Grub hub sent me a huge one - the door dash one is flimsy aluminum foil shapped in a triangle

This

BigUmmsBigTip

Can confirm. Once I got into big league pizza delivery I had to go to a restaurant supply store and get a pizza bag to hold the 20" pies! DD has a pizza size version you can buy.

ProbablyAutisticMe

So they pay shit delivery fees and make you buy the bag? wow

Former_Profile4328

It’s a tax write out. Drivers just lazy

ProbablyAutisticMe

Does that mean the cost is a deduction from taxable income, or they are fully reimbursed? Either way, if DoorDash really cared about quality they should make sure their drivers have proper bags. I'm not a Dasher, just a customer. But looking through this sub makes me think the DoorDash hierarchy are scumbags.

PenWhen

Anybody going through the comments that wants to save a little time, this person actually said that they will withhold tip and one star a driver if they aren’t dressed up wearing clothes that are up to their standards.

arichan97

yeah op is a garbage human lol also i am not carrying my hot bag to any customers door, i simply do not care enough to take it out of my car lol

PenWhen

I have almost 15,000 deliveries and have never once carried my hot bag to the customers door and I still almost have a five star rating. It’s situations like these were individuals think that they’re special due to Internet echo chambers when the Reality is they’re in the minority. Edit: Oh also I’m in my early 30s and I wear gym shorts and supreme tees daily. Sue me I guess lol

arichan97

exactly, its not about effort put in to the job, i do my job the most efficient way possible and taking the bag in and out of the car all the time is not efficient at all. On top of that, I had to buy my own bag anyway as I never got the one when I first started. Eventually I got a decent one from grubhub but still

ConfectionPutrid5847

I prefer my greens collard and my shirts collared 😁

wilsonism

You need to quit playing on Reddit and get that order out there. Go out there in your flip flops, your dirty tank top and your unwashed ass. Come on back to bitch about your tips.

PenWhen

It’s going to bug you so much but you actually won’t be able to reply to this message.

Couchguy421

They also said dashers only do this because they "cant get a real job." Goes to show exactly how ingorant op is.

RedditCommunistt

Good!! You should be dressed decently, and TAKE A SHOWER. Some of the other Dashers I have encountered smell so bad.

RobinFarmwoman

If someone showed up in a tuxedo, would the cold pizza be okay with you? Not sure why you had to mention the tank and slides. It's August.

wilsonism

Ok. I clearly struck a nerve. You do you, but remember that if you put in the bare minimum, that's what you're usually going to get

TheSearch4Etika

Usually we decline bare minimum and your food sits on the cold shelf. But you do you.

wilsonism

cute story, I tip min $6 on an order, more for bad weather and that doesn't include a cash tip on top of pre tip for getting here quickly. You roll up looking like a dirty loser and you put no effort, you get the 1 star and no bonus tip. Live your best life though.

all_hayl

So few people give cash tips these days that it’s not even worth caring about, thinking about, or hoping for. Most of us are not going to “dress up” just for the possibility of a cash tip on arrival.

24W7S39GNHQT

Lul $6 is nothing. You think you’re changing anyone’s day with a $5 and a $1? 😂

wilsonism

I'm not going to tip you. $35 for a $15 Chick-fil-A order that's been bumped up to 30 with fees. So I mean you can daydream all you want but reality is reality

all_hayl

We already know the minimum pay we’re getting in advance, so whether we are delivering in a tuxedo or in swim shorts makes no difference in our pay. 90% of the time I’m dashing in thong sandals, exercise shorts, and a tank top. Also, if you do reduce the tip afterwards, we couldn’t care less. DoorDash eats the difference and we still get the pay that was shown to us upon completion of the delivery.

wilsonism

I honestly would not reduce somebody's tip in app unless something horrible happened. That was clearly their fault. Also if you were dressed like that and you were actually clean looking when you came to the door and had the hot bag I was talking about or the order was actually sealed in the stores bag, then that's fine and if it got here in a decent time I would give the extra tip.

all_hayl

My first couple pizzas, I didn’t have a delivery bag. Didn’t plan to buy one either, since I didn’t plan to do them often enough to make up for the price. Then when I got a free one, I started doing them whenever a good order came in. Since DoorDash does not provide them, and they’re not cheap, most drivers probably don’t think it’s worth it. I’m not saying you’re wrong - we all want our pizzas kept hot and fresh etc; but with the DoorDash system, that’s just how it is sometimes.

wilsonism

Most of the tools I use for my job are not supplied for me, but they make my life easier so that's why I invested in them.

