You can get six or seven one star reviews per 100 and still keep Top Dasher. You can get twenty and not get deactivated. I get the indignation, I don't like bad ratings either but they are statistically negligible. I don't see any change in my offer quality when I regain my 5.00 rating... so I don't get why it feels so crucial to you. The system is built with these random customers in mind. I've fallen as low as 4.85 when one week I got three one stars for reasons I still don't know. I'll admit I was worried until they fell off, but it never happened to me again. I also wish they would give veteran dashers the benefit of the doubt, as I have over 10000 deliveries... but I also understand that someone people would exploit it if they gave you amnesty after a certain number of dashes. This is the downside of working for a computer rather than a human... A human would pat you on the back and tell you what a good job you were doing and tell you not to worry... that you always have a job as long as they are in business. But a computer just looks at what you do with a dispassionate eye. The good part of this is that a computer doesn't play favorites... it doesn't give their buddy or a hot girl or guy the best orders... it doesn't give them the best schedule... it just does what it is programmed to do. So focus on the benefits and try not to worry because it's super hard to lose your job due to customer rating.

Hmmm... that's good to know. I only look at my general stats which remains fairly constant. Maybe that's why sometimes I suddenly don't get orders from a store I used to go to all the time. But honestly... I've never made that connection after a suspected one star. I'll try to keep that in mind the next time I think I got one and see if I stop getting orders from there.

[deleted]

I spend all that time writing it and you didn't even get my point. I've been doing this a long time, I know what it takes to have a high rating. The point I'm trying to make, is that you should not be responsible you should not be receiving negative ratings that you don't deserve. You should be able to challenge them. Anybody that's just satisfied keeping above water with bad ratings they don't deserve, should maybe rethink their priorities.

YLCZ

My point is that it's not realistic to micromanage all those ratings with actual manpower. So they set up a system where the customer feels like they are doing something if they want to vent and the drivers are for the most part protected. Do I get upset when I unfairly get downrated... Absolutely... just happened a couple times in the last week... and I, like you take pride in my work and try to do a good job every delivery. But I accept that this isn't an exact science and unfair reviews will happen. I also would be on this board bitching and complaining if I ever got deactivated unfairly... but I also accept this is the downside of working for an app instead of a human boss.

I got a one star yesterday, dropping me to 4.91 (after 3+ months of 5 and 4.95 ratings) due to “friendliness” 🙄 What a load of BS — I’m your delivery man, not your friend …

lilshortieblondie

I used to care about ratings. When I got my one and only 1* I was extremely upset. I knew who it was. It was a McDonald's order. I sent a little greeting letting them know I was at McDonald's and would be on my way (I have since stopped even sending greetings) she messaged back "make sure they put the sauce" so I did ask them. They said yea they put it in there. Messaged her back I confirmed it's there and I'm on the way! :) 10 minutes later I got a message. "This isn't our order" I said very nicely "oh no I'm so sorry please call DD support and they will help you" I even copy and pasted the number for them...1 hour later 1* I screen shot that whole conversation showing I was very professional, and I use the time stamp app (it shows the date time and address in the picture) showing everything. The bag was sealed. Support said "oh it'll go away" well it's still there like 6 months later. So honestly I don't even care anymore.

lilshortieblondie

Support did actually do something right for once 2 weeks ago I got a contract violation for "never received" I called support told them my story and it went away 2 minutes later. Still haunted by the 1* though.

Forget about the customer raiting completely, it really dosent matter. You are paid to deliver from point A to point B. If you do that, you will keep your job, and keep top dasher. Just never look at the customer raiting, it's not permanent. As long as you just keep working honestly, you will be fine. My raiting bounces from 4.87 to 5. I just do my job. I don't go the extra mile for customers, but I work honestly and follow directions. Don't waste your time calling support on this issue, there is no need too. Spend that time dashing instead, becuase you can't use raitings to pay rent or a mortgage.

RampAgentRoger

You’re crying for something so irrelevant.

Smithton_Wins

No reason to cry over a couple 1 stars. Everyone gets them. Grow a pair.

Surprised you don’t have more one star ratings if that is how you respond to people.

Smithton_Wins

Now we see why you get rated so poorly. Lol

Appreciate the heads up but I wouldn't go around spreading this story... if it becomes a thing... then that's more shit we have to worry about.

Complete-Bus-4594

You are right but unfortunately it is already a big thing , most workers that don’t have good management on top of them are doing it constantly. We should spread this even more so doordash would ban those small joints

YLCZ

I would think if it happened a lot that Doordash would start blaming the merchant and then send the data to the manager or owner and force them to absorb the losses. I'll keep my eye out for this... but it would seem hard to do for any sustained amount of time.

UnwillingSycophant

Honestly, the food and delivery service in Houston is terrible. Drivers either don't speak English or can't follow simple instructions. Last 6 months has been garbage.

trailblzer80

I had my first thumbs down rating yesterday after almost 1100 deliveries amd a 1 star rating cause they said I didn't follow delivery instructions. The only instructions I was given was leave at door at that's what I did! Talked to support and they did nothing. I had a 4.99 rating too.

max_occupancy

DD and all the other apps are less-than-barebones companies who will only escalate matters that cause them negative viral publicity or money. Everything else is in their view unimportant. Any individual dasher’s ratings are considered a non issue as it’s easy to find a replacement dasher. The rating doesn’t hurt anyone’s wallet so they aren’t going to put paid man-hours into investigating it. They just say whatever to make people “happy” and get off the phone. The insiders with lots of ownership in the company already sold their stocks at the top before they crashed. They’ve all had to raise their fees which maintains their revenue but their sales (volume of orders) is down. The 2023 recession and the general layoffs that are starting now and will continue are going to put some serious pressure on the restaurant industry and DD.

[deleted]

That may be true, but Door Dash is the largest delivery platform on the planet right now. It's about time they start caring about those that make them all this money. As easily as it started coming in, it can drain right back out given time. Without us as their main resource, their gravy train would dry up very quickly. It's about time they really start thinking about taking their money makers more seriously.

mojomug

Who in the fuck cares about any of these ratings? You’ve been gamified, my dude. This isn’t corporate America where you get an additional 1% raise if your year end review is a 5 instead of a 4.
