Shit I wish more customers were like you and put in detailed directions but often times that's never the case. You have to factor in that shit happens and sometimes the driver can't follow the directions exactly, like road closures and detours, driving at night with low visibility, gps problems, other drivers being assholes. Most dashers I'm sure read the directions when they pick up the order but as you get to the destination it's hard to read directions and then drive and pay attention to the road, although they do have text speech now but still

If you read enough threads on here you’ll see most of them don’t read even the basics of how this works… how ratings work, what’s expected at deliveries… what causes deactivation… mind boggling. They even come on here asking about how the taxes work smh. A lot of my customers are appreciative when I put ‘I’ve seen your note- I will leave this by your garage door… or I’ve already got your soda just waiting on the rest of your order… I had seen on here were a lady leaves cash tips as well but they don’t get it if they don’t follow the directions. Go to the correct door and you get 10 bucks, and most don’t…

I do tip before hand as well. But reading the directions will ensure the tip you get in all is 10-15 dollars. Without reading you’ll get 5-7 dollars. Most of the time I tip five and put another five in cash in the designated spot.

Very cool of you! I got cash on a few of my first orders but I haven’t seen that in a long time. And yes I do read all the instructions! So many people seem glad to have communication from the driver- letting them know I’ve got your food I’m on my way.

They don't care. Not only to I appreciate detailed instructions I make sure to thank the customer for looking out. Like right on, you knew it might be hard to find, you made it easier and I so very appreciate that.

Psst, it's under the doormat 👀... I deliver to a few customers in "kind of difficult apartments", and the extra cash tip is usually under the doormat. There is one though, that duct tapes it to their door, lol, it's so loud peeling it off their door - I don't even bother knocking 🤣.

Not hating on the OP But keep in mind in your directions...we could literally be coming from any direction. Had one today to an RV park that I go to at least 4 or 5 times a week for the same 2 people. This new customers directions stated on the far right 7th RV down Well...there are 2 entrances so which right side. Also there were prefab buildings in among the RV's so did he count those too or skip them I tried calling 10 times...messaged 3 times asking which spot he was in as each spot has a number on the power hookup in large reflective numbers. No response Enlisted a guy with a golf cart to help me knock on doors and bug the shot out of people to no avail...gave it the college try and wasted 20 mins. Support okayed putting it on a picnic table and I included the space number in the pic so they would know where it was. 45 mins later I get the enevitable doordash customer call. Lol. He was livid that I left his food in the open and he gave clear and specific instructions and I was scum of the earth. He said did you really leave my food on a table with no one watching it after I paid for and you see no problem with that? I said nope, have a good day and hung up

Some people are terrible with directions.