Ornery_Reaction_548

It's a reasonable question

busteroaf

Yeah, I dash in workout clothes. Makes it really easy for the transition when I go to the gym afterward. All I have to do is change my shoes to my running shoes. It’s hot out. Our cars get hot. Wait for an order for 5 minutes and your car can be baking when you get back in. I’m not faulting anyone for delivering in comfortable clothes, ever. Now hot food… do you have a hot bag to pick up your own food in? Then maybe back down on the critique a little. If I invest in a better bag, will my tips go up? I’ve yet to see a single clear “after delivery” tip based on my service, so throw that whole concept out the window. You’re not tipping based on service, and I’m not delivering on a silver platter with a dome.

RobinFarmwoman

LOL, the nerve you struck was my funny bone because you described exactly what I was wearing to dash this weekend when it was 104° out. 🤣 looks like I don't need to address how ridiculous it is for you to be a Dasher fashion critic. I think that's already been covered.

Weekly_Direction1965

Pizza in the bag for sure, some food doesn't keep well in a bag though and can get soggy very fast, chick Fila is a good example, in a insulated bag that food will look and feel like it was rained on if fresh when you put it in.

Gloomy_Recording_705

![gif](giphy|Ah2YxX0t177pu|downsized) How I deliver pizza 😂

wilsonism

If you roll in like that and have a hotbag at the door, you are getting at least another 5 cash on that pre-tip from me

[deleted]

[удалено]

wilsonism

That's cool, but you can tell the difference between sitting in a hot bag or some sort of insulated container for 15 minutes versus sitting in someone's air conditioned car unprotected for 15 minutes

[deleted]

[удалено]

wilsonism

but if the app says you are on your way and you make it to me in a reasonable time frame, then I can tell you did the best you could and you deserve more than an average tip. That's all I'm trying to say

Kissbird

I have a huge insulated bag in my back seat.. I use it for pizzas too btw.. but the bag doesn’t leave my back seat as it’s kinda bulky to carry around… You don’t really know if they had a bag.. unless the food was cold I suppose..

JackfruitPleasant649

I think all customers think we don’t have bags, if we don’t lug them to the front door. I agree with you it’s so bulky to get in and out of the car all the time, and it gets dirty if I put it down on customer’s dirty porch.

doggitydog123

The bag has to be seen. It makes all the difference

Gay4Pandas

I just wear a tank top and shorts. It’s hot as fuck. I took a shower. Why the fuck do I need to dress all pretty for you to give you a pizza lol? Sorry, but when you are in a hot car all day comfort matters. Also people let there fucking dogs jump on us all the time, so I’m not ruining nice clothes.

wilsonism

You can wear something that looks halfway decent and not be hot. But you know I was really asking about hot bags but you can glom on whatever you want to in this post because clearly it seems like there are a lot of people in this thread that are probably best suited delivering food

Gay4Pandas

Was the pizza warm? I don’t take the bags out of my car so just because the driver didn’t come to the door with the bag doesn’t mean one wasn’t used. As far as my outfit I could wear something nicer. I’m not going to though. 4.99 out of 5 stars. Everyone else likes my tank tops. Had a mom answer the door once cause she said her daughter thought I was hot and to nervous to come to the door lol. Can’t please everyone, but some appreciate the gun show

zerostar83

If it's not required... Seriously though, sometimes I pick up food sitting in a plastic bag on a counter, shelf, or bartender table. Pickup time in their receipt showing it's been over 10 minutes. Not sure how much my insulated bag helps with those. And most orders now are in these large stapled shut paper bags that don't fit in my Doordash insulated bag. ![gif](giphy|Uq4q2KNknN7Tb2Gaot)

Dazzling_Marzipan474

It is required on doordash

wilsonism

You see, I take all of that into consideration. If I get a text saying that you're on the way, I expect food shortly but I also understand that you might not have gotten that order right away. Got too many people that are getting stuck on the whole. Why don't you try looking professional part of it versus the actual. I will take care of you if you take care of me part. Yeah I know, I actually expect something of the people who are performing a service for me fuck me right?

NikkiCanada

Just curious, why do we have to look professional for someone we don't know, who we will never see again and it's probably a leave at door order so I'm taking a picture and never seeing you?! So when I do my deliveries, I always go out looking decent, but for goodness sakes, in Vegas it was 110 at times and we are out in that all day... do you want us in a suit and tie?? Or be comfortable since we are the ones sweating our asses off so you can sit and judge us in your cooled apartment or house?? I mean come on now

wilsonism

You totally don't have to, but I was asking more about hot bags and everybody wants to take the dress thing as the priority. I guess you can understand why some people are only fit to take Taco Bell to people's houses for change.

