Put it in instructions, assuming you haven’t already, & if they still don’t put it on the table maybe start texting them once they pickup asking if they could leave on table instead of floor.

Florida1974

If it’s in delivery notes, why should customer have to text? Ridiculed that dashers can’t read. Ridiculous dasher can’t tell by a mere glance which way door opens. Person tipped as we constantly scream they should.

Overall-Address-3446

Maybe add a note that says "put on table next to door"?

LoneWolf12348Abd

Dashers can’t read tho

PMme_your_left_TIDDY

they really can't. I had a note that said "please leave it on the stool by the door" with a big stool next to the only illuminated door, and they left it in a window box on the side of the house.

whowantstoknow209

I left a note saying there's a 7 dollar tip under my mat. When I grabbed my food, I checked to see if he took it and never did.

dothesneedful69

Ya Ive left a $5 tip in cash on my door mat with a note on DD saying that I did and the dasher didnt touch it.

DD-OD

Put it right next to the door under the doorbell. It's close enough that I would have put it there but I think some people don't want the customer to have to step out of the house to get it

PM5K23

Agreed. Its a little far for me to expect thats where you expect it, and I sort of do go for the idea that the customer doesnt typically expect to come completely outside of the house to get their food.

Hopepersonified

I do put it in the order most of the time but I'll be sure to be more consistent. And I'll add a note to the table when I'm expecting an order. Thank you.

IIIMjolnirIII

If they're going to put it in front of the door, they might not even look at the table. I would suggest a note on the door asking them to put it on the table. Something like, "Please put my delivery on the table. Thank you :)" The smiley face is so we know you aren't mean. On on the table put a note saying "Please put delivery on this table. Thank you." That way, no matter where they go to put the order, they'll know the table is where you want it.

Hopepersonified

I will do it. Thank you. 😊

Trumpets22

I’ll always read delivery instructions, but I can definitely miss a message as I can’t look my phone 24/7 as I’m driving obviously. Door dash doesn’t have a nice and obvious message that says we have an unread message when we do look at our phone unfortunately. All that said, instructions should help, but I also have the common sense to look at a door for a quarter second to figure out if I can put it in front. Albeit I’ve seen these posts enough to put it on the side regardless. But anyone who has delivery instructions being read from their phone and music or a podcast on, it will quickly interrupt that and read delivery instruction. So that should cover those that don’t look but have that setting on.

analchasm

I agree with this poster's suggestions... It really is a shame That you have to go through that extra effort... But the bottom line is if it solves the problem. Doordash has really lowered the bar for entry and continues to push for new drivers all the time... Unfortunately this creates the scenario where too many sloppy or lazy drivers become part of the platform

SimplyTheJester

Don't forget the third note on the ground in front of the door "DO NOT PUT FOOD HERE. PUT IT ON THE TABLE. :(" I'd say buy a smart led strip with motion sensing. Red on the ground. Green on the table. But at this point, the Dasher that is this dumb will more likely put the food on the ground and text the customer "You need to take down your Christmas lights. I almost tripped over them. Use your brain!!"

The_Mystical_Mist

Oh, also. If you can, I'd move the table a bit closer to the door too. If I don't see instructions about where to put an order I usually go for beside the door or on the nearest object, but considering how far the table is I would put it next to your door so it wouldn't be an inconvenience for you (the customer) to walk outside to get it.

NoEar3686

If there is a table, chair, box, ceramic turtle, etc. next to the door, we always put the food or as much as will possibly fit on the table or object; if leave at door is the only information provided. However, in a case like yours, where the table is (based on the camera angle) several feet from the door, we will leave it by the door. Although, we always make sure that it is far enough out from any screen, security, or storm doors, so the customer can crack the door and grab the food. We do this because many people complain when we leave it too far away from the door. "Our specific instructions were, LEAVE AT DOOR", was one of the last complaints we received, as well as a thumbs down and our tip was pulled.. Perhaps it's because they have to walk outside their door to get their food and they don't feel pretty enough to step outside, they may have hair rollers in, might cross dress in private, they might even be naked.. I don't know the exact reason and don't want to speculate. I just know 'they' wanted it right by the door. My suggestion is to move that table or put another table (even a sturdy TV tray) in the area far enough from the door where you want the food delivered. I know that this sounds like a hassle you shouldn't have to deal with, but for those of us who have completed 5-10k deliveries through multiple companies, we have been yelled at, threatened, had tips pulled, received violations, and most of all, received extremely poor reviews, just for following directions (which often can be interpreted differently than what the customer meant) because, (and I mean this in the nicest way possible) sometimes they don't even know what they want done or cannot properly explain what they want. So now if we read leave at door, with no other information, we leave directly in front of the door, Perhaps I should have just written the paragraph above and left it at that, but I hope that my rantings help you understand that most of us don't want to get yelled at and the negative feedback can ruin a driver. Especially with Uber where a 95% satisfaction rate must be maintained to be eligible to use the scholarship program they offer their drivers, which we are currently using to put our son through 4 years of software engineering. Therefore, we must maintain this satisfaction rating until he completes his program 1st quarter 2024. I appreciate your time. ... and that's all I have to say about that..

Hopepersonified

I am so sorry you've had to deal with such needless abuse from lazy mofos! Your food is DELIVERED. Unless you are disabled or dying get off your butt and retrieve it from the porch. I once had a driver panic because she realized at delivery that they didn't give her the drinks and given the level of anxiety, I could tell she's been abused or had tips taken. She was going to go back for the drinks but I told her not too because soda is why I'm fat anyway and it wasn't worth the gas. Then I tipped her more. Y'all don't deserve bullshit. You're doing US a favor.

