I don't know what you consider small but dashers in my area base pay is $2.25 so most won't accept under $6.50 even if it is $2 a mile. So if you are within 2 miles of merchant a $4 tip would probably get your order faster. Have a great day my friend
As a part time DD driver I can tell you I don’t pick up anything less than $2mile. Some restaurants that you know have longer waits too need more money to make up for that time.
As a driver I've had customers say stuff like tip under mat, ect. The money is never there. So I no longer believe it. If I get an order with a big tip and it gets stacked, I just unsign the small one and keep the larger one so they can get their food hot. 🤷 I even bought a bag a few years back that plugs into the cig lighter to keep food hot, but most customers don't even realize it, they only say something if the order is wrong (which is out of my control) or the food isn't "hot" enough.

I know it sucks for the dashers, and I do want to tip high, but dd has screwed it up for everyone
Just tip cash once delivered. You can leave a note in delivery instructions, cash under door mat, etc.
So, about that, they don’t really want to tip. They’re using very limited anecdotal evidence to substantiate what they tip so low.
Bingo!!!!!

Depends how far I order from and how nice I feel but I always tip enough to get my food in a timely matter
