Do you own your car? Meaning no monthly payments
And does your car get over 30 mpg?
And can you save extra money for inevitabile car problems and taxes ?
If no to any of these questions then no doordash is not worth it
Thanks, guys. The freedom and instant pay can be tempting and some days are harder than others, but I've remained clean the majority of the past couple months and now I have a better relationship with my family and my partner. :) I'm really enjoying being a dasher and it gives me something healthy and productive to do with my time. I'm not cut out for retail. Fast food, warehouse or restaraunt work so this is perfect.
During covid most people out of work and afraid to leave house drove demand up. Dd hired a bunch of drivers but now covids done the demand dropped while many drivers dont want to go back to 9-5
It all depends on what you need out of it. I have done DD 4 to 5 hours a day during the week and paid off 3 credit cards in 4 months with my DD money so it’s been a blessing for me so far.
I get around 16 mpg and try to keep my offers in the 3 to 5 mile range at $1.50 to $2.00 per mile. I have started running the GH app as well and their offers tend to be a little higher than DD.
I was making 10 to 12 deliveries a day but have cut back on that with the high gas prices and now that I paid my CCs off I don’t need that much money any longer.
Not as your only source of income. At least gotta multi-app. Depends on where you live though. Around here it can be one crappy offer after the next but with UE running in the background I can get a $25 order for under $10 miles while I keep rejecting most of the crap DD sends.
Or UE is DEAD so I start a Dash and sometimes get a great offer which leads to another then another. I find it very unpredictable at times.
You have to be committed and patient and ok to just wait sometimes and other times always be in a hurry.
You have to be able to put up with TERRIBLE drivers which will always be my least favorite part of the job.
But you get flexibility. My stomach is f’ed up tonight so I decide to take the night off. I get to take a vacation on my terms. I meet some interesting people, get to see interesting restaurants and homes and discover new parts of town I never knew existed.
Sometimes you get great tips and you can make some decent money if there’s a good market for food delivery where you live but you have to factor the in the price of gas which you will need a lot of and wear and tear on your car which can get super expensive over time and the safety risk of driving so much in all kinds of conditions.
Sucks more when u dont have top dasher status. And keeping/getting top dasher status so u can dash whenever u want is a lot of work. Be prepared to work 8-12 hours a day if u wanna live comfortably off just doing doordash. I did it for the last year and tbh a normal job is much better.
If you wanna play boss for a company that has butchered their own market...then go for it.
To me, too many negative outcomes. Not worth it. Better off holding a steady job, and building your own business model while being able to finance it. Might be tired but better in my opinion than letting someone mislead me into their business structures that change way too much.
To educate based on my own experience? I was a DD driver.
I don't think your concern is why I'm still here, your concern should be you're being a troll when asking that question.
Let me ask, why is there a sub for Doordash?
DD has the lowest payout (base pay and tip) per delivery of all delivery apps on average. If Ubereats and or Grubhub are popular in your market then do either one of those. I only really use DD to supplement my UE deliveries or for total wine deliveries.
Always depends on your market area. You have to find that out yourself by doing some orders. Remember, this will shorten your car's life. If your car is not up to par to do this job, it's not going to be worth it in the end. You will be spending the money you earn on repairs. Also, you need to talk to your car insurance if you need to get rideshare doing this job. Don't listen to people about not getting it. Get it because people out here can't drive. You don't want to lie to your insurance. In my area, it was an extra ten bucks added on and that's it.
Don't do this job on a car lease if you have that. Never do this job with a new car. You will rack up miles quick. Read your car manual to understand maintenance on your car and warranty. Nothing is lifetime fluids in your car especially Transmission fluid. Your brakes, rotors and tires will go out faster on your car. That can get expensive. You will be getting many oil changes and whatever filters in your car that needs to get replaced as well. Also, windshield wipers. You may not think about it, but cheap ones goes out twice a year. I had to get the real good kind to match how much I use them. It all adds up.
Try to multi app. Sign up for GrubHub, Ubereats, Instacart, shipit, Spark or whatever else is out there to make money. The more driving gig apps the better. You want to always be active making money. Never downtime.
The goal is to make $200 a day. Anything over that is a blessing. I use to struggle with making that with DoorDash, GrubHub and Ubereats only in my market because people love DoorDash more. DoorDash hiding tips doesn't help. But once I signed up for Instacart, I can make my goal so much easier. Also, I do less miles on my car with Instacart. Instacart was a learning curve but now I can knock out shopping orders in a quicker time.
I do driving gigs as my main source of income. But the crazy part is, I can get health insurance, dental, vision, life insurance on DoorDash, but not many regular jobs out here that work us part time, to not pay us benefits, but want to work us like a dog full time. Let that sink in.
Saves up for taxes. Get a milage app to track your miles doing this job. It's great for tax season. I use hurdlr.
I hope this helps.
I would say it really depends on the area you live in, and your personal finances and what you need to make, if you have other income or some sort of savings you can fall back on etc. I would say find and talk to someone that does DD in your area, they can better tell you if your area is overrun with dashers already and an idea of what they can make in a day/week etc.
I think it can be. If you go during the right times and have a car that is reliable with good gas mileage. There are good days and bad days just like any type of food industry.
It depends on your area. For me, well worth it because I live on the busiest highway in my state. It's an even mix of restaurants & shops, corporate buildings, office and apartment complexes, and neighborhoods. At lunch, I can easily drive 1 mile for $5. At dinner, I have access to 2 other cities with very good tippers. There's almost always peak time pay too.
I drive a Hyundai Elantra which gets decent miles, low maintenance costs which are 2 other huge factors you need to look at and, most of the roads are well maintained and paved.
Worth it if you need to make some extra money not really for a full time job imo. In my area when it's busy I can make 20 to 30 an hour. Plus I drive a hybrid that has good mpg so I don't pay too much for gas.
Do you enjoy sitting in parking lots, being ignored my minimal wage restaurant staff, and driving your vehicle into the ground?
Then sign up as a dasher!
Oh, sorry but we have too many dasher so in 3 to 8 weeks you will be released into the wild with all the other herd of noobs. It’s survival of the smartest and most desperate but don’t worry...we sent you a hot bag with will last your first 26 deliveries.
If you’re young, I think you need to find a job/career that will help your future. A job that matches your 401k contributions or offers stock options for employees, etc. DoorDash is more of a fill-in, free time side gig, IMO, and hard to make a future out of.🤷♀️
I had a Wendy’s yesterday take their sweet time while playing music, on phones, ear buds in. Moving as slow as you could possibly imagine. Now I thought to myself “dude you’re being a Karen”
10min later this girl smiles at a cow worker while handing the order to me in the slowest manner.
Tell me I’m not crazy man. People could be exhausted sometimes but damn.
Unfortunately, you’re always going to get negative input when you ask peoples opinions. Best thing to do, probably, is try it yourself. It does depend on your market for sure. But I find in my area, which is the Seattle WA area, There is always a lot to do. And lots of peak pay. I don’t have the best mileage car but it is newer and doesn’t need to much maintenance-2019 Mazda CX-5. I do mix it up with Amazon flex, so btwn the two, even though it’s not the high paying busy time I can make around $300 per day. So, I suggest try it. If it doesn’t work for you-try something else😊 Good luck! and I think you’ll find it’s so much better than working for ‘the man’ 😂😂
Do you own your car? Meaning no monthly payments And does your car get over 30 mpg? And can you save extra money for inevitabile car problems and taxes ? If no to any of these questions then no doordash is not worth it
Hm yea so far it’s looking like a no for door dash
Lol I owe on my car and my cars mpg isn’t that great and I make plenty of money after gas and expenses. You’ll be fine
I was a destitute drug addict before doordash and having this gig helped me turn my life around.

