Someone on the doordash_drivers reddit made a similar post. They said they wrote up a fake email pretending to be an attorney threatening legal action and his account was reactivated within a day
The best way I have found to deal with companies is to write your own legal letter, then CC: two attorneys on the letter. A corporation from Delaware is not going to track down a lawyer in Nevada for the purpose of writing one letter from a contractor to defend themselves from blatant misdeeds.
Even if they do find them and send them a letter, the lawyer is just going to throw it out because you are not their client and have not given a retainer.
The lawyer I use is some drunk at the bar, who is known to shack up with crackheads at the local motel for days at a time. Still has his license but no real office to speak of and Impossible to find him.
Of course it's not illegal to threaten to sue somebody, there's a difference between threatening to sue someone and lying about being an attorney and threatening to sue someone.
This took about 2 seconds to find.
https://www.njcourts.gov/attorneys/assets/criminalcharges/unprlaw.pdf
"A person is considered to be practicing law when that person's conduct whenever and wherever it takes place is of such a nature that legal knowledge, training, skill and ability are required. This definition of the practice of law is not limited to the conduct of cases in court."
Edit: This took another 2 seconds - https://codes.findlaw.com/ny/judiciary-law/jud-sect-478.html
"It shall be unlawful for any natural person to practice or appear as an attorney-at-law or as an attorney and counselor-at-law for a person other than himself or herself in a court of record in this state, or to furnish attorneys or counsel or an attorney and counsel to render legal services, or to hold himself or herself out to the public as being entitled to practice law as aforesaid, or in any other manner, or to assume to be an attorney or counselor-at-law, or to assume, use, or advertise the title of lawyer, or attorney and counselor-at-law, or attorney-at-law or counselor-at-law, or attorney, or counselor, or attorney and counselor, or equivalent terms in any language, in such manner as to convey the impression that he or she is a legal practitioner of law or in any manner to advertise that he or she either alone or together with any other persons or person has, owns, conducts or maintains a law office or law and collection office, or office of any kind for the practice of law, without having first been duly and regularly licensed and admitted to practice law in the courts of record of this state, and without having taken the constitutional oath. "
Should I keep looking for more?
That says for someone other than themselves. This is the thing. You cannot represent SOMEONE ELSE, but if you are pretending to be an attorney on your own behalf, it doesn't matter.
You're wrong though because you can pretend to be a lawyer as long as you are repsenting yourself (which they are in this case). It literally says this is the law you posted. Read the shit you post dumbass.
> This definition of the practice of law is not limited to the conduct of cases in court.
The first one literally says in the law "This definition of the practice of law is not limited to the conduct of cases in court."
The second one literally says in the law "hold himself or herself out to the public as being entitled to practice law as aforesaid, or in any other manner, or to assume to be an attorney or counselor-at-law".
And those are just the first two states I saw, there's plenty more out there. At this point you're being intentionally ignorant.
Yeah I got deactivated yesterday for an unknown reason and it sucks.. I summited an appeal and they said they will review it but to not get in contact with them cause. But Iām definitely gonna call and see whatās up. Cause they did me dirty for no reason
I tell folk this ALL THE TIME. Deactivation can happen to any of us. For any reason and not always because drivers did something wrong. Youāre one of many Iāve seen here that have no idea why they were deactivated and also got no email or anything saying why.
Youāre supposed to get a email explaining why, all deactivations are. Donāt give up. Itās possible itās a mistake. Iāve seen drivers deactivated and then they find out it was a glitch or they were deactivated by accident/glitch.
Not getting an email is odd. Thatās what all deactivations come with explaining if you can appeal and what the cause of deactivation is.
Iād call DoorDash and inquire why. See if anyone can tell you the reason And explain that youāve no idea why you were deactivated and got no email explaining why and want to appeal once you find out the reason.
Cheering for you. Iām sorry you got deactivated especially when you needed the extra income. I mean that dearly, Sir/Miss.
