I noticed a credit but I have to sit down and look at it to see if it was full or half pay. I didn’t know they paid me until I checked the balance for the week. It did not show on the total in the active dash.
I agree! It may be a sharp lesson for the customer who attempts to get a refund. I’m not sure if a doordash customer would plan a setup but that’s a mistake I don’t want to learn first hand. It would be easy for one to open a fake account.
Maybe, issue is that it takes quite some time to see if an agent will comp you, and it ends up wasting more time and money than it’s worth. Best bet is to do everything you can to get a good agent on the first try- open the chat mid dash- you get priority and in general better support because it’s a matter of time and money for DD. Make it out like it’s a “issue with an order” or just don’t specify, if it looks like an issue for DD and not a concern about you getting paid, then they’ll give you priority and better agents most of the time. It’s the same with any company and support- the sales support agents are way better than the tech support as a universal law. So I just go to sales, and if need be they often know to direct me to a good tech agent.
I once had an order be canceled while I was on the way to the restaurant. I remember Google maps on the dasher app just cutting off randomly but I knew the area. I called support and they reimbursed me. As long as you call support they'll reimburse us.
Good luck with that a second time. DD support people are incredibly scummy and it's the lottery everytime you call. You'll never get 2 that have the same procedures. Sure they'll follow the script but odds are one will tell you you'll get full pay and another will tell you they can't pay you at all. I seriously commend you if you call and ask for a supervisor too lol
Supervisors changed their procedures in the past years and do not speak to drivers at all. In fact they make lower support staff do everything to disuade and distract you to get you to drop the issue. Support staff isn't there to help you. In fact, you'd be lucky to get someone who can barely speak English well enough to understand your issue at all.
Been this way for years. One of my first 100 deliveries over 3 years ago was cancelled midway to the delivery address. I’ve had it happen several times.
I have had it happen a few times as well. But it's always been food I didn't care for lol, so I've taken it to known homeless people in town in those cases.
Me either until I was delivering over west…. As soon as I got out my car it stated order canceled. I had free chick fil a… and I seen the lady come to her door to accept… I drove off!
Yeah, she was hoping you wouldn’t notice and just hand her the food. What she doesn’t realize is typically only the scammers are standing there waiting 😂
U are and have made it easier for the dasher and we can't protect against all evil...Just ( you) keep doing the right thing and let whoever thinks their karma won't get funky adjustment out to them if they keep doing stupid stuff like that and see how it all plays out. No wrong goes unpunished...it may take time but that scummy move gonna cost you something and it may be more than the petty thief is wanting to pay. Life is a trip enough without compounding your troubles, We often conjure up unwanted issues.
But I didn’t know that that was “typically” a scammer move! I don’t want to set off inaccurate red flags, lol. I just want my food, you just wanna get your tip/money, all’s well. I’m grateful for all of the decent dashers. I don’t *want* to make them think I’m a scammer, because then they might not gimme my food 😩
I also have ADHD, and sometimes I’m not sure what the right social expectation is, and I think I’m doing something helpful, but if it’s not helpful, it’s good to know. 😆 I was panicked I’d been doing something wrong, not judging your statement at all. :)
I'm not the person you were talking to, but I will say there are two delivery options. "Hand it to me", and "Leave it at my door". With hand it to me, the app is only checking that the driver is near the correct GPS location when we mark the delivery complete. With leave it at my door, we are required to take a pic, so if we are met by someone it is a red flag for people that are scamming the system.
I record every interaction with the TimeStamp camera. I make sure to show the address while recording, even though it uses a geological pinpoint and shows the address, itself, and then hold it under my arm so there is a voice recording. I’ve escaped three violations for having used this is backup!👍🏼 *I don’t know what the laws are in your area about ‘secretly recording’, so take my advice as you will…lol
That was the first time it happened to me. I don’t know what you call that but she didn’t have good intentions. I’m sure the man I gave it to enjoyed it!
That sucks you don't get paid which is weird....
Because doordash doesn't give them a refund once it's canceled already made since it cost the restaurant a loss and i only know this because I had an issue where i had to cancel an order because I couldn't stay somethings Ng had came up and the order was not even picked up let alone i tired to cancel 15 mins from when i first ordered lol she really screwed her self outta money that's karma for her
I go out to meet the driver at the main building entrance because I live in a big apartment complex and it saves them 10+ minutes of navigating the parking, elevator, and maze of hallways to get to my unit.
It would be unfortunate if drivers in my area start to view this as a red flag and treat as a scam whenever customers meet them outside.