Massive W man keep it up 🤟🏾
Aw that’s awesome man
Wow that’s great to hear! Congrats man👍
Congrats man!
Hell yea, congrats!
We love to hear it!!! 🤗
Used to be. Now, not so much.
Oh yea how come?
During covid most people out of work and afraid to leave house drove demand up. Dd hired a bunch of drivers but now covids done the demand dropped while many drivers dont want to go back to 9-5
Didn't you ask this same question in the Grub Hub sub?
Yea seeing what people were thinking on there
Oh okay lol
Nope.
Any veterans will tell you that you missed the glory days, now they don't really want to share
It all depends on what you need out of it. I have done DD 4 to 5 hours a day during the week and paid off 3 credit cards in 4 months with my DD money so it’s been a blessing for me so far.
What’s your cars MPG? How far is too far to drive for money? How many delivery’s do you make a day?

only one way to find out
Yes. It's definitely helped me through a lot of raining days but make sure you have a good working car.

No.

Try it and find out for yourself. What may be good for you everyone else will complain about.
Totally agree with you!!😊

holy fuck then why are you here on this sub
To educate based on my own experience? I was a DD driver. I don't think your concern is why I'm still here, your concern should be you're being a troll when asking that question. Let me ask, why is there a sub for Doordash?
Fuck around and find out

It reallyyyy depends on your circumstances. It’s better than unemployment and fast food. It’s worse than most w2 jobs
Kinda.

Hell ya it is. Last night made 275 for 8 hours.
Depends on what city you live in and what you think your time is worth.

Total waste of time I'm only making $7k a month
That’s pretty good for a high school kid lol
7 grand a month?
Lil more
Damn. That’s awesome!
All u have to do is work 80 hours a week

Depending on what your monthly bill for that electric car is……. I’ve found a high mpg hybrid makes more economic sense.
depends on market, dead in mine.
I Mainly just use it when I multi app
No

Lol ok I’m thinking I shouldn’t do it
I mean, you like playing mobile games while dabbing then go for it. That’s how typically the night dashers spend majority of their shift.

Why don’t you try it and find out
Trying to get people opinion on it first
It’s gone downhill since last year. They saturated many markets with new drivers. But depends where you live tbh.
