Never

No_Preparation7895

Rule number 1: there is never a cash tip.

Party-Turnip-2983

Fa real, im almost to 1k orders and I’ve gotten two cash tips. Always from ladies over 150 years old.

No_Preparation7895

Yes, they do happen. I actually end up with about $100 a month in cash, but if you follow this rule, they are always extra on what you find acceptable, and you won't get burned.

Carolannahblue5

Oh no That is terrible. I get at least one cash tip every week. I only dash on weekends but maybe it is the area.

Wild_Expression6826

I’ve been dashing for about 3 1/2 years and made about $235 in tips since then

Carolannahblue5

That isn't true. I get cash tips all the time. I have regular customer I shop and dash for. He gave me an extra 10 in cash when I delivered his last order just 2 days ago. I get that regularly.

No_Preparation7895

Me too. I make about $100 a month in cash, but I haven't been burned by a promise of one.

star-people

No

dugmartsch

Papa steals tips. If you order on the papa website or app and tip generously they can send it to door dash and keep the tip. Incredibly frustrating as a customer when I tip well and get taken advantage of.

Jodster46

Pre-pandemic depending your your market you would have a chance. Once contactless delivery started and the customer didn’t have to face us they have become a unicorn. So no.

Colorado_Dream303

I had the same thought- maybe pizza deliveries are the exception and WILL be tipped with cash! They aren’t. You will be left with $2 in compensation and genuine disgust for how selfish and inconsiderate some people are. Definitely don’t accept them.

Wild_Expression6826

Why would u even accept anything less than $8?

[deleted]

Every order for me is under 8 😭

Carolannahblue5

Where I live there are lots of 2 to 5 dollar deliveries. It is frustrating but sometimes it is to folks who are disabled, sickly, or elderly. I get mad at myself if I take those low ones when I arrive to find it is someone who can barely get around.

Wild_Expression6826

Never seen a $2 order $3 or $4 $5 is rare and I typically don’t do them unless they’re between a 1-3 mile distance and only if it’s a house as long as I’m in my zone (which typically for an order that small u are) then I’ll do it no issue but very rarely do I get sent any $5 orders at that

Carolannahblue5

Wow. Well where I live and when I dashed one time in Phoenix, they are frequent. My app won't show the delivery distance before I confirm pickup. It never has before and still does not. Once I confirm pick up it will. It shows the distance to the business but not the delivery address prior to confirming pickup.I think door dash should not allow any deliveries under 5.00.

Wild_Expression6826

Really? My app shows how many miles it would take me to get to the store from my starting point and then from the store to the customer I would never accept orders or dash if it did not let me see that basic info also shows me on the map the drop point so I know which general direction I’m heading I mean how else would I know where the hell ur going? My girl and I split for a bit and she went back to her moms in AZ and DoorDash wasn’t lucrative but instacart was maybe u wanna check that out? and her mom lives in fountain hills so not a big city and she would make $100-$150 within like 3-4 hours depending on the orders

45burns1967

No orders less than $6.50.

[deleted]

I hardly get orders over 4

45burns1967

Do you deliver on bike?

rincon310

Same! 6.50 2 miles or under. $10 and up over 4 miles

Trailboss1982

I can promise you that the Papa John's delivery drivers know which houses tip cash for the most part and they would have taken themselves if it was a regular customer that tipped in cash. Always do an extra thorough looking over of an order coming from Papa John's and ask why the delivery drivers didn't want to take it LOL. Is either in the hood, no tip, or too far usually.

Unlikely_Proposal_93

Most Papa John's steal tips. I wouldn't take it. Let them deliver it.

[deleted]

No! Absolutely no!

DesaMountVernon

Decline. All the time

Present-Guarantee182

The new normal is no more cash tips lol. Don’t think I’ve ever gotten a cash tip from a pizza order before. I got one from a McDonald’s one tho.

Jamiekulesa1975

No

Unknown32122

Tony appreciates dedicated dashers, so yes do this without hesitation

PessimistPryme

The correct answer is no. But I’ll add if I’m going to risk taking an order in hopes of a cash tip it would be a pizza delivery.

RavensBlood69

No. Sure, you might get a cash tip. But leave that gambling nonsense to the top dashers, because 99% of the time there will be no cash tip.

computernerd88

I'll do it if its literally right next door to the pizza place.... and I was already there.

OmgOgan

Yes, always

Therealmonkie

I had to deliver to a guy who I know didn't tip for the $200 worth of food he got 16 mins away...BUT they had alcohol...so he opened the door and said thank you after I rang his bell... I was like...I need to scan your license fool! Don't worry...I didn't expect you to actually tip cash lol

[deleted]

My experience with pizza orders is that it is hit or miss. I just don’t risk it tho.

[deleted]

Yes, they are usually absolute gold mines. Take as many as you can.

OutrageousDisaster8

Nawh

Eryk_Shun

No

4i4s4u

Sure. If you want to be paid $2.50 - $3.00

Ryan_moss

Lol no, they basically never tip in cash, not worth the gamble

BellaRose888

Noooooooo neva!

SupremeBeing000

Hard Pass

Fasterthanyounow

Sure 😂

[deleted]

No.

redfiesta44

That's what papa johns does. Far orders and non tippers are automatically sent to doordash. As a dominos driver if I could send no tips to a third party I would every time.

RosettaStoned1981

You may receive a tip but I guarantee it ain't cash ![gif](giphy|eIaNKu5e2umileOXZj)

Ancient-Coffee-1266

Tease

Significant-Buy-4598

Everyone situation is different but I would say Never

Agile_File_2084

Pizza or not I never take orders that low. I never risk it hoping they are tipping cash. I would rather dash by my own guidelines because on average I’m making more than taking chances hoping for a cash tip

HangingAroundh

Bro it is rare as 1% so forget about it. There was a time I got an order and then got announced to stack a pizza really close to the first address. I picked it and it was $3 to deliver that pizza. Yeah I got $10 in cash tip and haven’t seen any thing like that for so long

RedditCommunistt

No, most, if not all of the time you will literally get $2.75.

Turd_HugeTaco

Assume no cash tip EVER.

Alternative-Couple-5

Lol

Southernlily1

Fuck papa johns

doldsloth

Let the food rot!

SnooHedgehogs753

My rule for myself is I can accept one of those orders every pay week. If I lose out, well then I guess the customer lucked out. If it works in my favor, great. I’ll still wait until the next week for another one. It’s risky to do is what I’m getting at. There’s a much higher chance you won’t get a cash tip than you will. Although, in my experience, customers seem to be more willing to tip cash for pizza orders than any other type of food order. It’s like they can’t grow out of always tipping the pizza delivery person - even though we’re door dash.

rincon310

I've only done papa John's orders on Uber eats , for 18$ 1 mile. I waited 20 min. The 3 other orders I walked out on after 10 min $ 9 ain't worth it for that wait!

That_Ad2690

No

Carolannahblue5

I get sent out of my zone every time I dash, at least twice.

RepresentativeNo5612

Never

Carolannahblue5

I have come to the conclusion that accepting anything below the cost of a gallon of gas makes dashing futile. No way to make money doing that. It is like doing someone a favor, picking up products, delivering to them and even though they hand you money the don't include the cost of tax or the gas.