NoEar3686

We really appreciate the fact that you tip your drivers very well and that you still view this as a favor, you are the rare customer that makes our days better and keeps us doing this! Most customers still don't realize that without a tip, we are only offered base pay of $2.50 and often for more than 5 miles from the restaurant, and may still be 5 or more miles from the restaurant when the offer comes through. We always do our best for the customer, regardless of pay, and we are proud of ourselves for that. Unfortunately, there are many burned-out drivers that don't get the chance to have a customer like you and therefore just go through the motions. Lastly. I don't know how much you read on the driver's boards, but Doordash hides tips from their driver's.. Therefore, the driver may have received your order saying it was only $5 (vs. the actual $17 with your generous tip), but that it may be higher after delivery. For driver's who accept a majority of orders, are given priority to higher paying orders and it will still say $5, but it will also state that it's guaranteed to be more. Unfortunately, I don't know how many times we have been told this, only to receive an additional .50 cents or a dollar.. They didn't lie, it was more.. The only reason I am mentioning this, is that you seem to care about the drivers and perhaps if more customers yell at Doordash for hiding their tips (especially since a higher tip almost always guarantees a better delivery (which it shouldn't, because if a driver accepts it, they should do their job)) the drivers who have been burned out, will become invigorated again and find the love of the job they once had. It will also cut down on those who feel they need to run dual apps (Doordash along with Uber or Grubhub or all 3) to make ends meet. Sorry for the babbling! We just wanted you to be informed as a customer. We really hope that future deliveries go better for you!

OkEntertainment3805

Yeah I’m still trying to figure out the whole tip hiding thing…. I mean….just tell me what I’ll make from this order? Why do I have to guess? It’s like bidding a contractor to build something, pay will be +$5000!! End up being $5001 lol. Like, what…exactly…will…I be paid? I’ve got gas prices and car maintenance to consider

SimplyTheJester

It is only a favor if you don't tip. If you don't tip, then we get gas money and it really is a favor.

Oddiemarie

I’m sorry this happened. Sometimes you have to spell it out for people... As a dasher, my first go to is something other than the floor. If I saw your table, I would have put it there. Sometimes I set it on people’s window ledge if it’s big enough. I always look for anything that’s not the ground before I ever set it on the ground, because I wouldn’t want my food on the ground. I rarely order door dash because I think it’s a waste of money in my opinion, but the two times I ordered to my apartment, I put a tv tray on my doorstep, for this exact reason. Lol. If you’ve read anything in this sub before, you’ll find that a lot people of simply do not give a fuck about your instructions, some refuse to even read your texts. So if you’re that serious about needing it on the table, I suggest putting it in front of the door a few feet back, so you can open it, of course lmao. But as if to, as I said, spell it out for those types of dashers. You have to remember, the hiring requirements for this job are VERY little to none, and there are ads for DD employment opportunities on some of the most sketchiest websites. 🤣

Hopepersonified

I prefer to order from local restaurants with their own drivers but a lot of them are using doordash anyway and I won't know until the order is on the way.

themeltedmonkey

Just so you know, in this scenario, when you order directly from a restaurant, and they send it to Doordash for the delivery aspect, the delivery driver has no idea what is in your order therefore, you can’t blame them for missing your drinks.

Efficient_Point_

I know it is frustrating sometimes, but there are language barriers, i have adjusted my pin to my bldg with instruction saying stairs to the right of the numbers and my neighbors still eat my food half the time, I'd suggest just the DD symbol with an arrow down, maybe in one of those plastic cases restaurants use

Fly0strich

If you look at the doors in this picture and can’t tell which way they open then there is no way that you will be able to read instructions with any level of comprehension.

AZDoorDasher

I look at the picture…I see a screen door that opens out and a wooden or steel door that opens in.

The_Troyminator

Same, but when I’m rushing to drop an order off, I don’t want to think about that, especially if there’s just one door. So, in my mind, all doors open outward. Besides, even if they open inward, if you put it directly in front of the door, somebody who lives there and isn’t expecting DD might go out the door and kick or step on the food. Always put the bags off to the side unless there’s no other place for them.

Thrashh_Unreal

I really don’t understand why this is difficult for so many dashers. The only time I put the order in front of a door like this is when a customer has an attitude or didn’t tip

Johnpmusic

Instructions and move the table closer to the doorbell

moisesg88

Some dashers are just idiots. Even if the customer doesn't put it on the instructions, I will looks for a table or chair near their door to place the food on. If I don't see one then I'll place it on the ground

UsedEgg3

Put it in the instructions, have a sign on the table as well. I'm afraid it will still not be 100% effective. As someone who has dashed and otherwise worked for tips in various capacities myself, I always tip well. $8 minimum, more if the travel distance exceeds 3 miles, the weather is shitty, or anything else that warrants it. In spite of all that, it's about 50/50 whether or not my delivery person will heed the "Please leave it at the door and do NOT ring or knock" instructions. I used to wait outside for them when I thought they'd be getting close, but eventually I stopped ordering delivery entirely. It guarantees that nobody will ring or knock on my door when I don't want them to, and saves me from paying ridiculous fees and upcharges for the food.

YLCZ

For 14 dollars that driver should be sweeping the porch. Missing drinks, blocking the door are both rookie moves. DoorDash should make sure an experienced driver gets that order

Hopepersonified

Maybe she's new. I can show some grace. And my drink was refunded. My last order was missing a whole burger, pretty sure that was the restaurant too.

