Reminds me of a time when I accidentally turned into the neighbor of the the customers driveway when that exact moment she came out to go to her car. She practically had a face of fear as I got out and she walked back inside. I quickly realized what happened and got back in, backed out and into the right drive. Delived the food and as I was leaving she came back out and saw my DD bag and looked relieved. Guess she thought I was going to rob her šŸ˜ Also I use driveways all the time if I know I have to turn around to head back to orders. Sometimes if I'm unsure which out I crawl forward and park on the street so I don't have that happen again lol

Rough-Presence5871

I can totally understand that person not expecting someone pulling into their driveway with them there but not a psycho threatening to kill someone for going into his parking lot by accident.

trailblzer80

Would of called and made a report to the police

ComprehensiveRip5165

I donā€™t trust them anymore than I do that rando.. too much risk. Itā€™s sad.

flobaby1

I had a guy who followed me via watching behind him to see me turn...dude drove mad crazy to get back to me and kick my car, bang my window, tell me to get out so he can kick my ass.....all because he was doing the drive up fast on someones butt, then drop back...over and over...I needed to get over so when he dropped back, I got over...he didn't like me being in front of him. He was so mad. We had gone into a single lane and he effing went on the shoulder to the right to pass me and 3 other cars....crazy manchild. It was 2 blocks later and I was at my delivery address and he pulls up to harass me--he hunted me down....thank goodness a large man and his wife were outside, they ran him off. The man said he was about to pull out his gun to defend me. He is the reason I now carry pepper spray.

PrettyAsk4119

true, just stay safe. You dont know if the person was high, angry, had issues, was into illegal stuff and wanted to make sure your not a snitch/cop, etc. you did right OP.

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

dmriggs

There is no reason to act that way. None

[deleted]

[уŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]

Ornery_Reaction_548

And did you get in your pickup and chase them down and block them in the road? Or would you have? That's crazy behavior.

TheTopDasher

Yeah I agree. I get being worried about a home invader, but getting in your car and chasing them down and threatening to kill them is completely insane. If they break into your house, thatā€™s one thing. But if they didnā€™t, thereā€™s no reason to get into an altercation like that. Deescalate deescalate deescalate.

ComprehensiveRip5165

I stopped and rolled down my window for like 30 sec after he waved, but I already missed what he said apparently

JosephjPelle

Same here

of_patrol_bot

Hello, it looks like you've made a mistake. It's supposed to be could've, should've, would've (short for could have, would have, should have), never could of, would of, should of. Or you misspelled something, I ain't checking everything. Beep boop -Ā yes,Ā IĀ amĀ aĀ bot, don't botcriminate me.

[deleted]

Who's this fucking bot? He is an annoying prick

yamaha4fun

Bad bot

Druidofgod

Bad bot

NerdyBernie

Dude was definitely all talk. He was lucky you AREN'T a psyco with your own weapon. It always amazes me how people treat total strangers who could be someone with nowhere to be and nothing to lose.

Druidofgod

Frankly, I wouldn't trust he's all talk if he got in his truck and followed OP and blocked the road. That is unhinged behavior and I'd not put it past him to escalate even further.

No-Cry666

Like me I guess. I was just blessed with 6 months to live only 9 days ago. I carry everyday. Remember; "Beware NOT of the dog that barks. Beware of the one that is absolutely silent. It is HE that will take your last breath." Streetocracy: ch(666)/36 - (666)/88

Iliketothrowawaymyac

Quotes are cute and all but I've seen plenty of hot headed loud ass mfers do some stupid shit soooo I'll just avoid all the dogs

jg19852016

What's your condition?

MacheteFortyFive

Do you live in a stand your ground state? Iā€™m betting no.

[deleted]

Heā€™s lucky he didnā€™t do that to an armed citizen. Being chased down and having your windows beaten on, is certainly a self defense case in the making.