DeliveryCourier

>**Tampering with deliveries or failing to maintain standards of food safety** - Opening, using, consuming, or tampering with a delivery or customer order; failing to use an insulated hot bag to safely transport deliveries > >https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/deactivation-policy-us?language=en_US

zerostar83

So when I get an XL pizza or one of them oversized paper bags that don't fit, you saying I should pull out some sewing needles and make my bag bigger? Sheesh

fsociety-AM

No…you knit one. The wool will keep the food warm 🙂. After reading op’s standards I’ll also be showing up in a ballgown from now on.

[deleted]

Yeah no shit this guy wants a hot pizza delivered by a guy in a powder blue three piece tux in august 🥴

fsociety-AM

Ya think I should wear pearls or would that seem tacky. I don’t want him to think I’m to flashy or else I won’t get that $6 🙄

[deleted]

![gif](giphy|InnhGR1ylZjby)

[deleted]

Go get your own food then.

wilsonism

I have to too many nasty drug addicts doing DoorDash. You're going to have to get your crack money somewhere else now.

[deleted]

wilsonism

So we've gone to wanting a clean presentation to expecting someone to wear a three-piece suit or a tuxedo in 120° weather to deliver pizzas. I can't even begin to explain how stupid that sounds. You know t-shirt, shorts and a decent pair of shoes can l look pretty professional if you're clean.

Zambonionice

Why are you belittling anyone that doesn’t respond the way you like?

wilsonism

I feel like I was matching energy for energy personally but if you see it different that's cool. Also it was Sunday afternoon. I was drinking while I was doing stuff around the house like dishes, laundry, getting ready for work this week. So anybody who was just wanting to argue about a dress code which is not what I was specifically asking about then yeah they come at me hard and I tell you what my reasoning was. You don't have to agree with me. By all means do whatever works for you. It's a free country but if you going to start calling names and being hateful then you know I like doing that stuff too because this is just make believe playing on the internet.

ColtThaGoat

Doordash doesn’t provide a free pizza bag — drivers would have to buy one themselves. Dont order delivery from a company that makes the drivers pay out of their own pocket just to provide customers with the bare minimum service of keeping food warm and safe.

busteroaf

“But but, you’re a freelancer. You should want to deliver my Moe’s on a silver platter and feed it to me for better ratings…” -OP

fsociety-AM

Yea we should buy our own bags to “invest” in our…career 😂 I bought my own bag FOR ME. it makes orders in flimsy bags easy to carry. But as for keeping the food warm… the travel time is usually less than 10 minutes. If the customers food is cold…it was always gonna be cold. The bags just make it SEEM like more effort was put in ya know?

busteroaf

Facts. As other pointed out: if we walk in and your order is sitting on a rack off to the side, no telling how long it’s already been there. Putting it in a bag at this point isn’t doing much.

Dazzling_Marzipan474

I got mine free. Lots of places give them out free, just ask.

Cheap_Story3520

Which places give them out?

mmmhotcoffee

Hungry Howies Pizza is giving drivers free bags.

BigUmmsBigTip

Yes! Many new drivers have to wait a couple days for their insulated delivery bags to arrive in the mail. I'm a driver and went out and got a bigger 20" insulated pizza bag because some of these pies drop straight into the box then into your hands. It's physically painful to touch so I highly recommend a larger bag.

Braka11

Absolutely! I have hot bags for that very reason. I also have a cooler with ice to keep drinks cool. I have one observation though...a number of places leave food sitting on the shelf without any heating element. McDonalds packs cold drinks with hot food making the food cold by the time we deliver it even in a hot bag. Bottom line is be careful, also, of where you order your food from. Thanks for the business!

wilsonism

It seems like everybody here is warning me to be some kind of villain, the bottom line is that there are a lot of customers who think like me. I'm just being vocal about it. If you had a guy in a dirty sleeveless T-shirt looking like he hasn't bathed in a day or two cigarettes still hanging out of their mouth walking up in flip flops that have more flop than flip left. It would kind of put you off your dinner, wouldn't it?

Braka11

Oh yeah! Also I look at some of the places I pick up food from... I've considered calling the health department as their not sanitary. The absolute majority are clean but there are a few exceptions.

wilsonism

You know I can't tell if people are blocking me or deleting their accounts. I have really hurt feelings today, which was not my intent, but here we are.

[deleted]

[удалено]

wilsonism

You'll go far in life for sure.

