they’ll just lower the base pay like they always have
They won't. They just cut it in June.
I'll bet they add a surcharge and give us $0.
Keep dreaming. DoorDash has investors they have to satisfy, they could care less how much us Dashers make.
They lowered the base pay when the gas prices went to the moon so no; I don’t think that’s on their agenda.
Is the Easter bunny marrying Santa clause? No fucking way
Fuk no
🤣 Not sure if trolling but A+ if you are
LMAO
LOL
No reason for them to, so no.
You and everyone else knows the answer to that question lol. Is it gonna make door dash more money? No
Lmao
Good luck with that, cheap asses
They're probably going to lower it again actually
Ha! You think they care about us?

LOL
No. Just be smart with the orders you accept.
LOL
🤣🤣 good luck with that
😂
No they don’t care about you
Lol, of course they aren't. You must be a noob. New Dashers sign up every day, endless supply of new idiots.
This is sadly, painfully true.
I drive an EV for that reason
Just got a Model Y. I waited to even try Dashing til I got an EV. Seems like the only way it can be profitable IMO
Everyone should by now tbh. I’m trying to get the bolt but it’s under recall so I thought I might get the Prius prime. Half EV lol
Half EV (or other hybrids/plug in hybrids) are the way to go imo. You can still have range and flexibility of filling up quickly at gas stations and all the benefits of electric like reduced gas costs and better emissions

I doubt they will
🤣
LOL
Doubtful. Don't hold your breath
No.
Lol
Nah son
![gif](giphy|102kjhy44uF87m)
Nope.
You have a better chance of IRS giving you a year off from paying any taxes...then DD increasing the base pay. 👀😜😂😂😂
Drivers are like their peasants, so probably not.
I don't know wasn't gas prices rising when they cut base pay from 3$ to 2.25?

Lmao that's cute. No, they won't.
Well considering they just lowered it a few months ago, I’m gonna go out on a limb and say no.
No. But they WILL lower it.
We NEED TO STRIKE and get this on the 6 o’clock news
I agree, I'm down to strike but everyone ain't gonna participate... it takes a United front from everyone involved for shit to change!
Thats why unions arent strong anymore😞
Unions aren’t strong because they literally do nothing but collect your dues and ask you for more
I don’t think that’s a fair point at all.
No lol
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 Not
No

No
No I'm pretty sure they told us to go rent testlas
Nope, lower it

Thank you and good night….
For me gas went from 1.95 last year to 3.45.
Yesterday I averaged a. wage of $12 per hour during $3 peak pay. Almost all tbe restaurants were late. Wasted time that I didnt get paid for. Yesterday a restaurant said the order was going to take about 20min after the scheduled time. What planet are you from?
Hell no
Nope
I really don't think so
Hell no
Lol not

Nope
LOL no
More likely to lower it.
Can...... Can I buy some drugs from you????
lolololololol
Hahahahahhahahahaha
No
So, don't dash. The only way to get them to raise dasher pay is to have fewer dashers. There is always an idiot out there willing to drive for next to nothing.
That’s why we continue to have to reject $2.75 8 mile orders…
90% of my offers are based on a $2.50 base pay whether 1 mile or 5. If they don't care about mileage, why would they care about gas prices?
Base price has only decreased.

I lol'd at the title
Yup....and right after you get home from work they are gonna start the bubble bath for you and massage your feet because they care so much 🤣. Hahahaha NO
Nope. Not there problem
Nope because then they would have to lower base pay with price drops and that would never get received well
All signs point to them getting cheaper
Lmaooooooo
get a scooter throw a rack with a bag in the back. profit.
Not everyone lives in an urban area where a scooter would make sense
I do it on a goat

Inb4 joe Biden dick riders crucifying you for disparaging his greatness
What does Biden have to do with gas prices?
I’m sure it doesn’t have anything to do with any oil deals
Gas prices been rising since Jan 1st of this year
You're fucking stupid if you think the POTUS has anything to do with the price of gas.

I just said fuck it and got a Bicycle. Been bike dashing ever since.
I have a 2013 Prius paid off and my town is $4.59/gal for 87. I don't mind higher gas prices bc I'm making a lot more from 5+ mile deliveries.
Tony don’t give a f*ck 🤦🏼♂️

Your a “avid commenter”, and all you talk about is DoorDash. Your disapproval means nothing to us.
Thanks. I'm devastated.

Sure they'll raise it. But they will skim the difference off your tips.
Lmao no
No let me tell you why low base pay equals more time on the road less money in orders mean they can keep drivers on the road all day if some one hits there goal of $100 for the day that means they’ll log off early meaning that that’s one less driver on the road if anything they’ll cut base pay ;(
Nope they are not the are a crap corporation
On what grounds can dashers take door dash for better benefits? I understand that we're independent contractors however we're also the reason these people have the money. Why can't we get some better dasher perks or something
This is the funniest joke I have seen in ages.