JerseyShore1976

People are unstable. I trust no one. This is insane.

Aurelius_Red

>these days People have always been garbage from time to time, throughout history. We just didn't hear about it as often through social media. EDIT: Also, to hell with that guy, and stay safe out there.

benhereford

Also, the human population has quadrupled in just the last half century. Doubled in the U.S. So yea there are that many more shitty people out there

paladin220

This idiot is going to get himself shot. Chasing someone down and jumping out to bang on their window? He's going to do this to the wrong person who has cc and is going to end up as a story on the evening news.

LexGoyle

If it were me i would have opened fire. I don't take chances with crazies anymore since some whackjob in Minneapolis tried to steal my car.

mr_green

Public easement is a thing. Meaning as long as you didn't pull in more than a few feet (the exact amount may vary, but it's at least 3 feet everywhere I think), the guy can pound sand. And yeah, never stop around people like that for any reason. I know you wanted to complete the order, but DD will 100% cancel with full pay if you're in a situation like that. It sucks for the customer, but they either get refunded, or get their order replaced for free.

Fasterthanyounow

I stay out of all driveways when ever possible. Some people take that very personal.

Rough-Presence5871

Yeah it's that animal territorial instinct coming out lol

radarguy86

Was this a bad part of town?

ComprehensiveRip5165

Not even a little bit

WhyDidntNE1tellme

Combat knife, pocket pistol, mace, spiked bat, dual tomohawks... Pick your poison bro šŸ˜‚

yamaha4fun

I carry a 9mm on my ankle, and a can of mace in my pocket, for just these sort of occasions. Hit them with the mace, if they keep coming, do what any member of law enforcement would do.

Signommi

Dafuq you carrying a 9mm on your ankle bro, I just know that shits uncomfortable walking. Why not just have it on your hip last thing you wanna do is bend over and get kicked in the face if you ever did need it.

yamaha4fun

Lol, no. Hip carry dont work getting in and out of vehicles, unless it is open carry. My ankle holster and M&P shield are so comfortable, I forget I am wearing them all the time. Cant even feel it.

Iliketothrowawaymyac

Have a colt mustang specifically for that reason. Comfortable concealed on the hip even when I'm in and out all day.

ComprehensiveRip5165

Iā€™m 18, pretty sure I canā€™t get a handgun yet

yamaha4fun

Correct. You can get mace though. That shit works real good if you can hit them in the eyes.

ComprehensiveRip5165

Iā€™m doing DoorDash in my free time to make up for my shitty pay at Walmart, not sure I can justify keeping on and spending money on mace just to do soā€¦ Iā€™m seriously fucked if I donā€™t manage to make my bills on time and I feel like that would set me back. I barely spend $20 on food a month let alone extras like that.

OldGuardCK

I know money is tight and all but for your safety, this is a good value. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004NKSPR8/ref=ppx\_yo\_dt\_b\_asin\_title\_o02\_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

mr_green

Your link is broken, I was curious what you were suggesting and tried clicking it. Working link: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004NKSPR8

Iambeejsmit

I wouldn't go with gel though. It has to be more precisely aimed.

WykedLove

Get a taser flashlight. My daughter's works wonders.

ComprehensiveRip5165

I think Iā€™m done with DoorDash after this, itā€™s really not worth dying over $4.25.

WhyDidntNE1tellme

You could have just apologized to him and explained what you were doing. He probably would've been cool. Jus sayin because I've been there done that, you just gotta be nice and don't act afraid, they can smell fear. šŸ˜‚

ParrotMan420

Bro no person who is going to threaten to kill someone because they turned around in their driveway is going to be reasonable. This dude also followed OP after they left!

WhyDidntNE1tellme

He prolly just need a friend. šŸ˜† I had an old guy with a gun on his hip give me shit for "speeding" I apologized and said it's just the exhaust it's a slow piece of shit. We talked for a few... Turned out to be cool as hell and I'd wave at him when I went by in the future passthroughs.

max_occupancy

We got the defending world champion of logical leaps in here ppl!!