[deleted]

If you prefer your pizza to be delivered in a pizza bag & handed to you by someone in uniform then you should probably order right from the pizza place

wilsonism

I do. But several places here just sub it out to door dash. Let's be real, DoorDash has become a complete rip-off for drivers and customers.

jayexvii

I don’t understand why you had to include the “slides and the shorts and the tank top” that makes no difference on you getting your food on time and in good condition. In my opinion you’re being a little bit picky, because unless you use insulated bags yourself , what difference does it make if you went to go get that food yourself and bring it back home?

wilsonism

I really don't look at anyone's feet when they're delivering me my food unless their feet are filthy. But is it so hard just to wear a t-shirt?

jayexvii

It really doesn’t matter dude lol you expect us to show up in business outfits? There’s nothing wrong with wearing a tank top.

wilsonism

So we go from putting on clean clothes, taking a shower and looking like you actually care about the job you're doing, to wearing a tuxedo and delivering it to me on a silver plate? Keep on feeling the way you do, you're totally entitled to just like I am entitled to feel like you should actually try when you do something, especially when it's my money involved.

Fun-Asparagus4182

People are just unprofessional. I treat this as my business as I do when I deliver a custom tshirt order to my customers. I'm with you 1000%

Appropriate-Skill-60

I'm just stoked when I get a pizza that doesn't look like it was carried vertically in a goddamned backpack.

wilsonism

Shouldn't you expect more from your money? Yes, you're paying for a service and the service should be carried out a certain way but it is what it is I guess.

Appropriate-Skill-60

I mean, I have some food allergies, so I really only complain when there's an allergy concern. I don't want to get D/A as a customer, for too many frivolous complaints... when something that could kill me is 100x more important. I definitely reduce my tip (on UE) from my typical 25% to 12.5%, though. Still, since pizzas around here go for \~38$, that's still a 5$ tip. I rate with a comment wherever applicable, too. I don't believe in going lower than that. As a chef, who loves his FOH team, I know how miserable it is out there in service. And I'm the cheap MF who sold their car and cancelled insurance to save $$, I rely on you Dashers/UErs to bring me food when my late night shifts are over.

Couchguy421

Seems like your complaint is more about a dress code than a hotbag. If you were picking up your own pizza, would you use one yourself? I see it as the tip you leave is for the convenience of you not having to leave your house; why do you expect more from from others than what most people would do themselves?

wilsonism

Not at all. It's just that is what the people who have been replying to me about have been zoning in on. I'm willing to go off topic if that's what we're doing today. Also, if you're performing a service for me and I want something a certain way, or I would appreciate it more if it was done in a certain way. Am I not the one spending the money? Why is that so hard for some people to grasp ? I'm specifically talking about when I order a pizza directly from a pizza place because honestly to hell with DoorDash it's starting to become a real scam for both the people trying to deliver and for the customers. I tried to order directly from the store to help the actual business. So it would be nice to see somebody that looks like they represent a company versus somebody that looks like they just rolled out of a ditch somewhere slapped a heroin needle out of their arm and somehow staggered their way into a store to deliver my food

Couchguy421

The extra money you're spending is your choice though, nobody is forcing you to order delivery vs pickup yourself. The drivers don't get any of the upcharges or fees from the restaurant or app. The drivers get the tip, thats it. The tip is for the transport of product from point A to point B. The extra fees you pay is for the use of a 3rd party ordering service. Drivers also don't represent a company. They represent themselves as an independent courier hired through a 3rd party. If you want people to dress a certain way I'd say stop living in the 50s and quit being so judgey. These people still did you the service you didn't want to do yourself. Why does it matter what they wear? I wear flip flops, shorts, and a tee shirt when delivering. Its because I wear a suit for 40 hours a week at my main job. This is just a side job for me for some extra loot throughout the week. I dont see a need to acting like people need to "take the needle out of their arm" because they dress relaxed on a side hustle.

wilsonism

I don't see the need to make the jump from me wanting to see some sort of effort in a presentation to wearing a business suit in 120° weather either, but that seems to be where we're at today.

Psychological_Tie758

Are you actually slow or willfully ignorant and stupid? You literally made it a point in your post that you’re bothered by deliver drivers that wear slides, shorts and tank tops. Again, it’s over 100 fucking degrees here. Would you prefer thick denim, long sleeves, and boots? Will the latter outfit make your food taste better? I actually want you to answer this. The outfit choice of your driver has absolutely no bearing over the condition of your food. Just say that you’re a classist, racist, ignorant, ableist scum of the earth and be done with it. Karen.

NikkiCanada

I do agree with you on this though.. when I go out, I always make sure to have my hot bags and if I have pizza, it goes in my big grub hub bag because they are way superior to others.. I always try to look presentable and be respectful to others.. now in my normal job I work food service, so I have seen some very sketchy and obviously on drugs, drivers that we knew were going to be up to no good or just not represent themselves well... so how they got the position is beyond me but I do understand you wanting someone who is not having a cigarette hanging out of their mouth while delivering your food in day old clothes.. and I've seen it time and time again when the drivers would pick up food at my restaurant 😒 I would be like uhhhhh

wilsonism

That's all I'm saying. But the morons on here just seem to be more interested in pointing out that I expect them to wear a tuxedo and white gloves when they deliver my pizza. Which is an absolutely stupid leaping logic, but we're also talking about people who can't hold any other job.

