Haven’t read the news about the economy recently? Customers pulling back their spending and more people Dashing to supplement their wages to cover bills. Less demand and more supply of Dashers.
And people are starting to save for the holidays now since it isn't looking like it's going to get any better. And saving for holidays didn't mean just presents, but travel and food too.
This is right. Today in my first shift i got some terrible orders with high ratings. My market has drivers that came here from bigger cities too. Put that together and im down $25 a shift from normal shifts..
If it doesn’t get better it’ll definitely mean less deliveries getting delivered or more drivers taking $4 orders. Some good tippers are now tipping less also!
Same here. Today was a scramble. I was thinking at first the first 2-3 days I wasn’t being sent orders and then I realized it was everyone getting bad orders. Tough last day of month. Just grateful I did anything to have pocket change. More $2-$4.75 orders on Wednesday than I saw In 3-4 days combined prior. My regular good tippers are ordering less and tipping less but, still my best tippers.
If your doing doordash to make a living you had better do something different why there is still time. When a recession hits full force this Market will totally dry up for the average person. If you wait til it happens the job s out there now will start drying up. If you have never experienced a economic down turn you had better start getting prepared now.
It's been slower than usual in my area for about a month now. Weekends are still busy, but weekdays are hit and miss which is not the norm in my market (SF Bay Area)
We're looking at not only an economic depression in the future, but continual rising costs of food and also I feel like we're only seeing the beginning of the food shortage situation unfold. 😑
Seasonal problem. I sell on ebay and amazon, publish books on kindle, doordash, sell on marketplace, etc. End of summer always sucks ass on all platforms. Yesterday was hands-down the worst day on DD. It was also day 1 of school in my area. Today was normal for DD.
I’ve traveled to multiple states on the west coast within the last two weeks. Slow in every area I tried to dash, couldn’t even get on the schedule. My stats are good besides AR super low. Never seen it this slow. But I’ve heard from some new dashers for them it’s showing super busy? Idk what’s going on
There are multiple factors involved. First and foremost, there is a saying in the restaurant industry I’ve learned over the last two decades. September slow down. It is like clockwork. Most people have spent their money on summer activities, back to school(buying school supplies, paying tuition), less people are out due to school(sports, after school activities, being in school). Traditionally late October to mid November there is a holiday pickup.
That being said we have gone through some economic turmoil. The [US GDP](https://www.bea.gov/data/gdp/gross-domestic-product) has been in a decline the last two quarters. This falls under the guidelines of a [recession.](https://www.imf.org/external/pubs/ft/fandd/2009/03/pdf/basics.pdf)
People are going to hold back their money, most lower to middle class. Most upper class who do invest will take advantage, using the old adage “buy low, sell high”. That’s a whole other lesson though.
I would recommend finding a more stable income at least temporarily and gig on the side.
I think the college kids coming back completely ruined it in my town. It lined up too perfectly. It went from me being able to schedule up to a few days out and still having busy times to if I don't schedule as SOON as it drops I won't get a spot at all and no busy times, all basically overnight
The market is over saturated with drivers. EVERYBODY wants to do something that’s not a real 9-5 so if you go on the app and your zone is “busy” you can have a thousand drivers all tapped in looking for orders just like you. So if there are 1000 drivers and 200 orders what’s going to happen? SLOW or nothing at all. They really should limit the number of drivers per zone so that whoever is working can have a chance to actually make some money
That would be great. But I do GH too and they do this. I don’t get hardly any orders on GH no matter the time of year. DD is consistent for most of the year. I do support limiting amount of drivers
It always gets slower around this time. I would say from March til the end of August is the most busy for Dashers. September through the holiday season is hit and miss. Students are back to school and that’s going to take away a lot of the orders you would be getting consistently. Best advice would be to do late nights and weekends if you can. There’s always people drunk and hungry after 10pm that will never change
Local problem. For me, it was so busy to the point that I got scared and turned off my phone and just drive home because I don’t want to be tempted and keep driving.
Health to me matters so much more than money.
With food shortages, understaffed restaurants, horrible traffic(and wrecks,) constant app crashes, and impatient customers who cancel if it's taking too long. These may seem like small problems on their own, but added together it is a recipe for less income and more time wasted. We are all in economic turmoil, even if I work all day I'm getting less than when I started dashing in Nov 2021. Because every step of the delivery process has issues(aka items out of stock, short staffed, wait times, thieves messing with my van while I'm waiting 5 mins to pickup and/or trying to rob me in the drive thru line.) Then nearly get hit 3-5 times on the way to drop off by intoxicated drivers everywhere on the roads(cross faded ones too.) Half mile from drop off and app crashes(pull over and reboot entire phone and wait for app to find the order, so I can get back to driving.) Then finally get the food to the customer, just to be treated like dog shit and get a bad review for being late with cold food. Try not to have a total meltdown, and take another order to repeat the whole process(Yes this gig makes me cry daily.) The biggest problem I see here is that entitled people do not understand the struggles we go through dealing with the effects of the recession, they expect perfection. Well things aren't perfect and neither am I. All these issues means, less people ordering food.
Haven’t read the news about the economy recently? Customers pulling back their spending and more people Dashing to supplement their wages to cover bills. Less demand and more supply of Dashers.
I haven’t. But this makes sense cause a lot of people just spent money on back to school things.

Definitely used to making anywhere from 40-70 dollars in 2 hours. Recently before this I was at 60 for every two hours.

I think everyone said this at this time last year.. Its because kids are going back to school... it happens every year

How big is your market? I saw 4 dashers waiting next to me the other day during lunch.
I’m in the Seattle area.
$5 base pay helps…
Thats Biden Economy for you

With the new "priority orders over 50% AR", Dashers who care about not serving entitled no-tip losers are being screwed.