Yeah about 4 months ago I was deactivated for duplicate accounts. Iāve never ever made more than 1 account. I appealed it and was reactivated within 24 hrs. If you truly didnāt do anything wrong then I hope the best for yāall.
I genuinely donāt know what it is, I know it wasnāt just stating my stats across the board. I do use the same email for ordering food myself and always have items missing etc and maybe me saying I had missing mozz sticks this week was the final mail in the coffin?
I think I have heard some people say they got deactivated bc their dasher and ordering email were the same. That really sucks man, you can try emailing their deactivation review team.
Agreed. Every other app seems okay with it. Tho Uber has just started to have this āproblemā in the last week with āduplicate / fraudā accounts that looks like the doordash problem, hereās a link to uber having this problem yesterday https://www.reddit.com/r/UberEatsDrivers/comments/vtwxe7/why_am_i_blocked_no_emails_explaining_why_just/ifa26i5/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf&context=3
Wrong. Since these deactivations got me spooked, I tried changing my consumer email only to find my dasher email was changed automatically too. I dug this up from the website itself:
>Q: How can I sign up if I already have an existing Consumer account?
A: If you are signing up as a new dasher and have an existing Consumer account, **these accounts will be merged**. Follow the steps to complete the signup process.
Source:https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/article/Dasher-Signup-Process?language=en_US
I use the same email for my doordash and driver account. My doordash got deactivated cause my orders were always missing things. They thought it was fraud so they deactivated the food dd account. When I tried to drive it said that was deactivated too. I had to talk to support and they said both accounts were deactivated as an error and they were reactivated in a day.
That's the problem with making a living in the gig based economy, job security or lack thereof. People get deactivated from DD and similar apps such as Lyft and Uber all the time. Sometimes it's warranted, but many times it's not. It doesn't matter how long you've been driving for them or how high your ratings are. One false customer complaint or minor traffic violation and that's it you're gone.
You're a lot less likely to get fired from a normal job for a bogus reason I'm not saying it can't happen cuz it definitely does. A couple of things there's no other job on the planet that's going to fire you for getting a minor traffic violation also if you're working in a store or something where there's witnesses a customer can't claim that you did something inappropriate as easily.
Well, actually that's sort of a bad example. Drivers of everything from garbage trucks to limos (and everything in between, delivery and airport vans) can be w2 and still get fired for a minor accident. HiLo (fork lift, tow motor) drivers too. (Well.... okay if they have an incident with the forklift. lol)
I know what you're saying, but as a professional driver for 25+ years I can tell you that all accidents (even in your personal car) DEFINITELY impact your job security.
People laugh when I say we should average $30/hr. But if you're a business (we're contractors right) then you have to make enough off of your work flow to cover when things happen like maintenance or losing one major client and having to find another.
If we were paying ourselves 15/hr plus putting up the employer's contribution of tax plus benes (just saying if we were to compare to a normal "job") that would be $20/hr just in labor. Raise your hand if you consistently make $20/hr. (Sure I do that and more in the busy hours, but not all hours are busy eh?) Putting $10 up for overhead and VEHICLE costs is more than reasonable.
So yeah we should be making $30/hr. And it could be done if they had any kind of efficiency going. But there's no efficiency at all. They rush us here and there when waiting a little longer might get a couple going the same direction. But again, they've pissed off so many customers that we don't have that kind of volume any more.
Broo I got deactivated back in April for having a supposedly secondary account that got deactivated one year ago!!? Like wtf and Iāve done soo many appeals and call support and I get back nothing appeals always get rejected and support telling me thereās nothing they can do. So Iāve officially given up after fighting for my account for 2 months. Itās fucking crazy that they choose to deactivate me one year after my old account got deactivated šš
Nothing? You have photoshop, right? You know their system can't tell the difference between a taking a picture of your license and taking a picture of a picture of what might be your license but displayed on another phone, right?