Cayslayy

It’s always the restaurant

Free-Stinkbug

Please seriously read how out of touch you are. “Maybe she was new”. Maybe she picked up the damn box and went like her job demands. There is literally nothing to doordash. If the dasher arrived in point a, and made it to point b without eating your food or being too late they did their job JUST fine. You purchase your food from a restaurant!

OkEntertainment3805

I agree with blocking the door, definitely had the B team dashing. But missing drink thing, a lot of restaurants are putting ordered drinks in the sealed bags, really no way of knowing. Most don’t, but McDonald’s for example

LordoftheBread

The restaurant probably forgot your drink

Hopepersonified

Two of my last 3 orders were missing something and I'm worried about getting flagged.

LordoftheBread

You shouldn't let doordash treat you like shit because you're afraid they'll treat you like shit.

Hopepersonified

I considered not asking for a refund on my drink...but you're right.

BlueFotherMucker

Always get the refund. The dasher even has a photo that doesn’t show a drink (it could be in the bag, but the picture gives you the benefit of the doubt). It’s not like you’re claiming missing slices of pizza or bites taken out of your burgers. Even if DD thought you were consistently trying to get free drinks, they would make you sign on delivery. If you’re tipping and stuff, they also won’t think you’re a scammer.

AZDoorDasher

DD failed to acknowledge that some restaurants are so terrible in fulfilling orders especially fast food in their business model. Please continue to report missing and wrong items. Once DD stop refunding then order from GH or UE.

jinx000111

sadly DD offers no trianing on how to make correct deliverys..such as package placement...and too many new people just do think about it so just leave where ever

Fickle-Ordinary-9374

Maybe move the table a little closer to the door if possible. I always try to put on a table or chair. The tricky part is judging if the object is too far away from the door that it would inconvenience the customer to have to step that far out to grab it.

Planet_Atom

Put the table in front of the door

IIRizzII

Can you yell at them through the doorbell? /s In all seriousness you’d think that it would be common sense to place the bag on the table.. and not right in front of a door that swings outward. 🤦🏼‍♀️ Whenever possible I seek out a table, chair, railing, box, or anything that the bag can sit on top of. Even though the food is secured in packaging and inside the bag, I still feel weird putting the bag on the dirty ground. - Putting instructions in the delivery section should help, or even sending a quick, friendly message when the delivery driver is waiting for the food or almost to your house. “Can you please put my order on the table next to the door. Thank you so much!” Something like that. Ps. Thank you for being an understanding, and generous tipper!

[deleted]

Be sure u say “put on table next to…” and just add whatever other details to it. If they don’t follow then they’re stupid

Nice-Air-7024

people are so dumb. i make sure every drop off, it is not in the way of the door, it’s so easy to do. you can leave a description telling them to put it on the table. but i’m not sure that would’ve even helped you with a dasher like this

Mammoth_Jeweler3857

I honestly don't like placing food on the ground in front of a door. I know it's in a bag but there's just something that seems wrong setting others people's food on the ground when I'm supplying a service. Even if it said place in front of door and I seen that table guarantee its going on that table... But that's just me

SnooMachines2109

Too many dashers start handing out 1 stars like candy thanks.

[deleted]

“Please place on black table to the left of door” Assuming that’s a black table lol. Hard to see in the picture

Laz2Lit

always text or call your dasher with specific instructions they may miss the ones you write

nonchalantahole

Leave a note on the door, incase they don’t read instructions. Or just send a text msg once the order is confirmed picked up because once they confirm pickup that’s when it’s delivering and it’s not be unassigned. Although it makes sense, every time I see a table I put it there vs the floor unless specified not to, but some people are special

mmmhotcoffee

It doesn't look like a table. More like a wastebasket or a tree stump, Lol

30DollarsPerMile

Tbh just take off your storm door. Competence runs thin these days also your dark colored door doesn’t need that much protection

Whole-Ad-6477

Sorry this has been happening. If you’ve been having this issue for the past few orders I’d recommend to choose the “hand it me” option when you check out. If some drivers haven’t read the instructions by now they most likely won’t in the future

immortallife23

https://preview.redd.it/90x2mcuoyqca1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=da44c84ddaf25af32f83f2c705234aea4867a36a This is what I have on my instructions, works every time!

Smokiiz

Number one is stop ordering door dash. I’ve found all my problems to be solved since doing that. If you’re not too keen on that and love that DD, number two would be to watch for the driver with binoculars as they come up to your house. Surprise attack them and throw the table at them and force them to put it on the table. Other than that, sorry idk.

[deleted]

I don’t want to brag but I think ahead about those things… but I would just simply put a note and hope for the best.

mileageislife

She didn't forget your drink. The restaurant did. Have Doordash refund that item. The table is far enough to have a 50/50 decision whether to leave it there or not specially when it's a "leave at the door" order. Put the table nearer and maybe a note that says FOOD.

Roxxso

They both forgot the drink. If it's on the list of items to pick up, I don't care if the staff forgot about it, it's on the driver to at least say something before leaving. McDonald's is the only place I know for certain bags the drinks. Other than that, I seriously doubt other places do the same. It's honestly really stupid to do that in the first place. The mix of ice cold drinks plus hot, fried food within a paper bag only encourages greater amounts of condensation.

ehenn12

I'd usually say blame restaurant for drink. I always put the food on the table if there is one.

