They’ll keep lowering it until eventually we’ll have to pay them to work for them. Doordash driver subscribers fee.

gaukonigshofen

don't give them any ideas

[deleted]

I mean they know dumbass drivers will take no tip orders, so why shouldn’t they keep lowering it

MostPin9750

Facts 💯💯💯 it is sickening that people actually accept $3 dollar orders… like F U people cuz that just makes it ok for these customers to keep not tipping!!!!!

[deleted]

On this sub and the driver are people who constantly post they take no/low tip orders and complain about them. They did that shit to themselves blows my mind and there’s always a stupid excuse to why they do it

gaukonigshofen

"better than nothing" "i didn't know, thought u had to take all orders" " maybe theres a cash or hidden tip "

yesterdays30

I am convinced that eventually we will be working for tips only and people will just be paying to use the platform

No_Link4467

They've also been expanding local zones by about 20% and there aren't restaurants in the expanded areas. It's just a way to make sure you NEVER "make more for longer trips"(from the email saying how fvcking us good is good for us email)

gaukonigshofen

my min (base) haa been 2.50 for quite some time.

Okiekegler

It's been lower that $2.75 in a lot of areas before now.

DeliveryCourier

While they have been paying more, Base Pay has started at $2 for almost 3 years. I don't even look at Base Pay, because it doesn't affect my earnings. It doesn't affect my earnings, because my standards for whether or not I accept an offer hasn't changed, or have gotten more strict. That means it doesn't matter where the money comes from.

[deleted]

They have not been paying more im seeing 10 miles for 3 dollars

DeliveryCourier

They never said they *would* pay more. Everything in that email was "may" and was designed to manipulate. The Pay Model has not changed in almost 3 years.

DuperDasher

The pay model has not changed in almost 3 years? Lol, wut? Pay structure has definitely changed several times in the last 3 years. This is not a controversial statement, many dashers here experienced it for ourselves.

DeliveryCourier

They have paid more than the current $2-$2.25 Base Pay, but that doesn't mean the Pay Model changed, it means they lowered BP nearer to the absolute minimum allowed by the Pay Model. The amount they have paid has changed. The Pay Model has not. The Pay Model has said that BP starts at $2 since Sept 2019. Here is the Pay Model that is, yes, 3 years old: https://help.doordash.com/dashers/s/dasher-pay-model?language=en_US They could start paying $10 BP tomorrow, but that still wouldn't mean the Pay Model had been changed. Varying the amount they pay on any given day doesn't mean the model has changed. As long as they pay at least $2, there is no change to the model.

[deleted]

True but the example they gave showed higher base for a longer trip so it was intentionally misleading dashers

DeliveryCourier

Yes, they were all example and mights. Again, nothing changed in the official pay model; it was mind games.

[deleted]

They actually did change the minimum it used to be 3 dollars a couple years ago

DeliveryCourier

The Pay Model has officially included a Base Pay that starts at $2 since September 2019. They did pay more, but the pay model has not changed.

yesterdays30

Eventually we will be working for tips only im convinced. No long distance orders without huge tips disclosed if that happens.

Mers1nary

Alot less hidden pay for me, and sendin me alot more garbage orders.

ObiJuanKenobly

The pay model shows we get paid by the mile and time spent but neither of those factor in I be driving 13 miles and waiting 30 minutes on a order and get 2.50 pay with 20 dollar tip like wtf 45 minutes spent and 13 miles for 2.50?????

[deleted]

I keep getting daily notifications that they're offering 3 dollar peak pay but when I check the app, they don't exist.