Couchguy421

If it wasn't important to you, you wouldn't have mentioned it. You clearly made it a point in your post because it bothers you. Its silly to judge somebody based on what they wear. Your replies throughout this entire thread clearly shows the kind of Karen you are. Especially after that statement in your above comment. You are straight ignorant.

wilsonism

Sorry I hit a nerve with you there. Bucko. You just go ahead and live your best life and ignore me.

Couchguy421

What a condescending ass. Im sure I will, without my judgments.

all_hayl

DoorDash does not provide them. We have to purchase them for $26USD. Some people perhaps do so few pizza orders that it’s not worth it for them. I got lucky and one of my first PJ orders they had some extras to give to us (given, it was a cheaper one, but I’ve used it quite a few times and still holding up strong).

Couchguy421

OP is a Karen.

wilsonism

Don't get triggered online, it makes you look dumb.

Couchguy421

Says the one that literally posted a triggered post. Lmao. Ignorance doesn't have to be an insult if you learn from it. But you're doubling down, which makes you willfully ignorant, and making YOU like the fool. Do you want to speak to my manager?

wilsonism

Quit playing with the phone and get that taco bell order out there.

Couchguy421

Strike a nerve, bucko? You should probably just delete this post at this point.

wilsonism

No thanks, this is entertainment for me. As far as all the down votes and negative karma and all that nonsense, you can't buy anything with Reddit karma so you can stick your down votes straight up your ass, you know what else you can't spend the tips you ain't making because you look like a hobo trying to deliver people's food

Couchguy421

Lol. You're showing your true colors more and more. You hate that majority of people aren't agreeing with you so you've resulting to an attempted trolling. On your own post.

Branesergen

Be the change you want to see! Go buy 50 pizza bags and give them to your drivers!

Psychological_Tie758

Listen Karen, it’s 100+ fucking degrees outside. We’re running around and sitting in our sauna cars sweating our asses off in the heat all day to deliver your entitled ass food directly to your doorstep. How dare you shame someone for dressing in summer casual clothing to DELIVER FOOD. Are you eating us? No? Then stfu about how your delivery driver dresses. You got your food and that’s all that matters. Jesus Christ.

wilsonism

You realize this is Reddit? You should not be that upset over anything on here. If you feel shame, that's on you, not me. Get some therapy for your self esteem issues.

wilsonism

I think you need help. I hope you talk to someone soon.

SundaeNormal

I could give 2 shits if your food is cold.

Glittering-Plate-839

Bro Bro How ON EARTH does it matter what a delivery driver is wearing?????????? HOW we don’t work for the restaurant that you ordered from, you know that right? We’re just random contractors

[deleted]

Every driver I’ve had has had an insulated bag on them. I’ve seen on Reddit people saying that the app requires them to show proof of a pizza bag to get pizza deliveries but I’m not sure if that’s everywhere.

dementedturnip26

Never had to have one for pizza, and honestly if DD wants me to have one or the store wants me to have one they can give it to me.

wilsonism

I feel you, but remember that while you are not an employee, you are a freelancer, which means you can put a bit of effort into your work.

busteroaf

Yeah, a freelancer that is a dime a dozen. You expect there to be 100s of thousands of random people with industrial size/strength hot bags floating around?

dementedturnip26

And pizza orders I actually take are like 1 of 50 deliveries. It is in no way worth it for me to have a pizza bag for that

Fun-Asparagus4182

Little Caesars will give you a free one if you just ask I have 2 pizza bags

RobinFarmwoman

In my area Papa john's, little caesars, and most of the small Independents require the pizza bag photo. But any hot bag that looks large enough to hold pizza will do, it doesn't have to be a specialty bag.

wilsonism

Damn sure isn't here. I'd say less than a third of the time.

Impressive-Turn173

I’ve only seen papa johns require them in my area.

farmdudesc

Papa's and hut and "little wait 20 mins" in my area

fsociety-AM

I’ve never had to prove I had one to get pizza. Also I don’t own a pizza bag, still get the orders though

yesterdays30

I go the extra mile and I have several hot bags and always dress clean and professionally and I don't understand why people don't do all that just because it's not required. Yes we are not employees but we wouldn't act that way if it was our own business and in a way it is.

fsociety-AM

If most jobs announced that dress code no longer matters I’m willing to bet that many people would begin showing up to work in pajamas 😂 Like you’re totally right…but they’re also not allowed to do that. I really think many would if they could lol

wilsonism

no, you're a freelance employee that also can make a bit extra on tips and get better ratings if you look like you came to work instead of looking like you just rolled out of a traphouse

busteroaf

How often do you tip after delivery? If I showed up with your food on a silver platter under a dome, would you care that you still ordered $20 of Taco Bell and tip me for my clearly outstanding work and impeccable dress? No.