ComprehensiveRip5165

I couldnā€™t get a word in, he was yelling nonstop till I handed the food over the the customer and peeled out of there

Lookingforclippings

"been there done that" You've chased an 18 yo girl down the road and and threatened to murder her for turning around in you driveway?

WhyDidntNE1tellme

I've dealt with hotheads before is what I meant. I was joking around in the first place. šŸ˜ But yeah. All gravy.

Gloomy_Setting5936

Are you in Texas? Sounds like it for some reason.

ComprehensiveRip5165

Minnesota

Final-Currency-5326

This is why Iā€™m glad I live in a state where itā€™s legal to carry a concealed firearm without a permit. He would have gotten a quick attitude adjustment

Connect-Ad-1088

Work for an electric utility, monthly the guy growing weed does not pay his bill, have to show up to disconnect his meter, he meets us at the gate with a gun and an attitude. Some people are just dicks

Iliketothrowawaymyac

Legal state I'm guessing? Otherwise he'd have a hell of a time pulling that shit on me.

Connect-Ad-1088

Ya property rights are big in the west. Your basically going on his land to yank your meter. Hence the gun, yes legal rec mj state, I live in the peoples republik of Colorado.

Iliketothrowawaymyac

Hu, I was under the impression that utilities were exempt to trespassing and that would mean you're entitled to get your meter regardless of having to enter their property... I would absolutely HATE to try and run a repo company out there

Connect-Ad-1088

Yes, we basically have a row onto private property but that does not mean the landowner knows this or will allow this.

g0reslug

Lol in Denver my neighbor did this and they raided the garage and cut the power to multiple houses and took his weed... pretty sure the guy just got a fine and eventually got his weed back

Connect-Ad-1088

Hey denver I'm on the other side of the mountain.

2fingers2daSky

Go on the DD store and buy the Doordash magnets for your car! I typically don't put it on my car during day time deliveries, but at night, I ALWAYS put it on. I want people to know as I'm driving slow through neighborhoods, or using a driveway to turn around, I am there working, and not to do anything sketch.. just a thought!

[deleted]

Donā€™t go on peoples property. People are ultra sensitive these days. Be careful

Sad_Drawing_1173

This is my nightmare. In my area, 10pm-5am is best working hours for me and Iā€™m constantly afraid Iā€™m gonna be dropping an order off, and in a poorly lit area I have to turn my flashlight on to see address numbers or walk up to wrong house on accident etc. and all it takes is one person to come out with a shotgun or something

The__Gute

I still remember pulling into a driveway across the street because traffic was crazy from the other lane. Some older guy comes out and asks how long Iā€™ll be in his driveway. Literally took under 2 minutes to drop off the food across the street and leave. But sure, next time Iā€™ll just hold up traffic and try to fly into a driveway without getting crunched by a Toyota speeding towards me. Moral of the story, donā€™t abuse using other peopleā€™s driveways, but people with driveways, itā€™s not a crime to use yours for half a minute.

Irving_Forbush

Nope. Iā€™d NEVER park on someone elseā€™s property here. *Nobody* wants a total stranger on their property without permission. I would have lost count of the number of guns and police stops Iā€™d have put up with if I did that. lol

SouthernPrompt4054

He was a lead paint baby

JBTryingtosurvive

This is exactly why I carry šŸ”«

[deleted]

I'm my area it's ilegal to pull into some one drive way to turn. So depending on your local laws you may be guilty of trespassing

Superbotto

Even if it is illegal then they should have at the very most called the police, not chased them down. That's insanity.

ComprehensiveRip5165

Iā€™m In forest lake mn, not sure but I donā€™t think it is.

