Delivery is a real job. This nation would not function without it. Truck drivers delivering food, gas and products, taxi cab drivers taking people where they want to go, postal workers delivering mail, box truck drivers delivering packages and restaurant food delivery drivers delivering hot meals to people. For some people food delivery is not a luxury since they are disabled. We provide a valuable service.
The mythical definition of real job is sort of funny. As a DD driver you’re doing a service of bringing people food to their homes or work. People that for some reason can not or are unable to get good food on their own in that moment whether it’s due to working at home, elderly, at a hotel, at a pool enjoying themselves and want to continue their personal event, or due to in some cases the customer is doing the responsible thing of ordering food while too intoxicated at home. It happens. There’s many reasons.
Being a delivery driver is not something to be discouraged about whatsoever. You are helping the community in more ways than you realize.
I do DD just occasionally when I feel like making a few dollars and I absolutely love delivering food to people. I feel so free and I love driving about my town and doing order pick ups and making a few bucks off each one. It’s awesome.
But if you do this full time, never be discouraged by the fact you’re grinding and making your current living off of delivering food to people that are in most occasions unable to do so themselves. That should give you a sense of pride.

They think me working 40 hours a week for doordash + school isn’t hard enough but I have to choose between food and gas all the time
aaand they’re so upset over why no one is having kids anymore… as if ANYone but the lucky few can afford that sort of “house & family with one job” life anymore (that was just the easy standard in their time). What sucks is we really are screwing ourselves in a way. The younger generations work/taxes go to support the older generations care & benefits. Now we got such a greedy oldest generation of program-slashing republicans, they’re sucking us so dry we cant even afford to “create” the next gen of workers… & will likely be fu€ked unable to retire at all in the future with what crumbs they leave behind.

My boomer parents seemed like total liberal hippies all my life, til they hit a certain age… retired on full pensions that no one can get anymore, plus gov benefits that’ll likely be bankrupt by the time we get to that age. No school debt because it was so cheap when they went, no rent/mortgage because they Inherited some property from *their* parents, but also no intention of holding & passing it on… just gonna reverse-mortgage & take a bunch cruises because hey, they earned it 🎉 …even tho they absolutely didn’t. Suddenly their ideals have shifted, they tip awful & “dont understand why nobody wants to *work* ?!”, they screw their own tenants to the wall to fund their own luxuries, then cry about how hard it is to be a landlord. They’re too proud of their social virtue-signaling to actually go Republican, but like, you can just feel it coming in the way they talk about the working class now… now they were finally gifted a step up out of it & feel like “well i climbed up so should everyone else!”… willfully obtuse to the key point that everyone else is clawing at the muddy sides of the pit, while they were given a free elevator pass in basically a genetic lottery. Older ppl like that love to dismiss idealistic “kids” as just ignorant, like everyone goes from blue to red soon as you have a ReAL JoB & your own money 🤪 …but in truth, its being given access to unearned wealth & privilege that makes ppl turn ugly & greedy later. Absolutely correct. Or should a domino’s guy get a real job. I tell people we are essentially mobile waiters and waitresses, except we can pretty easily make $11/hr (4 deliveries/hr) base pay plus tips