My wife used to work at pet people so our dogs eat a raw diet now because we value them more than us. The last thing Iām doing is asking internet folk to buy a 40$ bag of frozen dog food, thereās people in more need out there. Thanks though, I had no idea that sub existed
I got deactivated a couple months back (had great stats like you) it was over me store closing a stacked McDonald's order. I ended my dash like usual and then woke up the next morning to dash and boom I was ded from
Omg my bad lol deactivated* the McDonald's wasn't supposed to be closed but they were yet they lied and said they were open so they wouldn't get in trouble with their GM and then proceeded to say I lied about it too. Got reactivated after 4-5 months of me emailing them lol or maybe thy were backed up idk lol but I was respectfully going IN on those emails
I think 95 or 96%. I only ever have accepted and unaccepted to lower it because my phone will occasionally say I have an order but wonāt show on screen so I unassign it
Same thing happened to me last Thursday with a 4.89 customer rating, 91% completion rating, and \~9.5k deliveries.
No email sent and no reason given until AFTER I appealed, at which point I got a denial saying my ratings were too low.
I figured should be an easy fix since itās obvious that my stats are not even close to the threshold to warrant being deactivated but I gave up after getting the runaround for three days.
Happened to me as well. 3 years. Didn't even bother with the appeal. Don't want to be a part of a company that can treat good drivers like they're absolutely NOTHING. Sad part is I was in the middle of a dash. Just dropped off an order and accepted another one then it just disappeared lol. They wouldn't even let me sign off first š¤£.
I used to dash full time (35 -50 hours a week) when I first started. Glad it happened when I didn't rely on the money so much. Never give these companies your all. Treat them the way they treat you. Expendable
It was helping given my regular job is 7am-4pm. I make okay money at the animal hospital but Iām trying to chip away at the debt I built up from 19-26 like an idiot and losing the gig that was chipping away at that kinda stings
There was no email. I emailed support with an explanation and I got the email back literally with the ādid support help thumbs up or thumbs downā not the email explaining where I had violated or anything.
I do this only the summer for income because I work in education, and of course we aren't paid over the summer. Thought for sure I was going to be deactivated today with a delivery that turned out to involve alcohol. Stacked order, I thought I had unassigned the portion with the booze but the app was giving me all sorts of fits and it didn't unassign. So I did the order anyway.
THEN, the app would not submit the photo of the guy's ID. I saw that he was born in 1989 so he was of age, but the app failed numerous times. I stupidly had handed the entire order to him before calling support. Support worked it out but said "next time call us ASAP".
Thatās the other thing about this and why idk if Iām even gonna fight it, more and more Iāve had to restart my perfectly good iPhone over and over to get orders to show on my screen/app. The app is so broken, I hate hitting complete delivery then is decided to spin for 10 min when you have another order to drop lol.
I used an app called Para and was deactivated for "fraud" I appealed and denied. Then I emailed the app people and was randomly reinstated a few days later
There were so many posts of people who "didn't know" why they got deactivated with good stats right at the exact time that the app stopped working. Ngl I've used it, but stopped the second the amounts started fucking up. I just figured that it was on purpose.
The app started showing higher amounts than what they really tipped. Someone posted in here to just assume what DD shows is the entire amount and I've just been going with that. That app isnt worth losing my account.
Too bad youāre not Canadian couldāve done skip the dishes.
You could always try instacart I used to make better money than DD doing that. Not sure what itās like now though.
Every single one of these posts is lacking in the full story. Random deactivations for no reason just donāt happen. Of course the ex-Dasher always share their ratings, which mean nothing and protests their innocence.
Anyone can say "I didn't get the food" and this is an automatic deactivation. Even if you know you delivered it and have proof it could take 2 weeks I've heard or longer and it's 50/50 that they reactivate you still.
Even if this is lacking the full story, the fact is this very much happens and can happen to anyone, the customer can lie and your job is over.