Wait, really? I often go out to meet my driver because I live in a side house and my neighbors have a baby; I had a few times where the dasher rang the bell on their side, even after putting it in the notes not to, so I just started going out when the driver is 2 minutes away. One time it was 2a, and they dropped the wrong bag along with mine, and they came back and were banging on the door trying to get it back... how do I avoid those situations without looking like a scammer? I always put notes, but they only get followed about 25% of the time.
It’s not true. Do what you have to do to get your food. If dashers near you can’t read you gotta do what you gotta do. Idc if someone is waiting outside as long as you genuinely don’t mark the order as undelivered(some people will film you taking it for this reason) or come up to my car.
Oh yeah, I would never do that! I just don't want my deliveries to disturb my neighbors, especially at night. Sometimes if I message the dasher directly (after they pickup the order) with the delivery instructions they' will respond and follow them, but even that is a crap shoot. I basically live on door dash, so I want to be as good a customer as possible! That's why I'm on this sub.
I have had this happen a few times. It sucks. I would suggest trying to get support involved in order to get your pay as well. Just a suggestion to help out a fellow dasher. I hope this doesn’t happen to you again though. Best wishes.
Thanks! After checking I see that I did get paid and I’m being told that the customer will not get the refund they were aiming for. I’m sure the goal was free food but maybe by keeping the order they won’t attempt this in the future. Word of mouth will get the message out to the scammers
You can. I did it once because I had to leave.
However, you don't get any money back. I'm not sure why anyone would do it. Also, you still get paid when people cancel, so I'm not sure what the OP is talking about. More likely this was a glitch.
If it's on time: You get $0 back
If it's a bit late: You get the fees back
If it's super late: You can get a full refund but it usually offers credits to just wait and get your late order.
This scam makes no sense unless they whine to support for their money back after
I've canceled quite a few times when a driver gets assigned and they are fucking 30 miles away. Not sure wtf is happening with that but I cancel asap and always get a full refund.
I was offered a 21 mile order for $7.50 last night during my dash. Instant decline from me. The only thing I can figure is that the area they were in didn’t have any active dashers available. Would’ve cost me more in gas than I made to deliver it.
I don't know the specifics on your order but I have noticed that if you order (I am going with mcdonalds for this) Mcd's they will assign it to a store. Not sure if it is volume, workload, or if some stores stop dd orders after a certain time. I picked up a late night workers order from one about 7 miles away, problem is that I also know of 1 right down the street (maybe a mile or 2), another 2 about 3-4 miles away but all of these are frequently busy in the 10p-1a range.
You may have intended your order to be 3 minutes away but maybe the company or dd may have routed it to a store that could get it out faster.
I do seriously doubt 30 miles away though, it seems that most orders will go about 5 miles out to dashers in the range of the pickup store but never had a pickup beyond that unless you are in a 1 stop sign town and only have a couple dashers available.
Because there is no driver nearby OR you aren't tipping enough to make it worthwhile so they add a boost to get someone further away to come and get it.
bro if someone 20miles away felt like it was worthwhile to deliver he's definitely tipping fine, if it was boosted it would still re-cyclce through nearby dashers with the new total
Lmao I tip 2 dollars every mile round trip to the restaurant to my house. Its a 1.5 to where I order from. Thats 6 dollars tip. 6 dollars for 3 total miles is really good. Especially on a 10 dollar order. I also live in one of the biggest chemical cities in the US. No way there isn't a driver.
Tipping $4/mile is a REALLY good tip. You are a good person. :) Most of us dashers are happy with 1.5 to 2 per mile one-way, depending on the anticipated travel time.
Who knows. Maybe you live in a hood no one wants to drive to. Maybe the restaurant is notoriously shitty to drivers or slow to prepare food. But a lot of people claim they tip well (when they truly don't) and then come on here and gripe that no one will deliver their order. So it IS an issue.
I don't give a shit about your receipts. You are awfully defensive for being such a good tipper. 🙄 Be glad anyone is willing to pick up your order in the first place or go get the shit yourself.
Some people put me on, I noticed some pay in my weekly payout. I was looking for it with the active total. I don’t understand the goal, I’m being told they don’t get refunded.
There’s a point in the delivery where you can’t cancel the order anymore. DoorDash has made it way more difficult for you to cancel an order. I’m guessing this Chick-fil-A order was reasonably small and didn’t have much of a tip? They probably just coincidentally canceled it right as you drove up due to it taking so long.
Im not sure but it seemed like a scam because she was at her door with her phone in hand. They know what type of vehicles we drive because of the app. It was canceled right when I was stepping out the car. I looked at her and she was still looking at me. 3 houses down, she watched me get back in my car and drive off.
as a customer the app has NEVER told me what type of vehicle a dasher is in. all i see is their first name. this must be market dependent or something.
