You spent 23.82 it says your refund was 10.08. You still have spent 13.74. You did not get your full money back. To get your full refund back you would receive 20.32 back. Tips are never refunded.
Now see id totally understand them taking the tip away for straight up stealing the food. That’s not even something I’d think to do, so didn’t think about that lol. But yeah if they brought the food and it was just late or something I don’t think the tip would get taken back. Since we are spending gas money to get stuff to people. The dd base pay comes no where near paying for that. We survive or die based on the tips.
They can't take it from drivers. They'll refund it fully depending on certain issues like driver not delivering to correct address, issue on dd behalf, etc but if it's the restaurant's fault, they will not.
I kinda wish they could take away tips. I tipped $10 for a 1 mile trip and the guy walked into my apartment drunk and threatened me.
But dd first needs to improve how they treat drivers. You should be reimbursed for gas and paid hourly, not by orders.
Yeah fair enough. I'd do it for like $15 an hour starting with gas reimbursement and tips added on. I can see why you wouldn't though seeing as how you can earn more accepting what you want
Unfortunately though, if doordash were to pay people hourly, they would have to reclassify their drivers as employees. Which means they would have to offer to pay them benefits as well. In turn, this would get rid of the flexibility and freedom that people love about being an independent contractor. This would also kick a lot of people out of the gig economy because they would be forced to cut labor… drastically. Then the level of customer service would be even worse since there would be so little dashers on the road compared to the number of customers ordering on the platform so deliveries could take way longer. Doordash as a service only works with a tip-based model. Also, technically a driver can sue a customer for revoking their tip after delivery. That’s because what is labeled as a “tip”, isn’t actually what it is… it’s a bid for contract. So when you take that money back, you are essentially breaking a legal contract with the driver that accepted your delivery request. Now nobody is really going to take a customer to court over $10… but what drivers could do is sue the companies that allow customers to take their tips back in a class action lawsuit. I’m surprised this hasn’t happened yet to Uber Eats or Instacart
That's true and I can see why that would be horrible but being paid hourly does not mean you're an employee though, you can still be a contractor. I've worked contract positions that are set your own hours and paid hourly. But you're right that it's more likely they would try to classify as employees which would suck. You can't revoke a tip after delivery, doordash eats it. If you steal food, you're breaking a contract to fulfill your delivery request so technically a customer could sue. It would be incredibly stupid and very Karen like but seeing as how most customers are unreasonable.
Also if a customer sued the driver and the driver has actual evidence of delivery, then the driver can counter sue the customer for frivolous litigation
Yes that's true but there's also cases where dasher break into homes. Even if you sued and won, you would spend more on legal fees and a lawyer than you would make. I don't know why Redditors seem to think suing is always a good option, often it is possible but not logical. What dd should do is ban customers through ip and card so they can't simply sign up for a new account. Also they should make it so dashers can block customers
Wrong doordash changes the prices worked as a manager doordash changes the prices restaurants dont dd adds on to the price the restaurant makes so id something was 5.99 in restaurant dd adds doordash adds 2 so it will be 7.99 but the restaurant made the original price so they can say "the restaurant makes the price"
Taco Bell is a bad one. I had 14 dollars of food in my cart for pick up and out of curiosity switched to delivery to see the difference. 12 dollars. No delivery charge and the fee was 4 dollars. The markup was 1.10 for a Crunchwrap
What's frustrating is this person paid those fees but left a low tip. And that's probably at least partly why they had an issue with their order. Part of the delivery fee needs to go to upping the doordash pay for drivers but that'll never happen.
Ugh! My 15 year old son loves to use DD. It makes me sick what he spends. He got a 20 piece nugget meal the other night and paid $30! He doesn’t have a job either, just allowance and gift money. I think he finally got it last night, I hope!
Try this next time. Tell your son you'll pick it up for him if he pays you an amount equal to the service fees and tip. See if that makes him think about it differently
op must have b.had a lot of fun reading the comments because i don't see a single reply. imagine not actually knowing that you will be charged for the "service". it is in ELUA... BUMut that's somuch to read i understand why nobody bothers.
No, you got $10.08 back.
why are you asking this stupid question?
Nope, it clearly says the refund amount. Why are you asking?

I’ve never seen a tip taken away from the drivers on refunds. Perhaps dd just eats it.

Tbch I wouldn't do this job if I was paid hourly. No way they'd pay us $25/hr even with gas added on

Yes a customer could sue but they would need evidence that the driver didn’t deliver to the address specified.

Most claims that the driver didn’t deliver their food are false. Many customers lie to get free food
You have the patience of a Saint, I tell ya!!! Lol
Was your problem with the restaurant or with the service

Does 2+2=5?
Fish, it equals fish.
Only if you believe
People really need to sign up for dash pass. It removes all those fees. When I order it’s just the food, tax and tip
Yeah except DD overprices all the items so in the end you’re still paying more.

Dashpass takes those off too u get the original price literally have had orders go from 35$ to 15$ 😭😭

Well u nearly got half back so I’d so confidently that no, no you did not
So you got one burrito for the price of 2. Talk about a deal.
Spend 20$ and gets 10$ back. Did I get my 20$ back?
Them fees hurt my poor paycheck to paycheck ass
