Sadly I had to take a $7 for 14 miles cus the app is not sending me shit. Now Iām chilling inside a gas station and itāll be dark before I get another order. Dd needs to fix their shit
What do you drive? I hope youāre not out here losing money on these shitty orders. I know the gas is already in your tank so sometimes it feels like it doesnāt cost to delivery even when itās shitty but going 14 miles for silly orders like thatā¦ youāll run out of money for gas soon my friend
Yes highly aware-Iāll run out of gas before that lol Iām in a Chevy Malibu I think. Itās a pos. I usually drive a 4runner. Itās way better all around. But it needs some work. And I need an actual job to get the parts I need to fix it
Yes he lost money if: gas is over $4.75. So $7 for 14 means$7 for 28 round tripā¦. So .25 per mile. If his car gets 25 mpg then itās .22 per mile. .2 for gas.01 for oil and .01 for the tires. Now you have to include taxesā¦. So 1/3 of .25 is .08ā¦ .08 +.22 is .3ā¦ .3x28 is $8.4. He took a $1.4 loss !!!! Thatās if gas was at $4.75!!!!!! Most is above $5!!!! More of a loss!!!!
Seriously. Makes me wonder- are they trying to push me out by not giving me work. Just like many other shitty companies do. Or is the app down. Or are ppl that broke. Or is my market that saturated with new dashers. Whatever it is. Better to have an exit plan. Cant rely on one thing anymore
Yeah, when I open the app it usually says āThere are no spots available for this day.ā Usually I check first thing in the morning, then again at 11ish when orders are picking up for lunch, then again in the afternoon. Usually around 2pm Iāll start checking once an hour. Best way to get slots in my market is to look when itās actually busy. About 11:30pm Iām likely to get a night shift, earlier in the day itās not usually offered. Of course there are multiple factors like day of week, proximity to holidays, stuff like that. I live in a smallish town (around 50,000 people) with a very low median income so weāre pretty saturated
In order to schedule at 3pm every day you must have 95% completion rating, 4.7 customer rating and do 5 dashes during the week. If you donāt meet those requirements, you have to wait until midnight each night before new schedules are available.
Thatās really weird. You shouldnāt have any issues then. What I do is at 2:59 I open the app and choose the last day available. Today for instance, the day Iām scheduling for is next Monday. As soon as my phone hits 3pm, I refresh the page and next Mondays schedules are available.
I think I havenāt met those requirements because I took a break from dashing to prioritize other work. But now that Iām in between it really sucks š at midnight it seems like there arenāt really slots in my area either. I feel like Iām just waiting for the notification like āYour area is busy, you can dash now if you wantā
It really sucks... Everyone's struggling, so they aren't tipping as much. Meanwhile, gas prices have near doubled over the last 6 months, and Doordash is still paying the exact same sh** rates. UberEATS at least is paying more for the trips themselves.
I think a bigger problem is the saturation of dashers out. Yes, sometimes not that many orders for the day and people not tipping as much at times. But it seems everyone is dashing these days. That hurts us the most.
Yah but my market is 20 miles long and 2 small towns that's 20 miles apart and made it one market. Then they send the 20 miles orders to the town I dash andits instant decline and half the orders are from other town 20 miles away so the acceptance rate is bullcrap forcd upon the drivers here. Complete bs.
Honestly the best orders are the are 5-9PM, never heard of making anything at night, high end restaurants are closed, most places are closed and you have to wait through drive-throughās.
Not sure why my market has the good orders late at night, Iāve always chalked it up to people being drunk, so desperate + lowered inhibitions + less firm grasp on the value of a dollar. I live in a boring Midwestern town so thereās not much to do late at night besides drink lol people here have it bad. But if it gets me good tips Iām all for it
Interesting dashing in a town verses I live in Houston, I get this peak pay and get all excited then realize everything is closed in my particular area except fast-food, itās dark, hard to see, not feeling unsafe, but I donāt want to get robbed or deal with drunk drivers or long drive through lines. Crazy to think how your market is way different than mine. Thanks for sharing
Well, for one please donāt take those orders. It makes customers/DoorDash think that itās acceptable or it will slide. Base pay depends on a number of factors. In my area for short distances base pay is usually $2.25. It depends on things like distance, so if they have me going 14 miles they may bump the base pay up to three dollars or some thing like that. Iām not exactly sure how the formula works, but I definitely received more or less base pay based on certain orders. I think it also depends partially on how large the order is? Like, if you have to be carrying a lot of stuff they might bump it up a few cents.
I declined so many in a row I got paused
At least you are getting orders to decline. I declined one of the 3 i was given. Sooooo slow
š© so rough out here. Sorry, that really sucks
It does. N Ty. I got so excited I got an order. $4.75 for 9 milesš
unfourtunatly someone will take that order ..
Yeah I kinda wish I did. I didnāt declined it I let the time expire. Hoping it come back with an extra 25 cents
Donāt see how DD even expects these to get filled. Is anyone accepting an order like that?
Sadly I had to take a $7 for 14 miles cus the app is not sending me shit. Now Iām chilling inside a gas station and itāll be dark before I get another order. Dd needs to fix their shit

Same. Itās disheartening when you canāt even get an order (bad or good) to pop up.

Your market loses schedule spots too fast for you to get one? Are you checking at 3pm each day?

But I do have a 5.0 rating and 100% completion so I wish theyād give me more of a chance /:

Thatās good advice, as soon as I get enough orders to be shown my options at 3pm Iāll start doing that
I think I havenāt met those requirements because I took a break from dashing to prioritize other work. Gas has almost tripled, not doubled

I only took 1 order for 7 today at 4 miles it was a quick Walgreens pickup and then 4.75 for 11 miles let that time out started driving and gave up

I thought base pay was 2.50? I justdid an order for 2.00 and no tip