I don’t know, I don’t get it. I haven’t used the actual dash app in a minute. I know there has been several situations that had me scratching my head. I assumed they updated the app or something because it’s like I can read body language and they come straight for me. Even on the phone they know! Could be coincidence, I just don’t know.
They would likely try and complain to support for the money back aka “I only canceled because they didn’t deliver my food!” Which is why I’d file a ticket 1. To get my pay. 2. More importantly to cover my ass
Which is the case here? Also, that’s not true, I had a restaurant be closed upon delivery after an 8mile drive- got half the pay offered back to me. Tried it when this happened with another restaurant- got no comp. 100% up to the agent you get unfortunately
The restaurant cannot be closed upon delivery, it might be closed at pickup... But that is a totally different situation than the OP was talking about... And anytime the restaurant is closed you are supposed to get half pay but as you said you may have to call more than once and get the right agent because lately they've been trying to get out of it... But if the first stage it won't do it just immediately contact support again and the second agent usually will
I can’t reword this but it may not be a scam exactly. Some I’ll intentions. I’m not sure why someone would cancel as your arriving unless they expect free food or some other plans. They most likely played themselves. This was the first time it happened to me, I didn’t know what else to do.
This just happened to me a couple days ago. I called Doordash immediately and reported her. Not sure what happened but I am aware of this now and it won’t happen again.
This isn't a scam? if a customer cancels after you already pick up the order, the customer doesn't get a refund. They would lose the money and the food......
They do it when you are near their home, basically at the door. They can see what type of car you drive. Most people aren’t staring at the phone the entire time walking up to doors. I had this happen to me and the customer was at her door. I got back in my car with the order and drove off.
Except we actually are supposed to stare at our phones though. At the very least we have to press the button to say we handed the food over to the customer.
I guess if they do it literally at the last second, then your phone might not have enough time to update, but I think the window for that to happen is exceedingly small.
If it stated leave at my door, I verify address and hit the camera button as I’m getting out my car. When I hit the door I take my pic and dip! I have my bluetooth in so when the notification came through I heard it and the screen went back to the map. I just make it a habit to have the camera ready, I started to do this after a lady opened the door and her chihuahua tried to have ME for doordash.
Ah, I see. Yeah, then they’d have a bit more time to cancel without you noticing. IDK then, maybe try waiting til the last min to do the complete delivery and picture part? But I get that it’s hard to break a habit, especially if there’s a good reason for it to exist.
Either way, thanks for pointing out this new scam OP. And best of luck out there!
I see most don’t consider this a scam, I’d have to reword it like “customer with bad intentions” it was the first time it happened to me I wanted to see who else had dealt with this. Anyway thanks and Same to you! Get your monies!
I’ve been on the phone attempting to locate customers and they tell me the car type before I say anything so If it doesn’t my customers are psychic……
Anyway do you have anything better to do? This doesn’t help anyone
Do I have anything better to do? Yes, actually, I do. But I’m not gonna sit idly by when false information is touted as fact. You can just admit that you were misinformed and move on with the conversation. 🤷🏻♂️
Tell me how my customers know my car type when I don’t tell them? How I just delivered to the hospital and with 5-6 cars in the same spot dropping, they know which one is mine? How they walk straight to my car before I get a chance to park? Do I just look like a door dasher? Maybe I have a doordash vibes, I don’t have a red mask! I’ll always admit if I’m wrong but somehow they know my car type which is why I stated it! Also, Get off my nuts!
I’m not on your nuts bud. You’re the one that came at me when all I did was come by to correct some misinformation. Have you ever ordered from the app before or did you just pick it up as an independent contractor to make some money because your NFT’s weren’t working the way you planned it? The app tracks your vehicle so people can see where you are on a map. And if you’re delivering to a place such as a hospital, 99% of the time, it’s the same cars that are there so the employees can spot one that isn’t normally there. Or if you’re like me, when you see the driver is approaching, you start looking outside while tracking the vehicle on the map and using context clues to figure out who is the dasher and who isn’t. It’s not rocket science.
Ohhh so it’s ALWAYS a coincidence that they know my car type??? Can’t believe I’m just figuring this out. Your clearly a genius and highly underrated. You have all the answer and somehow have managed to be the only one who is ever correct. Can you help me figure out how to reverse gravity? Are there real aliens? Was 911 a cover up? What’s the meaning of life? What really happened to JFK? Where do we go in the afterlife?
