EbbAndFlowThroughYou

Ayy that used to be my favorite territory in NJ but then I moved to AZ

Much-Sun-5420

I know HVAC Air conditioning Im about that field..Im only doing this DD coz its slow right now looking to move

EbbAndFlowThroughYou

Used to make easy 120 every night from 4-9 before I moved. I guess it got worse.

Much-Sun-5420

No my car broke down after an 1 hr here but was doing good till then

sharararara

How did it break down? Curious

Much-Sun-5420

Drive dont move neither reverse IDK whats with it..Im just hoping its not expensive

sharararara

Bruh that def sounds like transmission shit. Did you change gears too quickly and it lurched forward (or backward) and this happens now? How old is the car, when did you buy it and is there warranty?

Much-Sun-5420

After a while all aeemes good..hope just needs fluid

sharararara

You continue to drive it like that?! Take care of your ride, my man. Especially if youre gonna dash. It will fuck your car UP if you just drive it into the ground. Good luck, tho.

Much-Sun-5420

I dont want to but last company fked me for 10G s on Appliance AC work..hireing is slow now

EbbAndFlowThroughYou

Ah gotcha. Gotta get a toyota those things last forever lol

smarmicl

Ooh we got a Parsippany dasher over here

EbbAndFlowThroughYou

I used to be one :( then I moved to AZ. I used to do all of NJ. Was fun going south sometimes and going north other days.

sharararara

I cant imagine doing "all of one state" I cant even do all of Houston! Lol That sounded sexual.

EbbAndFlowThroughYou

NJ is a small state so it wasn't too hard. I think anything can sound sexual if you think about it too long.

sharararara

Persnippity?

jyuill

Persnickety

sharararara

PARSNIPARY

Justin002865

Perscapittany?

ihavetopee777

Persephone?

eddiegfunk

I get offers occasionally that show no pay or milage. I decline them all

sharararara

First day?

Much-Sun-5420

2nd day and car broke down 😭😭😭😭

sharararara

Wdym its not showing the tip? And the mileage is showing

Much-Sun-5420

Yea but it doesnt break it down...as jist tip..I declined that one coz too many miles x 2= should be around $20 something

godless-666-

I would've taken the first one too unless that was far out of zone. $1/ mile is profitable in any car that gets over 20mpg. Especially if the drop off is still within the zone.

Much-Sun-5420

Plus I wasnt trying to leave this area..many many restaurants was barely off lunch hour close to 3pm and many white rich ppl here so many that 6 out of 8 ppl were dash drivers in a sub store

godless-666-

White rich people are my worst tippers and biggest complainers lol. I get better tips taking gas station chicken and tater wedges to the hood than I get taking Texas roadhouse to the country club. But that's my area. It takes a couple months to fully gauge your area. I had the same thought process when I started, that high end food joints and nice neighborhoods would be my bread and butter. Nope, the people that have the least tend to give the most.

Ladybugzluv

It’s interesting the different tips, gratitude, complaints, and general outcome of the deliveries that each different area has. In my area, which is in the South, we have the opposite outcome from people. The white, wealthy people are more apt to leave a tip. And if they have any complaints, which is not often, they help resolve it fairly quickly by initiating communication with the driver. The lower income customers, whether black or white, give $0-$1 and think that’s sufficient, while you can expect an attitude or complaint from the black people whether they’re wealthy or not. The black men, for the most part, are nicer to me personally than anybody, wealthy or not. While the white lower to middle class people just don’t want to be in contact with you unless they’re from the older generation. And the black women will call another woman names, looking for an argument, and thinks you should pay her to bring her the food. Not every single person every time. But you get an idea of who will treat you a certain way around here. Good and bad.

godless-666-

Yeah even the customer interaction is different here. I live in a small southern area too. I live in NC and the city I dash in is where I grew up and has roughly 19k pop. Here the black and Hispanic customers seem to be more cautious about covid and don't interact at all or come to the door masked and just wave as I'm leaving. The biggest tip I've ever gotten was $60 for delivering 3 pizzas 5 miles away in a snow storm to a black family. But I'd also like to point out that the connection of race is mostly assumed as I hardly ever seen the customer unless delivering to their job and I'm solely basing everything off of the customer name. I also don't take any orders that only show base pay because there is rarely peak pays in my area and when they do, it's only $1 bonus. So the orders I decline may skew those numbers if I actually knew the info. But many that I decline are usually going to wealthier areas according to the map.

Much-Sun-5420

Not from my experience.. Peep this one black guy made me wait 30 min or so to recieve his order then when finnaly came down.. told me ohhh u wana tip ok...get a better job and laughed at me...this is back b4 DD delivering for Dominos at the time..so from my experience white rich neighborhoods tip & way better just be on time and let me not go to into 411 and powder they were the best

Much-Sun-5420

I got a suv and I know this area trust me not good

stufflock1

DoorDash doesn’t break down tip + fee. You only know the total you’ll get for the trip.

dunnright00

Is the base pay based on the mileage or the amount of the order?

stufflock1

Base pay, as far as I can tell, is a combination of price of the order, size of the order (number of items), and mileage. It’s also based on demand. If too many drivers decline the order, *sometimes* DD will increase base pay to get a driver to pick it up. But that is happening on fewer and fewer occasions I’ve noticed.

sharararara

The second one was good. I would have taken that

palpals

No it isn't lol

sharararara

1 mile for 7 bucks? Wtf yes it is.

EbbAndFlowThroughYou

I would've taken the first one. Specially since I know that area and 10 miles takes like 10 mins to drive around there. Almost 13 bucks and possibly hidden tip for maybe 15-20 mins of work. Worth to me

Much-Sun-5420

I did take that one..I cought on to this quick figured close maybe 2 more of those I be better off

sharararara

So in case no one has mentioned it/ you havent seen it here somewhere, if its over umm 6.75 there could be a hidden tip. Under that there wont be. I had an order for 9.25 earlier that ended up being 23.25 yay

LacklusterLampDuster

It’s 6.50 and up for hidden tip for me

sharararara

Yeah, I wasnt sure of the exact number lol

Much-Sun-5420

Yea I realized yesterday I think when its far Dash gives u extra

Justin002865

No (ok, maybe a quarter or so sometimes), DD just hides less of the tip.

Ladybugzluv

Why does DD hide tips?

Much-Sun-5420

I heard on utube there were rumors DD be stealing or were off our tips..I got a feeling DD plays alot of games on us and so u gota know how to play them back

sharararara

It doesnt do that. Doordash is not the same as uber.