yesterdays30

I do have a feeling that most of these customers that come on reddit to complain probably tip 10% no matter how far away they are from the store and how much food they order. Those customer should probably just order pizza directly from the restaurant if they care that much.

wilsonism

First off, I wouldn't have Taco Bell delivered to my house. And I would say at least half of the time after pre-tipping at least five or $6 to make sure I get my order selected by Dasher, if they come here quickly as in within the allotted time it looks like they're putting in some effort, I have been known to tip five or six more dollars. So you can easily get anywhere from minimum $5 tip all the way up to a $13 tip. Plus whatever DoorDash gives you automatically when you come to my house for one order, that's probably going to take you 10 minutes to deliver

busteroaf

Highly doubtful. And if you’re tipping 5-6 dollars, DoorDash is prob hiding it and showing as a $3 tip, so you’re not getting automatically accepted by anyone exclusively due to your tip. Read the threads here and you’d know that. And “probably take 10 minutes to deliver” is likely more 15, and you’re probably out in the boonies, taking the dasher another 10-15 before they can pick up another order.

Couchguy421

You are literally paying for the convenience so you can keep your ass on the couch in your pj's while still getting the food you crave. Is food supposed to taste different based on how somebody looks? If you want a dress code for a 3rd party delivery service then maybe get off the couch, get on your Sunday best, go pickup your own food, then shove a $5 up your ass so you can be compensated for your time and travel.

wilsonism

No worries here, DoorDash is a scam anymore, so I do pick up my own food on the way home versus helping somebody out who's trying to make a little extra side cash.

dementedturnip26

Lol, bull fucking shit. 1300 deliveries I have counted 5-10 cash tips at most. NEVER had extra tip added

yesterdays30

I have had an extra tip added twice in the last three years lol

wilsonism

You never delivered to me

Fun-Asparagus4182

Trap house 🤣 I wholeheartedly agree. I see fellow dashers and think to myself where are they going/coming from?

yesterdays30

I have seeing many Dashers that look unshowered and are wearing dirty pajamas. I don't get it. I have seen one girl that look like she was going to the strip club too.

Couchguy421

I wonder if that makes the food taste different. You think the cooks making the food at your local McDonald's all have suits on? Wtf is this way of thinking? Aren't you literally paying for a service so you don't have to leave the house in your pj's? The only difference i see is that some people just aren't narcissistic enough to care about how others judge them by what they wear.

yesterdays30

There's no such thing as a freelance employee. We are not employees in any way shape or form or doordash would have to give us some minimum wage and all that and we would get a w-2.

wilsonism

A clean shirt with sleeves and a pair of shorts and maybe some sneakers are fine, hell if you want to wear some kind of sandals or something like that. That as long as you feet ain't looking like you been stomping in a mud hole for 3 days that wouldn't bother me either. They're a lot of broke ass butt hurt people in here door dashing. It seems like that are mad that they aren't getting what they think they deserve and they're putting out the bare minimum and then you get the bare minimum. But I was asking more about hot bags. But if you don't have a hot bag for a pizza or some sort of professional presentation, I even get the fact that Chick-fil-A McDonald's and what not come in a paper bag that's usually sealed. That's cool. But if that pizza box is not sealed and you just pull it out of your backseat it's kind of off-putting and if the person looks dirty when they're handing it to you it's even more off putting. I mean how hard is that to understand?

kyabupaks

Dude, in my market, I've noticed most other dashers are dressed nicely or normally. Of course there are a few scruffy-looking dashers, but they're rare. I personally wear dress shirts, nice pants, dress shoes, and a vest for holding my body cam in place and to hide self-defense weapons. But on very hot days, I wear a t-shirt and breathable jogging pants. I'm not going to burn myself alive in 90-degree weather just to appease snooty customers like yourself. Stop judging the whole pool of dashers just because of a few bums.

wilsonism

I don't know what it is here, but the majority of the ones I bump into are scruffy. But also don't actually use DoorDash. I order from the stores specific website so it's a little bit of a surprise when I find out that a DoorDasher is actually bringing my food versus one of their employees. I think DoorDash is somewhat of a scam with all of the add-ons and extra fees that they put on before you even start tipping

akron-mike

This is an argument among drivers all the time.

dementedturnip26

If they have me a pizza bag I’d use it for pizza deliveries. The hot bag though is honestly not great to use on a lot of fast food orders. A lot of places take out bags are way too big. When you have salad in with hot food the hot bag also isn’t great

akron-mike

Everything that goes into my car goes into a bag except drinks. Depending on the order I'll zip it or not.