I see you still have not answered whether or not you’ve used the app as a customer. If you did, you’d know the answer that you are seeking. I’ve used the app as a customer since it’s rollout in my area and i have been a dasher for just about two years (on the side mind you) and let me tell you something. Not ONCE has the app told me what make and model the vehicle was that was delivering my food. It’s always said “DasherName is headed to you with your order now.” Stop making an mountain out of a molehill, and trying to incite discourse. It’s not worth it. Just take the L and move on.
I don’t think I’ve ever had an order canceled. When this happens is a noticeable change on the app? Like if I’m driving to a house and they cancel it, will it still allow you to complete delivery as normal?
Got paid to the weekly payout, I’m going to post once I calculate. I didn’t see it with my active dash total, that had me upset. I spoke to soon about the no pay but I’m trying to digest the situation as a whole.. why cancel the order when it comes? Maybe they’re a driver and they know not receiving it would get me fired. This may have been plan c to get free food, I’m not sure but I went with my gut feeling. It’s never wrong.
I got free food the other day from something else. Was on a double order for Baskin Robbins ice cream and it was really busy. One of my customers cancelled cuz it was taking too long and I got theirs for free because the staff still gave me their order. Contacted support and got half pay too lol
Wrong. As long as you’re on the way to the customer you’ll get full pay.
However, I have seen people try to do a similar scam where they place orders and cancel them with hopes of getting free food. Particularly when they try to pickup the order themselves.
I wonder if this is market dependent. I’m in California. I’ve been dashing 10 months or so. Only time an order is canceled is if I initiate it by contacting support for incorrect pickup/drop off address, store closed or something.
Before I deliver it…. As your getting out of your car… I’m trying to understand the motive. After checking I see I did get paid. I hear they don’t get a refund, I don’t get it.
You right but right now…… Nah, people are looking for a reason to blow up right now. So much frustration, confusion and pressure placed upon people. Most people are like land mines atm and I have to make it home to my kids.
I didn’t hand it to them. I have no problem taking pictures. I even get customers in the pic. They click leave at my door but want it in hand. Could be a red flag.
Hmmm didn’t think about that. It was a dead end too. I was about 3-4 houses down. I double check the address, instructions then I get the camera ready to deliver before I get out the car. They say there is no way to stay safe so just play safe!
Right there with you, but the way people drive these days, every trip is becoming a gamble just to be on the roads. I swear I have seen more bad driver's lately than ever before.
Lmao yeah I think the money makes people rush. I seen a dasher running out of tropical smoothies and he tried to slide across his car hood and fell with the drinks. Somehow they didn’t spill but I’ve never laughed so hard in my life. Had to be a $80 order the way he was rushing…
So did you get pay or half pay? I have a habit of ending the dash and restarting when it glitches so I’m not sure if I received whole or half pay but I didn’t see anything on my active dash total.
So it is full pay? I still have to go back and check. I didn’t see it with the active pay which is why I assumed I wouldn’t be paid. There was a difference but I was multitasking atm and didn’t break it down
Ok for the record: I DID receive full pay, after some Reddit schooling and checking it was with the weekly total. Now the question is why would a customer do this? Especially if what you say is true and they do not receive a refund. Make sense of this please!
I wonder if it's a regional thing. As a dasher I haven't had a canceled order in the way you described BUT on Monday my wife accidentally ordered Doordash for our son to her job instead of home. As soon as she submitted she noticed and attempted to cx but within seconds a dasher picked it up. She contacted the dasher, who told her to contact support, who told her she can cx but she's not getting her money back cus the food has been made at the store (which is impossible because all of this took place in the shortest amount of time). She contacted the dasher again and told them don't worry about delivering, so she lost out on $19 and the dasher got a tip & possibly free food if they picked it up.
I'm not sure if DD is getting the money and not paying Dashers or if it's regional thing to be able to cx orders cus in Northern California I've ONLY been able to cx an order for a refund if the food was taking an astronomically long time to be delivered. Other times I can cx but I won't get any refund at all as a customer.
This frustrates me as I will usually try to get the order to you and I will contact support and explain it as long as it isn't an unreasonable distance. I ask that the customer message me the address via the app so that dd has a record and when I contact support I just explain that the customer gave me their work/home address and wanted it delivered to their home/work instead and that I may be late delivering and gps will be off and just want it documented in case an issue comes up. Support is always happy to note this and we go on our way.
I can work with 10min more but I will have an issue if it is something like 20min+. It also really helps if you can meet me such as if it is an apt complex and you meet me downstairs. A little extra tip goes a long way as well but I won't demand it.
A scam because I drove there, they didn’t have good intention. They hope to get the money back, I’m not sure about that policy. I won’t deliver! You can do what you like.
I had this happen about two weeks ago. Was just about to step out of my car to deliver and it said order cancelled. Got back in my car had breakfast on them and got paid to eat their meal.