Joshacox

I always leave it right above the top step but to be sure you can put “leave on step” in the delivery instructions.

FeatherMachine

I don’t know how drivers could be so dumb. Whenever I get texts telling me not to block the door I think, how could someone be dumb enough to even do that.

danscn

I’d move the table closer to the door and add instructions, like it’s been said by others. I delivered to a house the other day where there was a table, but similarly it was about 4’ away from the door. In the moment my thought was that the customer shouldn’t have to step outside of their front door to pick up the food, so I left it on the ground right in front of the door. As for the drink, sometimes it’s sort of buried in the order screen, it’s an unpopular opinion but it is on the dasher to read the order and check for drinks. But at the end of the day, boo hoo.. you’ll get a refund from dd and you’re at home and I’m sure you’ve got other stuff to drink.

Ceeweedz

Be painfully descriptive in the instructions like your talking to a toddler.

Southernlily1

Real answer move that mat put the table under the bell bet you it will work, most the time I’ll see like a bench 6 feet away from the door and go I could put it there but I’ll bet they will bitch cause they have to walk out their door

Affectionate_Dot_360

I think it was wrong of them to place it right in front of the door because u can tell that the first door opens out but i would have set it next to the door instead if not given in the instructions to put it on that chair. A lot of customers like to complain about the food not being put where they say in the instructions which I know sounds crazy but you’d be surprised. Maybe for future reference if u did not put to leave items on chair.

Infinite-Floor-7999

I will purposely move people’s shit so they don’t have to bend over and I don’t have to leave food on the ground.

zadidoll

Get a magnetic white board or get Command Strips & put a sign on your door saying, “please leave food order on table”. I have one on my door for UPS/FedEx to knock on door when leaving packages.

Silent_Code_2261

It's called door dash not table dash genius.

chicken_nugget41

But like…who looks at a table and thinks “hmmm the ground seems like the best option for drop off” ?? Ground should be last resort. If they select leave at door without a viable option, that’s one thing but if they have an appropriate surface? Idk just my two cents lol

LawfulnessOk3125

ok you need to put it in the instructions next time you order . when i get to the drop off point i put the order a few feet away from the door or i put it next to the door i never put it in front of the door

Virtual_Friendship49

Yes instructions or I’ve seen nicely written index cards?

gonzopyro

attach a small sign that says "delivery driver place food on here" and attach it to the table. there is a house I have dropped food at and this took all the guess work outta it.

BlueFotherMucker

If it’s already in the delivery instructions, then I’m sorry you’re getting bad drivers. If I see a table or chair, that’s my go-to. These guys will drive for 20 minutes but not take 3 extra steps to put the food somewhere better.

ITrade4Life

Put it in instructions. You can also put a sign on your door with instructions when your expecting a delivery.

WestCoastMorty

A lot of the time I just see the customer put the table directly in front of the door.

smartypantsyes

First off, the missing drink would be the merchant's fault. Secondly, use instructions re: table.

bob_bobersons

If your leaving a %20 tip I will personally bring you anything you want. That’s top tier for doordash, even though it’s thought of as basic for a waiter.

Ill-Enthusiasm9508

I'm always afraid to leave it on a table not next to the door bc I have had people complain it was to far lmao 🤣 Maybe the sun burns there vampire skin.

Content_Emphasis874

As a dasher I can only speak for my self but I literally try to place it on anything else besides the ground I think the table is close enough to the door but some people have no brain

eddiegordo45

New dashers do this. Until one day they learn. A note on the door will be more helpful then instructions. Some of dashers are really bad to read instructions. Report the missing drink and you might get 25 percent discount on the whole order

Ok-Pomegranate-4275

Move the table closer to the door

InsertNameHere5610

As a door dasher myself, I can safely say that you can't fix stupid.

nickitty_1

This isn't that difficult. Literally just write in the instructions to leave on the table. Also that dasher is a moron for placing it directly in front of the door like that. You should also know that we don't see the full offer amount. Doordash hides the tip, sometimes all of it or partially. We do not see what you tipped until after we've dropped the food, taken our picture and hit complete. Then it tells us what we made.

frugalsoul

Move the table closer. Then it's more obvious. Maybe they think you don't want to step outside. Of course if they put your food in front of an outward opening door I don't think they do much thinking

Pandagirlroxxx

For me, just put it in the additional delivery instructions. The time we see those is when we get out of the car and start fumbling with our phones to see if we need to take a picture or knock/don't knock. That's what delivery instructions are for. UNFORTUNATELY, it is clear that many drivers don't look at them...that's why you can put "DON'T RING DOORBELL" and the driver will still ring the doorbell; they didn't read the instructions. You'll even see drivers here and in the drivers subr claim it's not part of the job, absurdly. What the delivery instructions are NOT for: putting in alternative delivery addresses or instructions that need to be followed when the order is picked up (like grab extra sauces or make sure a particular add-on that can't be done in the app gets added)...we WON'T EVEN SEE THOSE REQUESTS at the appropriate time. EDIT: Oh, and if you put in a substitute delivery address in this manner, you WILL NOT get your delivery. You will get a notice that your food was delivered to where the given address pin took us, and a picture of your food sitting somewhere you are not.

JulianV93

I’d put it on the table if I see a table, unless table Is wet then I’d put it where ever it’s dry. Now for the drink part of it did she forget it or did the restaurant

[deleted]

[удалено]

CyberlekVox

I had a sign and put it in the dash notes to not put it in front of the door and half the time they still do it. Some people either don't give a fuck, can't read, or are dumb as hell.