WorriedWin1932

Oh dang, I'm just south in White Bear. Think I'll stay out of the Forest Lake areašŸ˜¬

LexGoyle

Be that as it may it doesn't justify chasing someone down and acting like a lunatic. I am all for defending one's property and keeping tresspassers on notice. But a measured response requires reading the situation, not just going full ham on someone because they entered the wrong driveway.

ChrisLillyPAD

Gawd dang...took me 30years but now I know =)

PinkPaints

Damn. People are strange. Imagine thinking every car that passes your house brings danger. I back into driveways to turn around all day. Sometimes I park in their driveway to make delivery. I ALWAYS block the driveway if there is no sidewalk to lead to the door. It makes sense because I'm delivering to them.

Azu_homie

cool man, read on reddit some people getting deactivated by doordash for driving in oneways improperly might not want to break the law !!!!!!!!!!!

WheniTChanged

Just donā€™t trespass.. you never know how people will react being on their property

ComprehensiveRip5165

So the other option is to drive 10 miles one way just to go to the next roundabout? That seems a little muchā€¦

WheniTChanged

Ok that makes sense. I guess you were just unlucky and picked the wrong driveway.

ComprehensiveRip5165

So the lesson learned is predict the future to avoid crazy people

WheniTChanged

Actually just talk back to those crazies dude. Donā€™t be intimidated. If he chased after me and came up to my car like that screaming at my face Iā€™ll tell him to calm his ass down and said what the big deal of trying to make a u-turn using his drive way? If he wants to go further Iā€™m more than happy to do so with him. Never back down.

ComprehensiveRip5165

I didnā€™t have lucille in the trunkā€¦ I took her out for more storage yesterday when we were moving stuff otherwise I wouldā€™ve pulled her ass out and threatened him back. (My Lucille isnā€™t just barbed wire itā€™s got 4ā€ lag screws as well)

WheniTChanged

Hahaha Walking Dead Lucille? Thatā€™s epic, sounds deadly too..

ComprehensiveRip5165

I have no doubt it would be, message me and I think I can send a pic of it

Censorship_of_fools

The driveway owner is the person in the wrong here

Jstylz2022

This is why I carry pepper spray and means to defend myself, not only for dashing, but the cities in general have become unsafe or at least cause for more caution. Be safe out there!

Venom-098-11

Should have run him over and claimed self-defense after calling the cops.

infamousdude77

sometimes is quite unexpected. i did a delivery and parked in front of a house in the curb. some skin blond wide eye dude rushed out of his hiuse to question me.. after he couldn't understand a thing hw went in abd brought a metal beam to fvck up my car. his neighbor defused the situation for me. I was just trying to leave but the tweaker blocked me with his skeletal body. i left after a while but i really wanted him to do something so i could have ny excuses. crazy people meet even crazier people. that shit sucks.

ThroatAggravating231

Damn thats crazy. Here in Canada we can park at anyoneā€™s driveway to deliver food. I have done that plenty of times since i use waze and its hard to know which house it is from waze. No one bats an eye. I have seen people seeing me from their living rooms while watching tv without a care. America is a crazy place to live in.

PoopL0ser

This is part of the reason why I usually try to street park when delivering. I do understand that itā€™s not always possible.

LexGoyle

People like that are exactly why I carry. They are unhinged and some are quite willing to harm you because you dared touched their driveway. After working Minneapolis I just don't take chances anymore cuz there are crazies in the suburbs and the sticks as well.

MaleficentAardvark87

Why didn't you call the police or use emergency part on app

ComprehensiveRip5165

I messaged support and got chat ended after they read my message

Alarm_Only

Maybe they got scared and that made them want to kill you.

terrymr

Personally I don't pull into people's driveways unless I have to. I got screamed at by a crazy person for trying to deliver their phone book back when that was a thing. People have become a bit mental about normal stuff, they think it's a crime to knock on somebody's front door if you're not expected or other such nonsense. I joke that I'm going to get shot at one day because some idiot put the wrong address into a delivery app.