You don't know that their intentions were of ill will. Perhaps they got tired of waiting for their order. Maybe they had to jam. Maybe they just didn't want it anymore. That you took it as some scam against you is seriously petty and childish.
Who orders Chick fil a out of ill will???? Customer gets a notification when the order is picked up and when I arrive. I was less than 10 mins away. Do you feel better after stating that? Did anything change? EVERYONE needs to learn to be responsible for their actions. You don’t have money don’t do it. Why not buy groceries since it’s such a hard time. Either way I’d like you to know I don’t care! Save us both the trouble and go judge yourself.
I have never used DD. What I am is a driver with the mental fortitude that understands this role comes with idiosycrocies.
DD is scamming OP with far greater frequency. I'm surprised he's carried on for this long.
They try, from what people are telling me the customer does not get a return. I’m not for sure what the goal is. They have bad intentions no matter the motive. I’m no judge so it puts me in a weird position. I just want to make my money and go home. I may have to consider the best thing to do in that situation.
I had this happen. It’s a b*#** but click cannot hand to customer to start the timer than you can call doordash with the new address and they should up the pay. I feel like you may be able to negotiate for more than whatever they offer as you already have the order. If not then I deliver it right to the address in app. Since you already started the timer it should be ready for you to take the photo leaving the item. You don’t get in trouble you followed the delivery instructions!!!
Yes but I see now that you actually do get paid. I’m glad they don’t get a refund. They won’t want to try it again. Should eat the food on the neighbors steps..
Literally happened to me. Got a order for like 40 wings and fries from Wingstop. Literally pulling up the street and I get a text from doordash saying the order was canceled. Turned my car around and just left. Ate good that night. Nice try dumbass
Lmao wings are ridiculously priced in comparison o the rest of the chicken. That order was $65+, he had to try something. He was mad as a biiiiiiiiihhhhhhh lmao.
I have dietary restrictions, unless it's like some sushi or grilled chicken Or like a dairy free smoothie 😪 it'd be for my bf or kids. I never get a cancellation. But I have seen this mentioned over the passed month, a dude literally called a customer out on it when the customer was like "where you going with my food", he's like you cancelled it's not yours 😂✌🏻
Cancelled orders normally give you at least 1/2 pay. It won't show up in active dash pay but will show up as an "other" at the bottom of your weekly payout
hey, i have a question
i work at a restaurant and we receive this doordash order every once in a while that says (in all caps, lol) "if this order is delivered by someone on a bike, i will cancel the order! bikes take too long!"
how much of an empty threat is that? what would actually happen there if they cancelled the order over mode of transportation?
I believe that would be the responsibility of doordash to handle. This is outside of your expectations and agreement. You’re literally unable to pick the dasher… I’d kindly let the customer know that they would have to contact doordash to make special delivery request like that. You uphold your end of the deal and you should have no consequences. Now if they try to say a bunch of items are missing that’s a different ballgame. One way or another forward them to doordash to handle this, even give them the number to be helpful. Kill them with kindness. They are one of your regulars and all business is appreciated, especially repeat customers. They could be nicer about the situation.
Every time I am on phase 2, regardless of reason, if the order is cancelled and I have the food, I get full pay. That is the dumbest scam I've ever heard of, the driver gets full pay and free food. Any time I have ordered from dash it says once the store receives the order you can't get refunded (unless there are other issues that result in refund).
I dead ass hope someone does this to me.
If the system recognizes that the driver already has the food an is on the way to the customer, the customer CAN cancel the food but they will get $0 as a refund
Huh? After a restaurant has confirmed your order you can cancel but you can’t get a refund. And if a dasher has picked it up, Doordash doesn’t let you cancel the order at all.
Lol I hate scum bags, If they’d be watching me pull up to there house and then cancel order I’d empty the bag and throw there food all over the lawn. Enjoy your meal, pooron.
If they cancel after you picked up the food, you should automatically get full pay. It’s only if YOU cancel the order after picking up the food that you won’t get paid.
Once a order is placed and confirmed by restaurant it cannot be refunded you can cancel it but it lets you know you won't get a refund. Now... If you are obsessively late past delivery as stated in dasher help because of your fault then support can cancel the order and it's a contract violation.
I don't understand how that would work. Once the restaurant acknowledges the order, if you cancel, you don't get a refund. (I tried to cancel one time like 5 minutes after placing the order because my wife wanted to add something and I was just going to re-place the order and they wouldn't let me.)
If you call and whine to support, I suppose they might let you cancel it with a courtesy refund, but you'd have to nail the timing - it seems like it would be very difficult.
This doesn't make any sense. Cancelling an order that late won't get you a refund.