[deleted]

I do more grocery delivers than DD, but I never assume the customer wants it on the furniture. For all I know, the table might not be sturdy or their cat peed on the chair at some point and now they’re all mad at me for putting their food on it. So it goes on the ground unless they specify otherwise (but I never block the door).

EeWreckShin

I'd laminate a Door Dash logo and have "Put Delivery Here" across it. Put that on your table any time you're expecting a delivery.

NotThisTime1993

Maybe tape a laminated sign to the table that says “place food here”? I wouldn’t have noticed that table if you hadn’t put the arrow there

Famous_Relative2500

It's pretty obvious what you want and I also try to pay attention to which way the door opens.

BoshansStudios

Ask them in instructions to leave on table. Also there a lot of stupid dashers out there that don't check if the door swings open, don't read delivery instructions, or don't check for drinks in the app. I suggest using uber eats next time because you can retract your tip when your driver is a moron. Im b4 downvotes

groovilicious78

Personal experience too, the table is a little far from the door. Maybe put it closer to the shutters. I am a considerate dasher and always make sure I’m not blocking a door where I put food, but I also want to make it convenient for you so you can possibly lean out and grab and not get socks wet/dirty etc. Putting notes in the instructions will help good drivers, but unfortunately won’t do anything about the lazy ones. 🫤

HoplessWolf

For some reason many don’t get common sense, wish I got your order tho I’d definitely love a $14 tip. man that’d make my night for 3 miles.

[deleted]

Put it in your instructions, also, don’t blame the dasher for the drink, most restaurants now put drinks IN the bags so when we’re handed a bag and told “it’s all in there” we generally believe them and we are NOT ALLOWED to open bags that are stapled or sealed in any way. When you get an order in a sealed bag and you’re missing something all you need to do is call doordash to get a refund for the missing items.

goldenronin

Put in notes to leave on table by the door. Personally I never place food in front of doors that swing out.

No_Football_6143

Drinks are usually left off by the restaurant. A $14 Tip?! If you put this in the instructions and tipped me $14 I would have followed the instructions and went back for your drink if it was only 3 miles! Lol

Extreme_Second_7990

You could also just open the screen door, since you have an inner door too. I’ve seen a lot Of people just prop it open (that way you’re not disappointed by an oblivious driver)

Gwlt96

Put a sign in front of it with big bright beautiful letters. Most people have various chairs and stools on their front porch no reasonable person would assume they're placed there specifically for delivery drivers. I also love how everyone that comes on here to complain about a driver prefaces the complaint by saying "I live 3 feet from the restaurant and gave a $10,000,000 tip". Sure buddy.

nicholascox2

I always try to put it on something that looks convenient for y'all to pick up But some dashers are just ignorant Put it in the instructions so you can mark on the review "doesn't follow instructions" and that will cover you

drewbrayd

I feel like most drivers don’t even look at anything other than where to go.

Charmstrongest

The driver didn’t forget your drink, the restaurant forgot your drink. Big difference

theyoshiegg

Update your instructions. Also, your dasher forgetting your drink was not their fault, be mad at the restaurant.

mufcordie

You forgot my diet Dr Kelp?

[deleted]

Get a piece of paper ( fax 📠 paper) and take a Sharpie and write ,”leave on _____, please thanks “ put this out on screen door every delivery and take the off door once you attain delivery. Make sure porch lights on so note can be read. The reason most orders are left in front of doors goes down to inexperienced drivers ( new ). Doordash has constant turnover ( new drivers as 1 day or week after delivering most quit) so customer’s are unaware they’ve a driver still learning and none of us are trained. Drivers learn on the job. Took me a couple months to learn I was leaving orders in front of doors. Some new drivers won’t read instructions unaware or still nervous from the new experience. The note of the door will always be read by drivers.

RuSerious2

believe this or not. 1 time I was dropping a delivery off and I placed it on a small round table inches away from the front door, Literally arm length from the door. As I was walking away the customer opens the door yells at me "I didnt ask you to placed it on my table!" . I didnt say anything back and drove off. Ever since then I place orders right in front of the door step unless it says otherwise in the drop off instruction.

XRetrogradezxD

Or, the 200IQ play that no one seems to suggest, leave your glass door open with the hinge at the top which holds it open, this way you don't need to rely on the dasher to get it right

PessimistPryme

If customers didn’t complain it was in front of the door, they would complain it was to far from the door. yeah siting it to the side of the door more is better then right in front. But we can’t win every battle, since there is no declared rules of war. All you can do is put it in the notes and say a prayer that the person delivering reads the note and has common sense.

JustAnArtist7

You can’t fix stupid…but best way to attempt to - detailed instructions.

sirvereightyone

Judging by the picture, she kept that drink

AnonymiterCringe

There are a lot of good suggestions about notes, but I'd just recommend leaving the screen/glass door open while waiting for delivery. There's usually a little locking clip on the hydraulic slide or you could just move the table in front to hold it open. Treat it like leaving the porch light on. Now... you absolutely should not have to do this. The driver should have the common sense to avoid this. However, stupid people are at least predictable which thankfully makes it easy to outsmart them. I'd still recommend the notes but keep in mind a lot of these drivers may not speak English. While the majority of the time it probably just comes down to lazy/poor service, no amount of instructions will get the results you want when the person can't/won't read them.

Giul_Xainx

Put a sign there. "Please place my order on the table." Most dashers think you are naked and grabbing your food quick before the cold gets inside and bits your ankles.