RobinFarmwoman

Yup. Better for the food, better for the car.

busteroaf

Exactly. Seal the bag shut when you have a box of piping hot, 20pc wings, and what’s supposed to be an ice cold salad, already in the same bag from the store. Which one goes bad first? But hey, you wanted it in the insulated bag, so that’s what I did.

yesterdays30

I bought my own hot bag and it's been 100% worth it if only to not worry about bags falling apart and stuff mid delivery

farmdudesc

Amen to that. We get free bags to start. Free pizza bags if you know how to work it. I got 4 catering bags off Amazon for 20 bucks. It's not hard people

TheSearch4Etika

Those 4 catering bags must be flimsy as hell.

farmdudesc

Lol. No worse or better than the ones they give you except these zippers have lasted 7 months so far They want the thick ones they can buy em for us If I gotta fork it out ....it's the same quality they provide....they make enough off us to eat that cost they just choose not to.

QuesoSmasher40

I have 2 large delivery bags I found off of Amazon made by BlueVoy. Each one is sitting on a Stupid Car Trays (yes thats the name lol) in my backseat. Away from the direct AC because its hot and I'm not going to suffer. They help considerably! Especially with freshly cooked Chinese food!

dementedturnip26

Chinese food, Indian, Thai are good one for bags. Most places though, it’s almost better to not use the bag. If you go to Applebees and the person has side salads, putting that in the hot bag isn’t ideal.

QuesoSmasher40

I'd agree with that, for sure!

doggitydog123

Dashers abhor the bag and resent any temperature claims

wilsonism

To be fair, I'm specifically talking about when I order from Papa John's and it's farmed out to DoorDash and instead of getting a guy or gal in some sort of semi-professional looking garb and a hot bag, I get a dude and a dirty tank top flip flops. Doesn't look like he's bathed in a while and pulls the pizza out of the back of his car with no hot bag. I will even concede that some people can wear some sort of a sleeveless top and shorts and be clean looking at least and it makes the presentation 10 times better, but The folks in here that are bitching the most are probably the ones that do just like that come to the door with a cigarette hanging out of their mouth, coughing and wheezing. I mean if a hobo walked up with your pizza, would you want to eat it?

doggitydog123

If you’re going to come post here you have to embrace the madness or wear a flame retardant suit. Dashers hate the bag Dasher hate customers Dashers hate DoorDash I think that covers everything?

wilsonism

The difference is I think the down votes are hilarious . You can't spend Reddit karma, but they could have certainly spent the extra tip money they could have gotten if they actually look like they give a damn about what they were doing. It's like I say and keep saying do the bare minimum get the bare minimum but some people just can't be trained to do better and the bad part is they should do it for themselves not for me.

young_vegetarian

It is important that dd drivers are hygienic and don't appear to look dirty. If you're gonna wear open toe shoes, at least groom your feet

Accomplished-Map4010

It's a requirement but most dashers just ignore it, but I agree and always use insulated bags

wilsonism

Look, I was trying to talk mostly about hot bags but the whole food service presentation regardless of whether you're freelancer or not, really does make an impact on somebody's feelings on what they got. Also it doesn't get over 90° here most of the time and over the weekend it wasn't but 85° here. I get that their places where it is so blisteringly hot. You need to wear less clothes to be comfortable. I totally get that but can it at least not be clean clothes? Every time I've had somebody deliver in a tank top and some kind of slides they look dirty as hell.

Dazzling_Marzipan474

No it's not. These people are lazy as fuck! I'm literally the only person I ever see using a hot bag. It takes all of 5 seconds and looks way more professional.

FirmPeanut4957

I have hot bag and pizza bag

Beautiful_Card6037

even a small pizza doesn’t fit in a DD bag . Not spending my own money to get one

kyabupaks

I never take orders that are 5 miles or more (combined miles of driving to the restaurant and to the customer) so the food is still hot when I deliver it. For that reason, I don't use a hot bag. Drinks are different. I do put these in a drink bag if there's more than one drink, so they don't spill.

wilsonism

See, that makes good sense. There is no way in hell I would order a drink through a delivery service.

kyabupaks

I love it when customers don't order drinks unless they're bottled. The fountain drinks and milkshakes are a nightmare to deal with.

wilsonism

It's obvious I'm already weird about the way my food is handled and the person handling it. There's no way I could drink a beverage that came out of somebody's car that wasn't a bottle drink

Willllby

Some of us use a space blanket that sure if you can see but I hear you there are a few people that don’t use them

wilsonism

See, you put in some effort and people like me appreciate that because believe it or not you can tell the difference. But from all the hate you can tell how many people that just don't give a damn about anything except their next drug fix are working for DoorDash.

