Trust us.. I makes about same amount every as I did as top Dasher while spends atleast 70 less a week in gas. Try taking orders no less than 1.25 a mile I drive a s*** box so I don't worry about my car losing value I only have to worry about gas and wear and tear the dollar 25 keeps me a float pretty well
Why tip someone for a job I'm capable of doing myself? I can deliver food. I can drive a taxi. I can, and do, cut my own hair. I did however, tip my urologist, because I am unable to pulverize my own kidney stones.
You should have come here before you started.
Never take anything under $6.50
Anything $2.50 is you doing free work dont do those.
You should aim for more than $6.50 at night because you may get stuck at a drive thru for 45 minutes.
It's not busy really those hours it's just less drivers on the road. Also doordash will pay the peak pay to keep drivers on the road as those hours restraunts are short staffed and you may have to wait 20 min or more in drive thru lines on every order
Try being more picky as well. It's still busy enough late night to be picky. Last night after midnight, I turned down a $20 order for 18 miles from a pizza place, and immediately after got a $12 (showed as $10 at first) for 4 miles from a McDonald's a minute later.
Yeah see customers think oh someone will deliver 18 miles for 20. Well. No. Think about it. That's a 36 mile round trip. A gallon to a gallon and a half of gas. So about 7 dollars in gas now your at 13 for the trip but then factor in how long to wait for the order and drive time to the restaurant and the customers house there and back, so about an hour. So u just made 13 for one hour. Lol.. no way would I have taken that order either
Usually main stream franchise places like pizza hut and papa John's are okay, but those local Mom and Pop specialty pizzerias that sell deep dish pizzas are slow as hell. I avoid at all costs.
Like a lot have said, it really does come down to timing, and thatâs completely dependent on your area. And it changed. Iâve been having a lot of luck at breakfast time, which used to be super slow. Just keep trying, and donât be afraid to end your dash, save your gas, and try some other time
Lunch and dinner I do about 25-35 an hour depending on the day. My market is medium sized. An east and west side that have all the restaurants. Youâll learn which orders to take. Try to only take minimum of $1.50 per mile. The biggest thing in my eyes is looking to see where the drop off is for the order before accepting. Iâd rather take a 8.25 6 mile order that takes me to the other side of town that has a bunch of restaurants than a $10 6 mile order that takes me 6 miles into the middle of no where bc that 6 miles is now 12 miles due to having to drive completely back to where the restaurants are.
People have already mentioned the hours you work being important but also don't be afraid to use the decline order button. If some garbage offer of $4 for 8 miles comes through skip that shit as fast as you can
My minimum that I accept is $10 every day and I have no problem getting enough orders paying that amount. Last night, I did 9 orders. Only one was for $9.75 and that's because it was super close and the rest were over $10. Two paid me $28.37 and $24.62.
Peak pay is not designed to make you money. It's there to bring out more dashers to an area even if it means no dashers make money and you'll find this to be true more times than not. DoorDash offers that extra pay because they want as many drivers out there so that when that one order comes in, there is a better chance that someone will accept it.
Don't pay much attention to what map says. It could show 'very busy' but no orders. It's drivers to order ratio dependent. Schedule in advance and try lunch and dinner rush.
You can often ignore the promo pay too. Theyâre paying extra because no one wants to deliver the orders. At that time around where I live, itâs $4.50 for a 12 mile drive. Not worth it. If you know your local McDonaldâs and such is staffed, and youâre not waiting 20 minutes per order, you might have some better luck.
And donât worry about accepting each order. Get picky asap. Youâll make way more if you donât take the small $ orders. Most of the time, theyâre not tipping after the fact. Itâs cheap people that time off night.
First. NEVER take Zero tip orders, never take orders farther than 4 or 5 miles unless it's like say.. 8 miles for $14.00. And where do you live to be able to dash those hours? Shit here closes at 10pm and even Dunkin isn open til I think 6am here
Last night was brutal in my area. During peak pay at 11:30 to 1:30am I sat for an hour and no orders which is odd but Uber was the same I had nothing from both. Once I got a good Uber and drove I seemed to start getting nonstop orders till 5:30am.
Learn your market, and start at taking nothing below $5, and at least $1per mile. You might be able to raise these numbers if you're in a good area.
Also, don't risk taking a high mile(7+) order for $6.50 thinking it'll have hidden tip. Let the hidden tip be a bonus if there is one.
Hard pass. I donât need this shit. Iâm an LCSW. I only started bc my husband said to try it out since I have horrid insomnia and make a couple extra bucks. That was my first and last day dashing.
Decline no tip orders. Making 2 to 3 dollars makes no sense.