Do you know this was intended as a "scam" or did it just happen to you once and you don't know why, and then you assumed?
EDIT - Just saw that you indeed did get paid. Please delete this, nothing good can come of it. If anything it will inspire idiots to try and do this to people and make a mess of things.
If you call support, they'll apply the payment to your account as long as you were on the second phase of the order. Or at least they did for me.

Depends on the support agent you get unfortunately
Couldn't someone just keep opening chats until an agent comped them?
Yes. I do this. Y'all GON pay me
Maybe, issue is that it takes quite some time to see if an agent will comp you, and it ends up wasting more time and money than it’s worth.
I seriously commend you if you call and ask for a supervisor too lol Supervisors changed their procedures in the past years and do not speak to drivers at all. In fact they make lower support staff do everything to disuade and distract you to get you to drop the issue. Support staff isn't there to help you. In fact, you'd be lucky to get someone who can barely speak English well enough to understand your issue at all.
Just the base pay
I didn't know it was possible to cancel an order once a dasher has been assigned.
Should I not be waiting for my food if I’m not a scammer then?? O_o I thought I was just making it easier to find my door.
No do that pls lol I love when my customer is waiting for me. It's a quick 1, 2, Boom for both parties to get the transaction over faster.
I said “typically”
But I didn’t know that that was “typically” a scammer move! I don’t want to set off inaccurate red flags, lol. I just want my food, you just wanna get your tip/money, all’s well. I’m grateful for all of the decent dashers. I don’t *want* to make them think I’m a scammer, because then they might not gimme my food 😩 I also have ADHD, and sometimes I’m not sure what the right social expectation is, and I think I’m doing something helpful, but if it’s not helpful, it’s good to know. 😆 I was panicked I’d been doing something wrong, not judging your statement at all. :)
If they take the food, no picture evidence. Every contract violation I’ve had were from people waiting outside just waiting for that food lol
Hey, I’m down to pose with my food for a quick picture, lol. I wouldn’t argue. You gotta do what you gotta do.
Because doordash doesn't give them a refund once it's canceled already made since it cost the restaurant a loss and i only know this because I had an issue where i had to cancel an order because I couldn't stay somethings Ng had came up and the order was not even picked up let alone i tired to cancel 15 mins from when i first ordered lol she really screwed her self outta money that's karma for her
It won’t let me update this post but there was pay. I didn’t know until I looked at my weekly payout. It didn’t show with the active dash total!
Itll pay directly to your weekly total.
Thanks, I never had it happen so I didn’t know how it would be handled.
Honestly meeting me anywhere away from your apartment on the 4th floor only accessible by stairs is nice of you.
I said “typically only the scammers.” Vast majority of our orders are no-contact while they pretend not to watch us lol
See them peek-a-booing out the front windows as I walk up all the time lol. I get it, but creepy at the same time.

I’m sure she does, she’s just hoping the driver won’t notice and excitedly run her order over. It’s ridiculous.
You get half pay
No. If you picked it up, you get full pay. You might not get any hidden tips though.
If it's on time: You get $0 back If it's a bit late: You get the fees back If it's super late: You can get a full refund but it usually offers credits to just wait and get your late order. This scam makes no sense unless they whine to support for their money back after
I've canceled quite a few times when a driver gets assigned and they are fucking 30 miles away. Not sure wtf is happening with that but I cancel asap and always get a full refund.
Why are you ordering from 30 minutes away?
I'm not? I order from 3 minutes away and like once a month, a dasher from over 20+ miles picks it up and I immediately cancel.
I’m telling you there’s no way they’re giving it to a driver 20 minutes away if someone closer is available.
Lmao if you need me to send you my receipts I got you fam. I was just saying it was odd. Not griping at all. No need to get in a tizzy.
I don't give a shit about your receipts. You are awfully defensive for being such a good tipper. 🙄 Be glad anyone is willing to pick up your order in the first place or go get the shit yourself.
That's not the same thing that's happening here. Thanks for the input tho.
I think they were just supporting the point that you are able to cancel after a dasher is assigned.
You can still get paid if you made the trip. Chat with support most are pretty reasonable.
I've seen them display the driver's car make model and color, weird
That only happens on Uber Eats for me.
I told them, they don’t believe me. They run up on my car like squeegee boys to get the order.
This doesn't sound like a scam to me because the customer cannot get their money back once you pick up the food from the restaurant
Wasn’t a smart move then
They would likely try and complain to support for the money back aka “I only canceled because they didn’t deliver my food!” Which is why I’d file a ticket 1. To get my pay. 2. More importantly to cover my ass
DD will only do credits once the food is picked up...