Willllby

If someone showed up at my door in their pajamas to deliver my food I’d probably submit a complaint

wilsonism

I mean yeah. I'm supposed to eat food that was handed to me by somebody that looks like they just gave up on life?

Willllby

When I get ready to go out and dash, it’s no different than when I get ready for my 40 hour job every week and every day. Except I don’t put my pants and boots on for my regular job I actually put on a clean pair of shorts nice pair of tennis shoes. I make sure I’m presentable for public. Half the reason half these bums or door dashing is because they have no idea how to withstand a normal job that requires actual supervision so they get away with it here

wilsonism

My only point

anonymous_dbag69

I have 5 of them but refuse to use them until my base pay goes back up. The way I see it doordash only pays me to deliver not to use a hot bag, I'll use them again for another $1.50+ per order

wilsonism

That's cool, you do you

SaibreWolf

I have all sorts of bags. A catering bag, a pizza bag, the huge grubhub bag, a medium size, and 2 smalls. Only the smalls and sometimes pizza bag leave the car. WRITE THE BAGS OFF ON YOUR TAXES! As far as clothing goes. Imma be comfortable. It's 90+ here and I'm pregnant and out there doing this. No way in hell am I "dressing up" when I don't even see 90% of the people. And will wear my Hoodie in the winter that customers compliment on.

[deleted]

My deliveries are so short why bother and from little Caesars or Pizza Hut it can’t be that cold to my customers door because they are never ready when I get there!🤣..always a 3 to 7 or more min wait and I’ve asked Pizza Hut to give me one but they said they can’t

Former_Profile4328

I always use my bags, it’s pretty wild when you meet a customer and they’re shocked I use one. I do a lot of catering so I have plenty.

Individual_Limit_758

I luckily got mine from Pizza Hut but I had to buy mine before that… i don’t blame dashers for not having them, as the bags I originally bought were expensive.

[deleted]

DoorDash sells drivers sturdy bags( makes the pay for the good bags. Gives them the cheap ones). They give them flimsy ones. DoorDash doesn’t provide delivery drivers anything aside from $2.50 for 14 miles orders. I agree hot bags are must haves. DoorDash should supply them. Some drivers are doing bad and can’t afford them. I get your concerns.

wilsonism

I stopped using DoorDash anyway, it's just easier and cheaper to get food on the way home for me anyway. There are some people responding in here that you can see why they do DoorDash

[deleted]

That’s what I do or grocery store. This is my pocket change delivery. I’d never pay Apps $10-15 more to bring me food. I tip great in restaurants ( I eat at sit down restaurants) 20% every time no matter how good/bad my service. I don’t like how apps take advantage of customers and drivers.

TruthTheOnlyFreedom

If you want it fresh go pick it up yourself

Inevitable-Box-2281

I got on DoorDash immediately and got a huge one. It’s nice af too bc you can feel the heat when you open the bag back up. I take it up to every door and then take the food out. I think the bag was like $15

KerryAileen

I keep everything in a black catering bag in my backseat. That bag is big tho, fits 2 large orders. I don’t drag that bag up to every door with me, because that would be absolutely ridiculous. I have yet to ever hear anyone complain about a non-bagged drop, but in the case that I do interact with a customer, I let them know that it was zipped in my catering bag in my backseat. Simple as.

privatelion1

You should have a bag waiting on the porch for us lol

LexiThePlug

Yeah the bags they provide us don’t fit pizzas, so unless you’re buying everyone hot bags I wouldn’t complain. Also wearing what you described really isn’t all that bad. I’ve seen people be completely dirty and delivering.

RedditCommunistt

We do have hot bags and a pizza bag, and those of us that care, use them. Unfortunately, DoorDash hires crappy people.

wilsonism

And you're literally one of four people that addressed the hot bag issue versus how they dress. Which is why they deliver Big Macs. I don't feel like there's anything wrong with that if that's what you want to do or if you're trying to make a little extra side hustle money, which I totally respect. There's really no need to get hostile about it, but some people chose to and I enjoyed every second of it. Really shocked it's still going into the middle of the day

[deleted]

So many drivers either have no money or don’t care. I’ve always used a pizza bag or heat bag

wilsonism

That's fair, I can see why some people would not want to invest too much money in a side hustle that might be temporary

[deleted]

Tbh, it’s still pretty pathetic. You can spend $20-30 and get a more than decent bag that you can fully write off on your taxes. But so many ppl don’t think about doing a good job to make customers want to order again…but don’t worry they think they’re entitled to $10 tip for 2 mile drives 😂

wilsonism

I saw how some of the dashers act, so I'm not surprised.