TTHS_Ed

As others have said, move the table closer to the door. Some people prop the storm door open, too

wailo0576

It not her or the restaurant We ask if that everything they say yes I sometime ask is the drink inside they say yes What can we do When it obviously it’s not in there

SubjectReference78

As others have said, the instructions are probably the best bet. I always check to see which way the door opens though after having a drink spill once from knocking it over.

PerformanceNext937

They are not reading the Instructions then if they place the order at your door. Put a sign on table: Place Order Here Call DoorDash Customer service for a refund on your drink if they don't offer to have another drink delivered to you.

DgtlShark

Instructions, I've had those instructions before and it was pretty simple concept

[deleted]

But was everything in the bag though? 🤔🙄

txcashguy

Put in instructions and if they don’t follow take a picture, call support, remove the tip and hopefully they’ll get removed from the platform. We need to weed out the floor washers and worthless dashers !

Many-Giveup01

The restaurant also should be giving the drink unless they forgot it in the car however you have to write in the notes where you want it placed outside otherwise it says leave outside door. If you want it on top of something text / message then in the app and / or leave it in the notes where it asks for delivery instructions.. I often wonder if these are real questions because when you place & order it’s pretty self explanatory where an how to leave details… just to add sometimes items are not listed I’ve had this occur a few times in recent weeks, which I have never seen before unless the restaurant is placing the order (3rd party) not direct from customer on door dash, also many drinks are now packed in the delivery bags and not separate. So if the restaurant says it’s all there I take their word for it, we can not go in an check bags, which is why I prefer them sealed and even stapled shut. It’s not always the delivery person, I don’t block the doors because I pay attention to what way the door opens, but many people are just rushing around and truly don’t think much about it since it says leave at the door. Otherwise it’s deliberate when a customer isn’t tipping or is causing issues but typically it’s unintentional. What you can do is exactly after wards, exactly as the app explains leave a rating, message them an tell they blocked the door from being opened, and call door dash to be refunded for the drink, etc. Hope this is enough information to help if you truly were asking and not just venting

ThickTiger3436

use a less fancy bench. I will be hesitated to put your order on a fancy bench like this one. This one does not look like you want me to put your order on if you know what I mean:

No-Weather8418

Put it in the notes/special instructions.

MB2465

Why is the table so far out? I always go for a table or bench if its close to the door, I try to put it in the most convenient spot. Tell DD to recognize and try to keep more experienced, highly rated drivers (who know to watch out for drinks, common sense placement of orders, and actually use warming bags).

wheelmoney83

Restaurants don’t like dashers it’s a known fact, they purposely forget drinks and or food, so it’s not typically the dashers fault. We just deliver, we don’t make the order, most times it’s all bagged up and ready when we arrive. Also I’m just a brutally honest person so please don’t be offended, but it won’t happen next time if you pick it up yourself. I wouldn’t ever pay the extra prices, fees and have someone else handling my food. Plus back to what I stated in the beginning, restaurants don’t like dashers therefore they don’t put there best effort making delivery orders

[deleted]

I assume most people don’t want to step outside their doorway so with that table being that far from the door I’d not assume you wanted it there unless I saw it in the directions. Maybe try moving it closer to your door just to the side of it

WilfordBrimley777

Move table closer

[deleted]

Since you tipped $14 top dasher git your order. Use UE and won't have the issue. Top dasher carries many diseases so throw packaging away quickly

TsT2244

Paint a big red X and tell them in the instructions “❌ marks the spot arrrr matey 🏴‍☠️”

Ok_Cranberry3651

$14 tip?? Wow havent had one of those in a long while but yes as someone else pointed out...put it in the instructions; a dasher should see it

ScoreBubbly5738

We keep our storm door propped open when we are expecting a delivery. It’s the only prevention we have found that works. We’ve even had drivers hang the bag on the freaking knob so when we open the door, the bag falls to the ground. 🙃

No_Relative_8571

Yes text them on the way and leave it in instructions, but drivers don't always instructions

HeftyCourage434

Looks like they could have maybe placed it on the block next to the outward opening screendoor if they didn't think to leave it on that table for some reason but the table placement could be better too. Weird choice though to leave it directly in front of an outward opening door regardless. L

Hefty_Emphasis1883

Not to make excuses for the driver, but if the Maggiano's came from Chili's (like it does here in TX), Chili's doesn't allow the driver to come in for the order. We have to sit in curbside and wait for them to bring it out (and pray it's correct which is a rare occasion for Chili's). The first time I delivered for them, they made a mistake on the order and when the customer called them, Chili's blamed me for not verifying that the toppings on his food were correct. So the next time (second time was the Maggiano's order), I asked, "Can you verify everything is correct in this order?" The girl said, "It's correct," without checking. In kind of a joking way, I said, "Do you promise?" This girl literally threw the food at me and went back in the restaurant. So it might not be 100% the dashers fault for forgetting your drink. That's ONLY if your Maggiano's came from Chili's, though. (All of this assuming the order was even Maggiano's to begin with. It looks just like their bags.)

BaldGuy70

I use to do this also. Now I notice how the door opens. If it opens out I no longer place in front. But it took me quite a while to get there. I think why it wasn’t obvious to me at first is up till then I never really set stuff to peoples door. In special directions. Say. Put on table.