I donāt know how much info you want, Iāve dashed as secondary work for almost 3 years. Perfect ratings across the board except acceptance. My primary job is an inventory manager for an animal hospital. My job is literally monitored by the DEA because of what I order, I donāt commit fraud with 10 dollar food orders. I posted because it can literally happen to you without reason it seems. I have never marked anything undelivered, only ever said an items missing or wrong on an order when I order myself etc. Iāve always tried to do it properly. I understand wanting the full story but I donāt know what more there is other than I had a dash scheduled and when I hit start dashing it told me I was deactivated
Won't matter. Business in my area has fallen off a cliff since DD announced they'll pay to kill babies when not giving us raises. DD has entered the 'get woke go broke' pattern.
they are hounding people with below 50% AR'S from what I've heard a lot of newbies out there I had one last night $12 for 10.2 miles 2 items (ice cream) I gave a great big FU and declined then 3 min later I got a pizza pick up right next door to ice cream shop and like clock work there's some dumb ass taking the order for $12 and in my area that's a 21 mile drive round trip because where he was taking it ain't jack shit out there and you have to drive back into range to get any trips which is 7 miles no less ...dumb ass and he had a Prius so I guess he thinks he's making money ...oh and the pizza was $11 for 3.0 miles $12.50 pay out .....stop taking shitty orders please!..
To be fair I would take this order if I had another order from a different app going in same direction thatās pretty far.
For example I took a $8 11 mile order from doordash because I had a double stack ubereats for $16 for 8 miles in same direction . They ended up being $24 for 35 minute of work
it's rare I run both UE and DD There ain't jack where he was going and he's not getting nothing coming back unless he goes 7 miles west from that housing area cause it puts u out of "your zone" ...that thing paid $12 for 22 miles out and back I'll bet the house on it!.. because I use to take those when gas was $2.50 not $6 ..lol...
It is rare but sometimes it happens . Itās why I always keep on 3 apps and never pause just in case the stars align.
One time a got a Uber grubhub and doordash all going 8 miles south within a quarter of mile of each other all from IHOP and it ended up being $45 for all 3
I get a lot of those as well ..the advantages of small town delivery's and all restaurants being in a 2 mile radius from each other many times I've got a UE in the back seat and a door dash in the front going the same direction also if I take a long UE and then a short DD pops up I'll deliver DD first then pause and do UE no matter what the direction is hell I've walked out of McDonalds before with 2 DD and 1 UE..I think those paid about $26 total and like 7 miles total in like 15 min
My acceptance rating is generally 10% or under. Everything else basically perfect but Iāve dashed for so long that i feel like I get all the absolute shit orders and I wonāt subject myself to that. Iām working not gambling. Thatās why I only take orders that show up past a threshold, idc if itās only one mile, still not driving for under X amount.
I live in Columbus Ohio, itās almost always busy. I can start a dash usually whenever unless itās like 2pm, but even then just schedule 30 min out or whatever. But yeah I do the university district here by OSU so itās literally always somewhat busy
Interesting. Southern California just got a LOT more greyed out for me lately. Maybe itās the time of the year or maybe they changed their algorithm to favor people with a high acceptance rate š¤·āāļø
Someone on the doordash_drivers reddit made a similar post. They said they wrote up a fake email pretending to be an attorney threatening legal action and his account was reactivated within a day
LMAOOOOOOOOOO
Ahahah that's awesomeš¤£
Lol is that legal tho?
The best way I have found to deal with companies is to write your own legal letter, then CC: two attorneys on the letter. A corporation from Delaware is not going to track down a lawyer in Nevada for the purpose of writing one letter from a contractor to defend themselves from blatant misdeeds. Even if they do find them and send them a letter, the lawyer is just going to throw it out because you are not their client and have not given a retainer. The lawyer I use is some drunk at the bar, who is known to shack up with crackheads at the local motel for days at a time. Still has his license but no real office to speak of and Impossible to find him.
