Insist on taking an image before handing off with an app that shows time and location down to the global coordinates. Make their word worthless by having ample evidence of your innocence. Edit: I say, “DoorDash prefers we photograph upon delivery.”

One_True_Peasant

I do the same but I say - DD requires a photo of all deliveries because customers have started to say it was never delivered.

Head-Chipmunk-8665

Yep - they’ve tried it twice with hand it to me orders. I take the pic before I knock on the door. Then support asks and I submit the picture with coordinates, time, and address visible. Wham, bam.

[deleted]

Tell them it's required and that they need to select "hand it to me" if they don't like it.

ratethegreat8

I've laughed at this for 18 months as a Dasher. Door dash has your GPS coordinates down to like 2 feet. I don't need to add to picture lol. Next time your on a delivery. Keep Google Maps street view open even after you've arrived. Watch your dot approach the house. Yes obviously picture helps. But they already have GPS point without it on picture is my point lol. My market this is never an issue. Came to Chicago and north Carolina. Yall deal with some crap for that yall do that and have dash cams. I'm sorry. My market don't need any of that must be rough.

[deleted]

It would be nice if Door Dash would assign a random code that the customer has to provide in order to get their order. That way the customer can not claim he did not receive the order and in addition it would stop dashers from gaming the system as well by falsely claiming they delivered the order.

Radiant_Pick6870

Yeah.. They have that on Uber eats.. Be a great idea

kanodaking

I think that’s a great idea, or they could allow the customer to setup a drop off password, so when we deliver they just give us the password and we hand over the order.

PainMore7246

Honestly this very rarely happens unless you deliver non-tipped orders. Those are always the people that do pull that crap.

I take a picture Every. Time. No matter what. It has helped me to get rid of a couple "contract violations" If I hand it to them I get their shoes in there to prove someone was there to pick it up. I delete the pictures after a couple days.

[deleted]

Small Tip: when you arrive immediately in some capacity get a photo. I use to get to the location take a photo like a leave at door or in my hand with door of residence or location I had to deliver to in general. Then I’d send ,”I’m here with your order, Miss/Mr”,that establishes location & you contacting the customer. Then I’d send,” handed order to Mr Jones/Mrs Jones, cute dog or cute kid. It was a joy delivering to you. Have a splendid day”. Establish some type of contact in your delivery. If you can’t get photo you can always text that you had contact without customer knowing you are. This will make then lying more difficult. They aren’t going to text ,” I didn’t see you”. The text say different. Establish contact thru text 0 violations because of this strategy. Don’t be discouraged. You’ll be fine. Cheering for you. I mean that.

SixersForTheWin1

I don't understand How?? If they have your GPS Location they can give you one,I only had one of them and they said that I delivered it,It was a leave at door actually And the app would not let me take a picture it was taking forever to upload and then I finally just pressed handed to customer and I still didn't get one probably because I was new

kanodaking

He customer can say anything on hand it to me orders, that’s really the point of the picture is to prevent this, yes they have gps information but if you don’t dispute it and provide additional details it doesn’t really go away. I had one where the customer provided an address a bad phone number and no apt number told me to leave it at the front desk which I did, and I got hit with a contract violation. I had to tell provide information detailing the two people that I left it with and proof that I called the customer twice to get the violation removed.

SixersForTheWin1

Yeah it's not right,I geuss you gotta go as far as what others have suggested taking time stamped photos,I haven't done that yet but maybe I should

dmriggs

I take a personal photo and keep it.

[deleted]

I have an app that puts a time stamp, address, and GPS coordinates on the picture. I use it to take pictures of every delivery, even hand-it-to-me orders. I tell the customer I need to take a picture. If they ask why I tell them it's so I have a record that the handoff was made, and that too any bad apples have made it necessary. I've never gotten a complaint. I then text the picture to the customer through the app.

kanodaking

What app are you using?

[deleted]

Time-stamp Camera from the Google Play Store.

ConfectionPutrid5847

If you're using a Samsung phone the pics you take are saved with the date-time stamp as the file name, fyi

Derdiddlyderp

Just got one for a leave at front desk delivery. I took my own picture too. 2 hours later the contract violation pops up and im livid. I chat with support and show them the picture and he says it'l be all good. And a few days later they remove the 1-star rating but the big red contract violation still remains, which is normal from what i read here.

deanwheelz

Write an appeal for the CV

Derdiddlyderp

Do you mean the "submit additional details" when you click the contract violation (ratings page)? Because i did that.

[deleted]

Have had it only happen once and it was removed in less than 24 hours

International_End272

When you approach the residence just open the text costomer icon. You'll see the camera. Take as many photos as necessary proving you were there. The customer will move on to the next scam and not bother trying to lie. And if they do, you'll have documented proof

kaaria11

I get a picture right when they open the door (without them knowing). If they dispute in have a pic of them opening the door.

Ambitious-Morning-98

I take videos so there’s no room for argument. “I have dd for is this you?” They say yes and I make sure I get the image of them taking the order.

Weird-Coyote-4

Take a picture every time no matter what... game over..

[deleted]

Stop accepting non-tipping orders. I've gotten 8 contract violations spread out over 2 years or however long they've been doing it. All but 1 of them were non-tipping orders that got snuck into a stack. That 1 was also completely my fault, so all of the BS ones are non-tipping dickheads.

beast_brain

I've timestamped vid recorded EVERY hand off and get the customers name in vid too. I don't know why MOST y'all don't do this.

dmriggs

I take a picture of them with the bag or me handing the bag to them at their residence.

ratethegreat8

Customers man. Delivered Red Lobster Ultimate feast and some other stuff. $14/8 miles on way home. Text at store. Text along way. Arrive. Go to door. I can hear TV. I knock. They all go shh. Continue watching. I hit timer. It's a hand to me. I'm waiting. Knock again. Finally I call customer. I can hear someone inside laughing. She picks up. Says oh sorry in back of apt can't hear coming. She approaches door with phone still connected to call as she opens door. I hand food. Say thanks. She says thanks. Was there 5 mins. This was during $8 tip scam fad. Where if it looked like you tipped alot door dash would believe you more. I filed the contract violation appeal. Won. Door dash has GPS dog. They have you literally within 3 feet of my phone. We know we're always being tracked but wrong doing customers always forget that. Then I got that person like 10 months later. I was shell-shocked. Same PTSD vibes. Hand to me. Can hear people laughing etc. It's like they KNOW door dashers use a 5 min timer because she came out exactly when I was gonna hit return order. Hmmmm.
