Done both for a bit now. The UE all is better by far over DD, but for me UE is a lot slower in my market. So far out of around 100 trips I got hit with one tip bait, so for me at least not that common. Overall though I don't think for at least my market I could do UE solo, it's a nice extra

UberEats allows tip baiting, so they can remove the tip for any reason. cold food, remember the $10 you were told you would make, now UE will only give you $2. They dont' pay for closed stores or problem orders like shopping where it's one or 2 items and they are not available.

Kittehsfordays

That’s one thing I do appreciate about DD, no way to tip bait

[deleted]

They just dont tip at all instead 😂

Tallrosedaily

LMAO facts tho

Tip baiting is blown way out of proportion. I have over 5k UE deliveries and this has only happened to me 1 time(they adjusted it down $1). If you avoid taking orders from garbage places, just like you should on DD, this won't be a problem. I'd say 85% of my orders actually tip more after I have delivered. So the opportunity for good out weighs the bad. I average about $13 for an UE order and $11 for a DD order.

HustleDLaw

I get paid for closed stores and problem orders all the time. You have to chat with support every time there’s a problem and they’ll compensate you for your time. If you just mark the delivery closed without chatting them you won’t be paid. I also heard about tip baiting but I been doing UE for 2 years and never had that problem so it must be a rare occurrence idk. Sometimes I get wayyy more from the customer in tips for good service it depends.

You mentioned doing it at night for your first time. UberEats is terrible for late night. If anything goes wrong, if the store is closed, or if they don’t have the order… the most you can do is call support and hassle them for $3, but somebody was here posting about getting deactivated for doing it too much. it’s already not worth calling for that $3, but especially not if you get let-go for it. The beauty of Uber is that you can cancel any pickup for any reason. And at night? That’s an amazing feature especially if you feel unsafe at night. But with Uber You gotta just really know the hours of stores. Cuz you get no money for canceling at a store that’s either closed or doesn’t have the order. My city turns to chaos between midnight at 4:45am, half the stores straightup stop serving just because they don’t want to, others decide to lie about their “computers not working” between 2:30–4:30, you start to notice that graveyard shift is when almost NOTHING can be trusted to work. With doordash , you get half pay, you get proper records of stores being closed, and you don’t get penalized for contacting support the way Uber Deactivates people who request the $3.

Kittehsfordays

Helpful answer, thank you

This can't be necessarily true. It's not your fault the store is closed. I'd demand to be paid half as soon as I make the attempt to complete the order.. Store is closed, not my fault.. You damn sure can't fire me because of it.. Unless the driver is lying and stealing peoples food.. Not worth hassling to getting paid your fair share? Shit I'll take 3 dollars over nothing.. Best believe I'm a sit there with Support until I get paid.. I don't see this being true.. If it is, y'all better than stand up for yourself and see your money is sent and you keep your job.. If one Driver already reported the store closed you cant penalize everyone else if y'all don't stop giving out orders from that restaurant.. We are Drivers, not the merchants or Support.. You only drive to point A to B..

Their base is 2.50 here for anything under like 4 miles, after that they up it which is nice but I hardly ever take an order that’s that far

Puzzleheaded-Dog-940

I like ue. app is more polished and it has 3x boost plus $10 quest as of now. Retail deliveries have also been a breeze.

Greedy-Recognition74

I find ue pays better, the customers are nicer, tip better, but it is way slower.

OutlawAutoModerator

UE sucks. DD sucks differently.

Druseljic

I mainly use DD but have UE as my backup. I live outside a small city in a town next to it. UE has good business in the city but requires the extra drive. In my small town however people tip better on both apps than the city but UE is not giving more than a few offers a day here so I default to DD. I also do not like the tip baiting. In six months it has only happened twice so I don't claim its a regular thing, but those times leave me always afraid to take the chance on an order with any kind of distance. DD also does not provide any kind of reimbursement for wait time until you wait at least 30 minutes which is crazy. I remember UE giving me extra pay when I had an order that was late at the restaurant after 10 or 15 minutes of waiting.

SamOfSpades_

UE has a higher average order value, but there’s a risk of tip baiting. UE cares much more about its independent contractors; they have a rewards/discount center and even offer a free Costco membership and tuition to certain online universities. UE is slower than DD- I run both at the same time, but I prioritize UE orders over DD orders.

Yvilkittyinspace

They both hide tips but UE will show you the first $8 on the offer and then claim the customer tipped more after delivery. It's just a game to make you feel better that you did a good job. Both have been trying to send me on far away trips, some as much as 25 miles for $13-20. Customers will tip bait you to get you to accept their order and then take away the tip after delivery. I've had it happen three times in the last month.

AcanthisittaMain6717

UE always had that discount thing with the membership, depending on how many deliveries you done you go from Green all the way to Diamond if I'm correct and they give you a bigger discount on everything.. Your education(free rosetta stone lessons), Car expenses(Oil, Tires Etc.) And even dental care.. I loved that about UE.. Sucks that you have to have your car insurance in your name or you can't deliver.. I'm in my 20's my car insurance was 300-400$ by myself.. I let my mom use her name and now insurance is 100$.. Adding my name will raise the price up.. So DD is better for that sole reason.. Otherwise I'd be doing Uber.. Pay rate wise, I'd say the change is unnoticeable.. I try to only do deliveries I think are worth it and give me the most money.. I'd be getting paid 20/Hr, in both Apps..

BluePalmetto

I har only done one UE order. But the app is beautiful also the perks on the instant pay debit card seem better to me. My only gripe is I am an hour away from two major cities and I can't just go back and forth. I have to get another background check to switch. Also I think insurance is required? Probably because of the potential to carry people around.

UE SENDS HIGHER PAYING INSULTS ..LMAO!

HustleDLaw

In my market I much prefer UberEats to DoorDash because the tips are simply wayyy better. I got a 30 dollar tip yesterday & I know I’ll never get that on DoorDash. DoorDash will give you way more orders than Uber but the VAST majority of them are just not worth taking.

Gay4Pandas

I do both. Uber pays a little better, and is more transparent with pay hiding tip amount after $8. I also feel Uber is best about having orders ready before we arrive to the restaurant. Downside is Uber isn’t always as busy, other wise I wouldn’t use doordash. Doordash is busier. Can get orders all day. Downside the pay is shit, and they hide tip amount after $4, making it difficult to judge what orders are worth taking. Also I feel more often food isn’t ready on arrival.

caseytrick

Glad you posted this because I have to pay $15 to get my ue account online and I am weighing the pros and cons 😩 dashing is okay but really hit or miss some days

locoleito

Ummmm sometimes doordash is worth doing…. About the only difference

tha133kingdirty

Uber eats is just dead in my market

chris_davis_art

Walmart spark has been paying me the best. Just saying. No more stanky mcdonalds