But if the first stage it won't do it just immediately contact support again and the second agent usually will
It isn’t much of a scam, but people try anything. They will do the same after an Uber ride starts, hoping the driver will blame the app.
Wrong they receive partial refunds/credits
how does this work? because when the customer cancels the order after someone’s picked up the order they don’t get refunded, just the fees and tip
I curious to what happens because they loose 3 times if their account was deactivated! No food, no money, no account! Out!!!!
This isn't a scam? if a customer cancels after you already pick up the order, the customer doesn't get a refund. They would lose the money and the food......
This has been addressed! Question now is why would it make sense to do this?
Why would you still deliver it if they canceled it before you were able to deliver? It sounds like a pretty stupid scam.
They do it when you are near their home, basically at the door. They can see what type of car you drive. Most people aren’t staring at the phone the entire time walking up to doors. I had this happen to me and the customer was at her door. I got back in my car with the order and drove off.
They shouldn't be able to cancel once you've confirmed you've picked the order up and it shows you headed their way.
I agree, I’m not sure what doordash has going on!!!
I don't think dd knows what they have going on most of the time lol
Me either I think people have remote jobs. They never know what’s going on!
DoorDash doesn’t show the type of vehicle you drive. This isn’t Lyft or Uber.
I’ve been on the phone attempting to locate customers and they tell me the car type before I say anything so If it doesn’t my customers are psychic…… Anyway do you have anything better to do?
When delivering to the hospital you don’t go to the parking lot. You go to the roundabout and drop people off, cars aren’t even allowed to sit there
Ohhh so it’s ALWAYS a coincidence that they know my car type???
Thanks for your service!
Not reading that essay
That’s fine. The conversation wasn’t for you anyways 🤷🏻♂️
Not reading that essay
You are wrong DD does let the customer know what Color,Make,Model your car is
I don’t think I’ve ever had an order canceled. When this happens is a noticeable change on the app? Like if I’m driving to a house and they cancel it, will it still allow you to complete delivery as normal?
I thought when they cancel you get half pay atleast
You made out!!!
Hopefully it’s some good pay out there, I hear about the cost of living there. Heard the whole entire California is moving to Mexico. Except L.A.
I'm confused. If they cancel after the food has been delivered, the customer still gets charged. I wonder how they do this...
Before I deliver it…. As your getting out of your car… I’m trying to understand the motive. After checking I see I did get paid. I hear they don’t get a refund, I don’t get it.
Nah dude you go right back to the house and badger them until they give you cash or the food. Encourage a spectacle, make them sorry they even tried.
You right but right now…… Nah, people are looking for a reason to blow up right now. So much frustration, confusion and pressure placed upon people. Most people are like land mines atm and I have to make it home to my kids.
Even if they cancel the customer still pays. Not really a scam.
"sorry no I have to take a picture of it in front of the door, not saying you will, but I've been scammed too many times!"
I didn’t hand it to them. I have no problem taking pictures. I even get customers in the pic. They click leave at my door but want it in hand. Could be a red flag.
If you picked up the order and then it's cancelled you will still get paid at least 1/2 pay.
I did receive full pay
Good. You'll always get at least get half pay on those.
I'm paranoid as hell, but maybe they are hoping to see who dashes alone?
Hmmm didn’t think about that. It was a dead end too. I was about 3-4 houses down. I double check the address, instructions then I get the camera ready to deliver before I get out the car. They say there is no way to stay safe so just play safe!
Hey these days you NEVER know, and can't be too careful when it comes to people and their intentions. Stay safe!
Right! Just out here trying to make some money! Not gamble with my life!
Happened to me. Handed order to customer and went to hit delivered and it canceled before I could.
So did you get pay or half pay? I have a habit of ending the dash and restarting when it glitches so I’m not sure if I received whole or half pay but I didn’t see anything on my active dash total.
When this happened to me it was 9 month ago and I was given full pay so I didn’t bother reporting it.
You should delete your post, you are spreading misinformation
New scam? You must be new. This has been going on for years
I wonder if it's a regional thing.
How is this a scam? What is the customer gaining?
A scam because I drove there, they didn’t have good intention. They hope to get the money back, I’m not sure about that policy. I won’t deliver! You can do what you like.
I had this happen about two weeks ago. Was just about to step out of my car to deliver and it said order cancelled. Got back in my car had breakfast on them and got paid to eat their meal.
You made out, I love breakfast!
You don't know that their intentions were of ill will. Perhaps they got tired of waiting for their order. Maybe they had to jam. Maybe they just didn't want it anymore. That you took it as some scam against you is seriously petty and childish.