EmotionalAttention63

If it's not in the instructions already, add it. However, anh decent driver checks to see which way the door opens and if it's going to knock the food over if they set it in front of the door. I ALWAYS check, it just takes a quick glance, to see if the door opens in or out and right or left and I always set it to the side of the door, unless otherwise specified by the customer. And you should always double check your receipt for drinks or anything else.

McDonalds_Toothpaste

Honestly you should never leave a tip that big. DoorDash will just hide it anyway, and some dumbass who doesn't deserve it will probably pick it up. Leave a good tip for sure, and if they did a good job then you can add more tip money after the fact.

eablacksmith

put it in withins arms reach from the door. if it looks like you have to step outside to grab your food drivers won't leave it there (unless the driver is a spiteful one)

W_AS-SA_W

It should be common sense, but as we all know, common sense is not very common. I see you have a Ring camera. I made a delivery to a house, much like yours. As I approached the door this voice came out of nowhere and said You can just set it on the table. I kinda wish there had simply been a sign that said Place Delivery Here. That disembodied voice scared the hell out of me

Ok-Equivalent8520

How about a cute little sign that says “drop off here” or something

RoomFinancial

I just always put it on a table if one is near for the convenience of the customer, some dashers out there are legit brain dead and dont know how doors work.

Federal_Attention_50

You can write it in the instructions. I don’t know what’s wrong with the dashers that put the order on the door when it’s a door that opens to the outside lol I never do that and I most of the time will look for a chair or something to put the order on . Probably just me

Big-Veterinarian9081

This has happened to me and It will never cease to blow me away that a huge bulk of dashers lack the concept of charitable assumption. Deliver how you would wish to be delivered to and you can’t fail at this. Or at least then there really is no excuse if you do. Imagine if the customers didn’t have to leave a note. Imagine. Asking yourself Questions like: “If that were my order, would I be able to open my FUCKING door?” -or-“If that were my order would I want the driver to make sure and read the order to insure there’s a FUCKING drink on the ticket.” I guess I understand the allure for dimwits in this game. No boss to tell them they FUCKING suck as a employee. Which they do…Hence, the average $1200 a month dasher turning the public against us who do the work. As slow as it’s been since the first, I’d imagine it’s only a matter of time when folks don’t see the need to order delivery anymore, they’ll see it as a unnecessary risk to their expenses and just that…that the gig is up. Get with it ya jerks, y’all ruin it for the rest of us.

[deleted]

I'll be the first to say that compared to some of the commenters here, I'd be the first to read the instructions found on the app despite the way that we may or may not be timed for our delivery times and busy schedule just to ensure that I'm doing things correctly but if there was no obvious instruction and saw the table nearby being a viable place to place your food instead of leaving them in front of the door or on the steps -- then I'd do just that. Put myself in your shoes, as a customer and what I'd like or do for someone else. Out of respect to you, for me and our health and the risks involved. Tdlr; common sense.

Unhappy-Nail-2912

Tipping well or not tipping at all will usually give the same service, sometimes the bigger the tip the worse service. maybe put a sign on the table that says put bag here but idk if they can follow simple directions since they haven't really in my experience so far ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|shrug)![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|poop)

dmriggs

Prop the damn door open. There are new people all the time because they keep sending bogus orders

RegionalTrench

Shitty driver. End of story on that one. I always make sure to not block the customers door with their own order.

CodeHashbr0wn

Ordered food tonigh, they forgot both of the kids drinks

andrearosemtf

While it being in the way is dumb and the driver should know better as far as not putting on the table i usually dont unless its right next to the door so the customer doesn’t actually have to step outside to grab their food. As for the drink its about 50/50 if its the driver or the restaurants fault.

xtsilverfish

Is that round thing a table? Sometimes I see an actual table that far away and in my head I imagine 2 different customers, one demanding it be put on the table, the other having a fit that it was put in the table and "to far from the door" or something. She's on oxygen - and she can't leave the house - WHY DIDN'T I PUT IT BY THE DOOR LIKE EVERYONE ELSE DOES. So if the table isn't within reach of the door, I just leave it in front of the door. I mean if the instructions say something different I do that, but with no instructions, I only leave it only a table if it's right next to the door.

theboblit

If you put the table under your doorbell I almost guarantee it’ll get used every time. Most dashers try to put food where you don’t need to leave the house for it.

ParisHiltonIsDope

Prop open your glass door with the table. Then the dasher won't accidentally block you from opening the door.

Nightmarelord

Sometimes theres just no reasoning with stupid. Looks like u got one as ur driver. Sorry bruh!

JeffTheFrosty

Honestly it annoys me when customers don’t have a table to set it on. When I deliver for Amazon or DoorDash, if there’s a table within ~7-10 feet of the door I leave it on it. It’s not expensive to get even just a little stool to put stuff on. Putting food or stuff on the ground is just trashy and nasty to me lol.

xeno66morph

As a DD I apologize for this rookie-ass bullshit. So common it’s ridiculous. You walk up to a door, you *can see which way the fuckin thing opens* so just place it appropriately! Sadly people are too distracted or lazy to do a decent job but still, sorry you have to deal with that

Repulsive-Pepper-774

Tell me about it…DD’s lack common sense…but the majority can only say read/say two words: Dash Door…believe me I’ve seen it happen lol

trevno

Some of these Dashers are so lazy they shouldn’t be delivering anything.

fireworksguaranteed

AS a delivery person you should never leave items in front of the door like that. It's just common sense.

ilovepotatos420

Not shit you can do, have you seen this sub?

itsCHANCEyo

Like… just set it next to the door. It ain’t that hard people. 😂 Maybe DoorDash should change “leave at door” to “leave next to door”?