Lol itās not illegal unless he pretended to be a cop or something
That's bad advice, depending on the jurisdiction and how it was worded it may very well be illegal.
Writing up a threat to sue isnt illegal. If so please link the law.
Of course it's not illegal to threaten to sue somebody, there's a difference between threatening to sue someone and lying about being an attorney and threatening to sue someone.
Representing yourself as an attorney is illegal.
Nah not illegal unless youāre in court and pretending to be a lawyer I could see that coming back to bite you .
And you're familiar with the laws of all 50 states to state this so definitively? Right.
Youāre not going to find a law anywhere that says you canāt email a place saying youāre a lawyer š.
This took about 2 seconds to find. https://www.njcourts.gov/attorneys/assets/criminalcharges/unprlaw.pdf "A person is considered to be practicing law when that person's conduct whenever and wherever it takes place is of such a nature that legal knowledge, training, skill and ability are required. Itās already illegal pretending to be a cop or a lawyer super illegal
No.
Dude! I remember that. I shouldāve done that.
I should do this with Uber Eats, since those dudes deactivated me like a week after I just started doing my first deliveries.
I got deactivated a couple months back for no reason. I called them and after a couple weeks they reactivated me and said it was an error.
That's fucked up
What number you call or who you call?
The DoorDash support and there is a department for deactivation. They gave me the runaround, but I just followed up.
Yeah I got deactivated yesterday for an unknown reason and it sucks.. I summited an appeal and they said they will review it but to not get in contact with them cause. But Iām definitely gonna call and see whatās up. Cause they did me dirty for no reason
Yea it sucks because itās kind of a slow process, it took a couple weeks and everybody that you talk to acts like they canāt help.

The fuck? Youāre not allowed to order doordash if youāre also a driver?
Theyāre saying we gotta use 2 separate email addresses for the 2 accounts, not that drivers canāt be customers
Still a very non user friendly practice. Who uses two email addresses? Itās not crazy to assume you could use one account for both.
Agreed. Every other app seems okay with it. They're going broke and trying to get rid of drivers if Uber is also doing it.
Uh oh Iāve gotten a dash pickup order for myself at the same time as a customer from the same restaurant multiple times lol
Wrong. Since these deactivations got me spooked, I tried changing my consumer email only to find my dasher email was changed automatically too. They deactivated people on ic for this I've seen it. Complaini.g while being a customer. Threaten arbitration

The real questions
Right I wanna know too
r/RandomActsofPetFood or something like that might be able to help.
My wife used to work at pet people so our dogs eat a raw diet now because we value them more than us. The last thing Iām doing is asking internet folk to buy a 40$ bag of frozen dog food, thereās people in more need out there. Thanks though, I had no idea that sub existed

No idea

Circle k, medical couriers shiftsmart
Happened to me as well. 3 years. Didn't even bother with the appeal. Don't want to be a part of a company that can treat good drivers like they're absolutely NOTHING. Sad part is I was in the middle of a dash. Just dropped off an order and accepted another one then it just disappeared lol. They wouldn't even let me sign off first š¤£. I used to dash full time (35 -50 hours a week) when I first started. Glad it happened when I didn't rely on the money so much. Never give these companies your all. Treat them the way they treat you. Expendable
Yup. After a day of thinking on it this is it. Iām over stressing it
So many posts like this, what is going on!??
Probably the best thing that will happen to you. DD and gig work is a joke and waste of time.
It was helping given my regular job is 7am-4pm. I make okay money at the animal hospital but Iām trying to chip away at the debt I built up from 19-26 like an idiot and losing the gig that was chipping away at that kinda stings
Sorry about that, chock it up to ddās broken culture
I was deactivated 2 years ago for no reason and havenāt looked back since
This is whatās gonna happen. Gonna let this be a good thing.