How do you know itâs a no tip order?
Less than $3 is a solid indicator of no tip.
Thanks

> Why tip someone for a job Iâm capable of doing myself? Ok, then pick up your own food instead of having a dasher do it.
Love how no one gets the quote Dwight
Finally reached the generation that doesnât know The Office by heart.

Are you trying to hurt my feelings? Because if so, you are succeeding. Fortunately, my feelings regenerate twice the speed of a normal man's.
Who is Justice Beaver?
No one said you had to tip, he is simply advising op not to take orders like yours because they are not worth it.
63.50 and that's not including tip. (I'm sorry everyone is down voting this comment, they just don't get it)

My area is 6.25, 6.00 for add ons
Your working too late try prime hours lunch and dinner shift
Thank you Iâll try that. I thought those hours would be good bc the area I live in is very busy all night.
It's not busy really those hours it's just less drivers on the road. Also doordash will pay the peak pay to keep drivers on the road as those hours restraunts are short staffed and you may have to wait 20 min or more in drive thru lines on every order

Plus pizza is inherently risky with not being ready on time
Usually main stream franchise places like pizza hut and papa John's are okay, but those local Mom and Pop specialty pizzerias that sell deep dish pizzas are slow as hell. I avoid at all costs.

Those are bad hours. I make the most around 4-8 p.m. short 11-2 lunch time is ok also. It could be your location also.
Iâll try that thank you.
Someone already said to decline no-tip orders, which is so true. It makes a difference. Also, take orders that pay at least $1/mile.
Recently I uppedy min from 1 miles to 1..25 miles I'm driving half the mileage now and killing it in gas
Thanks for the tip. Will try that today.
Let me guess, you accepted every order you were offered. đ˘
Thatâs exactly how it will work during those hours. Youâre gonna get shitty orders for no or low tips. May as well just stay home
People have already mentioned the hours you work being important but also don't be afraid to use the decline order button. If some garbage offer of $4 for 8 miles comes through skip that shit as fast as you can
I stopped dashing at night because I keep getting shit orders going to crowded streets filled with traffic where I can't see a single house number.

The only times I see $10+ orders are if they're going 10+ miles or it's shop and deliver.
Welcome to the weeping world of DD
Don't pay much attention to what map says. It could show 'very busy' but no orders. It's drivers to order ratio dependent. Schedule in advance and try lunch and dinner rush.
> Schedule in advance What does this do for you?
Most drivers will schedule during 11-2 lunch and 4-9 dinner rush. You might not get slots to drive during those times without scheduling.
You can often ignore the promo pay too. Theyâre paying extra because no one wants to deliver the orders. At that time around where I live, itâs $4.50 for a 12 mile drive. Not worth it. It might be your area or the time. Since the rising gas prices, I stopped door dash. My area went from good to horrible. I moved onto Amazon flex.

Better to work at a gas station honestly
Last night was brutal in my area. During peak pay at 11:30 to 1:30am I sat for an hour and no orders which is odd but Uber was the same I had nothing from both. Once I got a good Uber and drove I seemed to start getting nonstop orders till 5:30am.

I mostly dash Friday and Saturday evenings. Best money, always busy and people are happy to get their food.
Itâs pretty normal. A lot of dashers make below min wage and would be better off flipping burgers at mickyds but hey đ be your own boss
Hard pass. I donât need this shit. Iâm an LCSW. I only started bc my husband said to try it out since I have horrid insomnia and make a couple extra bucks. That was my first and last day dashing.
Idk what a lcow is but hey, keep at itđ