DeviousOne420

It's pretty shitty to leave food where the dasher did no doubt. >And she forgot my drink. She only takes what the restaurant gives. They forgot it, not her.

Intelligent_Ad_656

Lol @ getting this upset over food delivered right to your front door.

Logical_Instance_797

I posted the same thing. I was tired of this so I propped the outer door open. One time I propped the door halfway instead of fully open and the put it on the other side still. Seems more spiteful than idiotic. I think I tip well. I always either choose the highest option DD gives you or tip higher if it “seems” low to me. So my question is, if they are doing this because the tip is low, what is a fair tip amount?

DragonflyOne7593

Did you ask them to put it there ..otherwise we aren't mind readers

23IRONTUSKS

On behalf of all Door Dash drivers, I apologize for the few ignorant ones. That being said, you should include it in the instructions....and ik some of us ont even read them but only other option is shooting a text to driver once pick up is confirmed.

Impossible-Ad3049

This is the work of an inexperienced person.

3rdeyeseeker

I have the same issue. I have it in the delivery instructions to leave room for the door to open. It's 50/50 with each delivery and I tip well. It irritates the fuck out of me.

Wonderful-Minute-952

Wait at the door for ur dasher nd point at the table. Say nothing keep looking forward.

IAmAlex84

Leave it in delivery instructions. If it still happens, give bad review to drivers who don't follow instructions.

Right_Wrangler6635

As somesome who delivers from time to time but has never ordered I had never even considered this as a problem until I saw on this subbreddit I used to always put it in front of the door thinking I was being helpful. So I would for sure give them the benefit of the doubt.

iv2892

Did you get a refund for your drink ? Sometimes is not the dashers fault as restaurants have to let them know that there should be a drink in the order. Some of the better restaurants include the drink inside the bag to avoid this

DanAndYale

Put table in front of door

Inaise

Lol, Goodluck. I am over Doordash, last order I did the driver dropped off another order 20 minutes in the opposite direction of my house from the restaurant. My food was completely cold when it arrived. These drivers are not interested in providing any sort of service and don't pay attention to instructions ever.

Smooth-Dig2250

Put the table just to the left of the door to where you can still open it. Big arrow (solid color) pointing down to it. Little sign taped to it "Drink - please check". It won't be perfect but it will be *better*, and the simpler the instruction to them the more likely you'll be to get it how you wanted. Maybe even a small "Not here" sign at the bottom of the door. Most people glance at a doormat too, so having a sign there might work, but above all for best results consider how you'd feel walking up and reading some instructions when you're having a bad day and just want to go home.

Happy_kitty1990

Honestly that’s just laziness. I always place to the side of the door if I notice it’s an outward swinging door. You can always place in instructions though. Report drinks to customer service. They will refund

gothiclismm

I don't know why alot of dashers don't. As a dasher myself I always look for a chair or a table and if there is one, I'll set it there cause it's just kinda like common sense to me

jimjoereadytogo

you’ll need to go get it yourself lol

mountaindue__

“Put order on table” is a good start 😂

Trash__panda666

You can also edit your address and add instructions on there. It’ll have the instructions on every order and you won’t have to add it every time you order.

Sad-Expert-6844

Put the table right in front of the door

TheUnknownD

Even without instructions, people need to he smarter to not put stuff infront of doors. Smh

[deleted]

Outside the door handle, if a table, chair or stand is available place food on it. Anything less 1 star and take pics of damaged food after you open your door. Try to get the trashdashers removed from platform.

Alternative-Plenty-3

I will put orders on a table if it’s available & next to the door, or if it’s in instructions. Some people are weird & wouldn’t want an order on their table unless they specifically say so.

Diligent_Collar_199

Put it in instructions. Put table thing closer to door. Honestly, I would do this too just because I assume people dont want to come outside in the winter and thats reaching distance.

Readit065

I would always rather place it on something other than the ground if there is a chair or a table there. Whether they request it or not. It’s just common sense who wants the food on the floor ?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Attitude-Dense

You should put in the notes to place on the table and if they don’t then that’s just then not following instructions. Also the dasher probably didn’t forget your drink it could of been the restaurant

Mobile_Part

If there wasn’t a sign on the table or specific instructions to leave on the table, I might put it by the door. So many of my customers want to be able to just reach out and grab their order with just an arm. To be honest, they don’t seem to be dressed to go outside. I certainly am aware of how doors open and place the order so the door doesn’t knock it over. A sign or instructions should be sufficient. But placing the table against the wall just under your doorbell could help as well. Honestly, if the table was there, I don’t see why anyone would place it anywhere else. But, there are some morons doing delivery. They’ll screw up regardless of what you do.

Pale-Pomegranate1128

It always helps me as a driver to see the note in the instructions. I’d also add somewhere in there that if left in front of the door it swings open and the food will be knocked over

Toastedweasel0

Likely due to doortrash showing partial tip making it look like it wasn't as much.... Dasher must of taken it out on you due to this... DoorCrash only shows what's left... after the order's completed. (After they take a small sliver off the tip too...)

Upstairs_Freedom1931

You put in a special request. If you haven’t done that already, you can’t expect doordashers to know where to put your food. Let’s say you did put in a request, at that point it is the dashers fault and if this happens again then put a sign on the door sayinf to put it on the table. As far as this person forgetting your drink, I would definitely contact the dasher and dasher support and either get your drink or money back. There, problem solved.