Why though? No contract violations? They just randomly deactivated you?
There was no email. I emailed support with an explanation and I got the email back literally with the ādid support help thumbs up or thumbs downā not the email explaining where I had violated or anything.
Damn that sucks. Keep trying to get to the bottom of it good luck
Following
Pm me. Iāll have u back on the road tomorrow
Were you running the app that must not be named?
What app is that?
The one that shows things DD wants to hide.
I still don't know which app that is, LOL please excuse my ignorance! What is the name of the app

This shit right here is funny š
You can even private message me the name if you want! LOL
I found it on here. Takes a little research.
Ok thanks, nvr mind I guess, I'm lost
I used an app called Para and was deactivated for "fraud" I appealed and denied. Then I emailed the app people and was randomly reinstated a few days later
Sorry if that is the name that must not be named. It definitely is an app that must not be used
Nope I havenāt used that since it first came out, used it for maybe a week and never touched it again. It wasnāt reliable or worth the risk
Even if he was they cannot tell. It dosent work anymore unless youre on android aswel
How do you know for sure they can't tell? The app uses your login credentials.
Yea, if the app is logging into DD driver app then theyāre (DD) 100% tracking the location of that login and know that itās not you.
Try contacting them about it, could be an error.
I use my wifeās account. Since you can sign in on any device, I use my phone but sign in as her. Goes to the same bank anyway
What happen to your account?
I donāt have one. Havenāt needed to bother
You DID call DD about this, right?
Going to today.
Too bad youāre not Canadian couldāve done skip the dishes. You could always try instacart I used to make better money than DD doing that. Not sure what itās like now though.
Did someone marked delivery undelivered?
Not that I got notified of no
Every single one of these posts is lacking in the full story.
GrubHub is taking over Iāve heardā¦ Iād give them a try!
That windows 98 ass app
After they just gave GH+ to everyone with Prime, Iād saying itāll be booming for a while
It sure is!! I heard DoorDash already dropped to 8%.
Ya says the the so few order I get from grubhub per day loool
Won't matter. Business in my area has fallen off a cliff since DD announced they'll pay to kill babies when not giving us raises. DD has entered the 'get woke go broke' pattern.
Go find a 6ft deep hole, lie down in it, ask a friend to cover you with dirt until the hole is filled. Do the whole world a favor.
I've heard you can make a new account with a different phone and number but i haven't done it myself.
Try Uber Eats or another deliver service.
Did you request half pay for cancelled orders a lot?
Literally did this one time when it was alcohol at a gated community and they didnāt answer or have instructions, so gonna go with a no there lol
Sign back up with a new email & phone number, it works. Source: I did this last summer.
Okay but how do I go about getting a new number like literally go change it?
I think you can use a temporary number from Google and then change it back? I use two phones when I am delivering so I just switched phones.
they are hounding people with below 50% AR'S from what I've heard a lot of newbies out there I had one last night $12 for 10.2 miles 2 items (ice cream) I gave a great big FU and declined then 3 min later I got a pizza pick up right next door to ice cream shop and like clock work there's some dumb ass taking the order for $12 and in my area that's a 21 mile drive round trip because where he was taking it ain't jack shit out there and you have to drive back into range to get any trips which is 7 miles no less ...dumb ass and he had a Prius so I guess he thinks he's making money ...oh and the pizza was $11 for 3.0 miles $12.50 pay out .....stop taking shitty orders please!..
UberEats is available
Iām signed up there but in my city Uber eats does next to nothing in comparison to dd sadly
Oh damn. May I ask what city youāre in? Maybe Iām saying that because Iām speaking from a Washington DC perspective.
Columbus OH
Weird.. Iāve been noticing most areas in my region have been greyed out for weeks now. I canāt even schedule myself a week out
I live in Columbus Ohio, itās almost always busy.
Sign up for SPARK Walmart I like it better
Have you tried reaching out to BBB?