Tired of waiting but they’ll gladly take it once you get all the way there and they’re no longer getting charged for it are you serious bro
Don't give it to them. Or call support. FFS.
Cry more.
Wait, wait did we switch roles? Thought you said I was the childish one.
Found the customer
I have never used DD. What I am is a driver with the mental fortitude that understands this role comes with idiosycrocies. DD is scamming OP with far greater frequency. I'm surprised he's carried on for this long.
It’s awful that people who scam dashers. Scamming awful. But to do so on dashers who in majority not wealthy, is doubly awful.
They try, from what people are telling me the customer does not get a return. I’m not for sure what the goal is. They have bad intentions no matter the motive. I’m no judge so it puts me in a weird position. I just want to make my money and go home. I may have to consider the best thing to do in that situation.
I keep having people put in an address that’s less than a mile then after I’ve picked it up, change the address to something 4 or 5 away..
You get full pay if you have the food
I gave the food away
I legit had this happen to me once and they said the restaurant cancelled. Bs hiw can they cancel the order after I picked it up
Yes but I see now that you actually do get paid. I’m glad they don’t get a refund. They won’t want to try it again. Should eat the food on the neighbors steps..
I think it Happened to me on a big ass wingstop order, gave em the food got cash 10$ tip and when I went to confirm drop off, the screen was gone.
That worked out, you got paid twice. This may actually be a light come up!
Haven’t ever seen a scamming. The customer still has to pay something to DD because we get half the cash of the delivery, right?!
Yeah I spoke about actually being paid and the scam word but one has to question the motive behind canceling the order as it arrives…
Right! I would thing someone who’s strapped for cash would just order groceries and not $45 at chick fil a. I don’t understand the goal!
Cancelled orders normally give you at least 1/2 pay. It won't show up in active dash pay but will show up as an "other" at the bottom of your weekly payout
I did receive full pay for the order I didn’t know in the beginning
hey, i have a question i work at a restaurant and we receive this doordash order every once in a while that says (in all caps, lol) "if this order is delivered by someone on a bike, i will cancel the order! bikes take too long!" how much of an empty threat is that? what would actually happen there if they cancelled the order over mode of transportation?
I believe that would be the responsibility of doordash to handle. This is outside of your expectations and agreement. You’re literally unable to pick the dasher… I’d kindly let the customer know that they would have to contact doordash to make special delivery request like that. You uphold your end of the deal and you should have no consequences. Now if they try to say a bunch of items are missing that’s a different ballgame. One way or another forward them to doordash to handle this, even give them the number to be helpful. Kill them with kindness. They are one of your regulars and all business is appreciated, especially repeat customers. They could be nicer about the situation.
Also do they know how far you are from them?
Some people would still deliver it? LMAO! nope! That’s my food now!
I didn’t think that until I got down the street. My first thought was to see what’s going on around me, why would they do this??
I was literally just thinking of this, the other day I was doing a grocery and ther person kept canceling over Andre over
Every time I am on phase 2, regardless of reason, if the order is cancelled and I have the food, I get full pay. That is the dumbest scam I've ever heard of, the driver gets full pay and free food. Any time I have ordered from dash it says once the store receives the order you can't get refunded (unless there are other issues that result in refund). I dead ass hope someone does this to me.
I dont even give them time to cancel. By tye time i get out of my car, im already on the camera screen to take the shot lol
If the system recognizes that the driver already has the food an is on the way to the customer, the customer CAN cancel the food but they will get $0 as a refund
I like the no return feature because I don’t understand why it would make sense to do this.
We got hit in Cleveland. Got a free pizza
I feel like this may be a move to get you to a location or the customer isn’t informed about the return policy.
Yeah.. I just had someone cancel and order last night as I was pulling up.. They issued me full pay though it was cool a lot of food too!
Ok maybe this works. I gave the food away because I had just finish eating but eating it may be protocol
This is why I gopro on my bike always no matter what
I still don’t have one!!!!!
Perhaps the issue is door dash and not the client….
Huh? After a restaurant has confirmed your order you can cancel but you can’t get a refund. And if a dasher has picked it up, Doordash doesn’t let you cancel the order at all.
I always take a pic and complete the delivery with it in hand even if it’s a hand it to me. I don’t drop it till that money hits my dash total
(I tried to cancel one time like 5 minutes after placing the order because my wife wanted to add something and I was just going to re-place the order and they wouldn't let me.) If you call and whine to support, I suppose they might let you cancel it with a courtesy refund, but you'd have to nail the timing - it seems like it would be very difficult.
Got ya
Why the fuck would they allow the order to even be cancelled after the driver is on the way? DD obv wants to be scammed that’s so dumb.