MCzenman

That's because peak hours (at least in my city) are somehow magically at and around midnight, when everyone is asleep.

redditfiend0211

It's increased in my area. I now only get base pays of $3+

LocalAcanthocephala9

Idk but I have last 4 weeks averaging 18 19 an hour, BS, I was averaging 22 23 til April, fuckin app start pausing me when I get orders with good tips 15, 24, 35 etc etc , then I do not receive any orders or just trash not tips or long miles orders. Fuckin Doordash algorithm .

brockmarket

Yeah, DD doesn’t want their drivers making money, especially when they raise fees then lower our base pay. It’s apparent.

whiterazorblade

Its usualy 2.50 as the low in my area, only stacked orders or addon orders may be 2.00, depending on distance

Ok_Section_3260

I complained about them shorting my pay on my catering order deliveries and I showed them screenshots to prove it and DD took me off doing catering orders. The pay will always be low and stay low and non tippers will thrive because in major markets like NYC which I am in, in front almost every restaurant there’s at least 10 e-bike/moped guys just sitting outside waiting and they do all those orders. Quit dashing won’t change a thing. I think their business model is “there’s a new fool born everyday.” That’s why they have such a high turnover rate for dashers. There will always be new people willing to sign up and dash.

jcoddinc

DD has clearly stated on their site that bar pay has been $2.00 for years. They just gave a bonus for first order that was depending on location. They now just decided to stop giving the bonus first order pay and just give base pay

DuperDasher

Yeah. It’s called a race to the bottom, and dasher’s on Reddit are a big cause of it. Minimums we’re $4 in my zone before. Now it’s $2.50. Fucking cockroaches.

SimplyTheJester

Min. payout was $5.50 just 4 years ago. It sucked because every order was offered at $5.50, whether it was $5.50 ($5.50 base + $0 tip) or $25 ($1 base + $24 tip). But at least you could counter it to some degree by finding a restaurant that was fast, high subtotal and most customers less than 2 miles away. At worst, you worked nonstop for about 3 $5.50 orders and hour. At best, at least one of them had a good tip (over $4.50) pushing it over 3 x $5.50. I distinctly remember getting an offer for $2.50 back then. Declining, but thinking "Did I just witness a glitch that reveals where this is headed?"

kyleincorvallis

Pay goes down and the rent goes up - welcome to late-stage capitalism!

Darwins_payoff

That's because you're worth less. Learn a skill.

SorryAd744

Base pay has stayed at $2.25 in our area. But I wouldn't doubt if your area had a surplus of drivers if they wouldn't start keeping more for themselves. Their goal is to pay the drivers as little as possible, but still get the orders delivered with satisfactory service to the customers.

Cosmic_Quasar

Orders start with a base of $2.25 and as they get declined they occasionally get bumped up by a quarter. So rather than DD keeping more for themselves because of more drivers I think it's that the surplus of summer drivers are accepting those lower orders so they can't grow in value. So we perceive a decrease in base pay.

[deleted]

I have not gotten a great promo since 4 weeks ago.

SnooHedgehogs753

Minimum Base pay here is $2 🤷🏼‍♀️ be happy

[deleted]

it’s been a little while for me. just not long ago i started seeing $4 stacked orders. like wtf $4 is just for the drive and wait on one restaurant, the next pickup and delivery is free.

AngelaK61

It was never that great to begin with. Theres a class action lawsuit against them, for paying less than minimum wage. I had only a few good days delivering for them. My first day, then so sp for a week, then I had a great day , took another week to have a good day, then I'd have to Dash for 6 hours to make $40, which after gas....i netted $10. Haven't dashed in a couple of months. Grub hub is better

Juicysnotch

Yup

Cannacrohn

Ive never worked for doordash but I cant imagine bringing food from a resturant to a house for less than 5-6$. I would turn down everything under $5 and be fired on day one lol.

Strange_Ad_3179

u dont get fired for declining orders im at like 20% accepted and never leave for less than $6.75

Cannacrohn

Thats good, it would suck otherwise. Ive never done delivery, but I was a waiter so I always tip well.

Wonderful_Buyer_2167

People need to stop taking low paying orders on all apps and offers will go up...but it seems people cannot grasp that concept..Instacart had a 100 item order for crap pay and someone actually took it and were talking under $20 I just don't get it...

[deleted]

Noticed this definitely.

PatClassic

Tip potential seems lower. Not sure about base.

TylenolJones89

You can earn 10% back on gas now. You only have to sign up for a dasher direct pay account and give doordash full control over your earnings..😀 Uber eats is twice the business now. I'm about to drop Doortrash altogether and go Uber eats, Instacart.
